11 pointsA few days ago while I was complaining about my sore shoulders from wrestling this "killer tiller" through my strawberry beds along side my pole barn, Mrs. K made the comment " all those little tractors...can't they help you". Sure enough, the next day when I went to the barn, there sat the 314 Hydro with the blade off for a new scraper bar that a member made for me.........It looked like a mount for a TILLER. A little cutting with the radiac and its ready to mount up. Drill a few holes, add two braces, and make a belt tensioner. More seat time...less sore shoulders.

9 pointsAnd I don't mean sleeping either!! Got the blade on with the 5 sector angle bracket. Each tire is filled with RV antifreeze and of course the weights. About 340 extra LB's plus the 2 link chains.

6 pointsI don't have any plates, screws or bolts to talk about but the last few years have been a real roller coaster ride health-wise to say the least. I do still have a triple lumen Hickman central line but you don't want pics of that. So it's more of an illness than injury situation for me unless I get too weak from the treatments to walk unassisted. On a lighter note, I got a negative result from the spinal tap I had on Tuesday. No leukemia cells detected. So things are looking up and I hope so for all of you as well.

5 pointsI picked up a 1977 C-120 Automatic yesterday. The PO said the engine seized while mowing on a steep bank. I have not tried to turn the engine. For what I paid, I couldn't let this deal pass. The PO robbed some parts from the C-120 to put on another Wheel Horse, but this could have some possibilities! Oh...and a deck came with it, but 1 spindle shaft is broke.

5 pointsAlready in the works Ken & Steve! That's what I needed an old plow frame for. Next year is customs for the featured tractor so I definitely need to bring something different.

4 pointsOne of my neighbors is trying to offload a C-81....for free. He just wants me to get rid of it. I don't have a big property and most of it is rocks.....but I could see using this to plow my rather large driveway although I'd need to buiild a shed to store it. As a newbie I'd like to ask for some help. Currently the tractor doesn't start. Previous owner says he can see the fuel filter isn't showing any activity so my guess was that it's the fuel pump that needs to be replace. Engine tries to crank but it's most likely not getting any fuel. Any help is greatly appreciated. He added weights to the rear wheels, filled the wheels with windshield washer fluid, and it has chains. Also has the mower attachment. 8HP. I haven't taken possession of it yet because it's at the bottom of a steep driveway so it will be a royal pain to push it up to get it out! Hm not letting me upload even one picture. Pics.

4 pointsLooks like... all that's needed to put it to work is a 50" sickle bar hangin' off the side.

4 pointsI didn't see them in the stands during the game but this did pop up after the game. That's John aka Brrly1 on the right and for those who aren't sure who the guy on the left is, this should clear that up for ya..

3 pointsA few weeks back, a RS member had a front tine dethatcher for sale in the classifieds. It really was a JD dethatcher, but painted WH red. I thought about buying it, but all of the front tine dethatchers I had seen had a manual lift that was somewhat difficult to use. Now, if you could attach the dethatcher to the lift already on the tractor, that would be worth having. Given that I probably would have to invest $100 or so in materials and fab cost, I decided to prowl CL and I came upon a FREE dethatcher. It was a bit smaller than the JD attachment, but the price was right. I had to add a rod to the front mount bracket so it would engage the front tach-a matic and get a pivot bracket built to accept a snowblower lift rod. To keeps costs down during welding (since I cannot do it myself), I decided to use the lift rod from my single stage xi blower (which has a horizontal fitting at the end and is shorter than a classic blower lift rod) and the lift flag from a classic blower. The only error I made was that I designed the pivot bracket directly on the center of the tractor (like it is on the xi),not remembering that on classic tractors, the rockshaft for the blower is offset from center. The 1/2 inch clevis pin would not go thru so I substituted a 3/8 bolt. The pix below show it mounted on my 314. It works like a dream, just don't try to make a turn with it in the down position-it behaves like a blower does when turning. Total cost when I was done? $100; $55 for the steel cut to size, $40 for welding, and $5 for the shaft collars.

3 pointsHello everyone. I Have been the proud owner of a Toro Wheel Horse 520H for the last eighteen years. 20 horse Onan with 48 inch deck and snow plow I bought with 23 demo hours on it. After learning parts are no longer being made and just having had to replace my belt tensioner pulley between the engine and the hydro because of a noisy screaching pully bearing I thought maybe I should look for a forum now that I have almost 1,100 hours on it in case I need some future advice or a potential source for parts. I look forward to learning a great deal from the information here on this forum, and hope I will be able to contribute some as well.

3 pointsWith all of the preparations everyone are making it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get any measurable snow at all. The blade, chains and wheel weights never came off the 1055 this year so I guess I beat all of you. Sort of like the folks that leave the ice sickle lights on the house all year, until July they are seen as procrastinators, by August they are considered proactive. Nice setup Mike.

