3 pointsSee.... what was it doing in the WH section, I didn't see it.... well it's cool enough to have it here twice!
-
3 points...and it's for sale. I'll post it in the classifieds later. Here's the full picture. The real reason I bought it was to get this:
-
3 pointsI just got my new Wheel Horse Shop Sign tonight from a shipper I used on Uship.com.The sign came from New Jersey. The sign seems like it's in excellent shape and comes with the letters numbers kit. I also think the sign wasn't ever hung in a dealership because I don't even see and brackets for the hangers. The seller claims he found it in attic from a house he bought years ago. Also that was my first experience with uship.com and it work out great and the price was great too!! By the time I spent gas, food and my time it getting the sign it was a whole alot cheaper going through this shipper out of vermont that I used. Otherwise this sign is a keeper and going to look sweet hanging up!!

2 pointsI've always wanted a pressure washer and figured that the attachamatic on the front of the horse would make a great mounting point. I've been collecting parts for a few weeks and finally got a chance to put this together. Here is a shot of the mock-up with the pulley attached to the pump. The pump is 4.0 gpm at 4000 psi and the pulley size puts the engine rpms at 3000. I had an old mule drive that I had used the shaft and pulleys for another project. I added a few pieces of tubing and angle to mount the pump and a fancy "patented" tensioner. I removed the original tensioning screw and added a hook in the rear that locks the whole assembly rigidly to the attachamatic. It works. Now its all disassembled for some paint. It takes about 3 min to install and put on the belt.

2 pointsHer is where her final resting place may be..... unless I move the suburban section of the collection

2 pointsKarl, do you remember how much of that 10GB was used last year? Found the prepaid Verizon Jetpack for the 10GB of data Is it possible to compress the video? I know FILES can be compressed but not sure about doing it to stream it live. It just seems like 10GB will get used up quick. Maybe we can spot that crazy C195 and stop it before something happens again. Big Show security!
-
2 pointsI'll bring the wagon if needed??? As long as there are No C195's driving around with duals on it!!!

1 pointI've been looking for a little round hood that I can put to work. It will be mostly clean-up plowing in the winter and tow a trailer around in the summer without using 5 gallons of gas. I was able to work out a great deal with Devin for this sweet 854. I think much of it is original (let me know what you see, i dont have an eye for these older models yet). I'm not going for factory original, I just want mechanical soundness. It looks like the right rear axle has some up/down movement so I may be replacing the transmission with an 8 speed. Havent decided whether to do that or to dig into the transmission and hunt down parts. The hubs were replaced with 5 bolt, there is a cigar lighter that's been added to the gas tank (... ), the headlights are on a reproduction bar and are not original obviously, and there were 4 holes drilled in the top of the hood and two of them started ripping. The seam is also coming apart a bit. All mostly minor items (except the holes that bug me). I know there are a lot of people out there in the keep it original camp: what would you do with the holes (at least one has sharp edges which may cause harm to an errant finger)? It came with a spare 8HP block (the block on it is cracked a little at the exhaust) and accessories, I got ags, and tri ribs, a pretty good condition rear discharge mower that turns smooth and has solid metal all around. I even got a plow for my engine-less 551 project. I am very happy with this haul, and feel like I got a very fair deal. Devin's a good guy.

1 pointI added a new horse to the herd tonight! I have always wanted a 953 and now I finally have one! I paid $250, but it does need some TLC. Needs a seat first of all, and some lights, but it does runs very well with no smoke. Also it pops out of 3rd gear so the tranny needs some attention. The hydraulics seem to work well though. Oh yeah, and i also drug home what was left of a 1045 lol. It was a great day!

So here is the tractor I am making the 4 hour trip to add to my tractor collection. I am not sure a lot about it due to lack of knowledge of Wheel Horse. Maybe you guys can help with info on her. Here is what I know about it: (info is from current owner) he is 2nd owner and bought it from 1st owner back in 1974 it has mower deck, front plow and snow blower he says it is a 1257 six speed and he sent the following pictures. any help on this tractor would be great and thanks

1 pointjust got this to replace my gt 1142. the gt has served me very very well for the last two years but i wanted to upgrade. so ive been looking for awhile and came across this one only about 20 minutes away! so i went ahead and got her. now it didnt come with any attachments but i am going to use the deck off the gt. also, i put my plow, chains and weights on it for this winter. i think it will do very well and hopefully earn its keep. now my future plans are to get new front tires for it, a 48 inch mower deck and maybe some paint and new seat. ive already fallen in love with this thing. just hope it can be as good if not better than the gt. anybody that has a mower deck for sale, please let me know. id like to find one soon so i can have it all ready for this spring. let me now what ya'll think!

