6 pointsAt least that's what I tell my wife, only tractors and flashlights....but she saw me cleaning up a mess in the garage today and asked if I was a strap collector . I converted this nasty pile to a neat organized pile.....and found my jumper cables in it as well! Mike.........

6 pointsA neighboring community is having their annual fest this weekend. We were there last night to eat, and will be back on Sunday for the parade. My Mom & Dad, brother and his son and my step daughter & husband as well as my wife and I spent most of the day today pressure washing, cleaning, fueling, tire airing, oil checking and loading 11 tractors! Boy am I tired! 10 tractors are mine and 1 belongs to @hollandvfd6 I know, I know...cut the BS and get with the photos!

6 pointsI picked up a NOS Cab at the big show in June and just found time to mount it. Been a real busy Summer. It is a 5XI cab and I was a little apprehensive about buying it but I couldn't pass it up for the price. I found Horsefixers thread about mounting one on a Classic and it was very helpful. Thanks Duke! I used some of his tricks and came up with some of my own. I molested no parts except the rear mounting bracket which is minimal. Glad this project is done. Getting real close to Steelie season.

5 pointsI made several modifications and improvements (in my mine anyway) along the way. There are a few other things I want to add/change, but they can wait until winter. I think 2nd gear is a little slow for mowing and a safety lock out for the Hi/Low shift lever would be a good idea. But, all in all, I'm happy with the end result. Now we'll find out if it can share the shed with it's little brother, a '67 867 WH, a '66 B-10 AC, a '64 round fender 110 JD, and a '89 4016 Case.

5 pointsDoes any one remember this 2 weeks ago? It is going well as you can see. I think this will be easy. Just clean up and a buff out the last pick is the tranny and the engine swap. I hope you enjoy the picks. OOHHH the RTV Stand makes it a brezzzzz to work on. Under $100.0 Take care...........................

4 points... the early Fall weather, that is... nearly perfect weather for late September. I could take this all year long. We have not too much rain here in south, central PA recently, but the lawn is still green and growing like crazy. So, after mowing the lawn yesterday, I let my three work horses out to graze. My1995 model 314-8, 1967 model 857, and 1990 520-H are so happy, they went into doing a little rodeo dance as the sun was setting.

3 pointsGents, Wanted to introduce myself...I started looking for a garden tractor to restore a few years ago and having no background in this area started from a blank slate. Looked at a variety of tractors and had never heard of Wheel Horse. Stumbled onto this forum and have been lurking ever since. I narrowed my search down to a manual transmission Wheel Horse and was searching every CL from South Jersey to Maine. I ended up finding a 1990? 416-8 restored by a local guy and his son. I was planning to restore one myself, but they had done an amazing job and had it for sale on CL. After a few months with no movement, I saved my pennies and ended up picking it up, interestingly, they live only a few miles from me. The work they did was meticulous and the tractor is beautiful. I have been mowing with it now for several months and yesterday picked up a 48" snow plow from a guy an hour away. I'm planning to knock the worst of the rust off and wire wheel the beejezus out of it, repaint it and have it ready for whatever this winter throws at us. Today while mowing, I had my first scare. The tractor was driving fine, and suddenly it refused to shift into either 1 or R. A quick search here turned up the "dog tooth set screw" issue and I had it back to shifting in a few minutes. So, thanks to all of you for a wonderful forum and the reams of information about these machines. I didn't have a very strong tractor bias prior to discovering WH, but now I'm hooked. Pics when I get them.

3 pointsSometime a guys has to do what he has to do! I am presently down to 9 from 24. When they start flowing out the stable doors and into the yard its time to have some intervention. Whats left in the stable is my restored 56, 58, (701 in primer and parts) 702, and 68 Lawn Ranger. 2) 520's and the 417A. One of the 520's will be a loader the other one if for parts. Not Shown is The Senior in my shop and the 520 Snow Chucker.

3 pointsI agree with Mike (Sorekiwi). I had a needle bearing in my C141 fail just as yours. When I split the trans, there were needles and pieces of needles everywhere inside. And yes, those fragments got into the bearing carrier in the 1533 bearing and it was trashed on one side. The axles were also a bit chewed up, but still usable. If you don't want to split the trans, I would take the pieces of broken needles (assuming you still have them) and see how many "full" needles they would make. Compare that number to the number of needles in a new bearing and you have your answer.

