Mother in law took my wife and kids away for the week. It freed me up to get a few chores taken care of at home and upstate. Along with a few house repairs the Horses were changed over for winter duty. Oil changed, greased, tire chains and of course ye ole two stage blower installed. Now with a little luck we'll have time to head up this winter. Some of you are worse than women and babies. So here's the much sought after photos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I recently picked up this 1997 520-H. It came with plow and wheel weights for $500. Had to put a new gasket in it, clean it up and thats about it. I also need to put new foot rests on when i get the chance. For now i use it for mowing grass and mulching leaves. Works pretty darn good with 869 hours! Next year I'm probably going to put the 60'' on it. Thanks, Dave!

I moved this to the general area. All great points, here's my take on the subject. This is actually take III for my reply. Take I and II were too long, so long story short.... I think it's important to allow access to the forum resources for those who just want to fix their machine, or find that part that broke, or maybe sell the machine that late uncle Roberto had. These people should be able to come here and have their one time shop to get what they need. Many tend to stick around, and that's great too however there are limits to how much you get for free. One of those limits is the number of pictures you can upload. The storage is not unlimited, and allowing unlimited uploads by members puts a greater burden on the supporters. If someone is very into the hobby and the use of this site, supporting will benefit them as well as us by keeping things in balance.

After selling off many tractors to "streamline" my stuff (down to 4 machines from a max of 14) I decided to focus on finding an 854. I'm picky and not interested in driving across the country so it'll be awhile before the right one shows up and I'm not in a rush either.....but in the meantime I found this 314-8 for a couple hundred buck on Craigslist and only 20 minutes from home. Do you think I could not buy it and instead focus my time and $$ on the elusive 854....nope....it came home with me! She has a whole lotta hours on the clock (but I'm sure the key was left on for most of em right ??). The deck is quiet for a change....the battery is shot as usual and of course it needs a carb replacement (major play/slop in the throttle shaft). The seat was destroyed and the steel pan cracked real bad but in stock I had a nice seat with armrests. I have like 4 sets of cast weights sitting around collecting dust so it'll get a set of those....and I have a five position 48" plow that hasn't seen the light of day in about 6 years so it will get that as well. It was a filthy mess (check out the furry dipstick tube )when I brought it home but with a bit of elbow grease it cleaned up alright for a machine with 1800+ hours on the meter. Pics of course.... Mike..........

No matter what the level of supporter status you choose... I'm convinced, it would still be a bargain at twice it's current price.

We have discussed this before and there is no "one answer fits all" to the Supporter situation. Realizing because of Red Square I am more blessed regarding my love of Wheel Horses than I would be without Red Square, I make the choice to be a Supporter. My advice to someone who has a Wheel Horse or two (or three or four) and is helped by all the information and knowledge available here would be to become a Supporter. The money is certainly well spent in many ways.

I became a supporter yesterday. Thanks to everyone's advise. I have helped others on here also.

Well, here is the Sovereign ready for winter. I finally got the handle to fit inside the cab. Took a little modification with the mounting bracket, but it works now. Also took a close up of the rubber paddle I put on to improve the performance of the blower. The left side of the cab covers where the rear engine fan is mounted, so it get's HOT!

For being 32 years old, the hydraulic cylinders sure come apart nice and easy. Ive got all the oring and back up specs along with the rubber wiper seals as well. I figure it will be about 35-40 bucks to get all four cylinders repacked and sealed. Here are the particulars for other Kwikway owners:

Where else can you get all this information and entertainment for 20 bucks? Really glad the photobucket thingy works. For a while after the upgrade, it didn't work at least for me anyways. Good thing. I have lots of ammo in photobucket!

My way of thinking is that Red Square, or any forum that I can gain knowledge from, is like a Co-Op. You put something in to get something out. It reminds me of my philosophy statement that I used while teaching. "Knowledge is of no value unless shared with others." This is a derivative of Anton Chekov's: "... unless put into practice." I think the focus should be on the limit of ads placed. Not wanting to discourage someone (like a widow or family member) from selling an item that a Red Square member would benefit from, allow perhaps two free ads over the initial month for joining. That would allow a new member to sample Red Square, and perhaps sell what they have. But then you get members that are consistently using Red Square as their own CL - and don't support by being a Supporter! Maybe something like three to five free ads per year as a Supporter. Additional ads could be, for example, five for $5.00. Or maybe become a vendor?

