My turn at a Wheel Horse in the mirror story. Sorry its not a mirror picture, all I could get that way was tailgate and a hint of red peaking out. A big thank you to a great member of this forum. He was willing to part with his beautiful 1995 520H. Low hours and it even has Matt's foot pedal. I am one really happy guy this morning. Now its time to retire my well worn out 1993 520H. Kurt

I spent Labor Day stuffing my trailer, and hauling booty north from Green Bay to the 520 ranch. The latest is a '95 with 390 hours and a ton of extras, including a nice 2-stage thrower with all of the original parts, a new 42"deck, a near new tiller. weights and chains AND a single bottom plow and spring tine. Everything is there, all the springs, bumpers, cowlings, levers and manuals. My trailer looked like it was pregnant with Wheel Horses! It was such a haul, that all the other 520's had to come out and look! More pics to come when I can figure out how to get around the file size problems.

I know this might sound kinda hokey coming from me, but I'm thinking about something like a virtual prayer circle here. I just got news about one of our brothers who is facing some serious medical issues, and... I was hoping, without naming any names...we as a group...could send up a little prayer for one of our fellow brothers in need.

It is finally time to find a new owner for this masterpiece! We have a few little adjustments to do, but she is pretty much ready for a new owner to add it to their collection!!! I am SO proud of all of the kids that have had a hand in bringing this machine back to a beautiful tractor! The tractor is not perfect, but a beautiful functioning machine that many students labored over for many, many hours. It does have a few scratches, but they tell a story of hand on experience from elementary students. If you would like a chance to own this beauty, you must follow these simple little steps. 1. Grab a piece of paper, put down your full name, your address, and a phone number. Also, write down what your bid is. In other words, what you will pay if you have the highest dollar amount. 2. Place your bid in an envelope and mail it to: Harrison Elementary Attn: Scott Mehlberg 1300 Husky Trail Warsaw, IN. 46582 3. All mailed entries must be received no later than October 2nd. Entries can be submitted to me in person no later than 12 pm October 3rd. 4. At that time, club members will open all bid envelopes and reveal who the new owner will be of this awesome project. The tractor, and as many club members as possible, will be on hand for my 6th annual tractor show. This is where the winner will be revealed. The reserve price is set at $500, so any bids below that will not be accepted. All checks should be made out to Harrison Elementary. All of the money raised will go back directly to the kids and their future projects and tool needs. This is a very unique machine that was so generously donated by Mr. David Rice of Crawfordsville, IN. Without him stepping forward and taking a chance on all of us, I doubt we would be where we are today. In the near future I will make mention of the many amazing folks that played a part in helping us to reach our final goal. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I will be accepting sealed bids as of now. The winner does not need to be present to win the machine. If there happens to be a tie, we will have both top bidders resubmit a new bid. I will be available this Saturday at the Mentone, IN tractor show and swap meet. Here are the kids the first night of tractor club 2 years ago!

WHX5, could they be used with inner tubes in them? Got the exhaust system finished today while my Honey stained and varnished the woodwork. Miserable hot here again today , had to call it quits for awhile.....

Well guys--just like that I found one! It isn't perfect, needs some TLC for sure but it is a genuine WH 523Dxi! Came with a 60" deck and the 44" two stage snowblower! I'm planning to go through all the filters and fluids just so I know that everything is fresh. The only thing that really bothered me tonight while cutting with it was the engine temp gauge ran just a hair under the red the entire time. I made sure the screen was clean and the fan was operating. So, not sure if the gauge is a little goofy because the warning light never even flickered and it didn't travel into the red. Other than that, I really enjoy my first cutting session on this heavy duty machine... That was a trailer load with just those three items! Glad I have a heavy duty tandem axle rig!

Hi Everyone, With some feedback I got from you all on the forum I am going swap in a 23hp Briggs and Stratton Vanguard V-twin engine conversion kit from smallenginewarehouse.com I spoke to Zandy on the phone with a bunch of my questions and he was very helpful to me. I am hoping to get it Thursday or Friday by truck delivery. I am hoping it goes well in the swap and I can cut grass again and use my old snow blower attachment from my old C-120.

Got my newly acquired tall chute gone over and mounted it on the restored C - looks so good I'm half tempted to blow snow with it this year vs the 315

A few tractor buddies drop by now and then , but not too often. Most of this stuff ends up on Facebook in a couple groups every few nights. Now I have started posting here since 857horse started this thread. I don't want to be a chest beater or blow smoke up anybody's ass, but if I get an idea I like to share it, save guys a little money here and there, and I want to keep the Wheel Horse hobby alive as much as anybody. There aint any other brand for me, I've had one since 1973, it was my first, a 753, and I fell in love. They are the most simple tractor there is to work on, if you have 3 wrenches you can tear one completely apart in an hour or two.

