I took "SALT n PEPPERS" advice and pushed it real good. Yesterdays 5" wet heavy snow was perfect for the plow. Sorry about the green Yammy. but it does have a red WH blade.

Did not use the tractor with the blower but only for about 5 min. mostly just plowed. had a few drifts to relocate. Had some good snows but nothing to say it was a busy winter.

Only had to plow once this winter, but as steep as our driveway is we would have been stranded without my .

That is an advertisement for installing a cab, if I ever saw one!

I used the blower and plow this year. Had 2 horses ready to go. Single stage on the 520h with a C series cab. Cramped but it worked.

Well, I'm back at last. I haven't been doing much tractor-related thins lately. I just finished restoring my 13th table fan.. a 1903 General Electric. Done at last.. Anyway, an older man saw me out plowing on my Ford LGT-145 the other day. He flags me from the road and says he has a "Rusty old tractor" dismantled in a field, last being seen in an old shed about 20 years ago.. he said it was mine if I could find it. Didn't give me a single clue as to what it may be. He says it was boxy, maybe from the mid-60's, and about the size of my Ford. He gave me an approximate range of where it once sat. I set off to search for it.. and judging by the pictures, you may say I found it..! My digital camera was on the fritz, it's -20*f here. But the engine and frame were all there! She turns over, seems complete, and just by spinning the transmission she seems okay. The only reason I found it was because I saw remains of the shed in the snow. I've been excavating it for the last 3 days now. By the small wheels and 8HP Kohler, I'm willing to bet it's a B-80. I gave to clean off the tag to see if it's even readable. Already got bits of it torn down and cleaned. With any kind'a luck.. this may roll out of the shop at nearly the same time as the B-80 I started months ago! I plan on restoring them side by side.. just for kicks.

As you might remember, I purchased an 857 on Wednesday. The 857 was purchased because the owner would not part with his 5.5 cu. ft. bathtub cart unless I took the 857 too. So, only wanting the cart, and not needing another 857, I sold it to one of our members. Now here is the "titled" story. I was getting the 857 ready for pick up this morning. It started and ran fine, but when I got it to my driveway, I noticed that gasoline was pouring out from somewhere. I stopped the engine and began to investigate. My first thought was that it was a loose gas line to the fuel pump. It was missing a clamp. So I put a clamp on, started the engine and leak was still there. So I replaced the gas line from tank to pump, and removed the fuel pump so that I could tighten the screws. Not fixed. I removed it again and replaced the diaphragm thinking that it was not sealing the two halves. Not fixed. Now I noticed that the gas was not coming from the pump, carburetor, or hose, but it was actually now spraying out of the hole in the breather cover. Hmm... I remembered a post on RedSquare about a stuck float that caused serious flooding and gas to come out of the breather. So always having a rebuilt spare carburetor on hand, I replaced the carburetor. With that, the engine started and purred like a kitten, but when I opened the throttle, gas came spraying out of the breather hole again. Now I was perplexed. It's not the pump, not the carburetor, not the fuel line. What could it be? So I pulled the dipstick to see if I had gas in the oil, and low and behold, when I drained it, I had almost 3 quarts of gas/oil mixture in the crankcase. I refilled it with the proper 1-1/2 quarts of 30W oil, started it up, and... ...problem solved. So I went back and found the old diaphragm in the trash and sure enough, there was a hole in it. I suspect that this hole was allowing the gas to be sucked into the crankcase. When the level got too high, the pressure just forced it out the breather. The original owner said that the tractor had no problems when it was retired in the fall. He did a normal oil change, and only started it once this year when we loaded it on my trailer. I suspect that over the winter, the diaphragm became hard from the ethanol laced gasoline left sitting in the pump. When we started it on Wednesday, the gas began to pump into the crankcase. Lessons learned. Don't use ethanol gasoline. Check the oil level frequently. Keep some of buckrancher's replacement diaphragms on hand at all times.

The most fun seat time-wise was using the C-105. I got a flat tire plowing one snowfall so it finished the season with the spare set of 23x10.50-12 turfs on the rear. Too wide for the 42" blade though! I never did put chains on this season. Poncho only got used one time, to try his new decals. Because of the amount of snow we had this year I didn't even get to use the Gravely snow cannons. Either a small amount for Hopalong with a plow, or enough for the snowthrower on Paladin, the Dxi.

Hey, that's not a Buckeyes uniform. That's my brother, he's a Duke fan. LOL About that pyramid, ya yer gonna need a bucket truck for that little task. Nothing like a good belly laugh to start my day. If that picture starts moving it's every man for himself. If it starts to roll aim it towards Chicago. I owe a guy a picture favor out that way.

Sad to see such a decline in member quality. When I first joined no priblems, now there are a few members who consistently just stir up trouble. So what if someone can afford to buy more tractors than you ? Don't be butt hurt. The reason we are all here is to show off all out different toys. I know the mods work hard and to a good job keeping this place ship shape, just wish some of the member would act like they aren't the most important person in the world. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. (Bms)

I used my 520Lxi with single stage blower a little bit at the cottage last weekend. The snow was too deep at about a foot and a half and it was too wet to make any real progress. The depth of the snow was above the blower and the shoot clogged up a few time so I gave up. The weight box on the back made a huge improvement in traction. I paid $45 for the weight box. I was lucky to even find one. When I get a chance I will try my 2 stage on my 520H. If that does not work I will try my D-160 with a plow. If that does not work I will try my C-81 with a loader but wet snow will stick to the bucket. If that does not work I will wait for it to melt assuming we ever get a spring or summer this year. Dry snow blows best. Wet snow like we have during spring not so good.