3 pointsIt was crazy, what happened to John and me at the game. Because the game was on ABC, they put the Wildcats on what is usually the Visitors side...so the cameras in the boxes would be able to keep them on the cameras. We, were supposed to be on the visitor side...and we end up on the Home side at their Homecoming game...sitting right next to the cheering glee club dressed in Purple. Lucky for John, the game was one sided for the Iowa Hawkeyes, because the 1st quarter was close and the cheering section (for Northwestern) was driving him nuts. The bad day for Northwestern, ended up being a good day for John...cracked me up. We were surrounded by some excellent people around our seats, that we became friends with...one guy from Boston, who flew out to see his daughter at Northwestern and came to the game. And the usual yahoos from Iowa that John attracts, and they are great company for sure. What a nice day!! I know we will do this again...it is just such a good time.

3 pointsLeaves just started to fall this week, and snowthrower with cab still stored. I pickup the 60" deck next weekend for the 523Dxi! Freeze tonight and tomorrow night though. Long-term forecast predicts a wet winter.

3 pointsLeaves are changin fast. Took these just for you Craig. The're both in my front yard and were all green 4 days ago!
-
3 pointsThis sleeve hitch is centered And your hitch is like this You may need to remove the 2 bolts that hold the hitch onto the plow and turn it over so the entire plow is moved over to the right.

3 pointsCraig I had all shrouds fine sand blasted to take off all old paint. I saved all bolts redid them with a 6" wire wheel them clear coat them. I MEAN ALL BOLTS. When you are retired I guess you have time to do this. It is getting there. Will be a nice winter project to get it running. Jim it is new recoil that I had. So I guess extra rope for different applications. I have to trim it when it is all back together.
-
3 pointsI agree they are not safe to use in their present condition. That's why I'm doing the extensive time consuming repairs. I would be more worried about the wheel buckling under the weight than blowing up because of the low pressure used. When I finish the repairs the tube or tire would rupture before the wheel.
-
3 pointsNice job. If your wife hadn't said anything would you have built it? Seems like our wives have a way to get our brains in gear and sometimes they don't even know it.
-
3 pointsTake the clevis off the front of the plow beam and flip it over. It is offset and will move toward the left, allowing the plow to track farther to the right.

2 pointsThanks for all the comments. Maybe I should go for a patent and market it as "The MAD MAX KILLER TILLER"......... Naaww, I probably wouldn't live long enough to get OSHA approval. Anyway, who wants to go to work when this is so much fun.

2 pointsAs you are viewing the picture, the tiller is turning CW. This is the correct direction for the sharpened edges of the tines. For safety reasons, this requires the tilling to be done in reverse. You always want the tines to enter new ground on the down stroke side so if you hit a rock or root, the tiller lifts up over the obstruction as opposed to hooking it underneath and probably breaking the drive train. This is the opposite direction from the original walk behind where the downstroke was in front and it was operated in a forward direction. I had to turn the tiller around 180 deg. to get the drive pulley in line with the PTO, therefore the change in direction. Actually it works very well in reverse. I have found I can pull in to where I want to start tilling, put the hydro in neutral, and hold the brake, Then, using the hyd lift, slowly lower the tiller head to the depth I want. Then just using the brake to control speed, let the tiller push the tractor in reverse.

2 pointsSnowin there now Mike. My daughter is in Erie and it is snowing there.

2 pointsWell I got new Hydraulic lines and fittings installed. Also got 3 point installed. And the steering tower and tie rods connected. With temps now too low for paint, the project is pretty much at a roadblock until Spring temperatures allow me to paint the body panels, as well as the engine. With steering wheel temporarily mounted I decided to roll it out into yard to get some pics of current status. Then rolled the beast back into its cave to hibernate for winter.

2 pointsYou might want to add Titanium to that list. I joined the "Titanium Club" on June 24 - with my six inch plate and eight screws.

2 pointsBob makes a goo point, I have titanium in my back and he will soon. The "Golden Years" refers to the gold the medical community make from us old codgers.

1 pointWell I have two other horses so as long as I can get this one done to bring and drive in the parade at the big show next year I'll be happy. i actually scheduled my 15th anniversary sabbatical in May so I will have some time to focus on it if need be. It it would be awesome if I get it done and spend that month getting my C161 done. But 1st things first...
-
1 pointI don't know who built it ,but that would be one tough ride on the highway ,not to mention off roading.

1 pointOk I'm new to this and love this idea. If you read my profile you know I grew up in Allis Chalmers dealership ,man did I have it easy . Everything was broke down to model and serial#s . Just go to to microfiche ( that's right no computer and still don't )find part # go to the parts card bin look it up ,see if it was in stock or had to order . I love the community all ready been a big help. It would be nice to go look at some pics to see what is correct and what's not. I want to restore my 702 back to stock as close as possible . The guy that I bought the 702 and RJ from had at least 25 round hoods and had a wealth of knowledge . From what I've read in this thread and what he explained to me I believe it's a late 59 . If anyone knows this person or your on red square pm me . He's from montrose Mi. On anther note on the allis Chalmers forum (which I don't belong, this is the only one)there's a spot for former employees or family members to write there story's and memory's and it's pretty cool to see some lost connections or stories inter twin, also some of the employees can give some insite on some models which they built.

1 pointKeeping them both, I knew you would come to your senses! Be sure to check the plug wire going to the "soiled" plug, a new wire and plug could be all you need.
