8 pointsSpending time with my little man plowing snow on the C-105. We got 7" in Cartersville, Va.

7 pointsWhile surfing the usual ebay I came across this sign and was the first to bid on it. I felt that I stepped up on the max bid of $310 (opening bid and reserve was $295). I was on my cell phone with less than 1 min left I was outbid and when I went to increase my max bid to $325 on the phone I made a mistake and increased it to $325,000.00 !!!!! My service was very slow and I was unable to change it. The other bidder went up to $350 so I got it for $351. That could have been a disaster for sure !!!! I am not sure if I was bidding against anyone here if so sorry. It will make a great addition to my barn.

7 pointsI know you folks up north are sick of the stuff, but here in central Virginia we are always the bridesmaid, never the bride, or put more accurately, we're always cold rain or sleet while people 70 miles north or south of us get the fun. I guess I'm not the only one in these parts doing a victory dance! Anyway, I figure we got somewhere between 8 and 10 inches. I plowed once during the night while it was snowing, and then again this morning when I shot this video. I used a GoPro mounted on the tractor and a Garmin Virb on a tripod. Nothing earth-shattering, just happy to be able to push something!

5 pointsIt's been a long winter here WITHOUT SNOW! I'm thankful we have not had anything like what is going on in the NE, but some light snow every now and is fun! The frozen percipitation was about 1/2" of snow, covered with about 1 inch of sleet. Raleigh was not far enough north to get snow, but not far enough south to get freezing rain. Anyways, here are the pictures. Before: After: Glamour shots: Spent a few hours trying to get the 876 started before throwing in the towel and getting out the 314-8. Couldn't figure out the problem. It would fire after sitting, but never start up. I have spark, but I think the float is sticking which dumps gas into the engine. When I remove the plug, it is soaking wet. I will rebuild the carb with a new kit, and see if that helps. My drive to work this morning:

4 pointsBlue one most likely a 953 and might be worth dealing on. Personally I would leave the 800 Special where it is.
-
4 pointsNice pics! Looks like a fun day for all. I used my C-101 to clear my drive yesterday (and my neighbors) in Chesterfield, VA. We had about 8"-9".

3 pointsVery nice videography and editing. The B-80 does a great job, but this video is really a neighborhood 16, 18, 20hp box store mower smackdown. I love it!
-
3 pointsSteve, now that you said that. I BET someone posts a lawn mowing video. Lol Glenn

3 pointsHere's our little babies. 3 year old Kahlua, a Yorkie and Baylee, a Shih Tzu/Pekingese-Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. She's 14 months old now and has developed a cherry eye so she's scheduled for surgery.

2 pointsWell living in Boston this year we have had a lot of snow just to say the least. About 8 feet in the past 4 weeks and the horses are getting a work out and finding all the weaknesses. I'm out of commission for the snow but the wife, daughter and her boyfriend are keeping up with it. Problems in had this winter are a blown engine in the 72 raider 14 with snow blower attached and smoked bearings on the drive idler and snapped belt on the 312-8. 72 will be down until I can get around again so repaired the 312 and removed front blade from that and installed blower. Just a couple of picks.

2 pointsIt's the first time this winter that we finally got a decent amount of snow to try the 523Dxi. I had been predicted that our area was to be in the 4" -8" band. It ended up to be about 4" or a fraction more. It was nice, fluffy stuff due to the cold. I was out for almost two hours doing mine and five neighbors driveways. I'm happy with the tractor and cab but due to the design, I don't get the heat like the classic Wheel Horse. The airflow is moving forward for cooling on the 5xi series. With the fan drawing the air from the cab cooling the radiator for the diesel, there is quite a bit of air passing through the cab. On the 5xi cab there are actually two vent instead of windows on the rear to draw air from the outside. One advantage though is I don't have to deal with fogging the windshield! I have ideas for next winter on how to reroute the airflow. The single stage snowthrower is everything everybody says it is. A useful piece of information by JerseryHawg/Glenn though. He found out from a dealer that the torque produced by the engines used in the 5xi can tear the single stage apart. This is especially possible with the diesel so I am going to install a tach. I have actually been using a 1/3 throttle setting wihich seems to be the right amount for today. The diesel has been sipping fuel I am glad to report. With four hours of use, it has used approximately 2-1/2 gallons. My Kohlers go through a tank (4.5 gallons of Premium) in the same amount of time! Today's setup. Starting down my one neighbor's long driveway Why you need a cab. A nice plume. On the return. Looks like a toy against the trees A job well done! My Wheel Horse "Gate Guard"

2 pointsWheel horse d250 snow plowing: Wheel horse d250 snow plowing pt.2: The d250 is a beast plowing snow. I took it easy on her. Kept it in 1st gear and about half throttle. And boy lemme tell you it just laughed at the snow. I knocked almost 2 hours off my time by using this machine than my snowblower that i normally would have used.

