A few of you know I'm in the North of England - UK. I've just moved further North into the Yorkshire dales. (think Harry potter) - Look up James Herriott and malham cove It's taken over a year since we saw the place to selling ours and the money exchanging hands. Here's a few pics of the Horses in their new home and also put to work. Once I get internet and the time I've some videos too

Hello everyone, First time wheel horse owner and thought I would introduce myself. Just bought a C105 with mower deck, wheel weights & chains, and snow blade attachment. A great do all tractor for my property. Runs like a top, but thought it would be a great fall/winter restoration project. I am so glad I found this forum. It is full of great information and knowledgeable individuals. Thank you everyone! Bacdo.

Might be they were thinkin... one day, a squonk is gonna come along, that will need a good project?

If it's just aluminum on the crank journal, and I'm guessing it is, hydrochloric/muriatic acid will take it off. Outside job! But brush some on, then some more until... Crank might polish out without turning it!

Best to post some pics of your machine to get accurate information about that particular tractor.

What's the compression? You need 3 things to run. You have spark and fuel. did you check compression? Maybe a valve too tight and hanging open or sticking. Did you take the motor apart?

Better start making room....these RED HORSES really multiply fast.

psi is how hard the media hits the workpiece cfm is essentially how MUCH media hits the workpiece less cfm means a smaller gun nozzle and therefore more time to clean the workpiece

I think I found a 56, but not sure. Is there any other differences between the 55 and the early 56 ?

Starting to get the winter sheet metal ready for Ezra. Got another hood and it's complete except someone decided to paint the headlight lens and hood ornament. Why do people do this?
  14. 2 points
@kudzu3 Just passing on what another friend taught me! What we are here for! That bearing/journal looses lubrication, heats, expands and eventually grabs so tightly that it won't turn any more. Bad thing because something breaks but unless the crank was scored before, it's usually ok. Good luck with it! Fingers crossed!

think of it this way, maybe if they didn't re spray it the bonnet/hood would be all pitted and rusty. someone repainted my bonnet with the complete wrong colour and used a door mat as a brush! (at least that's what it looks like) good luck with the clean up callum

You MAY be able to save that lens.. New are about $40. Use a little bit of lacquer thinner to dissolve the paint. If you scratch the lens, slowly sand out the scratch with 1000 grit sand paper....then buff it with crocus cloth

Bringing home your first means... you're definitely going to need more storage space.

Jim, I did that for the benefit of all you Wisconsin guys that put up with us Illinois guys that come to Wisconsin deer hunting. I have known farmers that paint COW on their cows so they don't get shot by those FIBS I have had the opportunity to spend many a summer on the farms of my relatives up by Turtle Lake, Wis. doing hay, corn, beans, milking cows...etc. My first love was an Alis Chalmers. I have always thought that when these Wheels Horses grow up and ripen...they turn orange. BTW...I can tell the difference between the smell of dairy, pigs and sheep...I really like the smell of a pig farm...that is my favorite. But, you just have to love the English country side that Meadowfield is showing us...fantastic pictures.

Yes, I go through at least 6 bags, maybe more - I do the large pieces outside and cant recover it. Heh, I have a pretty large area around the corner of the shop that has this strange looking black stuff everywhere

Just note that even Black Diamond at 8.00 a bag can add up if you are blasting with a can or outside and not capturing/recycling the media.

S/Jim Nice looking commando 6. I know people do not like these little tecky`s. But over time I have grown fond of these little tractors. The most of the problems deals with the carbs anyway. But they are cheap to replace. If I was closer I would be knockin` on your door. Enjoy it. Gary B.....

And more CFM with a too small compressor means a compressor that doesn't keep up and doesn't shut off. Lots of good info here: http://www.tptools.com/

Presuming there is enough to get a pipe wrench on it; use an oxy- acetylene torch to heat the entire diameter of the pipe at the end where it meets the block red hot then turn it out with the wrench.

The hood is rusty and pitted! lacquer thinmer got it off. The lens is not one of the raised horse head lenses, but it's a good lens

I feel your pain. in most cases it would of looked better if they never would of painted it if you don't have the time and resources to take one apart and buy new decals and do it right their doing more damage then good Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

It has an automatic compression release so an accurate reading is hard to get. I'm thinking 50 psi minimum.

"69 Charger V8 came with an Eaton 6 hydro, don't think it has a Sunstrand. Can you shoot a picture or two? If you don't have a 1000 RPM drill I'm not sure you could learn much using a drill to drive a hydro.

