7 pointsI'm happy everyone is ok and the damage wasn't too bad. The last time it was the ice age that took out the Dinos. Now it looks like traffic and women drivers are out to get you.
-
6 pointsI've been looking for a 520 and lo and behold, I got one. (with a few small extras) Got this all as a package deal.

6 pointsWhat's going on out there in WH land?? I came across a C195 here a week or two back. It just so happens it turned out to be an 84' which I have very much grown to like. This one will undoubtly will see snow blower duty this winter. That will give the 82' a rest this winter. Thinking I might throw the grader blade on it for shows this summer. I was looking for a seat pan an found one. It will need the panel cut in two different places for the hyd. controls and also the fuel tank. Here are a few pictures, I will Not be adding duels!!!!

4 pointsEveryone got the shooty shoot Mike. It is a piece of SST I found John. The chute deflector control was made from a throttle control off an old hand mower. I know it's not Hi Tec, but I have in cab control of the chute rotation and deflector..and it works. Here's the rubber pad on the auger Glenn. It closes the gap between the auger and the blower housing. Also added wheel weights (50lb each) and rear weight (150 lb) and front chains. The rears were chained and loaded with washer fluid. Changed blower drive pulley from 5" to 4" to increase auger RPM and make it possible to change blower belt w/o moving the pulley. Motion foot control and heat collector are not new, but both worked well last winter. The cab stays 30F higher than outside temp. We'll have to wait a few months to see how the new mods work.

4 pointsNice score John. I hauled mine down to my Mom's house yesterday and cut about an acre of grass with it. My Dad's Craftsman died and I couldn't leave the grass uncut on Mother's Day..
-
3 pointsWhy do I work on snow blowers in the summer and mowers in the winter ? Anyway..made a few mods to the blower today. How many can you spot?

2 pointsSo, I'm sitting down here in the Man Cave watching TV, when this woman tried to drive into my house. The Man Cave is right on the other side of this wall. It sounded like a gas explosion. It was raining and she lost control of her vehicle coming around the corner. She is OK, but she will be a little sore for sure. My wife...she was running around upstairs yelling..."some one hit the house!!!" Pretty scary.
-
2 pointsthis is a mayfield merlin only 109 ever made between 1966-1968 the green is before i restored it
-
2 pointsI'm trying to imagine just what a "gas explosion" in your "man cave" actually sounds like? Really glad to hear everyone survived it Dino.
-
2 pointsRock solid house (Brick is always best), and the trash can looks like it survived OK. No skid marks on the grass, no brakes?

2 pointsButch, I think he said to "drink Miller High Life out in the cow fields, and come back with an empty can"

2 pointsThis topic has been around the horn a few times, only in different shades of "grey". Chuck - while the L110 probably is a good quality "lawn" mower, I think the topic was "GT". Garden Tractor..... I am sure an L110 would fail miserably being used as a garden tractor. It's just the world of today we live in when it comes to what we see that is mfgd. today. Small gardens, maybe even no gardens, has diminished the need for a mower that is also used as the garden tractor. Additionally these 3 items come into play: Economical - the mowers of today use half the gas they use to burn on the same sized lawns. EPA standards Cheaper - Customer driven, "I want to pay less" and still have a John Deere! Faster - Meaning the cut of the lawn. "I don't want to spend 2hrs. on my lawn." As someone stated in the thread ZTR's are dominating the market. Put all 3 of these together, plus my opinion, on 1 more item: Laziness - The youth of today would faint if they had to go out and do some "real work". I am sure there are members in here that have raised their children to understand that manual labor will not kill you. But for the rest of the world, Well - just look at how many info-mercials we have now compared to 15 years ago, on how to lose weight, cut calories, get into shape... RMC

