checking out c/l Sat night and found an ad that was 10 hrs old for a C195 for a reasonable price so i called figuring it would have been sold, but i called and was surprised to find it was still available. made arrangements to go look at it and told the lady i would be there Sun. morning, afraid somebody might try and sneak in and steal it out from under me but it was still there Sunday so i bought it and brought it home with me, along with an almost nos set of 26x12x12 Goodyear turf tire and rims for a D series tractor. blew almost all my money , but i think it was worth it so what do you guys think of my new black hood. almost forgot it came with a 60" deck that needs a center spindle. there is a lot of play in the bearing. and no 3 point or any other goodies but it has the dual control valve for the 3 point, by the way if it did have a 3 point it wouldn't fit into my enclosed trailer for out of the weather storage. since i have decided to add this to my collection i have lo make some very tough decisions on which tractor or tractors must leave for new homes and hopefully greener pastures. just not enough room to keep them all unfortunately. eric j

Not only is it alive, I mowed my lawn today with it. Still a work in progress, but it's getting there slowly but surely. As promised, below are some pictures of the 704.

One of my horses at play "working the field". Used to tow around a specialized trailer used to harvest hops next to my house. Much more maneuverable than using pick up truck. Another pic of my 13-year old helping poor old dad with some seat time pulling traditional trailer filled with old hop vines.

I'm a supporter, I got the 2 year deal, pictures still to big it says. It works! Here's how I got the suburban Tires will be here today from M.E. Miller. Tractor should be assembled by next weekend, then I'll rebuild the 4 hp engine.

More options Finally the FEL 312 Hydro coming to the end.I paid $200 for the 312. All new fuel hoses and filter. Change all the fluids and tune up. New solenoid,key switch,light switch,rear lights and one front light. New tires in the rear and wider wheels in the front. Added weights front and rear. Heavy duty spindles added in the front. New forks.Painted everything. Works really good!!!

I am right with squonk, Pack fan for years and every year it's the same thing. Come back from a bye week and take the foot off the gas and look like a bunch of chumps. They can't do anything right. Hard to believe they are pro's. I would say they embarrassed themselves pretty good. little late to have to go back to basics of football, but that bye week seems they have forgotten how to play. Throughly discussing to watch.

hi there new to forum,just traded my near mint 1986 duetz-allis616 hydro and 48in.deck for a 1969 wheelhorse gt14 with 3pt hitch,looks like a basket case and needs some work,but I neede a work horse so did the swap.,i will be asking a bunch of questions since I'm not familiar with older machines only newer ones,so thanks in advance.

Picking up a new horse today, so awesome with the duallies! Wife says that's enough tractors. Been getting into this for about a month and have 5 Horses already, very addicting, but awesome. If America built things like this today, we would be in better shape.

I WAS SOBER WHEN IT HAPPENED. 1 Found out mother in law had lawn sweeper. 2 Borrowed lawn sweeper 3 To lazy to take off snow blower................ 4 Going as fast as 95 520H would go. 5 Fascinated by the leaves shooting into the catch bin....... A large silver maple tree by my garage jumped out in front of me!!!!!!!! I turned the steering wheel in time but the front wheels did not turn the tractor. Once again my enemy inertia bit me in the a**...... The wing on my single stage snow blower caught the tree and just bent the dickens out of the poor thing and the housing on the gear and chain side and the auger was rubbing and the chain was binding and I was cussing when just then my wife appeared and said to me......" What happened? " I told her I was trying to knock the #@*! tree down with the snow blower and then drove into the garage and grabbed the sledge hammer. While the adrenalin was still pumping through my veins I slammed that sledge into that bent wing until it was back in place. Adjusted the chain and spun the auger by hand and to my surprise it had no resistance. Started tractor and engauged blower. It was quieter than it was before I hit the tree............. The moral of this story is if you run into a tree with a snow blower while pulling a lawn sweeper what ever you do don't tell anybody. They wont believe you.............. And no I didn't take any pictures..........

I would like to share this idea to help take some of the weight which the snowblower/thrower adds to the front, and add it to the rear. While also making the blower easier to lift. I know some of you use the spring to help with lifting, but most of its tension is when the blower is in the down position. I ran the cable directly through the cable tube and not using the rock shaft. Ran it it through a pulley (NOS idler I had) which is connected to the "attach-o-matic" and back to the bottom hole in the lift arm. While the flag is in the upper hole of the lift arm, the weight that is in the rear, is connected to he bottom hole giving the added weight a little better mechanical advantage. So the weight in the back is actually helping to lift the weight in the front.

