7 pointsFound a package deal last night and was only after one piece. I didn't want it to get away so dad came to the rescue and made the trip for me. Since he has been retired, he looks forward to the next adventure and loves going on tractor related runs! This PTO will get cleaned up and mounted on a tractor to display. Haven't seen too many of them so we jumped on this one as quick as possible.

7 pointsMY BOY HAS DECIDED TO BRING THIS HORSE BACK TO LIFE FOR A 4H PROJECT. WE FOUND IT IN A BARN WITH NO PRIOR HISTORY OR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT IT. CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH YEAR, MODEL, ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT? I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO START. WAS THERE A SPECIFIC COLOR FOR BODY AND WHEELS? WE WOULD LIKE TO PUT IT BACK TO ORIGIONAL IF WE CAN. ANY HELP AT ALL WOULD BE GREATLY APRECIATED!!

7 pointsPicked d up an inexpensive shelter at harbor freight. Don't expect it to last that long but should get me through the winter

5 pointsI had a great time, and I'm glad everyone that was able to make it seemed to as well. Im just now back at home so I'll try to get some pics up after dinner

4 pointsOne of my favorite members here on Red Square (Shorts) made a front hitch for my B-100. It works fantastic. Now I can use the back hitch to pull the boat out and the front hitch to push the boat in. Shorts does not want to get into making these, but maybe Scott's buddy in Michigan (who made my back hitch) may want to make these if there is interest. Just wanted to share this with you guys. Thank you Paul.

4 pointscleaned up and painted, runs great, has a front, mid and rear PTO 3-point and a snow blade and shaft drive deck. could use a new seat.

4 pointsDon't make fun of my youth. We all wanted a VW bus painted like that. I ended with a 54 Chevy 4 door in my senior year in high school. But I finally got the need for speed. A 1963 Chevy Impala S S ,375 horse.

4 pointsIt isn't so much what day of the week -- It is "Did I take my meds for the day yet?" The pill box provides the proof!!

4 pointsI'm happy with the carport but i went out this morning and it was very humid and warm inside and the walls were wet so i'm thinking i may need to add a vent but considering i only paid 192$ for the carport after taxes and 40$ for 7ton of gravel i can't complain about the storage i gained. I also got to use the 314H to move the gravel around and it got worked pretty hard and it didn't miss a beat everything else fell apart on me the C121 lost its steering when the pin that holds the fan gear close the steering gear broke and the trailer had its blow outs so i guess i will stop saying i don't like the 314H i even gave it sum tlc this morning a good cleaning and hub caps and the yellow seat is gone!

4 pointsMy son brought home the new horse today, It's areal beauty everything is powder coated but the hood . Can't wait till the snow comes and see what this little horse can do . For a extra $100 he through in two hoods,59 trans,58 trans parts minus cast center, seat, steering wheel, rims tires, and a bunch of small parts . They'll come in handy for my other RJ. I would like to thank Chris for passing it on after 40 years of ownership . I know it was hard to let it go, but I promise to take good care for her.

4 pointsI'm hoping Bert will post the pics that were taken. We had pound for pound the BEST Wheel Horse Shin Dig I could have hoped for! Linder is an excellant Host and cook. We had pulled pork BBQ, slaw, baked beans, and deep dish apple pie for dessert ( I thought about you Mike while eating that apple pie ). That night we had a big bon fire and the assorted beverages that complimented the flames . Then this morning we were up n running by 8am drinking fresh ground coffee and fresh milk. We got the fire going again and Linder cooked us a Beakfast of Wheel Horse Champions, eggs from her chickens cooked with cheese from her cows, sausage and vine ripe tomatoes from her garden. I don't know how she is getting tomatoes this late in the season but her tomatoe garden was overflowing with them and they were delisious! Bert of course is a fine young man, genuinely kind and friendly, like alot of guys here at Red Square. He gave me a drive belt guard that we hope will fit my 701. Bert led us on a trail ride around the farm and thay have a beautiful place. Bert and his lifelong friend Roger told us stories of the funny stuff they did as kids and the both of them kept me laughing. I could actuallyfeel my stress level start to go down while I was there. Trust me, that was very refreshing. But of course it started ramping up again once I hit Interstate 40 east where 3 hours and 45 minutes later I found myself at home sweet home. Bert and Linder, you all are a North Carolina Red Square Blessing, Thank you again for having me at your Meet and Greet this weekend. I will not forget it

3 pointsGrandpa just gave this tractor, he bought brand new but im not shure of the year, any ideas? Also I broke the deck/plow lift rod. Its a l hook on one end and threaded on the top with a collar/nipple part.....any how I need one of thes if some one can help me find the parts.
-
3 pointsFrom the picture I can tel you it is a 1961 Suburban. Not sure of the model (401 or 551) would need the see the transmission to know.
-
3 points@WHX5 Jim, 1045 and 1046 are not the same, but both are rarer tractors. 1045 was a special half-breed crossover model, with new square hood and old round fenders. Special documented run of 1100 units. The 1046 was an undocumented special run to use up the remaining spec of shallow oil pan spec engines. Unknown quantity produced, but they do show up every now and then. They are pretty hard to come across. There is no manual for the 1046, there was only a special variance part number sheet that had the numbers that were different from the 1056.
-
3 pointsClue me in on the 1046 Jason ...rare? I looked at one awhile back that was touted as a 1045 0r '46 I don't remember, just that it was over priced for what it was. Didn't know there was a "special love for my 1067?!?!? Tom probably had a Harley Fonzy style.... got that little guy on a RJ yet Mike?...Never too young to start em out right!

3 pointsWell....that changes things a little. Glad we started a thread now?? Now it sounds like your shifter. Does it feel like you are changing gears when you move the shifter?? Check out that hi/low thing when you get home also. It would be nice to know if that works while we are at it. Let's see what you find.

