10 pointsI wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that Terry has decided to return to the ranks of Supporter and for me to publicly thank him for the years of help and friendship. Terry assistance has greatly contributed to the forum and I can honestly say that we wouldn't be where we are with out him. More than that, he been (and continues to be) my friend and I am grateful for that. He's not leaving RedSquare, in fact, he's looking for a Roundhood so please be on the look out! T-Mo (Terry) I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for us and for me. I hope you get that round hood and the 1963 model would always be the best!

6 pointsTraveled over to the Auburn Auction Park in Auburn, IN last night to get our display set up for the show this coming weekend March 13-15. There is already a great turn out of machines and the folks have until Thursday night to get their stuff under the roof. I am set up this year with a small club that I am part of known as the Northern Indiana Garden Tractor Club, where we will have over 40 machines together. The show hours are as follows: Friday 9-6 Saturday 9-5 Sunday 9-3 Parking is free but admission is $7 or $10 for a 3 day pass. They have food available on site, big tractors, little tractors, old farm trucks, old farm tools, farm toys for sale, craft area, and much more. I believe your paid admission will also get you in the automobile museums across the highway. I will be on site Saturday and Sunday so please stop by and say hello. My display is set up at the table with chairs. I would love to meet you. This picture shows the 1965 Jacobsen Chief 800 that I purchased last fall from Clyde Potts in Wooster, Ohio. They asked me if it could be displayed on the main stage next to my good friend Billy Orr's beautiful 753. Here is a photo of the C-120 that the tractor club is working on thanks to David Rice, Crawfordsville, IN. It is the tractor located on the right of the photo. Here are a few photos of my tractors, along with some from our club. We have a great turn out so far and can't wait to see what the place looks like once the show begins. If you are getting a little cabin fever and excited for the show season, stop on by and check out what is going on!

6 pointsRaking the stones back into the driveway and back on to the road was my least favorite chore. (and after this winter that wouldn't quit there will be a whole lot of them).. Blisters sore shoulders etc etc. This makes it much easier. Since the picture I have added casters to at the brush ends and weights on the rear wheels and draw bar . The project probably doesn't take an hour of sweeping time ( I have several hundred feet to do.) but it is spread out over a couple of days waiting for good wind conditions. The broom is fixed angle. We have all had snow blower discharge get us but believe me dirt rocks and grass are not something you want in your face when the wind blows the wrong way. This is a permanent set up the C175s only job now. Hooking this beast up is too much work to keep taking it on and off..

4 pointsGave the "replacement" motor another good workout this evening moving the piles from my blowin' and plowin' on the driveway in front of the garage. It runs great. Some smoke on the start-up after a three week sit. Idled rough after use. I still need to fine tune it.

4 pointsHad a harrowing day yesterday. It started off about 7 am with them thinking I was a Mr. Beam and taking me down for a test I wasn't supposed to get..makes us wonder, eh? Lo. Got that sorted then it was my second bone marrow biopsy. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a ticket for that particular roller coaster ride. Next up, echocardiogram where I layed in a hall for 45 minutes and had 3 people some in after me go right in for testing got the test then another half hour in the hallway I lost my patience. That got results. The echo guy took me back himself and he was pretty adamant that this stuff was going to stop. Next and final ddrama/trama for the day was a central line. This actually went pretty smoothly and I will appreciate not being stabbed anymore. Forgive my spelling and punctuation errors as I am learning to use a kindle. Never thought I would refer to my desktop pc as old school but I can't wait to get back to it. Thanks again everyone.