1 pointShe is a nice tractor , paintwork looks in excellent condition , good price, the dozer looks to be for a long frame tractor but will still fit your tractor, make sure you pick up the dozer blade handle & the bracket that goes on the trans axle so that the blade can be attached , it may already be on the tractor. One other thing, you will now be looking for another tractor to keep her company , if you are not looking yet you soon will be. Have fun with your new horse, you're gonna love it

1 pointLift lever does not engage with what? Can you elaborate? Can you post some pictures of how you have the lift connected to the plow? If your lift lever is moving back, and the plow isn't lifting, you probably have a sheared roll pin in the lift.
-
1 pointYou can find them listed on ebay from time to time, look for them under Indy 500 Winner rather than

1 pointWhen I heard that Jake was in the issue I called the publisher and ordered a copy. I also got a copy with the Harrison Elementary Garden Tractor Club article in it. Outstanding articles Jake and Scott.
-
1 pointYou might be referring to me Jeff. I tried the sliders but removed them. They are nice to have for different size drivers but I'm the only one that uses it. Very comfy seat.

1 pointI 'd agree with not ripping it all apart for a few puffs of smoke. Agreed that it might not have been broken in properly, but it still could be done. These motors take a pretty good beating. IMHO, it's only work ripping apart if it doesn't work, or it smokes like crazy. By the looks of the pics, the vertical scoring doesn't appear to be any deeper than the hone that you can still see. Good luck.

1 pointNow that's funny right there John!!!! That guy is lucky he didn't get an old fashion beat down

1 pointThe Toro 106636 3-blade set replaces the original 106077 blades for the 05-42MS03 Some alternatives (Napa 3 of # 7-04533) (Oregon # 91-805 13-27/32in.) (Oregon Gator Mulcher # 90-943 13-27/32in.) (Oregon Gator Mulcher 3-in-1 # 90-643 13-27/32in.)] Blade chart The online ipl's for the decks are often shared by similar decks but fail to identify what deck uses what part. Garry

1 pointsome 42" decks will interfere with the rear wheels on a 520 but not all, there are some that will work haven't been able to figure the difference, i think that the later years make a difference, like late 90's eric j

1 pointHere is the story about Mr. Tinnerman's nuts. The speed nut was invented by Albert H. Tinnerman, son of George Tinnerman (who founded Tinnerman Stove Company), in 1936. This is why speed nuts are sometimes known as Tinnerman nuts. Albert invented the nut to resolve issues with stove shipping. The invention was so successful it led the company away from building stoves to building fasteners.[4] Tinnerman Products evolved from the speed nut development with manufacturing plants in Cleveland, Ohio. A modern manufacturing plant was constructed on Brookpark Road in the mid-1950s. Tinnerman Products was later acquired by Eaton Yale & Towne (Eaton Corporation).

1 pointI think the answer depends on what you use the machine to do. The tri ribs cited by Pete are great (as I have read) in the snow (and maybe dirt) to keep the tractor going where you want it. They may not be so good as a turf tire. If all you do is cut grass, a 2 ply turf tire will do fine. If you put a loader on it, you will need a 4 or 6 ply front tires. If you snow plow or snow blow, the tri tibs or Vredestein multi rib tires are a good choice. No one tire fits all chores, that is why many of us have more than one tractor. Just my opinion as well.

1 pointI'm not picking a final four, and though my heart says Maryland, my son-in-law is a Wisconsin graduate. In order to keep peace in the family, I must pick the Badgers to win it all.
-
1 pointHere is what im talking about. Im not talking about parting out machines that are too far gone. there are many good parts on the d 180 i could show you a ton more tractors like the 520h being parted out and most body parts are easley fixed by sanding and re painting i just cant see parting out good tractors for fenders and hoods i realize they buy them and can do what they want but at the rate they are junking these there will not be any left for future collectors From the same seller.

1 pointI have a bunch of these Bosch digital security cameras. If used with a converter like this $21 thingy on ebay and a computer, we could set up a few cameras. Just not sure how to live stream it. Maybe set them up high on the infield pole showing 4 directions??? Can't remember if there is a power outlet at the bottom of the pole or not but I think there is. They would be limited to where they can be set up because they need video cable and power wire which I can supply. http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Channel-BNC-To-USB-Converter-DVR-Adapter-Camera-Quad-Video-Switcher-/191162841563?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c823179db I can send the cameras and needed cables to you so you can test it out if you want to try it. I'll even order the converter too since it's only $21 Just throwing this out as an option

1 pointI really think that the best medicine is laughing Jim. You have known that for a long time...it is how all the people here remember you...your (cents) of humor has actually helped some of them get through rough times...including me. Thanks Mate Hey...BTW...when I was down in the Ozarks last week...I had the distinct pleasure of meeting a Chief from a native tribe that actually spoke Squonk. He told me that the word "squonk" actually translated into "here...hold my beer and watch this". HA...go figure. So I asked him..."What did (AMC RULES) translate into?' He thought for a minute... and then he shakes his head...pulls out a snot rag and blows his nose...thought for another minute...grabbed the snot rag...blew his nose again...and he says..."dam tecky...need a carb adjustment". We hit it off real good...this Buds for you.