1 pointI have completed mod on JD Thatch rake I bought last fall. Have always like/wanted a front thatch rake for the Horses as I had 1 a few years ago on a Simplicity Conquest. It worked excellent and was able to tow a sweeper so was a 1 pass setup. It was not very difficult to modify. Made a mount for tractor from angle and spracers. Welded it all up and utilized holes already in frame. The rake mount frame needed shortening so pivit point was not too far forward as would be rake too. Lift lever was a little trickier as Had to go on same side as impliment lever. I made mount for it from a solid steel block (overkill but wanted to thread it). Made a couple bents to clear everthing and it functions nice. Then stripped the awful green/yellow and sprayed with IH red majic from TSC. Not a perfect paint job (couple runs) as was first time using catylst etc with enamel. I'm happy with the outcome as it's just a rake after all. MU

1 pointI cant believe I haven't seen this posted yet. This is the only one I can make it to, so I hope to see plenty of other Horses represented! Wednesday, May 13th through Saturday May 16th.

1 pointI had a listing on ebay for my 96' 520 with 60" deck. Got to taling with a potential buyer and he offered up his C160 plus some cash on top. He is from Rochester NY and I am in CT. He made the trip out to my place today to make the trade. I would think it is about 5 1/2 hours each way...He is a really nice guy and knows his horses for sure. He has traveled around the country buying out many Wheel Horse dealers back in the late 90's. He went to the 2nd annual Wheel Horse show in PA but then life got in the way of his hobby so he sold a lot of his stuff and lost interested. He did manage to restore this one back in 07'. Did a nut and bolt restoration including rebuilt motor and tranny, auto paint, upgraded front end to the HD spindles and all new wiring. Since his restore he tried not to really work it. He also has a 520-8 that he uses as a worker. He and I are both happy and I got some parts to boot. I am not thrilled bringing a tractor to the big show that i did not restore myself however i think this one will be there for sure. I plan on pulling the wheels tomorrow and painting them the correct white. Has a few touch ups to do no the rear end and throw on the wide 10.50 on 520 rims to give it the look I want. Here she is...

1 pointIn my wonderful days of youth, I wanted a Muscle Car. Nothing else would do. So at the age of 16, my dad signed for a loan, on a 1971 true numbers matching, SS Nova. Color, hood exactly like what is in the photo. 1 owner car, with all the documented up-keep. True 10 bolt posi, 350/275hp. Bench seats, auto. That was right around summer time when I got the car..... Fast forward 3.5 months. Now fall is setting in. I am not liking the fall weather and dad is starting to snicker a little about the Nova.... I believe his comment was something like "well, if you get up early enough in the morning, there is this big yellow thing that will pick you up for school". I certainly did not want to drive the Nova in the fall, winter months, and I was not about to ride the bus..... SOOOOOO, I devised a plan. Once day after school on a Friday, I went and picked out a 1978 Chevy 3/4 ton Scottsdale 4x4. Photo attached also. The story behind me getting the truck is to looooong to type, but the shortened version is this. I went to the dealership, let them know I wanted the truck, salesman said you are to young to purchase without a parent signing. Gave them the number and name of person at the bank I banked at and walked out with the truck. Salesman was dumbfounded and was still trying to pick his chin up off the floor when I drove away with the truck.... And they say farm boys are slow and ain't got a clue... I worked 3 jobs and still had a full schedule at school. However, I had enough credits my junior and senior year that I did not have to stay for the last 2 periods of school. So that got me some extra hours at 1 of my jobs to help pay for (2) vehicle payments, insurance, gas, maintenance, and storage for the Nova for the bad months......... Rob

1 pointI took advantage of my wife's Mothers day pool party and had the young guns get the 854 off of the pickup. My intent was to take it off in pieces.I have a naval hernea repair and am limited to max 50 lbs lifting. They were eager to flex their muscle and help me out. Now I just had to get it to the shop in the back yard about 200 yards. The transmission is locked up so I used the Raider tow tractor. The tow bar got bent a little but that is an easy fix. Now I can start my 854 rebuild.

1 pointYou got one tough house Steve! The worst thing I see in the city is people do not replace there tires until they have have no choice. They feel that they only drive a few blocks to work and as long as they hold air, there ok. I change mine when there around the 40% left make. The abs systems just have a hard time when your tires are below 50% . Feels like your accelerating when the abs kicks in and your not stoping. Glade there was no injurys!