3 pointsHAPPY TRAILS TO YOU" The young guns may not understand the meaning of this but since you are a little older, you should!! THE END OF AN ERA....... The Roy Rogers Museum in Branson , MO has closed its doors forever. The contents of the museum were sold at a public auction. Roy Rogers told his son, if the museum ever operates at a loss, close it And sell the contents. He complied.Note the follow-on article truly the end of an era. Here is a partial listing of some of the items that were sold at auction... Roy 's 1964 Bonneville sold for $254,500, it was estimated to sell between 100 and 150 thousand dollars. His script book from the January 14,1953 episode of This Is Your Life sold for $10,000 (EST.$800-$1,000). A collection of signed baseballs ( Pete Rose, Duke Snyder and other greats) sold for $3,750. A collection of signed bats (Yogi Berra, Enos Slaughter, Bob Feller, and others) sold for $2,750. Trigger's saddle and bridle sold for $386,500 (EST. 100-150 K). One of many of Roy's shirts sold for $16,250 and one of his many cowboy hats sold for $17,500. One set of boot spurs sold for $10,625. (He never used a set of spurs on Trigger). A life size shooting gallery sold for $27,500. Various chandeliers sold from $6,875 to $20,000. Very unique and artistic in their western style. A signed photograph by Don Larsen taken during his perfect game in the world series against the Dodgers on Oct. 8, 1953, along with a signed baseball to Roy from Don, sold for $2,500. Two fabulous limited edition BB guns in their original boxes with Numerous photos of Roy, Dale, Gabby, and Pat sold for $3,750. A collection of memorabilia from his shows entertaining the troops in Vietnam sold for $938. I never knew he was there. His flight jacket sold for $7,500. His set of dinner ware plates and silverware sold for $11,875. The Bible they used at the dinner table every night sold for $8,750.One of several of his guitars sold for $27,500. Nellybelle sold for $116,500. A fabulous painting of Roy, Dale, Pat, Buttermilk, Trigger, and Bullet sold for $10,625. One of several sets of movie posters sold for $18,750. A black and white photograph of Gene Autry with a touching inscription From Gene to Roy sold for $17,500. A Republic Productions Poster bearing many autographs of the people that played in Roy's movies sold for $11,875. Dale's horse, Buttermilk (whose history is very interesting) sold below the presale estimate for $25,000. (EST. 30-40 K) Bullet sold for $35,000 (EST. 10-15 K). He was their real pet. Dale's parade saddle, estimated to sell between 20-30 K, sold for $104,500. One of many pairs of Roy's boots sold for $21,250. Trigger sold for $266,500. Do you remember the 1938 movie The Adventures of Robinhood, with Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland? Well Olivia rode Trigger in that movie. Trigger was bred on a farm co-owned by Bing Crosby. Roy bought Trigger on a time payment plan for $2,500. Roy and Trigger made 188 movies together. Trigger even out did Bob Hope by winning an Oscar in the movie Son of Paleface in 1953. It is extremely sad to see this era lost forever. Despite the fact that Gene and Roy's movies, As well as those of other great characters, can be bought or rented for viewing, today's kids would rather spend their time playing video games. Today it takes a very special pair of parents to raise their kids with the right values and morals. These were the great heroes of our childhood, and they did teach us right from wrong, and how to have and show respect for each other and the animals that share this earth. You and I were born at the right time. We were able to grow up with these great people even if we never met them. In their own way they taught us patriotism and honor, we learned that lying and cheating were bad, and sex wasn't as important as love. We learned how to suffer through disappointment and failure and work through it. So it 's good-bye to Roy and Dale, Gene and Hoppy, The Lone Ranger and Tonto. Farewell to Sky King and Superman and Sgt. Friday. Thanks to Capt..Kangaroo, Mr. Rogers and Capt. Noah and all those people whose lives touched ours, and made them better.

3 pointsI'm with you Duke. I already had my intervention. I'm down to just 4 from ? (theres been over 60 in the last 10 years). I also just gave away all my extra parts at Steve's meet & greet last weekend. It got to the point where I couldn't even move around the work shop or garage anymore. The most I ever had at one time was like 15 and it was ridiculous! I would never have left any sitting outside either so something had to give. I do however regret selling some of the ones that I did as they were some of the best original examples I had ever saw besides NOS but like you said, "Some times a guy has to do, what he has to do"!

3 pointsIf you are looking to upgrade your deck, dont worry about tracking down stuff for your current one. There are usually some decent used decks for sale (sometimes attached to horses still!), so browse through the for sale section or post a wanted ad and be sure to include your general location so that people know where they can help you out. With that much damage, there is a real good chance that you tweaked your deck and it will likely not mow level ever again. I highly recommend getting rid of the bramble and other non-grass stuff in your yard as you will be going through mower decks faster than belts . With 11hp I would not go larger than 42", even then you might see a bit of a struggle through the tall stuff. Like mentioned above, look for C series or 300, 400, or 500 series tractors and decks. All will interchange except the 37" deck, it needs smaller front wheels. There is a grader blade listed for sale on here right now in Michigan, these are not rare, but are not common either and can command a fairly high price. I had mine shipped from Maine, cost $80 or so in shipping. This can be shipped UPS. FEL (front end loader) are also not very common and will run you $1500 or so in decent shape without a tractor. I have never owned one, but I think the general consensus is that you will want a dedicated tractor for a FEL. The 520HC or 90+ 520's have heavy duty 1" front spindles and seem to be better suited for loader operation, but any of the C, 300, 400, 500 series will run them. Generators ARE rare and ARE expensive. Many just have them as collectable. You can adapt a belt drive generator head to work if you are handy, but I would recommend just buying a generator. As fun as it is having one less engine to maintain, the wheel horses are expensive generators and will only run a couple hours on a full 3 gallon tank. I got a harbor freight 7kw generator for the same price as I would have paid for a wheel horse one and it has a 7 gallon tank and will run for 12+ hours without racking up the hours on my horses. Have fun, this is an awesome and addicting hobby! And be patient, you will eventually collect all the parts and tractors you need if you keep a vigilant eye on craigslist, this forum and ebay!

