HA! Made you look! Ok, its not four WH guys but rather my four machines. Did some rearranging in the shed and they were all out at the same time so why not snap a pic. No time for a bath for each one so you get to see em all grungy. There was a time I had almost 15 machines....its hard to imagine that now . So the line up is: 1964 1054, next is a 1966 656 with a Honda 5hp yank start, then a 1984 GT-1600 8speed with a Magnum 10 where the 16hp Briggs twin use to sit, and last is my 1984 C-165 8speed. What do they do? Well the 1054 gets hauled to shows for putting around on and never see's any kind of chores. It also does not have a PTO. The 656 is strictly transportation thru the woods trails and once it was brought to a show. Its really just a cobbled up machine. I may try to find a short frame plow for it and slap on some weight and try shoving snow this winter. Its hands down the thriftiest machine I have ever owned. Its actually a great show putting machine since its quiet as heck! The GT-1600 does all the work around here in the winter and occasionally get a mower deck installed. It always has the weights on it with 75#s on each rear wheel and 25#s on the fronts. My C-165 rarely see's the outside of the shed but in the past has seen snow clearing duty and has been used to mow the yard a few times. I probably wont own this one much longer and it will be missed! Mike.......

The first mental picture that I had when I read the title was this grizzly image. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was your trouble-making horses.

Got the old horse clean this week. New key switch , carb rebuilt , completely took the tractor apart and gunked down the whole thing then gave all the small parts a bath in the parts washer, made a new electrical harness, put on a new drive belt and air cleaner. and finished it all off with a new plug, oil , wirer, and setting the timing. Went for a spin around the neighborhood today, lost count of all the smiles and waves I got as I passed by .

It was 62F here this morning. That was all I needed. Took the deck off the 314 and put on the wheel weights, chains, and snow plow.

I think you mean these two here...remember? The good guys live up north?

I rebuilt this tractor 4+ yrs ago and it came out looking good. Should have kept it, it went to Northern Illinois to a Power King collector, so I know it got babied..

It's got to get colder than 62 for me to start prepping for snow, but I'm putting the plow on the 416-H soon. With my upcoming back surgery, I will not be able to plow my drive, so I am hoping that I can teach my wife how. She hasn't even driven the 416-H much less work the hydro lift and snow plow. It's going to be interesting. On second thought, maybe I should hire someone to do it.

Somehow I knew what to expect here Mike since we already had a pic of two other Red Square troublemakers this weekend (LOL Just kidding Craig and Glenn) !!! Anyway, good pics of some differing machines all grouped together. No apologies for them being grungy, that means they see some action, and that makes them interesting

Well I was finally able to convince the kids that the time had come to let the swingset go... Buyer had it disassembled and taken down but I still had to move the 6" of rubber mulch. Used my new 522xi with loader and the rock rake on the back of the C195 3 point to smooth it out. Next will be to get some topsoil and plant some grass...

Someone stole one of the Red Square members photos to send me a birthday card today. I enjoyed it a lot!

If it is only a light snow you could blow it off with a side discharge mower.

Hal and I enjoyed meeting Mr. Schmidt. It was surprising to me that he lives 5 hours away even though I am mid-way (west to east) in North Carolina. Hal and I bolted a new seat on the 314Hydro that Hal bought from me while Mr. Schmidt was there, and I'm sure we did not impress him with our combined skills. LOL The threads in the bottom of the seat must have had some powdercoating in them and we had a heck of a time mating the threads on the new bolts to the threads in the seat. I'm hoping Mr. Schmidt can make it to the Big Show in 2016. On to the next pic sent in by Bliksem: I want to see more pics of that 512-D !

Well i've been hard at it today working on the C121 first thing i did was make sure it ran good sense the gastank was no good i hooked up the gas line from the B-60 to it and jumper cables from the truck I know this looks kinda bad but it worked and the the C-121 started up and ran great i had to oil a few things up sense it had been sitting for so long. I took a chance when buying this not knowing if anything was good but so far im happy! I got the gastank switched out and new gas line put on too and got to ride it around the yard its a pretty sweet ride and the deck is nice and quite but needs a new pto belt the one on it is way to wide and rubs everywhere. Just need to change the oils and give it a better cleaning

Hello I have this tractor that has been in my family for a long time. I used to plow driveways with it for money as a 10 year old. I believe it is a 1965 Wheel Horse lawn ranger. I am trying to figure out how much it is appraised for or how much it would cost to fix it up to make it into the tractor it should be. This past winter I replaced the hoses, spark plug, added chains, changed the oil and did some overall work on it. It has always been garage stored. Here are some pictures. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

If it snows before Thanksgiving I'm going to blame you!

Now... don't go and jinx us Ed. I'd like to see leaves change color before the snow starts flying.

Straightened a bent fence post this morning. With the engine at fast idle the tractor didn't even notice. Think I'll be pulling shrubs soon.