1 pointI'll bet she was going 30 or a little more. It was one of those where you panic and lay on the gas...never hit the brake.
-
1 pointLooks like she wasn't going to fast....not a lot of damage...on he outside anyway. Dad had something like that happen and it damaged a little plaster inside the house. The insurance company paid to have the entire end of the house re-sided because if they just repaired the damaged siding it would have looked different than the rest. Glad no-one was hurt.

1 pointI see: Stainless steel chute front Rubber auger scraper Lower hinge/additional hinge point on chute

1 pointMaybe that's the problem.. I just came from my eyecare place with a new pair of glasses. I will bring the old ones to the show for you.

1 pointMy new 2015 work truck arrived here today... sitting in my driveway with a total of seven miles on the clock. Wanted the full size bed, as I'm tired of only being able to rustle home one at a time. The only drag being...I'm gonna need a new rear window decal, really hated to see that go.

1 pointSorry for your loss. I lost my Uncle, my friend Mike(cancer) and my Dad all in one year. Another co-worker was killed on a motorcycle on his way home from work the year after. It's all around us and hurts when it happens. We just have to look at the good times we had together while we were here and laugh. Again, sorry for your loss and Neil, so sorry for what your dealing with. I wish you well in the days to come. Prayers to all.

1 pointEnded up ordering some Carlisle super lugs in factory size. Will see how they run soon. Kind of excited. While doing research I've decided I want to get tri ribs for the front. Deestone makes a 3.50x6 that's about 3/4 of an inch taller. It's unfortunately a bit narrower too, so I'll need to source some 3" wide wheels. Does anyone know of a wheel that will fit without modification?
-
1 pointThat's ignorance speaking. The 15hp Command is An OHV aluminum block cast iron cylinder EPA friendly version of the old K & later Magnum series. It has a pressure oil system as opposed to the old splash lube. Unfortunately some engines leak and others never do. Just comes down to dumb luck. Just treat it right and enjoy. 1 pointConclusion: put Matts pedal kit on. Adjustment was a breeze. Never ran better. I highly recommend this conversion. It's a wonder Toro wheel horse didn't do it on the 520. Glenn

1 pointThanks for the welcomes, Jake would like to come down and see your tractors sometime, here is the one I bought last year came with a mower deck also and the one that got buried in the corner for a lot of years, really need to get it out now.

1 pointHumm...I'm thinking the eight foot bed... makes the new decal look too far away.
-
1 pointCheck the entire length of your gas line too by squeezing it. If there is a soft spot it can leak gas out slow. It won't leave a puddle because the gas will evaporate but look for something stained.

1 pointI will be there same as last year. That was my first show. The first person I met was Terry (vinylguy). The second was Bob Maynard. The only thing I am bringing are my 2 sons. Will try to make it earlier on friday so we can roam around the show for a while. Last year we got to town late friday went right to the hotel and didnt get to the show till Saturday. Looking forward to seeing old faces from last year and meeting folks I missed last year. The countdown is on. It was a great time. Btw, vacationed in the outerbanks half a dozen times, love that place. A great place for a wedding. Glenn

1 pointIt can't get here fast enough! The fun continues after the show for us. We're heading to 3 story, 3 bedroom, 3 bath log cabin on a mountainside in Tennessee. Our daughter, son in law and 3 grandsons from Indiana will be there when we arrive.

1 pointI see youtube videos of smaller garden tractors tossing around the 36" Brinly-Hardy disc harrow style discs but has anyone used anything bigger? It may be a stupid question or bad thing to do but I'm just curious. I'm thinking a 520 could theoretically be made to run a hydraulic line set out the back to lift and lower a larger disc. I don't see any reason why with some wheel weights and Ag tires it wouldn't be able to pull a larger disc. I'm not thinking anything huge but maybe a small double gang disc, something in the 4-5' range after taking the outer plates off of a 6' unit?

1 pointHere are photos of my 653. It is 100% original. Even the carburetor looks like it has never been touched. Although not currently on tractor I believe I may have the original battery that came with it. Also not pictured is a never mounted plow with the hardware still in the sealed bag. Tires still have a lot of the "knibs" on them. Cas .