Looked at my belt guard and it doesn't have ANY stiffeners but mine is a very eary "60's. Those repro belt guards are nice! On the idler mount it is a shoulder bolt as Bob shows I see you have my penchant for stainless hardware Bob....and whats with the nifty WH on the end of the tranny input pulley?!?!...only to cover it up with a belt guard!

The predator engine is inexpensive, starts easy, is very compact, and has a nice amount of power. I bought one to put on my 308-8 and with some easy modifying, had things running well. My biggest complaint is that it rattled the teeth out of my head, wow. any piece with a small amount of play -like the rod that holds the front of the hood on-will make a lot of noise. I removed it and put a k series 14 horse on and was amazed at how smooth it was.

Yes sand blasting can warp tins if not done properly, if your sandblast guy told you that I would look for someone that knows what they are doing.

I have 850+ hours on my 1992 416-8. It's been at 850+ for 6 years now. So I guess I'm only going to get about 850 hours on this Onan. Unless I get a new hour meter for it.

sounds like a plan to me! if you use a hole saw to cut the hole for the new filler hole first (make it the same size as the old one) you can use the metal blank to fill the old hole maybe? save making a piece of metal to fill it when you can make one while drilling the new hole! i'm not a welder so i don't know the ins and outs! just an idea that may or may not be feasible callum

I am sure your local muffler shop could bend the pipe so it would exhaust to the rear of the WH, attached a wagon or trailer to support the magnaflow and you would be talk of the neighbors.

I keep two broken 130"+ V-belts hanging on the shop wall which I use for measuring belt sizes. One is a 1/2", the other is a 5/8", both ends of both belts have been cut square. Whichever is required, I thread the belt on the pulleys in question, making two measurements. One with belt tension, the other without. I mark the middle of these two lengths and measure from the end to this new mark. I round shorter to the nearest inch and you have your belt size. I.E. if you performed the steps previous, you used the 1/2" V-belt, and the measurement was 86"; go to TSC and get a 1/2" x 86" belt. Hope this helps.

Figured it out! I took the gauge wheel bar off and checked it, everything was straight. No solution there. I found two wear points that contributed to extra play: the pin that sets the gauge wheel height was worn through about 1/3 the diameter, and the gauge wheel height plate (with 5 notches) was spaced a little far away from the height lever. This meant that the pin was holding all the weight of the gauge wheels/deck. I added a little filler metal with the acetylene torch to build the pin back up to regular diameter and slid the height plate closer to the height handle so the handle takes the force instead of the pin. The other wear point was the mid mount attachment bar. One of the spacers/sleeves had worn on the side, allowing the attachment bar to slide left somewhat and wear further. I added more filler metal to build the sleeve back to normal and gave everything a coat of paint. I reattached the deck and mowed Saturday, and got rid of the uneven side-side cutting. I'll post some pictures if anyone is interested. Also, if anyone needs this done let me know! Mine was driving me crazy.

Started another project this fall, I decided to install a 10 HP Chinese Diesel in a rescued C85. I worked a good price from Carroll Stream this spring on an engine and when I picked up the C85 in WV, I thought that would make a good fit. And like everything else I do, it got a little carried away! Frist thought was making a worker, now slowly turning into a show pony. The C85 black hood worked well because of the vast room under the hood. I made up threaded mounting blocks from 3/8†bar stock for mounting the engine. The engine was too close to the top of the hood to allow the compression release to rotate; I made a new hood hinge and raised the hood 3/4â€. A small teak on the side of the hood using a bar clamp and that made enough room to clear the air cleaner. Then came new paint, tires, a stack, (with chrome tip), a sleeve hitch and much more. It is now about 90% now. Hope to be done next month; I will shoot more pics when completed. Thanks for looking. Joe

Man, I must be gettin old. For me? Its Southern Rock whenever I have to wrench. Gimme some Lynerd Skynerd or some Molly Hatchett. Toss in some Marshall Tucker and some Blackfoot and I am a Happy boy. The ICING on the cake? Roll in some Outlaws, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Allman Brothers(with Duane of course) and toss in some David Allen Coe and a touch of John Prine to finish it off. As far as country goes? If it was done after about 1985(IMO)? It ain't country... I had to use that date so I could get Rodney Crowell in there. Johnny Cash's X- son in law. C'Ya Bye