1 pointSUCCESS! It indeed was the left hub woodruff key. I adjust both sides evenly to allow full contact with those keys. Thank you so much fellows,I learned a lot today thanks to you. David
-
1 pointBrandon is correct...pull off both wheels and then the hubs and check the slots and woodruff keys. It is not inside the trans. This is a good fix. Pictures would confirm this.
-
1 pointThere it is! Chances are its your LEFT hub has likely broken or lost a key. The hubs should be flush with the axle (as looking from the outside of the wheel), and my bet is your axle is sticking out pretty far on the left side, which means the setscrew(s) are loose and likely broke something. There is a small chance the axles or hubs are pretty damaged from excess movement, if its been that way for a while, but no telling until you pull the hub off. If the parts are in decent shape then it should be a pretty easy fix. Take that side off and post pics.
-
1 pointThe high low shifter seems to be fine. Looking from the rear the right side axle extends about an inch and a half from the housing. There is no axle showing on the left. When shut off and placed in first gear high I can push the tractor with ease.
-
1 pointCheck the woodruff keys in the hubs/axles make sur ethe axle are not spinning in the hubs and also check to make sure the high/low shifter is fully seated in high or low..I have bumped the high/low shifter and had it in between gears.

1 pointIn that picture...it looks like Squonk has 2 heads...and 1 is a moderator...does that make since (cents, sents). I bet Scott stays away from Squonk at the show this year...he won't want his head on Mike's shoulder again. Dang Jim...I hope is doesn't hurt to laugh Mate. On the side...I just went for my semi-annual physical this morning. Again, the Doc said..."I don't know what you are doing, but I would not change a thing"...(he has said this to me for a couple of years now). I really want a prescription for what he is smoking...I would share some of it with Brrly1 and then we would go up to the hospital and share it with Jim. Hang in there my friend. You and I will be pulling Horsefixer's tractor with a rope again this summer. Sorry, I submitted this picture to an area "dating" web site, and the phone has not stopped ringing. Most of them are saying that they think the tractor is sexy, but it is that guy leaning on it that makes it so. A lot of "nice legs" comments also. Chris and My prayers Jim...love you man.

1 pointWell it's simple guys, I had a clean 1997 312 8 speed here could have used a seat but was not real bad, paint was nice on it no rust, probably the best and smoothest running magnum 12 I have ever had, I could not get $500 for it, finally over a year of trying to sell it I did, but not a WH guy but a local wanting a tractor with a blade, so I installed a nice 48" blade on it, and chains changed the trans fluid and engine oil, and delivered it for $800 I had offers from WH guys for $300 well guess what I said no, if these are so sought after and hard to find how come this took forever to sell, I have a Running driving 1967 Ranger with all new tires on it ags in rear and tri ribs in front, snow blade, mower deck, and dethatcher, metal is pretty nice, been a year I can't get $550 for it, for 3 years I had a 312 8 speed needed some TLC but over all nice machine could not get $300 for it, so I put the work in to it and gave it to my son. yup I part them out, make pretty good money doing it, try to sell the nicer ones but can't get anything for them, but you guys buy the crap out of parts, lets see you restore that old tractor with out buying used parts, and no your not getting GOOD used parts off a junker, most of these tractor all have the same problems, so a junker has no usable parts that are NEEDED, and yes I junk good parts all the time, frames, axles, and usable but not great sheet metal, if I saved every frame I would have mountains of them, in the 7 or so years I have been parting them I have sold maybe 3 frames, and never sold a 65 and newer axle, Except the swept axle for a 520, I sell lots of steering parts, linkage, hubs, spindles, engine parts, items like lights, cables, dash panels, rims ect..... So with that said if you feel you want or need to save them all bring a couple semi trailers and a big wad of cash you can buy what is here, many I have were headed to the scrap, I picked them up to part out, some very few get fixed because it's not worth it, I tried fixing a bunch in the beginning, but learned it's not worth it in the end.
-
1 pointI buy based on what I like to own and drive. I have a C-175 Twin Automatic black hood with a Series II replacement engine. I would not trade it for love or money.
-
1 pointWell it just arrived. Was shipped from Canada. It spent a decent amount of time getting through customs.... I am happy with it.