2 pointsOne of my 520's was a later model and I don't like it as well so I am converting it to be like my older style 520-H and 520-HC. Machine was torn down and frame, rear end etc was painted. Upper steering bushing was upgraded to a roller bearing (I did this to my HC as well). Older style simpler wiring harness installed. Hydraulic control is now on the side. Gauges are the (I feel) better metal SW units. Steering wheel has the embossed wheel horse name. Foot motion control will be installed soon. That gets rid of all steering column levers. All bushings have been replaced on control levers, motion control, steering. New axle pivot pin will be installed. Cleat

2 pointsI finished my Blast Cabinet and have been putting it to work. Initially I had a few dust leaks around my front load door, but have improved the seal. Here's some pictures. As I built it, I spent some time working on getting the arm hole height, spacing and window height so I can comfortable sit on a stool while using it. The work area is 30w x 48L x 36D and the cabinet overall is 64" high 1st Blast load, C161 rims, deck belt guards, iron tractor seat, and antique sewing machine stand (I promised my wife this project would help me complete some projects for her!) 24" saw mill blade (someday will be my shop sign) and boat motor covers I've learned one of the side benefits of the large cabinet is that I can work on several items at the same time. I set the sewing machine stand parts and iron seat on top of the rims, By the time I was finished with them, the rims below them were 3/4 blasted Next load WH 42" deck, 312-8 hood & seat pan

PS..I have never met T-MO but I remember him in the ole days before RS and he reminded me one day to join RS as he was really getting involved with the new forum....so I tried to join but found out that I had already joined some time ago and was member # 7.....Karl was # 5....fun times back then, huh, Karl? So Terry, here is a pat on your back for a good deed....but do check in once in a while....even if you still like those GREEN tractors!!

2 pointsI starting collecting every one ever made in about 1985, then I found out how many they made and said forget that! But I wanted every one made from the early one's on up to about 1970. I just about have every one made from 1955 on up to about 1970. Plus a few more that just showed up along the way. I do need a 1957 RJ35( Hey Brrly, need one of your extra 1957's!). I like the early RJ's the most but one of my favorites is my bone stock 551. I had 5 or so 701's and sold a few. Had 5-603's and sold a few of them too. I had 100 tractors at one point and then I figured out I couldn't maintain all of them so I sold off a bunch. Now I have about 50 or more. Still buying them when the price is right, I can always trade them away for better ones. What a great hobby!

1 pointOur 1054, named "Elvira". Muffler is not original, wheels should be white or off-white (I am not sure, anyone know?) and there is a air-horn installed. I am not sure if the seats are recovered either, in other pictures I have seen the covers are two-coloured red and white. That would look good! We have a snowblower and snowblade for her, but they both need restoration because the PO kept them outside for years. A lovely tractor!

1 pointBoy, this could have been alot worse. This last Wed. afternoon I had just finished unloading concrete at a job sight and went to wash my truck up at the washout area. I got out and saw that I needed to back up a couple more inches to get into the tub. I go up to the cab and step up on the bottom step and then the top step. I go to step up into the cab with my left foot and it slips on the floor. I tried to grab the steering wheel but, got nothing but air . Out I went backwards. The truck is a 2014 Peterbilt . I fell about 4 1/2' and landed on my right side. Luckily. I had my hard hat on and it hit the ground and kept my melon from bouncing too hard on the frozen ground. Nothing broken. But, major compression strain on my right shoulder and arm. I cannot hardly lift it. Bruised ribs on right side and bruised hip as well. Taking a couple days off . Hopefully by Mon. I will regain use of my arm. Have to go back to see the Doc. and if I don't show some better range of motion its off to the specialist. Lesson Learned? Slow down, Hang on. . Typing with one hand? Difficult Pat

1 pointWhile surfing the usual ebay I came across this sign and was the first to bid on it. I felt that I stepped up on the max bid of $310 (opening bid and reserve was $295). I was on my cell phone with less than 1 min left I was outbid and when I went to increase my max bid to $325 on the phone I made a mistake and increased it to $325,000.00 !!!!! My service was very slow and I was unable to change it. The other bidder went up to $350 so I got it for $351. That could have been a disaster for sure !!!! I am not sure if I was bidding against anyone here if so sorry. It will make a great addition to my barn.