No Jim, Wheel Horse got a little smarter in 61 and put cast foot rests on them instead of the bent diamond plate steel. I tried to load a picture but something isn't working right at the moment. Check out the 61's in the gallery. The diamond plate is pretty flimsy. I used Bondo brand plastic metal on the steering wheel because I already had it. I don't see why any body filler wouldn't work fine.

I think there is some kind of cumulative total. Non supporters have to either delete old photos to make it work or upload off site to photobucket. But I support for two reasons, to help with the expenses of this great ad-free forum and to keep my pictures archived here. All off site pictures will eventually end up moving and breaking links and ruining valuable old threads, when I can archive them here and I know they will always be there through any changes or upgrades. But if you feel less than persuaded, photobucket is still a somewhat-decent free alternative. I was a mod on a forum that had no storage to speak of, and everyone used a free service for uploading pictures. Eventually, the free service closed, and every link was dead, pretty much ruined the forum. At $20/yr, or $35 for 2 years, supporting the forum is cheap and easy

That money must have been burning a hole in your pocket Joe. Gotta love the sickle bar tho! Please Put this recoil on it for now, starts 2nd pull cold & always first pull when warm. Compression is real strong! Rode the fence lines and fed deer with it last nite! @‌Racinbob What was the name of the product that you used to smooth out the steering wheel cracks Bob, going to pick some up when I get to the big city. Gotta love the ingenuity here Wish all trannys were this easy to ID

I currently own a 520 LXI that I restored/refurbished and have been using it for mowing duties with a 48" deck. I love the machine and makes cutting the lawn a real pleasure. Surfing CL as I always do I came across a 522 xi with kwik way loader, 48" deck, plow dual real ags and a set of turfs, and rear weight box filled with concrete. I offered it to a friend who passed and ended up buying it due to the good deal. I figure I will end up keeping it. Used it a little tonight after unloading it and runs great with only 422 hours. The issue is the pto switch works for only about 10-15 seconds and then kicks off. I am hoping it is a switch issue and not the pto. Ordered a new oem switch from killians on line tonight. The tractor is a 2000.

Oh, btw, what do you mean you had another shower? Didnt you say the other day you had your "monthly scrub down"! Lol I probably bought the one you saw. I agree, the 520 skeleton is best, but I have to figure in cost of the skeleton, travel to get it, etc. I would have to find a cheap skeleton for it to be worth it. Otherwise I would have a $2,500 (or more) 520. I splurged, two showers this month.

I've got a replacement set of Oregon 91-805 blades I swap out with whatever it came with (I think OEM), both in good shape. I'll switch them two or three times a season and touch them up with a file. Keeps them sharp with little effort, about 5-10 mins per blade. I'm not sure anyone else makes a 14" blade, but subscribed to find out.

Nice 520. Is your old one still running? I am thinking about building a 520-h, or possible a 520-8, and need a good rolling chassis

Love the raw look of the recoil on that motor with the HD filter cover Bud, you sure do have a talent I envy! I have a few of those tires with the WH on them. They don't hold air and are somewhat dry rotted but you have inspired me to clean them up, try and paint them and use them for shop decor!

Before I came a supporter, I tried the photo bucket links, but its just a pain in the Rear! Go to one site...copy link...open new site, paste, etc! Spend the pocket change and support, open and upload away!

I feel bad. Mine are all slopped-up with mud from working on the driveway and hauling wood. I don't think any of them were ever that shiny, even when they were new! Maybe I will wax one, and see how it turns out... Great pics!

Is oil leaking anywhere else? Could be a clogged or improperly assembled breather forcing oil out wherever it finds a spot.

She sews and cooks good, too ! She restored the seat on the 700, bought and matched up the materials and stitched it back together by hand. She loves our tractors as much as I do ( that's half the battle, lol ). I have given her a couple tractors , the 700 and a 654, which is awaiting restoration, but she uses it around the yard all the time for chores. Oh, and YES Wheel Horse branded their name in many tires. They are the original tires.

Here's one I couldn't resist, I took a Harley Davidson horn cover and made ( or "re-purposed") this. I lay for stuff like this on eBay and nail it when it when it's only a few bucks. It looks sweet on my K91. Dennis , all these are mine ! My wife's steady hand lettered the tires on the 700, she used a small brush and silver paint.

Thanks all for you very nice comments, I'm blushing, lol ! I'm just an old mechanic. I am gonna be a Supporter soon, will get that done shortly and then I can do some more posts ! This 700 WorkHorse is one of my favorites, I did the aluminum grill trick on it , cost maybe 3 or 4 bucks, ( Actually, I'm a cheapskate at heart, hehehehehe)
