Put the 416 to good use the past few days. Really is nice to have a tractor to do all these tasks. Did end up getting stuck on a big clod and a soft spot when I was about done. Good times!

It was excellent talking with JimD on Skype today...a Huge Thanks to RMCIII (Rob) for doing this. Rob was in the room with Jim with his lap top and set it up. Jim had a few of his friends there with him also. We shared screens with Brrly1 and C-101plowerpower (Koen) from the Netherlands. Here is a couple of pictures...the quality is OK, but not great. OK, I think I have some photos of the 520 H. It needs cleaned up and fluids changed, but that is minor! Also got a nice "lightly" used push blade and tire chains. The deck is a "recycle" mulching deck with the mulching apparatus off right now.

Had a spectacular time today with Jim, Brrly, Stevasaurus, Koen, and 3 friends of Jim. Great stories and I think there may even be a photo or (2) of the event and maybe a "striped shirt". Rob

Thought you all would like to see a factory wheel horse mounted Bachtold mower. Tractor and mower came from the original farm. Even got a paper on setup / using the mower! Tractor is a 875 wheel o matic. There isn't much info I can find on these. If someone would like to share what they know about this attachment that would be awesome.

OH!!! Come now! I dare to challenge the "at least 1 still works". If you really must know, I planned 2 weeks in advance, to meet Jim and Skype with Steve and anyone else that wanted to wish Jim a happy, healthy recovery..... I detest that lonesome statement from a lonesome NY individual who is still looking for the way back home!!!! No, but serious for anyone following this thread. Jim was in AWESOME spirits today. I am amazed by his joy and compassion he extends to others in his time of need. Jim and I had a nice quiet time together...< That is not for anyone to make any SNYDE comments about. Serious, if you do, I will ask Karl to block you. I have never mentioned that in any thread. But this is different.... Jim; my heart and prayers go out to you and your family. Thanks for asking, but I have not made very much progress yet. With the weather warming up a bit, I have had several other outside projects pop up that has taken precedence over my girl. I have been stopping after work a couple nights a week to apprentice with my machinist friend who is going to show me how to spline the shafts. He has also been very busy fabricating a 1920 something Harley Davidson out of nothing more than an engine and a transmission from some other vintage year. Almost all the parts have been fabricated in his shop. It has been fun watching it grow each week. Our plan is for me to order the shafts this week, and we will cut them the week after next. I will give an update when we get them done. I have been able to locate all the bearings except the one 8049. My brother-in-law is stopping at Motion Industries tomorrow to order the others and see what they can find for the 8049. The 1526 1-1/8" axle bearings I ordered through Toro were caged needle bearings, while the ones in my transaxle were full complement. Does anyone know why wheel horse switched to the more expensive caged bearings? That is all I have for now, thanks again for everyone's input!!!

you may not have to replace the grommet,if you order a spare and have it on hand then surely you wont need it,you know murphys law

If you want to grade a gravel drive the mid mount is much better suited than any other mount in my experience.The front or rear mount amplify any pitch up or down of the supporting axle.The mid mount will only transfer half of the pitching motion of either axle.There is a good reason road graders have the blade midways.I've had one for many years and I really like the job it does.Luck,JimA

Skonk came home from his first Tour of Duty today!

I have an SB 421 with a Uni-Drive rear. Model # of rear end maybe 5086. It has never been serviced and is full of crap! At this point it will no longer go into either high or low range.I need to get it going before next winter as I use it for snow blowing my 600 foot driveway. I am looking for someone in the central Pennsylvania area (mifflin county or close) who may be able to service or give good advice on how to repair. This tractor was owned by my now departed parents and is only the second tractor they ever owned. The first one was also a Wheel Horse ! Please e-mail any helpful info to jawhite57@verizon.net

Still too dark before I left for work this morning...could barely make out the white of it's head sitting in the nest. I left the window up, full screen for the wife to watch after I left...she got to see an egg cracked... and one eaglet emerge, early this morning. Site is up again...watching it now.

Just so everyone knows...these 111199 bearings are not gonna be replacements for the 1533 bearings...unless you want to take the case half and have them machined for the bigger 111199 bearings....And Sorry Tom and Steve I am out of 8-speed trans cases....I have alot of parts here but no cases...have a boat load of 4 speed cases...unless guys start parting out mid 80's and newer tractors with 8 speed tranny's this is still gonna be a hard fix...alot of these tractors are still running great today so getting parts to fix is gonna be tough.