Here is the link for the accessories catalog. The correct name is "Blower Housing Clean Out Panels" and are on page 18. Part # 25 755 20-S http://www.kohlerengines.com/accessories/landing.htm Kohler made it a bit difficult as there are internal baffles within the Blower Housing. Here is a photo of an engine with them installed and the panels themselves. A template to cut the hole is included.

I hate it when they say "We need to talk", what they really mean is "You need to listen".

Reading this I am reminded of a recent one timer who had a couple of RJs from his dad and uncle to sell. As a result one of our members got a terrific deal and the seller shared some very nice family photos and a home movie of one of the RJs in action. We all benefited by his brief visit to the site and we should have paid him for sharing these priceless mementos. This site is good enough that those of us who are addicted to will continue to support it and we should welcome everyone who shares our interest, even if it is only to offer us the opportunity to buy more.

Gosh by Golly . . . Thank you, It's all of us together that makes this Site-Hobby-Family so great, here on Red Square and at the Shows and at the get-togethers, sharing, problem solving, talking, informing and encouraging each other. I've gotten so much satisfaction from our Family here, so much more than I've given . . . Glen

I believe this has come up before, and I bet Karl is going to say basically the same thing. We do get a lot of one time users, but the site is set up to let people lurk and see what this site is all about. I've seen women come on here to ask what something is worth and want to sell something because their husband passed away. I would like to think that they always get a fair shake from the people on this site. Those are the kind of things you would be tampering with by charging people to sell...do you want to charge people who want to trade or buy also...I don't think so. Do you want to charge to download manuals, pictures, videos??? I don't think that is what we are about. We pride ourselves on the people here who offer information and their time freely. There is a reason why we get a lot of people who come in here and look for a while before they join...not another site like this one on the net. The other issue is just this...KISS...Keep It Simple Stevasaurus.

I'm gonna have to say no Mike. Because, no matter how I work the numbers... I find no way to make 314-8 equal 854. But, I do think it's a nice score though.

Right off I noticed no right hub bolts and when I touched the tire I thought I felt and saw movement between the hub and axle and wondered... Yep! I pulled the hub off by hand! I expected to see a worn out mess but nope. Everything looked good! Then I saw and touched a heavy half curve of wire that fell out! That's it sitting on top of the axle in the pic. No idea what someone must have thought that would do! Didn't seem to do any harm. Shaft looks good! But of course the bearings are shot... Nope! No movement at all! Can I drill a little hole and pull that seal with a screw? Best choice for a seal? Did I read somewhere that sometimes there's room for two seals? Man I'm all smiles here! It's a good day! I think I dodged a bullet! (I put bolts back in for now and the sun hit the lower one and made it look like a light bulb!) All I can find for a hub kit is a hub, key and bolts. 1/2" bolts on mine! Right now it looks like all I need is a seal! 104-5053None - NoneNoneRear Wheel Hub Kit, 5xi Garden Tractors

Finally got her unloaded and what a nice day to do so! Didn't even see what else came with it until today, though I suspected because of the weight box. Must have had a snowblower because of the rear hitch. And that it came from Vermont! While it was handy I checked out the leaks. Next post.

This is a great forum and some people appreciate the value and support and some people get what they want without being a supporter. I think it's great to help anybody who needs assistance. I also think it can reciprocate in some way.

On the Photobucket issue...I just copy the picture using the "IMG" code ...come back to Red Square and just do "paste" right in front of the cursor. No need to click on "insert other media". Yep, it works like I said. This could be the next picture for "Caption This"

The bagger that came with my 416 works a lot better than the sweeper that I had. It sort of vacuums and then mulches the leaves and grass clippings. Cleat

STEVE: It's time to rag on Illinois teams! BE F^)(*(*^*^& consistent! WTH? Am glad that Illinois won, but as I stated in my last weeks statement, Illinois has been as unpredictable as a hurricane in the Pacific in October! Whatever! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? MSU FALLS TO NEBRASKA! Well there have it! John your Hawkeyes are about 2 steps closer to being ranked close enough because LSU also lost to Alabama, and Oklahoma took down TCU! If ever Iowa had a chance to be considered, it is now! John, you better get on the phone and tell those young men to start getting some big style points if they want to be considered! RMC!!!

At Scott's meet and greet, I told my girls they could pick out a dollar's worth of stickers and tattoos. He insisted they were free and threw in some wheelhorse pencils too, just to keep the kids interested in the hobby! We chatted for a few minutes about what it means to involve children in good hobbies and to invest in their future, that was more valuable than a couple bucks worth of kid stuff for sure!

I'd suggest a PM message to Lars in Norway. He had to replace his axle(s) about two years ago on a 520Lxi.