1 pointEarly and later 520's are different as well. Early 520 (1988, 1989) has the charge wire go from the regulator straight down to the solenoid with an inline fuse just above the starter. I have converted all of mine this way. Later models run the charge current through the 9 pin connector then through the fuse block where it then ties into the harness by the ignition switch. I believe this is why many 9 pin connectors melt on the later models. Cleat

1 pointI made a road trip today for a new toy today. I am not real excited about the tractor that it is on but i am excited about what is hanging off of it. It is a Kwik Way loader with a backhoe. It is on a Yardman 998 tractor made by MTD and is the same tractor as White 1855. It runs well and is actually a nicer tractor than I thought it would be. The backhoe and loader are in decent shape but the loader bucket is pretty bad off. I am playing with the idea of moving it to a 520 that I was putting together for the Ark loader on my C-160. I am a little worried about the size of the 520 vs the yardman. The yardman is physically larger and weighs in at over 900lbs I believe. Here is the required picture.

1 pointI wasn't going to reply to this topic but after a couple of PM's asking my opinion I figured I'd chime in. First and most importantly a fundamental belief that I have. Forums are communities where information is shared. RedSquare is a community for Wheel Horse enthusiasts. We are not a business and aside from forum hats and supporter packages don't sell anything. Our philosophy is and always has been to support as broad a range of collector / owners as we can. We do this through the sharing of technical information, personal friendships and a sense of community for a shared interest. We have and continue to support other communities as well, and they have supported us when we needed it too. In the end all these communities have the same goals to provide information and friendship amongst the members and visitors, and most do it very well. It's been accepted practice here to allow the posting of other forums as well as the discussion of them as long as it doesn't turn into forum bashing. To me, nothing is worse than going onto a community / forum and seeing posts about "that other forum" and how they do this, do that, ban this, edit that.... and that will not be tolerated here of WheelHorseStable or any other forum. So my opinion. I personally like RedSquare, but I have also joined up on WheelHorseStables.com. It is somewhat out of curiosity but also in support of the effort. I am certain that many of you will enjoy both forums, and some will prefer WheelHorseStables and some RedSquare, and that's okay with me, I don't feel that there needs to be a competition. No one is going to get banned from RedSquare because they joined another forum and like it better, really it's okay, there's no such thing as one size fits all in this world. Now, that said, we will insure that proper respect is given to all other communities here on RedSquare, and that means that we can't be having talk of the "other" forum. It's fine to reference posts and information on WheelHorseStables via links where applicable, but please be sure to respect the intellectual property from WheelHorseStables.com as I am sure they will respect ours on RedSquare. So that's my opinion, I hope that you are able to enjoy both, of course RedSquare a little bit more

1 pointI will try to answer everything one at a time Steve. I know there are a lot of questions out there. I didn't build the site to enhance my business. I built it so whoever bought something from me could get help when they needed it from people that could help, especially when I'm not around. When warm weather hits I will be gone a lot. That's why the decal has the site and phone on it and doesn't even mention sales or service. If you concentrate solely on service the sales will follow. I've never advertised in my lifetime, ever. My business has never even had a sign, a name on the building, or the mailbox. It's even pretty much hidden with trees on a hill, and people here who have been to my shop will tell you that it is hard to find even though it's on a main 4 lane highway. I have always said if you treat people right they will beat the door down to get to you. Seems like someone who retired at 52 to play with the Horses has proven that point pretty well. It took me 2 weeks to get the board the way I wanted it, then I wanted about 2 more weeks with the mods to find the obvious bugs, run it through some paces, and do moderator training. Being the Admin, I couldn't even see what other groups could see. It is still member and my customers only now to give it a better shakedown and I'm finding a few more things I have to fix. I'm not new to this board thing either, I owned one over 12 years ago with 60K members. If things stay the way they have been I may never even mention what I have for sale on my site, like I never did here. It's hard to mention what's for sale when I have 14 on a waiting list right now. I can't get them restored fast enough. My CL ad even says the ones pictured are sold and we are getting others ready because we can't keep up... That is what I'm up to as far as sales go, but there is a whole lot more coming. We are also turning a part of the shop it into a fabrication area and going to get much deeper into parts this year We have a shear, roller and brake on the way now. You guys should know by now when I do something I don't mess around...
