Last weekend I picked up my 11th Wheel Horse tractor in less than four years. This one is a real nice 1967 model 857 with a rear discharge mower deck that I bought from Bob Maynard. I seem to be getting pretty good at sneaking these horses into PA from nearby states without getting caught by the authorities. Anyway, I can not thank Bob enough for taking the time to get this 857 in running order before I arrived to pick it up. Just another testament to the awesome Wheel Horse collectors we have here at RedSquare.

I was going to post some funny food service stuff but it's probably pretty "run of the mill" hospital foods stories. The food isn't bad really, just not always exactly what you ordered. They like to surprise you sometimes to keep it lively. Sometimes it's late, and once I had to reorder because it never showed up. But I try to keep in mind how many people they have to feed and you can hear in the background how fast the orders are coming in by the ringing phones. Add to that they have check my sugar before meals and give me insulin if over a certain level. Then you have to tell them when the tray arrives and wait for the shot. Result = not so warm food. There were some complaints the other day the Nurse Assistant told me and things are better. I have enjoyed all of your humor and look forward to more. Just don't get into one of these places to find it. No tree climbing. Also looking forward to the NCAA thread getting active again today. Kentucky, West Virginia, Notre Dame and Witchita State are all here in Cleveland at the Q for tonight's games. I don't have a dog in this hunt so I'm going out on a limb here and rooting for RacinBobs Notre Dame Fighting Irish to make the final four out of Cleveland.. I know that green and gold face paint is getting itchy by now. LOL :)

OK, I think I have some photos of the 520 H. It needs cleaned up and fluids changed, but that is minor! Also got a nice "lightly" used push blade and tire chains. The deck is a "recycle" mulching deck with the mulching apparatus off right now.

Hey Jim...I heard that the Cleveland Browns volunteer in the food service department, at that hospital, during the off season. They mostly answer that phones and take orders...just like on the field. The ones that answer with a high voice are on the Defense. Go ND

It seems like every year during the winter months I find the best wheel horse tractors models you possible can find and buy. You would think summertime more would be available for sale because of the warm months. Nope not me the best I ever find where during the nasty hard cold winter months. First one was a Wheel horse 520hc pretty rare tractor in my neck of the woods. It was the day before are big buffalo lake effect snow of 7 feet! Late November. Great score with 60 inch deck. Second one Wheel horse 520 with 389 hours that came in December also with 60 inch deck. I spend 3 hours digging this one out the price was right!! Trust me.... Third one was the cadillac the Wheel Horse 420lse came in January and I think it was -2 outside and I was the craziest guy at the car wash trying to get the road salt of it before I parked it on my garage. Awesome score never thought I would find one. Espically I thought a buddy was joking with me on this model but turn out to be the real thing!! also a 2 stage snowblower came with it. The 4th one not to rare but a cool find for me a 309 safari wheel horse snowmobile came out of Pennsylvania in early January as me and my friend went down he broke my passenger side window so we had to drive back with rain and wind going through the window lol. It's all good we made it back safe.... So I hate to day I'm going to miss this Winter 2014-2015 of rare finds for me for my collection. Also of course Ill never forget a November lake effect snowstorm of 7 feet of snow! still haven't seen any pics of my wheel horse snow team in any tractor magazine yet lol....... Thanks Shawn

These had to be scanned so they aren't too good but I always like pics of cheerleaders and the leprechaun. You can see why I chose to stand beside the cheerleader of my choice. Notre Dame/Navy game 1991

That was a nice tractor. I would have kept it, but with too many irons in the fire right now, I had to let it go. Glad you like it Dave.

Well... its worth $500! There is no book on these tractors, we can only offer vague guesses based on our experiences and usually requires some pictures. If its one you will love and get to enjoy, its priceless! I can tell you that not many people on here get into the hobby for collectible resale value, so just don't worry about it. Work it, cruise on it, whatever you do and enjoy it. That is the most important!

The food here varies. The food in the cafeteria here is pretty good. It's the reason I became a patient. When my son was born 26 yrs. ago they served my wife a burger that had "Property of the Chicago Black Hawks" written on it.

I would leave it original paint and patina if it still has the original look the trans are pretty easy to work on just a little heavy to move at first the motor will need the bore checked but there is lots or posts that can walk you through a rebuild this is the 857 I've been working on over the winter for my daughter built the engine on a stool in my kitchen over the cold nights I think you can do this no problem lots of help here if you get stuck on something

I did as the bulletin prescribed on my 704 and replaced my tie rods with custom spherical rod ends. Drives like a new car without the cheap plastic smell!

Thought you all would like to see a factory wheel horse mounted Bachtold mower. Tractor and mower came from the original farm. Even got a paper on setup / using the mower! Tractor is a 875 wheel o matic. There isn't much info I can find on these. If someone would like to share what they know about this attachment that would be awesome.

I don't really go hunting for tractors and the ones that I have gotten usually came during the spring and summer. They say good things happen to good people and Shawn is as solid a dude as one can find! Keep up the good work!

Well my last update on this thread was a few months ago. I am constantly checking updates, posting statuses, etc. on the computer. I have found that documenting this project is much better, and less time consuming, in one place. Many of you have followed us on our very own Harrison Elementary Garden Tractor Club Facebook page. If you have been wondering what we are up to, we invite you to "like" our page and see all of the cool things that we have been doing. https://www.facebook.com/HarrisonGTC I would have never dreamed that this project would have taken this long. The kids are amazing, patient, and very curious on each and every step that we take. We are nearing completion of our first machine from David Rice of Crawfordsville, IN and almost caught up with the second machine that we received in pieces from Clyde Potts of Wooster, OH. As the finishing touches are being put on those two machines we have started disassembly and sandblasting of our essay contest machine. Powder coated parts from the 3rd machine will not come back in to the club barn until we get at least one machine gone. We are running out of space. We have been very blessed in this project. The amazing amount of support, donations, and pats on the back have been very much appreciated. The kids deserve all of the praise. Please join our page and see how amazing this entire project is. We are a truly blessed group!

The big projects here this year are: Another metal building in the back yard.30 feet by 30 feet with 12 foot high walls and two 10 foot by 10 foot roll-up doors. Also got an 11,000 watt Generac generator scheduled for delivery tomorrow.I'm sick and tired of the power outages here.Power was off for a while just last night.I'll be doing all the site prep work for the building.Work crew comes with the building and erects it.I'll be doing all the prep work for the generator.Electrician friend of mine will be doing the tie-in work to the main box.Should keep me busy for a while.

Put the 416 to good use the past few days. Really is nice to have a tractor to do all these tasks. Did end up getting stuck on a big clod and a soft spot when I was about done. Good times!

Actually there was a Commando 800 Hydro too. My "High Horse" started out as a Commando 800 but the only parts left are the sheet metal. I think it looks really good the way it is and I wouldn't change it.
