3 pointsI have been transferred from recovery to rehab following spinal surgery. One of the side effects of lengthy anesthesia is that my GI tract didn't want to wake up; we think things are going now, two more spontaneous BMs and. I can go home. Wish I could be going to the Big Show but I will watch on the web cam.

2 pointsThis was my Fathers day present to myself. It has unknown hours on it but runs well and all idlers are nice and tight so I think hours may be low. Only thing to make me think otherwise is the steering wheel is polished smooth. I have not mounted the 48" deck yet because I had to order a belt for the bagger. Not shown in the pics is the plastic tube from the bagger blower to the bagger itself. Deck has some weld repair but seems real solid and all moving parts spin properly. Cleat

2 pointsLast year when I posted the picture of Mrs. M's cookie bars, I went back outside and promptly rolled the Commando 8 over on my leg. Let's hope for a better outcome this time.

1 pointWelcome! I too am not able to make the show, so I cant help with that... BUT if you post a wanted ad here (down in the Classified section) you may have luck with either the guys at the show or even some that are not going. Good luck to you! Maybe also give a general location so people will know if they are passing nearby.

1 pointTurned out real nice Steve. I think the hub caps on this machine really make it pop and add some class to it. I'd leave em on...

1 pointYou are going to hear the same story from most of us . . . I started a Raider 12 three years ago and thought I'd have it at the first show Many hours and $$ later it's finally done for THIS year Work, home projects, camper projects, family time ..... Just keep at it Best part of any of it is the friends made here that most of us would not have otherwise known

1 pointI get these 1" push-in rubber bumpers on ebay, they are 5/16" thick so I sand them down on a belt sander to the thickness that is a snug fit when closed, the ones along the side I put in backwards so the smaller rounded end makes contact,

1 pointThe 75-48XS01 is a 1977 48" deck for a D-Series Automatic. 7=1977 5=mower 48=width of cut XS=side discharge 01=parts list identifier Is the 36" rear discharge deck on the C-175? 1980-1982 model 05-36MR01 1983-1984 model 05-36MR02 I could also be an older or newer model. This file helps you identify mower spindle assemblies and tracks the changes made to the assemblies over the years. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/671-chart-spindle-id-mower-rotary-1969-1989-35-pagespdf/ Click on a mower in the index and it will take you to a single page showing all the spindles used and available for that model of deck. 1 pointThat's good news and THANK YOU for updating your thread with the final result!

1 pointI never had an issue using an impact wrench set at 120 pounds and a very high quality puller with grade 8 bolts. Pops em right off. If using this method, be sure to protect the end of the crank where it is threaded. I just popped another one off of a 14 last week.

1 pointSo here I am, two days out from leaving for the big show, and at 6:30 this morning, I'm in the garage painting the black on the front of my hood. Well as of this weekend, I had serious doubts that this 416-H "refresh" would be wrapped up in time. But, I have persevered, and here is where I am 7 hours after putting the last paint on. and 5 month, 23 days after starting the project. I think she's coming to the show.

1 pointJust wanted to show off my new Toy. I think it's my fathers day gift. It was at a auction today. Wasn't going to go because I didn't think I could afford it but my dear sweet wife said you never know & told me to go anyway. It's a 855 with a Freeman Pony Loader.

1 pointDon't worry about it too much...I am pretty sure that someone there would have a tractor that would make him grin and let him ride just to see that smile, always next year...sides don't wanna rush a good thing and this ain't reality show..just good people. ..

1 pointYou all are a right nice bunch. I went to my local parts supplier and he gave me a Stens that was an exact fit. Wonderful. The lever you push or pull to engage/disengage the hydro for free-wheeling, well it wore an over-size oval. The bolt itself is undamaged, which makes me thin someone replaced it instead of correctly fixing the issue (If this is an issue). Since I replaced the pulley, the belt has skipped once but so far it's perfect. In the midst of moving to a 1920s farm house, and trying to keep up with the 3 acres of horribly overgrown lawn and trees growing in the gutter, your help here at this forum has been invaluable. By the way, do any of you know how difficult it is to get the tractor to the roof to mow the gutters? I'm thinking of removing the gutters...

1 pointIt is pretty much done. Need to do some more touch up and cleaning and paint the rims. Going to get footboard pads from Eldon at the show and a shifter cover. Overall nice clean worker.

1 pointI didn't think about this until Lane posted. At 15 it's not old but I'll bet this would attract some interest in the Netherlands. Unlike the state universities a contribution directly to Notre Dame had to be made and they would send a confirmation letter. There was probably the usual additional fee at the license branch as well but I don't recall for sure.