2 pointsThanks Doc! I was in business for myself for 10 years as an HVAC Contractor before working for my local County. Many of those tools were in my HVAC shop. Funny you should ask that question Rich. I just retired from Berrien County this last Dec after 25 years of service, I worked at the Jail / Sherriff's dept. as Maintenance Supervisor for 23 of those years. 3 Years ago I was transferred to another building (Court House) in my home town 30 miles away from the Jail. Our County has two court houses. Anyways That was cool cause I didn't have to drive 60 miles round trip each day. The bad part is the building they transferred me to didn't have Jack Chit for tools and equipment. They asked me to design and fabricate 8 Life Ring holders because people were jumping off the Pier in Saint Joseph and were drowning. Soooo Ole Duke took on the challenge if they paid for all materials and my usage of my equipment. Anyway I worked out of my home for two weeks completing that Job. As you can tell by the Videos I will show, everyone got the credit for it except the guy who did it. But that's the way GOVERMENT is a bunch of thankless BA$tards! Here are some pics of the Jig and life rings I built and Video's. These were made out of 1/2 Steel Okay call me Okey Overkill! Oh by the way, I did make myself a Nice welding Table out of the scrap that was left over! Or was that extra material I ordered? Makes a good table to mix drinks on too! And remember Boys you stir yer drinks with a CRAPMAN Screw Driver! Beats welding off a short file cabinet I was using! ~Duke Click Link Below For News Video http://www.wsbt.com/news/local/life-rings-save-4-lives-in-berrien-county/27273102

2 pointsWhy am I getting the feeling of Deja Vooo? Well Jack all I can say is a job well done my friend! And the boys at Original Cab Company told me it couldn't be done! Yeah Okay I says, And thought to myself If there is a will there is a way, and it looks like Ole Jack has the will to me! Well Done Pal You Rock! Just for informational Purposes for everyone that may not know this, Those wedge shaped screened in corners on the rear of the LXI cab is for Fresh air to enter the cab for combustion air for the engine. I guess that's where MR KAWASAKI gets its air from. Seems to me like a guy would freeze his ARSE OFF! So what I did was order some red Fabric (Just Like Comes On The Cab) and I used some Vinyl Cement and you can barely tell they were there and it hasn't separated or peeled in 3 years. Another thing Jack (and I need to do this too) Take some Vinyl like decals are made out of maybe clear and put a 6" wide strip across the hood sides and top where the cab material touches the hood. If ya don't you will rub off the paint. Mine is just starting to scuff a bit so I plan to do this, this fall myself. Again Great Job! ~Duke

2 pointsI usually drive the bearing in about 1/16th inch past where the seal will sit. I dont really have a good reason why, I guess I just feel that there should be a little gap between the bearing and the seal. Having said that, I would be nervous about replacing that bearing without splitting the trans. As you have seen, when that bearing gets really worn then it falls apart, and the needle rollers go everywhere. You say you got the old bearing out, but are you positive there is not a piece floating around in the axle tube? Just waiting to jam up that NLA roller bearing on the side of the diff? Or waiting to jam between the teeth of some of the gears? Personally I'd split the case and make sure. Just letting you know the "worst case scenario".

2 pointsWell I wanted to start working on the 656 today but didn't feel like bending over to do it so I built this so I don't have to , still have to add the expanded metal to the bottom for storing parts as

2 pointsDoc, Well that's not my garage if you look at the last picture you will see a doorway to the right just before the lit up WH Sign. Through that doorway is my shop. The stable is an Add on to the shop. My shop is 24 X 20 and the garage is 24 X 30 And the stable is 25 X 12 Totaling 1500 sq ft. Yep I wished my shop looked that clean too.

2 pointsThe long, medium and short frame tractors are models with a horizontal engine crankshaft so those blades won't work on the 200-Series. There are likely other models of plow that will work on the 211-5 other than the 36-42BL01 but there may be slight changes. The 211-5 is a 200-Series tractor with a vertical engine crankshaft, 11 hp engine and 5 -speed transmission. A 208-x and 212-x will be the same basic design. -H is the auto transmission model. Look through this list starting in 1985 for the above tractors to see what blades they used. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/37-chart-an-attachment-interchange-1955-2000-110-pagespdf/ I think the pre-1985 blades for some the the B-Series were also the same. Entering a blade model number here https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro should bring up the illustrated parts lists so you can compare the differences. Garry

1 pointThanks for the advice, it is very greatly appreciated. So I cleaned her up a bit the other day and took a few runs around the yard. This guy in low gear feels like it will pull a house down lol. I was tempted to chain it to my van (like a UPS step van but full of tools) and tow it about. So now I think I have a problem that only 12 steps will solve..... A search on craigslist and I found this... I guess i cant upload anymore pics. But I found a 312-8 with 409 hours. Bought it up right away. Best part is I didn't even get in trouble with the old lady Changed the fluids last night and ran a few mowing passes and Im in tractor heaven