One observation I had...the MAC CONFERENCE is strong at the top this year. Watch out Ohio St., they play Northern Illinois this coming week. Second observation...the Big Ten is finally getting some wins against the PAC-12. Third observation...Maryland does not deserve to be in the Big Ten. This is your tough to pick team this year, they will win when you do not think they will, and the other way around. Forth observation...I saw that ankle twist on the Notre Dame player...ouch. ND games may get hard to pick.

I think the older C's are just built better. not as flimsy with the sheet metal. Better paint quality. I've seen C's left outside and the paint fades and they rust some. Leave a 3-500 series outside and they rot out and paint comes off in sheets.
  23. 3 points
So one of the games I thought for sure that would have been an open/shut case, Maryland! ARE you kidding me. BG gave them a thumping they won't soon forget! 2 Top 25 Teams fell already. Who would have thought Toledo would have taken down Arkansas, and BYU takes down Boise State! RC

If nothing else... I'll get this one cleaned up, put back together... give it a yank, and see what happens. At this point, I've got nothing to lose here.

Yea, wish I had done that, everything is already painted. Too far to drive from MO to GA , maybe I could mail my tractor

Win, lose or draw, (2) of my losses were 3 pointers. Oregon had a chance to win..... They also could have tied in and went to OT. But they went for the win and ended up caving under the final minutes of play. Colorado State forced the OT, and lost. (2) very close games that could have went the other way..... RC

The C-1x1's were the starting of what would be the 300's, 400's and I would say the base for the 500's. They were the backbone bread and butter for Wheel Horse. With a Kohler K series in them except for a Briggs thrown in just to keep things interesting, they were very simple to maintain and with just alittle TLC here and there they would outlast anything on the market. They were what I call the foundation, everything else that came along, though they were good tractors just had fluff added to them. The C-1x1's were a no noncence, no frills get it done garden tractor.

It was very neat... Add to the fact that we are both Marines, separated by 40 years as well... My wife said, "Leave it up to you, 60,000 Craigslist adds and you find a Marine WheelHorse Owner" Irony...

I own a 300 and 3 C's but would you please share your thoughts and reasons for your preference of Cs over the 300 series? Well Dennis, It's just the sheet metal. For me I like the looks of a C a bit better and definitely the real hood latch. Some 300's have 6" front wheels and I don't care for the looks of them. Other than that there's really no difference.

Morning all, my back has kinda put me out of action for a while, so only a small update as it's all I've managed. Now.. A couple of people have told me I'm mad for making my own wheel PCD adapters and I should just buy some!! All I can say to that is I'm making them because I can All it's costing me is time... Lot's and lot's of time! Starting with a slightly heavy 40mm thick square of steel. The center has been marked with a punch and a circle drawn so I know where to slice the corners off. This is a bit hard to see but here's my workings out to see if the wheel PCD adapters could actually be made and the two PCD's didn't clash! As always when trying to get a 4 bolt PCD inside a 5 bolt PCD somewhere two of the bolt/stud holes are going to be close! They get even closer when you put a socket on the wheel nut! If your confused it may help if I mention that the small circle next to the socket is where a stud will be for bolt the new wheels onto. And the wheel nuts for the Reliant axle will be countersunk so there is no wheel/stud/nut clearance problems.. Once the corners were sliced off the slab went on the lathe. One side was faced off and a couple of grooves cut to mark out the PCD's before I started boring out the center. Once the center was bored out I turned the slab around to start on the other side. Just about on the size limit for my lathe here! If the diameter been a 1/4 inch wider I wouldn't of been able to get a cutting tool on to make the slab round! I'm just glad that after 8 years of owning the lathe I managed to work out how to bolt on a bracket and some cogs to give me power feed up and down the bed! It does make lathe work a bit boring but at least I only have to turn the handles half as much

Thanks to Van "Wheel-N-it" and his friend Hal this 953 is now home. I bought the 953 in April and planned to pick it up at the "Big Show", but the need for spinal surgery got in the way. James "Jrblanke" was kind enough to bring it to North Carolina and Van stored it for me until I had recovered sufficiently to retrieve it. Today was the day and I had a great time meeting Van and Hal and look forward to meeting James soon so I can personally say "Thank you" That is Van on the right, thanks to Hal for snapping the photo.

The 1054-A was 1965 and after model. Not much difference but front tires were one different feature. Our 1054-A has a 50 inch sickle bar mower mounted on it.

Welcome! Dont apologize for asking questions. Though there is a HUGE amount of information here able to be obtained by searching, if you cant find it or just want to chat, post away! As I mentioned in the chat box, you probably wont have enough room for tractor, plow AND mower deck (unless you are a really clever stacker!) so I would recommend borrowing or renting a trailer. It is also MUCH safer than riding a big heavy tractor up ramps into a truck bed.

Also, you might want to check the key on the input shaft pulley.