1 pointThanks for the plates guys, here's a pic of where they will go on the wall. This was when we were remodeling it amd doing some much needed maintenance
-
1 pointSteve: You can have these for Koen's friend! Not that old but Hoosierland and Florida might look good too !
-
1 pointI am looking for some old car license plates. Koen (C-101plowerpower), in the Netherlands, has a friend that has a drinking establishment and is looking to decorate it with that kind of stuff...no money here...just donations...but appreciate the help. I would take them at the show and mail them to Koen. Thanks

1 pointYou can get 2000 ~ 2500 hrs if you run a diesel oil, changed often. No longer does SM or SN oils have proper additives for flat tappet cams. Diesel oils do. So Shell Rotella T1 SAE 30, Mobil Delvac SAE 30, and Valvoline & chevron makes some. During the winter Shell has a 10w-30 diesel oil. -Warm up engine at 50 - 60% throttle, NEVER EVER at idle. The dipper will never sling the oil to the cylinder, and you will create an oil burner in very short order. -Operate at 100% full throttle during hot days so you get proper airflow. Regardless of internet rumors you can operate a little slower when you are not loading it down much & overheating it. But if you are mowing, run it wide open. -Regardless of oil type, never ever extend the oil change beyond 25hrs. These engines shred metal, and there is no way to filter it. -Fix & repair the throttle shaft busings in the carburetor. These will loosen up around 700-800 hrs on a Walbro carb. This is an instant source of dirt entering the cylinder. -Inspect every year the rubber hose going from the carb to the crankcase breather, these dry rot, or fall apart and also let lots of dirt in. -Make sure to decarbon the cylinder ridge, this will eat the piston alive. Attached is one that was never done. It is now in need of a rebuild. This needs done every 250-500 hrs. I prefer to do it at 250 as you never know how bad it is until you look. If done at 250 you can reuse the headgasket. At 500 you should replace.

1 pointThe new goose neck will have 10ft of living space and 28ft garage so we can do both. Already have orders from the boss there will be NO stove
-
1 pointOh I bet HF sells a few of those engines now. That is a great job and excellent post. Thanks for sharing this. 22 horses at a third of the cost. Lets hope it runs for a long time to come!
-
1 pointI also think you did pretty good. I sold mine for 900 a few yrs. ago to a loving home. The only attachment I sold with mine was the mower deck so at 1400 and with all the goodies you got with yours you done good.

1 pointI volunteered to do some drywall repairs at a nephew's house the other day to pay it forward from when I was sick, he helped me mow my grass one time. He said he would pay me for the repair work and I said I would have none of that! He said fine and I went to work. He was remodeling his big living room. I repaired the drywall with no problems and went back 3 times to remud it and sand it down smooth. During the work he mentioned he was going to install new base boards but wasn't good at doing carpentry work. I am a carpenter so I volunteered to do the base boards in the room and the casing around two big windows. He said that was cool and mentioned if I would do that then he would just give me his old mower that he had in the garage since he knew I was a mower freak! My ears perked up! I asked what kind did he have and he said a old zero turn mower! I said I would like to see that, so we went out to his garage and under a ton of junk was his "old" zero turn mower. A Woods Mowing Machine with a 2 cylinder Kohler Engine with 605 hours on it! We took off all the junk piled on it and it was a sweet mower in great condition! New bar lug tires, new spindles on the gigantic 60 inch front mounted deck, new $300 drive shaft and a dead battery! He said it runs just needs a new battery put in it! He said he got tired of it breaking down so he bought a new Scagg zero turn for $8500.00! This Woods mower is about a $3000 to $4000 mower I figure! The mower deck lifts up in the front for easy cleaning and blade sharpening and maintenance! A very cool option that his new mower didn't even have! It even has head lights! This thing is a brute and it is about 7 feet long! I will clean off all the dirt and dust from it sitting unused for more than a year and it will look like a new one! I will do the carpentry work pretty soon and haul the Woods mower out of there asap! Kaching!

1 pointFinally got around to sanding, priming and then wet sanding the tins last weekend. So this morning it was off to Stevebo's house to shoot some green paint (He wasn't to thrilled about running green paint through his gun). We got it all done and now it's all sitting in the "Wheel Horse" barn overnight to cure. He didn't want any pictures of it happening and I obliged him and didn't take any. Well low and behold I got home and my son who had come with me said "look at the picture I took of Steve painting the John Deere parts". So here's the proof:
