I would like to take the opportunity thank everyone who made the trip today. In typical fashion everyone ended up pitching in and it became sort of a work party.... Jay brought over a monster chainsaw and cut the tree stump like butter. After a little while he asked if I wanted to cut anything else... Hum mm sure lets cut down that big tree. After perfectly dropping it he cut it up and then Ken b and I dragged the splitter and split it all. Craig moved the rest of the topsoil with the 522xi ad loader down around the barn and spread it nice. I just need to plant the seed and hay it. Kyle (fast 88) had his work cut out. He swapped cab covers on my 520 and also thatched the lawn. I had a blast and am real tired now... Good day for sure!!

Yeah...and I caught someone else on my "dibs" tractor today too...

Connie added the finishing touch this morning. Had the rest of the herd out for a little sunshine today so we could sweep out the shed, it's been a beautiful spell of weather here this week.

With "The Summer that Wasn't" due to my accident and losing my buddy, Mrs. Sailor and I are going to be good to ourselves after all the recent trials and tribulations. It's a 7-day cruise from Quebec City to Boston. This is from the web, the Veendam in Quebec City where we will embark. It will feel good to be back at sea again!

Seems like the first cool night gets me thinking about the season change. I went out and test-fit the brand new 2-link chains on my 23x8.50 Tru-Powers I put on this spring. Everything fit alright, looks like they'll definitely help move the plow around if we get any substantial snowfall this winter! From the sizing, looks like they might even fit my 23x9.50 Turf Savers if I decide to get another set of wheels.

Ya, I'm not sure what Illinois was doing. I had to go with them until they lost...kind of like Northwestern. The first 4 weeks is for finding out how good some of these teams are...look at what northern Illinois is doing to Ohio St. You know as well as a few others here...the MAC Conference is not the weak sister any more. Minnesota surprised me..especially after what Illinois did to Kent St.. Air Force was never going to beat Michigan St. I am really starting to hate Maryland though. They have become the nemesis pick....I am 1 win with 2 losses with them...and now I do not know how good/bad Illinois is. If I ended up picking the Iowa game this week....BOOM-SHA-KA-LA-KA . life IS GOOD.

So a friend of mine bought a new lawn tractor for himself and was going to scrap this last year. I have fond memories of my parents neighbors old Wheel horse from when I was a kid ( which he still uses almost daily). So I offered him $100 for it all and picked it up with intent to repair. Its been sitting in my dads barn for the past 2 years and now its time to decide its future.. It runs pretty good save for a little blue smoke. I changed all fluids when i first picked it up. Here are a few pictures of it all. Very curious what you guys think here. I would very much like to get it somewhat restored. The main reason I grabbed it was because it has the snowthrower with it. I have a long driveway and this would be awesome. Its only a 10 hp so im not sure if it would be worth the trouble for the snowthrower. Anyway, looking forward to what every one thinks. Thanks Tom

I'm sticking with my 1st instinct picks. I have learned the hard way about changing your picks in mid-stream. Besides that...I have had a vision...and this time I did the spin the Rock & Rye bottle...no way I can go against that combination.

Picked up this grubby nasty 417A today. I have no intentions of keeping it and it will be in the classifieds soon, but it was a good deal, not a great deal but a good one. Came with a 48" plow that is in good shape minus the paint and does not have the wear bar ground away like most. Also came with a 42RD deck that seems to have good quiet spindles but has a nasty rot hole . Has WH plastic wheel weights...question...did the plastic weights only come in one size? These seem to stick out really far, but maybe that's how they are. I don't have any to compare them to. It runs but not great, I may have to give the carb a scubbin, the tranny seems fine and the hydraulic lift works. Pics of course..... Mike...........

While on vacation we came across this Cicada bug. I told my wife if she grabs it, it will scream just like a woman's scream. LOL I didn't think she would fall for it but she has no problem with bugs, snakes, animals ect. She decided to try it and took this video with her phone. It's never to early to start getting ready for winter months if you live in a place that sees much snow!!!! Just finished getting the snow blower ready. Removed all shields, cleaned all the old grease off the chain and bearings. Washed it up, put lubricant on the chain, and gave it (2) coats of Snow Jet...... I have tried every thing that has been mentioned to use, and I can't find anything that comes close to Snow Jet. Just an amazing product that does exactly what it claims......... Just a few photos of it cleaned up. Looks shiny because I had just finished putting on the (2) coat of Snow Jet.