Thanks Mike, that's good stuff and sure clears up what Toro did. If that SKF 6008 is a direct replacement they are available for < $10 vs the $55-$65 as a Toro part #.

Thanks, now we're getting somewhere. Looks to me it's not machined, got it from US. Already been to a bearing shop, a few serious ones left. If a matching bearing can't be found then I just have to look for a spacer. A few bad photos attached. Thank You guys. Tom

Well, I'm back at last. I haven't been doing much tractor-related thins lately. I just finished restoring my 13th table fan.. a 1903 General Electric. Done at last.. Anyway, an older man saw me out plowing on my Ford LGT-145 the other day. He flags me from the road and says he has a "Rusty old tractor" dismantled in a field, last being seen in an old shed about 20 years ago.. he said it was mine if I could find it. Didn't give me a single clue as to what it may be. He says it was boxy, maybe from the mid-60's, and about the size of my Ford. He gave me an approximate range of where it once sat. I set off to search for it.. and judging by the pictures, you may say I found it..! My digital camera was on the fritz, it's -20*f here. But the engine and frame were all there! She turns over, seems complete, and just by spinning the transmission she seems okay. The only reason I found it was because I saw remains of the shed in the snow. I've been excavating it for the last 3 days now. By the small wheels and 8HP Kohler, I'm willing to bet it's a B-80. I gave to clean off the tag to see if it's even readable. Already got bits of it torn down and cleaned. With any kind'a luck.. this may roll out of the shop at nearly the same time as the B-80 I started months ago! I plan on restoring them side by side.. just for kicks.

I've had both and in very heavy wet snow, the tall chute would plug occasionally and normally it was wet snow that was already disturbed. (compressed). In very heavy wet snow, the short chute wouldn't blow it more than three feet. My tall chute just seems to throw the snow better and the tall chute didn't coat me in snow "as much" as the short chute. To all the members who have never tried both kinds of blowers, remember this............"it is NOT better to have loved a short chute without ever having loved a tall"

Some of the ipl's list the 111199 bearing as having a 40mm ID. Did a search using that number and low and behold I find a site that list a 111199 bearing as a SKF 6008 ball bearing. The dimensions listed are 1.5748" ID = 40mm 2.6772" OD = 68mm .5906" wide = 15mm Good chance that is the correct replacement. Garry Adding 1.500" = 38.1mm 2.500" = 63.5mm

Something to consider is drilling holes will only cause more dirt to easily find its way in there. The build up is usually from an oil leak like oil filter base gasket, crank plate, or Welch plug over cam. The oil then soaks the motor and attracts dust. Fix oil leaks, degrease engine, then blow down the motor regularly.

Well, anything late model in my trailer is odd, but this 310 was so clean I had to have it. It needs a solid cleaning, wet sand and buff a couple minor scratches etc. but it runs and drives like brand new.

Got about 2 1/2 inches here today. Robins don't know what to do.

Thanks for the input gentlemen!! I will have to do some research on the 4140 and 4340 steels since I am not familiar with them. It appears you are both in agreement that it would be wise going with the best material and parts possible. I was originally going to replace all the bearings, but changed my mind when I picked up the set Toro still offered. They looked like junk compared to what was already in it. I will reconsider that now and do some more looking around for better bearings! Do you have any recommendations as to who makes the best bearings? If I could, I would also take the old shaft in to the metallurgy lab to find out what grade of steel it is made from and if or how it was heat treated. Thanks again, and have a great weekend!!!

I have a couple of Beagles Emma is on the right and is Bruno's Mom. Typically they aren't allowed on the furniture but sometimes they forget.. I wasn't off the couch for two seconds and they decided to make themselves comfy. They are both very friendly though Bruno is more of a people dog... Emma's best friend is FOOD and if given half a chance she'll take it right out of your hand. (not mine though) Then there is Kia, the cat I rescued at work. She was born in the wild but is the friendliest cat you will ever meet.. The three of them get along great and you will often find the three of them curled up together in front of the wood stove. Kia even lets the two mutts sleep in HER bed..