A little accumulation came down again last night... just some nuisance snow, maybe only two inches total.

I have never had any issues with regulators attempting to short out if no load is put on the output. I have dissected, repaired and tested several "Onan style" regs and never had one react adversely to no load. If you do fear reg issues, just disconnect one of the stator lines into the reg and leave it at that. No stator line connected - no reg powered up.

The plow got lots of use. I didn't use the blower. 5 inches was the most we got at one time with about a foot on the ground at any one time. Very cold here but not a lot of snow.

UPDATE...Good News I just got off the phone with Jim...he says the doctor is very pleased with Jim's progress. He wanted me to convey how he was doing to everyone...and to say Thanks. He can eat real food and he has a good appetite at the moment. He has lost a fair amount of weight the last few weeks, but that is a good thing...approx 20+ lbs. I know that sounds like a lot, but it is OK for now. Another 30 lbs and he will be a walk on for the Cleveland Browns next year...and with those legs...you are looking at the next field goal kicker. Anyway, his doctor is very pleased with how Jim did with the first set of Kemo. This is GREAT NEWS. See...prayers work.

Oh here we go again! Wait didn't they say that when Ohio State went to play Wisconsin for the B1G Conference Championship? Or maybe it came when they were supposed to lose to Alabama. NO, NO I got it. It was when someone mentioned something about Ohio State not being able to keep up with Oregon's spread offence. Yeah that was it. Well I think that what people say goes a LLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG WAY!

I don't usually comment on this type discussion, but I feel that I need to say this; I have never experienced anything other than good things here. So many willing to help, even if it means taking time out of their day to make a phone call or research technical stuff for answers to the (sometime really dumb) questions we ask. I have very limited experience with these red things, but am willing to offer what little help I can to anyone who asks for it. I see good natured, usually constructive humor very often, and to me, that makes it a little more friendly, seems to say we all are close enough, although sometime we are separated by many miles, to jab each other a little. I have not seen anything disrespectful here since I joined you fine folks and I thank you all for what you do.

Thank you from me also Austin. It's not hard to see AJ. I was in the middle of one last night that got the lock down trying to make peace and it's not the first one for me. I said it there and I'll say it here, people come here to relax and have fun enjoying the one thing we all love here, the Horses. My dad always told me "If you don't have anything good to say don't say anything at all." This is a great place, we just all need to learn to check our bad days, attitude, whatever, at the door when we come in here and enjoy what we have in common...

Hi fellow Wheelers I just completed the fabrication of a Three Point Hitch for my 70"s GT14. Parts List include: 1. Used Wheel horse Rear Axle Bracket to which I added two Class One Hitch Pins with a steel bar welded across (bar was from an old shaft from a bad shock absorber) 2. Lower lift and Center lift bars and center lift arm (purchase from e-bay for $150) Note: One side was adjustable and the other solid, I changed the solid one so that is also adjust so that I could obviously adjust it and also make it fit better by removing a section and welding-in two threaded bolts 3. A twenty inch Class One tow bar from Tractor Supply for $139 Think you'll agree it came-out pretty good. Comments or suggestion appreciated As a side note might someone know what the rear pulley on the GT14 is for..... I assume perhaps the rototiller... but it looks so flimsy for that? Thanks

Well I made some more progress in the last couple of weeks. The fender pan was badly cracked under where the seat mounts and the mount bracket was almost broke clean off but after a lot of finessing its usable again. Not so pretty under the seat but it will be covered. lol The hood was UUUUUUGLY, spent over 30 hours fixin it. There is still three very small dents in the seam at the front I couldn't get out. looks like someone was usin it for a battering ram. If I was closer to the parts supply I would have trashed it in a heartbeat, at least it was only my time and not a lot of money. Had to put front tires off my 70 raider on for now cause its getting heavy enough that it was startin to get tippy on that single front jack stand Im gonna have to get my tires on order soon and get the front rims bead blasted and painted. Next job I think is to make a wiring harness since he original one was non-existent.

Looks like the view I'm seein' out my kitchen window. Outside Allentown, PA a blizzard up here. Weather says, continuing till 11 or so tonight. Yuk! Two days ago I leveled my stone drives and rolled 'em tight. Plow again, I'll be rolling the drives again. PS. Finished up with 7" of the ugly, white, cold, wet, slime slip slide about stuff! I like the smell of fresh cut blue grass. The old Work Horse pushed effortlessly. The Briggs surprised me, I like my older Kohlers, nah, I love my old Kohlers.

Mike, yeah the stack on my Commando 800 is quite loud to say the least. Craig, my "Wildfire" puller had reserved a spot at Wild Bill's 2014 Crackle Fest and will probably do so again this year.

As the story goes, I've got a German Shepherd that goes by the name of Chance. He's kind of like my best friend who doesn't argue much, is pretty good when told what to do. One heck of a watch dog. He keeps Linda feeling save when I'm out on tractor runs or swapmeets.

Any serial number on the ID plate with the 1-6231 model number? Interested in knowing what it is. At some point they went from battery ignition to magneto ignition on this model. Regardless the points likely need to be cleaned to get spark. Garry
