    I was pulling for Wisconsin too. It was a great game. It really came down to who ever had the last streak. One more big game. The lady Irish stare down what could be a freight train tonight in the final. Win or lose, they should be proud. With only one senior starter and three total they weren't expected to have the kind of season they've had. Go Irish!!!!!!!!!!!!

    A little progress! Grandson is on spring break and will be here all week! He is still sleeping! LOL. Between the tractor and planting 1 acre of the garden, he was toast last night. Started breaking it down. Some interesting issues. Steering shaft is bent, hood stand has some interesting mods (cut and bent to make room for briggs motor and hole torch in it for exhaust) If anyone has steering shaft and hood stand reasonably priced, may be better to replace than repair. Also need one front wheel. Wierd, one of 2 is bad. Next steps: Sandblast everything. Open up tranny and see what, if anything is wrong. Here are a few pics.

    Guess I am a little late to the party. Sorry, I had some things going on this winter that may have kept me from being there this year. The path has cleared up (some good and some not so good) so Mrs Dino and I will be there again this year. Tuna...I will miss you at the show. I am looking forward to the show again.

    No snowblower on this one. I have a dedicated 520 set up with a two stager and cab. Glenn- When you say drawbar hitch do you mean the suitcase weight bracket? The drawbar hitch is just a regular hitch that attaches to the back of the rear end.

    Sorry guys I guess I should have started with the rarity of a 754. I own another 754 and have sold one other one. TT could answer better as to the question about 753 k161's being used or if they were k161's that were bought in 1964. I know that he has started a list and Clay Brooks has a list of recorded 754's. I am 90 percent sure this is one the only issue it has is the lack of shifter decal which would give the serial number of the tractor. the engine already falls into those k161's recorded to as used on 754's. anyway it also has the longer hood like the 854's so what i know is that it is a 1964 tractor so its either a 854 or 754 and with the engine having the numbers it has it has to be an elusive 754 with no serial number

    Yes 754's do exist! Here is the memo from Wheel Horse announcing their introduction in the Spring '64.

    I like the fabricated bumper and it should be stronger than the plastic valance. It should still work with a snowplow installed but won't with a snowthrower/snowblower.

    Did a few more things... Painted and installed a drawbar hitch. Never came with one. Installed large eye bolts on each side of the rear bracket to tie ropes to and such. Painted the suitcase weights and the weight bracket. I have the D250 sitting next to it in the garage. Gives you and idea how big the D250 really is.

    With Wheel Horse it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they had both. All you can really do is look in the owners manual or that years brochure. I've even seen contradictions there too. The B series seems to be one of the models that varied a quite a bit over the years.

    Things learned today... 1) Use hardened bolts with puller 2) Use impact wrench 3) Get it red hot Drive Pulley finally off!

    I upgraded my lights too. Much better at night. Also added some small license plate lights to aim down on the shifter/dash area. They are smaller than a dime but they put out a lot of light. I have one on each side of the steering column. I fabricated a bracket to hold the new LED lights keeping the stock round head light plate in place.

    If I recall, on my Onan, that sleeve just pulled off the shaft without any force. I was lucky there. The heat was the answer. Red

    Is the voltmeter a Toro labelled gauge? I thought they only go to 16 volts? If the gauge is worth saving, and is functional but just out of calibration, "recalibration" of the gauge is possible by adding common resistors in line with the gauge's sense terminal.. The resistor steals power from the gauge mechanism, making it read a lower value. I did had an older thread on RS about doing the recal but darned if I can find it now. I was successful in recalibrating the meter reading to agree with the 14 volts produced by the RR unit. From that cal point, the gauge was no more than 1/4 volt off at the 15 volt "overcharge" point and the 10 volt "battery dead" meter indication.

    The commands also have a fuel cut off/backfire solenoid on the carb make sure the carb is grounded(some had plastic intakes) and that the red wire is hooked and has power to the carb when the switch is on. Fairly common with them

    Mike, I've done this on my 520xi. Just remove the lens assembly and unclip the clips to separate the the lens and housing. Dust gets in there and is the majority of the haziness. Wash them, and then I used Meguiars Polish for paint with a Mother's Sponge head to polish the lens. I actually painted the area other than the headlight area black for an updated look as well.

    If you have the draw bar hitch on the back, run your finger to the front end of the part that goes under the transaxle. Then move your finger forward and to the left just a little. There you will find the drain plug, almost flush with the surface of the bottom of the transaxle. Use a 1/4" Allen wrench to remove it.

    My 74 B100 is the same length as my 74 C160. I fact they look about the same all the way around, but with skinner rear tires. Same sun strand transmission and same hood and dash.

    If you find you axle shaft is worn you might consider putting a "Shaft Sleeve" on it. The are several manufacturers that make a very thing sleeve that can be driven on the worn shaft. Search for "Easy sleeve", Dura Sleeve" , etc. In industrial applications these are typically intended for sleeving worn seal area, I have used them on shafts in old small slow speed gear boxes and a very old diesel injector pump with good results.