Tom, I believe I remember helping push the 1045 on Stevasarus's trailer, lol ! Man , ya got yer work cut out for ya on this one ! Hang in there , buddy, she'll look like a million bucks someday .

Dennis, if I had to guess, I'd say I could crank another one out in maybe 80 - 100 hours. Balls out, around 2 weeks if I stayed at it all day, every day. It's the cutting , fitting, and welding that take the most time. I started this in July, although I didn't work on it every day. Sometimes I would just sit and stare at it for an hour , figuring out how to make something fit or work. If I had to change anything at all, I'd make the carry-all on the back wider and a little longer, but that's about it. Mechanically speaking, the drive belt system and the steering system are already figured out and I would not change a thing. Once those 2 major hurdles are done, the rest is just cosmetic and it can look however you want it to. Making the fenders and seat and other sheet metal fit could be done a lot of different ways . As far as happy goes, YES ! I'm very happy ! It should be as dependable as any other Wheel Horse , let's face it, they were built to work and mow hour after hour, year after year with very little trouble as long as you do the proper preventive maintenance now and then. This should be no different. p.s. - ( no hood ornament, I like the gas cap, is all ) Oh, I forgot to tell ya, I'm still tweaking things here and there, today I added some arm rests. Guess where I got them ? Heheheheheheheeeeeeeeeee.....................................

Man! I've got a MUCH BIGGER NH TC35 with FEL and backhoe, box blade, landscape rack and more and a bunch of little GTs and yet for some reason I sit here and I'm very envious! I love my little C-85 with dozer blade but I just have to have a little GT with a FEL! I've even got a front scoop like a Johnny bucket, but I still got to have a little FEL. Doesn't even have to be on a D. A C-XXX or 4XX or even some off brand! Hey, maybe I should plan on putting one on my 520 Lxi. Rugged front axle and PS! Maybe then I could get over this lusting!

Welcome to the forum. Do the simple things first. This model has a 15 amp charging system. Check voltage across the battery posts with the engine not running. Then start the engine and see if the voltage increases and to what voltage. Check the terminals at the voltage regulator and the plugin connector to make sure they are clean and tight. Turn the key to ON without the engine running. Check the voltage across the battery posts. Red to (+) and black to (-). Take note of the DC voltage. Now move the red lead to the DC+ terminal on the voltage regulator. You should have the same voltage and if not fix that. This checks the path the charge current takes to get to the battery. Another reason to make sure this is good is these regulators require battery voltage before they will regulate the charge current. The aluminum body of the regulator requires a good ground which is accomplished by the mounting bolts. On older tractors the chassis often looses the ground through corrosion. You can add a ground wire to the mounting bolts and a good known ground like the battery ground cable - either end. Next is to check the AC voltage across the other 2 stator wires at the voltage regulator. Pull the connector off to check. Should be more than 28 volts AC with the engine running. Rev it up. To be clear I didn't bring the beer. But when I entered the man cave where the toys were kept he made it aware that the fridge was always full. Thanks for the info on everything. Had my first test drive. Runs great smoke went away, steering and front bearings are tight. Very comfortable to drive. Bad news I sold it. It leaves next week. Too soon I think. But I do have a a sickle bar and tub added to my collection. Next week I will get that bar on my other WH and post some pictures. I suppose I will have to look for another great deal. JoeBrew comes from my home beer brewing.

I think this week is going to separate the men from the Hawkeyes, Irish, Tarheels, Blue Devils, Cornhuskers...that's all I got!!!

My first C120 is now running good, but mower deck have som bad bearings.. i ordered new, but got wrong bearings and are waiting for new. i also bought one more tractor, 1975 C 120 8 speed. this is with 42" snow/dozer blade in front and home made 3point hitch with snow/dozer blade

marvell mystery oil put it in a spray bottle lightly spray it wipe down, leaves a satin finish penetrates the original paint and doesn't leave a oily residue or odor that oil or WD gives,I use it on all my original horses & very pleased with it.

Power brakes are for sure in its future. I just have to round up the parts. It sure does take a foot fill to stop it, ya gotta be prepared and I keep my distance from people in front of me. New decals for sure. It does have a wood floor in it, came like that from the factory...

Some mention fender washers under cab frame mounts on the foot boards and it would be a good idea. I stiffen up my foot board by spot welding a 3/8" rod under the lip. They were bent and gave every time I got on, they don't even give any now. Pictures below.
