Figured it was about time to make the 79 C-161 black hood a " black hood"! Always did like the red, but the more black hood tractors I get that every time I look at the red, it just seems naked! Next will be the C-175

Well I came home this afternoon and pulled into my driveway and seen my Wheel Horses got out of the barn and trapped this John Deere 300. It was over before I even got out of truck. Big D made the JD 300 tap out in 3 seconds. Then the 314a with the kwik way bucket ended up scooping the JD 300 and dumping it down a cliff. Lol Tractor Fight

My first is a 416-8 with a front end loader. Bought it just to move some large piles of dirt around the yard and sell but once I used it, I knew it was a keeper. A couple of years later the backhoe was added. Never heard of Wheel Horse before I bought it.

He looks addicted already! My son is 2 and hes been riding on tractors for a year and a half already. If he could reach the pedals I'd be in trouble. I already have to wire a secondary ignition interlock on my tractors because he figured out one of his "play keys" can fit the ignition . (Luckily he hasn't tried to start it yet!)

I have completed mod on JD Thatch rake I bought last fall. Have always like/wanted a front thatch rake for the Horses as I had 1 a few years ago on a Simplicity Conquest. It worked excellent and was able to tow a sweeper so was a 1 pass setup. It was not very difficult to modify. Made a mount for tractor from angle and spracers. Welded it all up and utilized holes already in frame. The rake mount frame needed shortening so pivit point was not too far forward as would be rake too. Lift lever was a little trickier as Had to go on same side as impliment lever. I made mount for it from a solid steel block (overkill but wanted to thread it). Made a couple bents to clear everthing and it functions nice. Then stripped the awful green/yellow and sprayed with IH red majic from TSC. Not a perfect paint job (couple runs) as was first time using catylst etc with enamel. I'm happy with the outcome as it's just a rake after all. MU

It has been my son's dream since he was twelve years old, to be an Officer in the Marine Corp. Yesterday, my son, Jeff, was promoted from Staff Sargent, to 2nd Lieutenant, USMC. First salute as an officer from his dad. 2nd Lt. Jeffrey Thomas Evans, USMC.

My wife & I were on a "road trip" in Illinois Saturday. We crossed back into Indiana for the trip back home and stopped to visit with a good friend in Greencastle Indiana. We visited with Lane & Ruth Ralph (Lane Ranger on RS) for a while. Lane sure has a lot of Wheel Horse goodies to look at and to drool over!! We really enjoyed our visit with Lane & Ruth. Here is a shot of Lane & I.

I haven't attended a show with my stuff and hung out since Zargay two years ago. This was the first Saturday I had taken off this year, and was good to be out here for sure. The weather was perfect, and we had an awesome time. I only have two pics from the show, but they made my day. I ended up hanging out at John's tent with Russ and Mike. Was good to see everyone else as well like Ken, Steve, Vin, Matt, and meet Dave, Brian, and Jason as well. Was amazed at how big Cole and Brennan got, but I guess my kids got bigger as well. The pedal the kids and I made worked out pretty well, and they drove around a good part of the day. Thanks again RS family.

Rediscovered I had this old thing hiding out in the magic shed. Came with, and manufactured by the original owner of my 520... configured with my additional plates, I'm estimating its weight now to be around 175 lbs.

My first wheel horse was my wheel horse 520-H, i paid $4000 for it in 1997 and I'm still using it today. Then later on i got my ole trusty 212-6 that i still use too. Thats how my addiction to these horses started. But anyways what was your first horse?

I have been wanting an auto wheel horse for a while and this one popped up advertised as not having a spark but it looked very tidy in the pictures. I liked the look of it a lot as it was original. I spoke to the owner and he was very honest and said that the wiring needed going through, I set my limit and luckily I won it. I did have a bit of a panic as my dad fell ill recently and is unable to drive but a good friend who is also a collector offered to get it for me! My plans are to try and source a hydraulic lift assembly for it and plumb it all in, it's definitely going to be a keeper. Anyway, I know you all want pictures so here it is: It also came with some weird sort of frame under the hitch, anyone know what this is and whether it's original? After I got it home I couldn't resist having a play and to see if I could get it running. I tested the coil, condenser and spark plug and they were all OK, cleaned and reset gap on the points but still no luck. I then ran a temporary wire giving the coil constant power from the battery and turned it over and we had a spark, put the plug in and off she went, a fair bit of smoke but it soon cleared, it hasn't been run in about 5 years so it was expected. The lack of spark was down to some awful wiring, here is an example of a join in the wire: This was just covered in insulation tape, the wiring is totally gone and I have decided I am going to make a new wiring harness. The only problems I'm having is finding a plug for the ignition, also what connectors do these plugs use? I think I have found some links to them in the USA but I can't seem to find any over here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking, Tom

