6 pointsReturned home Sunday night from a long 4 day weekend adventure - 6 hour road trip, van breaking down, son puking in back seat of ma's car we borrowed, oh ya it was a trip. Sat down at about 9 pm and picked up the local shopper's guide paper. Once in a while there's a deal - but considering the paper arrives Saturday at noon, and the neighbor is worse then I am at searching, I usually don't take the time. That night things were different.... There it was - 1997 520H Wheelhorse, 44" snowblower, weights, chains, Cab, mower deck (never used), low hours, runs great. Price was unbelievable. Being late I text, got a response. Said it was 350 hours approximately. I called, he said he bought it used years back, paid alot of money - didn't use it and gave it to his daughter to use but she just couldn't handle it, too big of a tractor. Set up a time to view it - thinking someone else would sneak in to grab it. Thats ok, got plenty of bills and wasn't sure how to pay for it anyways. But alas, it was still there when I arrived Monday night. As I pulled up the driveway, I could see it parked in the garage. I knew it was going home with me. But the guy was way off on the hours...... there were only 116....... Wow - as my buddy put it, sometime God just smiles at you - So the entire package: 1997 520-H Original Brand tractor cab, with rear lights 44" Two Stage WH Blower Front Mount Kit 42" RD Deck (Mower deck and front mount kit never used) Rear wheel weights Front wheel weights Chains Rear ballast box Anyone have a ballpark of what this cost in 1997? I think the brochure showed $5295 and I'm thinking that was just the tractor correct?

6 pointsI rounded up the horses for a group photo! the 520-H with 488 hours and a NOS 48 inch deck. Also the 60th anniversary 2007 315-8 with 162 hours. Last but not least the 212-6 with 902 hours. The 520 has SOO much power!! I also got the 212-6 all shined up and prepared to the show.

3 pointsToday Was going to be a cool day compared to the heat wave that we have had for the last week. With a bit more than a week to go for the "Big Show," I decided to stain the floor of my new trailer. Went early to buy the materials and came home to scrub the floor clean. I was just finished and was walking down the ramp when one foot slipped and the other leg ended up under my butt. I then fell the rest of the way to the ground. PAIN! I ended up laying there for a short time while I gathered my wits. My right knee and ankle didn't feel quite right. I called my wife at work to tell her (1-1/2 hour away) and then tried my neighbor as the other two neighbors weren't home. No answer, so after about fifteen minutes, I decided to try and stand. I was able to get up but my right foot didn't move with my leg. Uh Oh! Hobbled in to put ice on it when my neighbor called back. She came over to bandage me and stayed while my wife came home. A trip to Urgent Care to find out that I have broken my fibula. Tomorrow I go see the Orthopedic surgeon for the prognosis. At this point I am certain that I will not be able to drive to the show. Darn!!! If I can be mobile, I'm hoping that "Mrs. Sailor" could drive me up for Friday. Ironically I was going to mix anti-slip sand into the stain.

3 pointsI didn't think about this until Lane posted. At 15 it's not old but I'll bet this would attract some interest in the Netherlands. Unlike the state universities a contribution directly to Notre Dame had to be made and they would send a confirmation letter. There was probably the usual additional fee at the license branch as well but I don't recall for sure.

3 pointsGoing to be there Friday AM with Jeb and hopefully a new Wrangler Unlimited with lotsa space for red things......

3 pointsWell getting stuff dry fitted. The 12 auto is still subject to change but the 603 and trailer are deff.

2 pointsI'm surprised someone hasn't made one. Why not take a Hydro, remove the engine, pop in a nice modern electric motor to drive the hydro, and fill the cavities with batteries!
-
2 pointsKind of reminds me of the old "A, B, C" Wheel Horse sales brochure from the 70's. Nice
-
2 pointsOK...make sure they give you a smooth cast so we can order decals from Vinalguy. You really did do a number on it.
-
2 pointsSteve: You can have these for Koen's friend! Not that old but Hoosierland and Florida might look good too !
-
2 pointsFull throttle would be about 3600 rpm I believe that your sickle was designed to work with the older tractors that had 2.5" drive pulleys. You might try the outer pulley on your PTO that would slow it a bit and run at half throttle. Sickles do not need much horsepower.

2 pointsSteve, here is the plate. Black and yellow one on the left

1 pointHey guys! I'm new to the board and thought I would share my project. Growing up my dad bought a 1976 B-100 that I learned to mow on when I was 6 years old. It was the first motorized anything I ever drove. Over the years I spend a serious amount of time on that tractor and learned everything from how to operate a clutch to back up a trailer. Fast forward 25 years....dad stopped mowing with the B-100 because the engine had lost compression and power. It got put in the corner of the barn for 5 years and he bought a used 92' Horse. Two weeks ago, a good friend bought a zero turn and had a 96' Horse that was spotless. He asked my dad if he wanted to buy it and he pulled the trigger. Having no room in the barn for the B-100 he asked me if I wanted it. Heck yeah! I swung by that week with the trailer and brought it home. I thought I would start with an engine rebuild and mow with it but as I started to tear into it things got out of hand. I decided to do a full show quality rebuild and am currently finishing up the paint work. I used PPG epoxy primer and Urethane top coat. I am currently doing body work on the sheet metal to fix a couple dings that were probably from me or my brother growing up. Last night I pulled the K241 apart and am dropping the block and crank at the machine shop tommorow morning. Turns out the top piston ring was cracked and had a loose piece floating. I expected to find a piston with "STD" on the top but after cleaning up the top it has a single "1" stamped in the top. Not sure if this is a standard bore or a 0.010 over? I guess I'll find out after it gets to the machine shop. Here's some pics of the progress!! Back form the media blaster....time to smooth out the metal. Epoxy primer on,,, Laying down some glossy red!! Fresh coat of Sherwin William Linen White paint on the wheels.. Mower deck coming back together...