3 pointsRMCIII picks 5 games correct last week and thinks he is Nostradamus.
-
3 pointsIf it's an 8 speed transmission it might be in the low range.Does it have two shifters? If so the lower one is the Hi Low range selector. Shift it to the right to get back into Hi range which will speed up all the gears.
-
3 pointsThe boy wanted some seat time before I put the blade on it. Now let it snow let it snow let it snow.
-
3 pointsThank you Bert and Linder for all your hard work and hospitality for this meet and greet. Nice to meet RS members and wished more could have attended.

2 pointsPicked up a pair of mounted used Ag tires at an auction yesterday. They are Carlisle Super lugs 23 10.50x12 mounted on 8.5" rims. Put them on my 310-8 (she is my pulling tractor...that is trailers and other stuff not competition). She had Deestone Super extra grip 23 10.50x12 on WH 7.5" rims. Look at the difference. Wish I knew where the 8.5" rims came from as the backset is perfect for WHs... By the way Bob Maynards Studs and lug nut set made swap a breeze

2 pointsToday was my lucky day. The first thing I did today was look at Craigslist postings for Wheel Horse items. In the last few weeks I have been looking for a snow plow for a Lawn Ranger that I have been restoring. But today the first thing I saw on the Wheel Horse search was a C145 with a snow plow, Wheel Horse wheel weights and chains...no deck but I don't need a deck. And I bought the whole darned thing for the same money that I had seen a Lawn Ranger snow plow listed. WOW. And the good part is a few years ago I had a C145 with a deck and a snow plow so I know how well they work in the snow. I cannot believe how much snow can be pushed around with one of those things. Maybe tomorrow I will remember to take some photos of the C145 and post them.

2 pointsDefinitely a 1961 suburban. Agree it's a 551 if electric start and it does look to have a battery, so it probably is. Current value-depends on location and buyer and condition...$300-$400 as is? Is the engine original? Missing correct exhaust and heat shield, hood has minor mods to it, foot pads are incorrect. All minor changes. Looks to have original tires. Post up some better pictures of all sides. Nice tractor. It's your ride, do it up how you like. Nothing wrong with changing colors. Would have had off-white rims and seat with red everything else from the factory. IH/Case red and antique white work well if your spraying with a gun. If you're using rattle cans, a lot of people like regal red from rustoleum. It's future is in your hands.
-
2 pointsThanks so much for information . Interesting tractor. The more I learn the better off I am. Don't want to stumble across a deal on a WH and not know about the model tractor and lose out on something that is special.
-
2 pointsBTW...where is your Dad?? did he ever have a VW Bus?? Maybe you were not born in Owacono?? Hey Mike, how's the new guy doing??

2 pointsOK Bob...you have been HOT!!! Maybe he THINKS HE is Jimmy the Greek. Going with the Home Teams this week...ILLINOIS, PURDUE, WISCONSIN, BARFOWA, MINNESOTA, TEMPLE EDITED TO CHANGE MY PICK FROM PENN ST. TO ILLINOIS. I THINK KOEN IS RIGHT HERE.
-
2 pointsThe link that Steve gave you may not necessarily be the right one for your tractor. Yours may actually be a 1986 model sold new in 1987 (my 310-8 was), different engines and electrical systems. Probably the same transmission though, although if I remember correctly there might be one bearing that's different. Take a look at your engine when you get a minute. There should be at least one tag on the outside of the cooling shroud, let us know what that says. If it's original, your engine will be a Kohler, either a K301 or a Magnum M12. You may also be lucky enough to see a tag on your tractor, somewhere near the seat, that would help too. Either way, these guys can definitely help you with your transmission problem. Just to clarify, you're not saying your tractor is running the SAME speed in all forward gears, correct? In other words, 2nd is a little faster than 1st, and 3rd is a little faster than 2nd?
-
2 pointsI borrowed this picture from Colbyeast in the gallery. You can see the 2 shifters next to each other. The smaller one is a hi/low shifter, the other one (as you know) gives you the 3 gears forward and l1 in reverse.
-
2 pointsI'm still waiting for my bubble to burst. Some of the guys here might start thinking that I know what the heck I'm doing. Ain't so fellas! Penn State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame
-
2 pointsReplaced my regulator and all is good now, took a whole whopping five minutes. Now both tractor voltmeter and multi meter readings steady @ 13-14vdc. I guess we know now that when the head lights flicker at full throttle and the battery is fully charged we have an ovecharging regulator. Hope I did't cook this battery.

2 pointsOld thread I know but...any1 see the tombstone weight on EBay right now??? 22bids, 2 days left, currently at $390!!!
-
2 pointsBetter do something to protect those shins....Not much meat on a shin! My shins look like a saw blade when viewed from the side. I have dents all up and down my shins I was just thinking today about hanging weights off the front for plowing, but I couldn't figure out how to keep it from drooping down. Never thought about attaching it to the mid mount. Thanks for the idea. I know where some of my son's weights are going!
-
2 pointsSure glad you had a great time. Wish I could have been there. Pleas someone post some pictures

2 pointsThanks Bert & Linder and all who did the prep for this get together. Great to put names with faces. Thank you. Lance

1 pointDon't look now, but I think Koen (except for his Illinois pick) is trying to get out of the basement...or he is trying to slow down my crash. Maybe he is just tired of drinking alone. That is one of those questions that they ask you in the 7 step programs..."Do you ever drink alone?" The correct answer is "D"...all of the above. "C"...not with out a net...is the second best answer. You know...I think Koen is right about Illinois. I am going to go back and change that choice. Thanks Koen...catch me if you can.