My friends and neighbors think I'm "mental". Got this c125 with loader and sears ss16 with accessories at a garage sale for $1500. Wheel horse is in great shape. Suburban will run soon as I isolate lack of fire issue. Think its the condenser. I also resurrected a couple of abandoned tractors for minimal cost. Ward's signature 2000 and a K-gro sentinel. The craftsman dyt 4000 is in great shape except for a rod poking thru the engine block. Hate to see good stuff just thrown away. I had another c125 but sold it for a good profit. Been keeping my eye open for another one. Notice the high tech counter weight. Railroad track, fishplates, clutch parts, trailer hitch.

In 1989 I traded a very worn out 1975 Harley Davidson Sportster for my C-175 8 Speed which I still have and use. It had a 48 inch deck, snowplow, tire chains and wheel weights. I have all of them I would bet that whoever ended up with that AMF era Harley doesn't have it anymore! Still the best trade I ever made and no one has ever forced me off the road on my tractor!

I got a call from The Cleveland Clinic this morning. My latest bone marrow biopsy showed no signs of leukemia. I am officially in remission. Still a long way to go in the treatment regimen but taking things one day at a time. This is a good day for sure. Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. He is listening.

I thank all of you for your kind remarks. I can tell you that my son is as kind and as gentle a man as you would ever want to meet but when called on, he can be as tough and as hard as nails. He is a better man than his dad. Thanks, again: Tom

hi all, i know the A-800 ranger is not a popular horsey, runt of the herd if you like! but.. in a previous topic i asked about using my A-800 for some light ground engagement, the implements would be converted from pedestrian operated colwood mono tractor. it was suggested that the tranny wouldn't like that (as expected really). i did mention this project in the "what sort of ground engagement work could i do??" post but trying to keep posts on topic i thought id start a new one, also going into more detail about my big idea. so, here's my pitch: i'm thinking about turning my A-800 lawn tractor into the all new Agri-800 garden tractor! what does this mean you may be asking? well, i will be putting in a beefier tranny (i have one in mind), the popular front spindle to 4 lug hub mod, lifting clevis hitch, larger front and rear wheels, front weight block and many other little bits and bobs. so what do you think? I'm sure some of you will think it's not worth it but i like the A-800 rangers personally, they deserve a place in the WH community. thanks for looking and ALL opinions gratefully received, Callum

    702

First timer here. Recently purchased a 702 for my son and Im trying to figure out how to engage the mower. I have attached a pic to see if you guys can help me determine if that is the right belt, also included a pic of the machine. Also, any ideas where I can get extra hood thumb screws, lost one today. Lastly, would love to find a plow blade, is there a certain model/size I should be looking for? Thanks so much for the help and I look forward to trolling the forums educating myself.

A lot of you know I had a super duty, great truck loved it, but just had no use for a 3/4 ton. Plus it started needing things replaced and those trucks are $$$. I was looking at wranglers, while I like them, they don't fit my life style and I needed a truck. Shopped looked at rams and F150's got a pretty good deal on this new leftover 2014 F150, got a decent trade in too. The 5.5 bed left me needing a trailer and I sold my 6x12 last fall cause it took up to much room. I shopped at dealers for a 5x8 but their prices were crazy. I ended up at TSC with this 6x8 pipe top, I really like it and that it can fit big decks, but not take up a ton of room. TSC seems to have nicer trailers then lowes.