After selling off many tractors to "streamline" my stuff (down to 4 machines from a max of 14) I decided to focus on finding an 854. I'm picky and not interested in driving across the country so it'll be awhile before the right one shows up and I'm not in a rush either.....but in the meantime I found this 314-8 for a couple hundred buck on Craigslist and only 20 minutes from home. Do you think I could not buy it and instead focus my time and $$ on the elusive 854....nope....it came home with me! She has a whole lotta hours on the clock (but I'm sure the key was left on for most of em right ??). The deck is quiet for a change....the battery is shot as usual and of course it needs a carb replacement (major play/slop in the throttle shaft). The seat was destroyed and the steel pan cracked real bad but in stock I had a nice seat with armrests. I have like 4 sets of cast weights sitting around collecting dust so it'll get a set of those....and I have a five position 48" plow that hasn't seen the light of day in about 6 years so it will get that as well. It was a filthy mess (check out the furry dipstick tube )when I brought it home but with a bit of elbow grease it cleaned up alright for a machine with 1800+ hours on the meter. Pics of course.... If there is room, I would not hesitate to use Heli-Coil. I have used them in several other applications with great success. Do you think it is possible that buyer stripped threads assembling ?

Looking pretty good Hank! As for the rims... Maybe a nicer set will roll your way, but in the mean time I'd roll with what you got. Like Craig said, a little JB weld goes a long way. JB weld won't do anything to strengthen the rim, more for giving the rim a smooth surface so you don't pop your tube. As far as it being a safety issue I don't see it being a real big deal. It looks as though you have got any loose scale grinded off. Whats your top speed, 6???? Just going by what you have posted and how far you are going with your restore I can tell that you know whether or not they will be safe, they are right in front of you and you can tell much better than any of us. Sometimes things might look better, and sometimes worse in pictures.... I removed a lot of material making these front slot rims for my Lil Suburban... I sacrificed these rims because they had rust holes almost like yours that I repaired. I've used the tractor plenty, even diving deep into the corners at the Big Show and no issues... Shoot, I fired it up and ran it around a little just yesterday, the first time since June when I had it at the Big Show.

I think the cracks around the spindles and maybe more are caused by out-of-balance blades. The cheap cone balancers that are available leave a lot to be desired. Most of our decks have 3 spindles and if each has it's own shake they set up some serious harmonics in the deck pan. Garry

thats maybe something to find out. Maybe? The only reason I posted that is when I first joined some guy did a oil and filter change on his trans, cooked the eaton 1100. He specifically stated getting the wrong filter did it, when he checked the filter openings were to small and starved the trans of proper lubrication. That burned into my mind. I only get the factory recommended filters. These tractors are to pricey to cook. But, its a free world to do what you want, just sayin is all. Media in an engine's primary filters pull out particles as small as 25 to 30 microns (a typical average human hair is about 45 to 70 microns in diameters). Secondary filters do better - down to 5 or 10 microns - but also add restriction to the flow

If you feel like you have received $30 worth of help form the members of this fine forum, you can become a supporter and then all your picture problems will go away! I don't understand it. I just add another XI to my collection and somebody buys a 520-H and I want it too! Because I don't have one? Is that why some folks have huge barns of Wheel Horses? Do they collect one of each or just buy everything they find? I can't afford one of everything! No where near that! I have NO room now! Then I see you have a forward swept axle! You indeed could add a 60" deck! And I don't have one! I NEED a 60" deck! Now I don't feel that way about Mercedes or Jaguars or other things. Why WHs? I've got a NH 35 hp 4wd with FEL, backhoe, landscape rake, box blade, rock rake, sand/gravel spreader and yet I REALLY want a mid-mount blade for one of my WHs! In fact, I'm convinced that I NEED a mid-mount blade! I think maybe I need help... Great find Muz!

@squonk Those things are pretty nice. My neighbor has one that he let me borrow (gets passed around a couple of neighbors). My only complaint is that the driveway, truck, and I were covered in a super fine leaf dust when I was done.

Mother in law took my wife and kids away for the week. It freed me up to get a few chores taken care of at home and upstate. Along with a few house repairs the Horses were changed over for winter duty. Oil changed, greased, tire chains and of course ye ole two stage blower installed. I've been with the Pack for 51 yrs.Nothing wrong with calling them out when they play like a bunch of chumps. Losing to a good team is one thing. Getting blown out after a bye is unacceptable.