1 pointHere are some pictures of a GT 1100 I am making narrow. The tractor isn't pretty but it runs well so I figured it as a good candidate. I still have to get the hood back on and clean up everything then paint it but here are some pictures. I used a 90* steering gearbox from a bus.

1 pointWhile this one will be ready before the show I am hoping it will not be coming. I am planning on filling the truck with parts to sell and only 3 tractors of which two are riders and one will be my restored 55'. My boy will be running around on the 59' RJ and i will be riding the restored C160.

1 pointEcho makes great stuff. I have 2 saws, 1 trimmer, 2 water pumps, a hedge clipper, a blower, and an engine powered drill. All are well-used and still run like new. Dad still uses the 24 year old curved shaft trimmer (GT2100) weekly. Never a hiccup, never a problem. Use good oil, and they last for years. I think the newer stuff runs a little leaner than the old stuff for emissions reasons. Did you notice the trimmer head spins the opposite direction from your GT curved shaft? That took me by surprise when I switched from a GT to an SRM260 10 year ago. I think they offer a "high torque" version of some of them that has a deeper gear reduction. Even without the split boom, you can still equip your trimmer with other accessories. They offer a tiller/cultivator attachment and I think they sell (sold?) an edger as well. Steve

1 pointRedmax looked intriguing, but no dealers in my area support the product. Echo, stihl, and huskq all seem to have the best support.

1 pointGeez, I would have trouble keeping track. I am constantly getting hurt. I slammed the seat pan on a Commando 8 down on my arm 3 or 4 times before I got smart enough to put a prop under it. Non tractor related my right arm is kind of dead from slamming it into door frames I walk by constantly

1 pointJohn was at my house last Friday. Little did we know that I could have given it to him right then and there. But oh yeah, he hasn't been awarded, just nominated. My baaad... And even if he doesn't win, I'm giving him your share of Mrs. M's cookie bars.

1 pointMy sandblaster got these tins turned around in less than 1 day. Picked them up after work today and got them in primer. There is a bit of bodywork required before I paint. I just ordered more valspar hardener. By the end of the weekend I hope to have it ready for paint.

1 pointSomeone gave me a 1986 308-8 wheel horse that didn't run. Today I drained all of the fluids, pulled and cleaned the carburetor, pulled the gas tank and replaced gas lines and clamps. I pulled the starter and replaced a missing spring under one of the brushes. Re-gapped the spark plug. Reassembled everything and it fired up!! Gave it a quick wipe down after taking it for a spin in the rain. I'm excited to degrease and pressure wash the frame!

1 pointI was thinking it was dry when you got it but maybe not. Of course you're gonna have to plug the hole in the side cover. That's a good bolt to remove to drain the case.

1 pointGave dad a call late this afternoon and asked him if he was up for a 4 hour road trip. Next thing you know the trailer was hooked up and off we went. Had a great time chatting after yet another Horse. We haven't gone after many lately so this was a good time for both of us, especially since it was a bucket list tractor. this one is far from perfect as it was used to mow the lawn and blow snow in the winter. I know, hard to believe right? She has some dings but with some TLC should turn out ok. Some of the chrome will be redone in the future, while the rest isn't too shabby and should polish out ok. It has 772 hours on the working meter and is #85 out of 200. Some damage is a little disappointing, but the most important thing is that it exists. This one has been owned by a few folks and the seller was unaware of what he had.

1 pointBring everything! You and the kids will love it! Make a memory....

1 pointItem 21 part number 1482 has been replaced by Toro 103118 for 1-1/4" shaft A Chicago Rawhide/SKF replacement is CR12330 from places like Napa Item 22 part number 1232 has been replaced by Toro 100863 for 1" shaftA Chicago Rawhide/SKF replacement is CR9815 from places like Napa Notice the CR/SKF part numbers are close to the shaft diameter. Best to take the old seals with you to verify the above part numbers are correct when ordering. Garry

1 pointWell, Ive got my favorite mug already packed...got my list of things I am hauling out for guys and I got my list of things I am picking up to haul back for guys. Looks like I will be hauling a trailer, so I will have to buy some raffle tractor tickets...I kind of hope they do not call my name...as room will be a factor. I have gotten into some meditation this spring. I was fishing the other day and near the shore line I saw this shiny thing in the water. It turned out to be a DVD for nude Yoga...the models are great. I can't believe anyone would have thrown this out. This is going to help me make it through listening to kids running Tecumsehs mixed in with Kohlers all day for 3 days at the show. :orcs-cheers: Om...Om...Om