My son mowed for the first time yesterday. He has been plowing for years with his Charger 12. He graduated to the big guy now. Its been awhile since we last used it to plow. About a month or so to be exact. I was under the impression these had the 10 pinion limited slip transaxle in them and it always spun 1 wheel when it lost traction with a huge head of snow. I figured it was cooked because after plowing for awhile it gradually got slower and hotter as well.... After doing some research it had a Sundstrand 90-2046 not the 90-2062 it was supposed to have. I was able to pick up a 90-2062 Sundstrand hydrogear and swap them out. What pain in the hoosegow that was. But it now runs and drives again. I had some steering issues I had to work out but its pretty square now. At least for the time being. I really want to find a new/rebuilt steering column and probably going to repaint the whole tractor again. Its definitely a hard working machine and has won a soft spot in both of our hearts. So here he is mowing for the first time yesterday. I will say I dont like how the old style mower mounts. I wish I could swap out a tach a matic system. The mower doesn't float like I'm used to..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kEYp8tLgIw

Thanks all. Yeah at first I was ok with the red top hood but now that I've had 2 of them for a few years I don't like it as much, just looks naked with out the black. Especially sitting next to the other 2 original black hoods I have. I'm really a fan of the black. Waiting on decals now to put on the front of it. Don't think I will go with the original black and silver small horse head that you see on them. I think will go with the red and white 2.125" decal. Should really pop on the black paint. I can't remember the brand of paint till I get home to see, but it was a wheel paint from TSC store, matt finish, but has a good luster to it I think. Not to shiny but not flat.

Nice variety with the plastic and metal hoods. It is Interesting to see the different headlight treatment between the two. Also interesting is the evolution from the B-series of 1974-1977 headlights to the 300/400/500 series (and Workhorse) of 1985 on.

Nice 416! You made out better than I did for sure. It's either an 87 or 88 because of the Magnum engine. Very clean horse!

I picked up this nice D200 from a Redsquare member, Coldone. This tractor has a 3 point hitch, rear PTO, turning brakes, and what I consider original hours=262. I am very happy with this machine. Thanks for the hospitality from you and your wife, Coldone.

The Habs aren't my team per say but I wanted a Canadian team at least in the finals. I always liked watching games from the old forum in the Guy Lefleur days with the old dude in the stands yelling Go Habs Go! Was really hoping for a Habs/ Hawks match up so we could go at it! Went to a Sabres/ Canadians game about 30 years ago in Buffalo. Standing room only and we were up top with all the Canadian fans. They brought a whole brass band with them and were going bonkers the whole game

If it is Brinly, they still make and sell parts, but for current production which is same as on old models. I called in an order and found them very helpful, will try find info and edit back in. http://shop.brinly.com/PP-51BH-Plow_c_26.html pick the "PART NUMBER" reference pain for an ipb (ipl) for 10" and/or you can call 877 728 8224 or customerservice@brinly.com. Unsure if this is what you have http://shop.brinly.com/assets/images/Diagram_PP-51BH.pdf

What, Brian too? You guys with all your current shape GM trucks, first it was Steve rubbing it in with his 14 last year, now you guys with your 15s..... (Brian, i assume yours is a 15?) Im posting a pic of my 13 "old model' to try and fight back all you guys with your 'cutting edge' trucks..... I recommend you do the same Denny, don't just stand back and let them kick sand in our faces!!!!!

Hi all, With the recent sale of the Brinly plough for over £600 on that well-known auction site and having no luck finding one and after seeing Marks amazing adaptation of a Barford atom plough I set about adapting a spare Barford atom plough I had. I only have a slot hitch at the moment so I adapted it to suit a slot hitch but no welding or modification was made to the plough I just used the original bolt holes which means it can be reverted back to a plough for a Barford atom or even changed for a sleeve hitch. I cut a part out of some 8" box section we had to make the L-shaped bracket and then used a piece off of an old forklift carriage for the bar which will go in the slot hitch and be welded to the underside of the L-shaped bracket. It's currently only G-clamped. I will cut the bracket down so there is no risk of it hitting the fender and so the adjustment lever has enough space to move. Tom

UPDATE: today I fitted the 50mm tow ball, I cut off the old hitch thing and drilled two 10mm holes to mount it. to get the hitch plate off i had to cut off two stripped coach bolts. they must have been over tightened at the factory or something as they had never been off (as far as I'm aware). the cut doesn't look straight here but it was corrected with a bit of filing: the drilling was done with a 1940's union pillar drill: and here is the mounted hitch: this will come in very handy I'm sure!
