So my job has me traveling often and one of my "worksites" is Pearl Harbor. Been there maybe 15 times but never had the time or was with other folks who had already been and didn't want to go again to the Arizona Memorial. I just got home today from a 3 weeker so I had a couple Sundays off and was alone for part of the time so I went. I am so glad I did!! I'm not a museum guy and if I'm in one I usually breeze right thru.....but at the Arizona I spent almost 4 hours taking it all in....the movie....the boat trip...the memorial...the museum...and the grounds. They open at 7am and only have a limited number of tickets per day so I was there bright and early at 6:40am and I was still a 100 or so deep in line and when 7:00 came there were probably 400 people behind me!!. I got my ticket for the first showing of the movie which then leads directly to the boat to take you to the memorial. At the memorial the first thing you notice is the smell of oil which is still today (after 74 years) leaking slowly out of the battleship. You can see it coming up and then hitting the surface and quickly spreading out. Getting there early meant the water was calm and I could see a whole lot more than you would if the water was disturbed by waves. The feeling out at the memorial was somber and there was no loud talking, screaming kids and no one yakking on their cell phones....it was a very respectful crowd. There was a tour guide who was full of great stories about the Arizona both before and after the attack. It was interesting to learn that Elvis Presley was a huge contributor to the Arizona Memorial project! Of course I remembered my camera...here's a few pics (and two selfies....I gotta learn to smile). Mike............

if you have an incandescent test light (not LED), substitute the test lamp for the solenoid and check the lamp lights with the engine and ignition switch in the RUN position. diodes can sometimes check reasonably well in the ohms position on the multimeter but fail under actual use. a test light subb'd for the solenoid will check for this condition. I will be interested in where 20 volts came from in a 12 volt system.

Just remember where you got that Sea King 5... I had that tow coming to me... My brother and myself went on an all week long camping trip. I must have run my boat 3 miles for every one that he did. I was circling the wagons all week long jumping his wake every chance I got and there was Ole DaveB all by his lonesome, even his 3 girls ditched him too ride in Uncle Kens fast boat. It was hot as hell that week and going 5 mph just wasn't putting a smile on their face. By the end of the week Ole DaveB was gettin a little testy. He caught NO fish, he had a sunburn and he was gettin a little tired of my wake jumping act. (I can be relentless..) But on the other hand all the kiddies were havin a great time. I even offered numerous times to let him run my boat as much as he wanted but he is too proud for that nonsense. And then, it happened. I was out running my boat WFO and then she just died. Kaput, game offer. I pulled the carb off floating down the river and found that the float had a crack in it causing it to flood the motor. Since I didn't have any bubble gum on me to fix it I had to give Ole DaveB a shout and a wave to c'mon over. You were more than happy to oblige, you would think the guy just won a million bucks, he finally had a smile on his face and the spunk was back! Hey, if that is what I gotta do to make someone happy then so be it! It's kinda funny, I stayed close by to him all week because I really thought that I would be towing HIM in.. Here is the boat, at the time the sunshade, steering console and trolling motor weren't on it. Though not really a vintage boat or motor, this was one of my favorite boat's and I hauled in a lot of fish on this one. When I bought it from the previous owner he told me that I'd catch a ton of fish with this boat and man was he right.

My First is a C161 twin 8 speed which came with a 42 inch deck snow blade chains and wheel weights. Traded a John Deere Lx188 48 inch straight across. BEST trade I have ever done!!!! Bought new blades for the deck thinking I could keep up with the 8 yards I mow. I spent 8 days in the Hospital for foot injury and while I was there it rained for 6 of the days and the grass got tall, took me over 5 hrs to mow, Had to mow the yards twice just to make them look good. So I took the deck off and going to use the C161 with the blade only and to move my Trailers around.

Brings back memories of me towing in a really cool looking Duranautic boat with a really fast Mercury Mariner 20hp that just wouldn't restart after running circles around me all day. Someone had his fun all day but every dog has his day and KenB had his. It wouldn't have been so bad for KenB but you see he needed a 5 mile tow back to the dock and I was happy to oblige with my really butt looking Arkansas Traveler with a really slow 1947 Mongomery Ward Sea King 5hp doing the towing duties. I think it took me 2 hours to tow him back in but I loved every second of it. Whenever I looked back to see if the tow rope was holding I never saw Ken in his boat. I never did figure out where he went.

I bought it, starts and sounds good. The deck is real clean, it needs front tires and a good going over but I think it is a nice rig. Plow and snow blower came with it and a book with parts list.

After going through 3 canopies since 2010 , I am taking delivery on a new professional model 10' x 15' red canopy this year. Cost is almost 3 times that of those I've had in the past, so I hope to get a few more years out of this one. Any contributions to the cause will be rewarded with some of Mrs. M's cookie bars.

I'll have to admit I didn't make them. One of the guys at work who is also a machinist part time made them for me at his shop. I didn't have the metal stock at home and asked him for a small piece of aluminum rod. He said just give me the dimensions and i'll make them for you. He works the same shift as me and dropped them off at my station today when he and his crew were passing by after training out on our fire boat today.

That is an acid wash same as Metal Prep. Good stuff. Wipe it on. Use a metal cleaner like Napa Final Wash. Prime and paint.

I guess Jason is becoming the "new RickV" -- Didn't Rick make trips like this in reverse 5-10 years ago??

No, sorry. I never replaced it. What is "the safety function"? I don't recall it doing anything other than engaging the PTO.... ?

Made the change. What I am thinking is when a forum has a new post THEN put the WH logo? How do you think that would look? (it would apply to all)

Got the hood adjusted right for the first time, my daughter taped off the Hood and I sprayed the black. She also applied the rear decal. Her hands are steady. LED tail lights installed. Took it for a test ride worked fine.

Andy, I dont think the 680 is actually to "glue" the two surfaces together. I think its going to act as a filler to help spread the forces equally on all surfaces. This will be to make for the minor misalignment of shaft and coupler. I think it will also help cushion the splines on sudden force changes. I just dont see 680 holding both pieces together with that much vibration for very long although there is a lot of surface area so I may be totally wrong. Either way its not going to hurt.

My family had obtained an '88 211-5 with a bagger from my aunt when she moved to California and didn't want to bring it with her. I was about 8, and I'd ride it for hours and hours. And then my wheel horse gene hid dormant for a few years up until two years ago. And well.....since then.....we all know :)

Not a well written article. Don't miss the point that in addition to a $13k tractor he apparently bought $12k worth of attachments. Like a "shovel", whatever that is. A loader perhaps. $25k for his setup is almost as outrageous as $8k for a 48" deck 420LSE in 1986. And the 20 minute hookup for the drive-over deck must have been a mistake. They certainly meant 20 seconds. Steve

Start it up and let it warm up until it stops. Once it does, pull the plug, connect the plug to the coil wire and see if it has spark. I would assume your coil/s are bad.

I used to work at a dealership in Middlefield Ohio. It was H&H Hardware. I don't remember the dates it opened or closed. There is one that is still open, I believe, in Brookfield, Ohio. (Trumbull, County) It is called Galati sales and service.