    Early B-80's were 2" longer than a short frame tractor. Later ones were long frame (4" longer than a short frame). A big block Kohler will bolt right in once you remove the motor plate.

    I have bought a few Wheel Horse's lately but haven't been on Red Square in a while. Been on Facebook a lot though, seems like a lot of WH nuts are on there! I picked up a descent one owner 401 with it's original mower deck and original 4 hp. Kohler engine that runs and mows and came with a Bolens front mounted sickle bar mower. The rims were repainted and the old farmer dude painted the tires too, oops! I can strip it off and wire wheel the paint off of the tires, just a lot of work though! Also got a WH Model 701 for cheap at $30.00 delivered to my door, it is mostly a parts machine and missing a lot of parts, been slowly adding parts to it. That is the 2nd 701 I have gotten lately. Just got a nice original condition 1966 Model 856 with a nice mower deck from a member here. It has all 4 wrong tires and rims on it but I have some original types to put on it. It has some nice parts on it and we got it running after a few hours of working on it. I am trying to trade it off for a 1956 RJ35 that a buddy has and don't like. That is about all I have been able to scarf up lately but it will keep me busy for a while! Hope to get the RJ35 in a week or so!

    Ok well I got it for 225 with a couple of other small tecumseh engines. Bad the rear end is locked up... good I have parts!!! Bad the h55 motor is locked up... 15 minutes and it runs. It needs work so expect some questions but right now I think I did good.

    Rye is coming along great. Here a couple of photos of the growth this spring. 1st photo was about the 1st week of March. 2nd photo was about the 4th week of March. As soon as it dries out enough it will be tilled under before planting. Thad (Ohio)

    These models have a driveshaft back to the eaton 1100 tranny. The coil and the igniter came in the mail today so I got them installed. The seat safety switch was already bypassed by PO so I thought I might be able to start it without putting the seat pan back on. I noticed that there was another connection that looks like it is for the cruise control so I put the pan back on, connected that and tried to fire it over. I also took off the foot control pedals which was necessary to pull the foot boards off. There are two, one is forward and reverse and the other one is an emergency stop. Well the emergency stop is also to get start. I found out after a little testing with the amp meter. When I turned the key there was no power going to the starter. I figured the brake needed to be pushed in and she turned over. After a few attempts to get it to fire I pulled the plugs and found that the right side had great spark and the left side had nothing (this side has the new coil on it), After poking around some more I found one of the wire connections to that coil came lose SO...... plugs back in and ................................ (hope the video works) ... First start after new wiring.MOV

    When I moved here five years ago, I would have been happy with a SCUT. But my wife said it was too big for two acres. So - 14 tractors of various sizes is what I settled for.

    Engine oil and filter change. Tranny fluid and filter change and clean any grass build up off the hydro. Air filter and fuel filter. Grease the steering and front axle zerks. !!! Most important!!!! Take the time to strip the engine tins and clean any and all crud from the motor especially the cooling fins!!! Mike...........

    I stopped at the South Mt. Fair Grounds on the way home from western Pa. this morning. The mountain creek one mile West of the fair grounds. I marked my campsite with a big K in the snow next to that big oak tree back there in the woods.

    Wow, after reading that, if I ever decide to epoxy my garage floor, having a pro do it sound like the way to go. Just to go off on a tangent for a moment, now that I have retired, I do some handyman work at a retirement community a couple of miles from here. One of my customers, an 83 year old widow, drives a 2009 Jaguar XF. Her garage floor is painted with epoxy, plus she has carpet on top of it. When I ask her why she had carpet on her nice garage floor, I thought she would say that she didn't want to mess up the painted floor, but she replied, "sometimes I drive barefoot and when I get out of the car I don't want my feet to get cold".

    been spending most of the week on the engine. i have 2 1057 spec k241 engines...(46333D) the one that was originally on this tractor i pulled the head and although it was running awesome, the piston felt loose in the bore and i could see enough wear that this one was going to be some $ to get right. even though it was running great i could see some extra work ahead of me if i left it alone and also didnt want to put hours into cleaning it up and painting if it wasnt going to last. then i have the one i got from indy at scotts m&g. same engine, but in nicer condition and i already new how it was inside. i will do rings as the gaps are way over spec and give it a light hone to clean up the bore a little. piston is nice in bore so i will leave it alone, crank and rod are good as well and of course all seals and gaskets will be done at the same time and will check and remedy any out of spec clearances that need attention as i go. theres a write up of the initial tear down when i got this engine here...... anyway engine was tore down early in the week and cleaned up and i painted the block, tins and misc stuff this morning at work... heres the rundown in pics...... starting point. engine stripped down... blasted and washed.... bit of cleaning up of the cast iron..... powdered parts and engine block....