2 pointsI've got one with a half foot of stainless bolted to the top of it here.

1 pointHello all. I just wanted to post a little about my candidate for the longest rebuild ever on a WH I bought my Grandparents farm back in 2010 when Grandpa died and Grandma moved to town. Along with the farm I grew up on, I inherited this old Horse. When I was a kid it was the first thing I ever drove. It mowed 3 acres for a lot of years before Grandpa got something bigger and parked it outside under this lean to. So I moved in and started tearing it down back in winter of '10. The body was really straight. However, at some point someone had swapped out the 6hp Tech for a K181 Kohler. They also had done some work updating the decals. Notice the original script underneath the more recent decal. I then started in on the epic task of removing both rear hubs and the rear pin in order to split the tranny case to see what needed done. I figured since it sat outside, it had water in it. I was right, but it really wasn't all that bad. Also, I managed to break both hubs (no good puller) and had to drill out the rear pin. When I got it apart, it was a little gunky and dirty, but everything was in good shape, no missing teeth or anything, just some needle bearings that I had probably killed with my sad attempt at hub removal. I also pulled apart, cleaned and reassembled the differential: After some time in the e-tank the halves came out looking pretty good: I am having trouble with getting that last bearing in but otherwise, a few seals and a reassemble and the transmission is done. I have had a ton of fun with this even though it has taken me forever and I am not even into the motor portion of this yet. The body parts have all been e-tanked or stripped to bare metal, primed and repainted. It's a rattle can job, but I have tried to do a nice job on it. This will be a worker when done for garden duty and some log hauling for firewood. Id also like to say, "Thanks" to all the great members on here who have inspired me to keep going with their excellent builds, restos and just a great sharing of information. Especially stevasauras with that uni drive trans rebuild post. I'd have never attempted that without seeing that on here. Thanks to all. Will keep this going as I slowly proceed. I also have removed the old tires and redone the rims with the e-tank. They turned out great in my opinion. I will post more pics as soon as I can.

1 pointPicked up this C-120 a couple of days ago, runs good, nice straight machine. but i noticed it has solid rear wheels. Was this an option, or is this another brand wheel.

1 pointOn the C195 with a helper pushing the snow banks back in anticipation of more snow!

1 pointGlenn Pettit makes a replacement for that knob (lever) and he has done an excellent job. The secret is to insert the pin with pressure from a pair of pliers from below. That keeps the top side fresh to drive out with a roll pin punch, 3/32 if I remember correctly. Also replacing only with a stainless steel pin helps get it out the next time.

1 pointHow could you not want one lol. It just has that bad ass look. Everyone who sees mine loves it and wants one of their own. Id love to add a few more to my collection eventually. I would really like another with a plow so i can stick the wife on it and do a highway stagger to clear the driveway lol.

1 pointJim, if you can easily get any way to take something to REVERSE rotate engine after letting some lubricant set in spark hole, it will usually work. If you do feel to much resistance>>stop, a valve may be stuck DOWN/CLOSED. Have used this successfully twice.

1 pointI know Eatons are really popular here...but I will take my Sundstrand Electro 12 running ATF any day over th 418 A eaton. I even changed the eaton over to Mobil 1 this year, still takes a long time to be ready just to pick up the snowblower so i can move her out the door so I do not asphyxiate myself in the shop. I really do not see enough advantage in response time using the Mobil 1 to justify the added cost. The elctro 12 will pick up her blade and move out to warm up immediately (Well the Kohler need a few seconds to handle engaging the hydro)

1 pointI've had my '93 520H w/ a QuickWay loader for a four or so years now. It is a great machine! I'm really impressed w/ it's power & lift capacity. Mine came w/ dualies, but after snapping the right axle (twice) I've opted for the less stable, but less labor-intensive single rear wheels. As mentioned - I'd definitely focus on the mechanical stuff first, you probably don't want to be spending your $$ on lipstick, glitter & yoga pants when what she really needs is to hit the gym. She may not be the prom queen at this point, but once the mechanical issues are addressed she'll surely put out... and you can pick away at the cosmetics as resources permit.

1 pointGot my d250 all set up. Had my first snow with it the other day. All i have to say is wow this thing is a beast. Supposed to get more tonight. Ill try to get the wife to take a video of this thing in action

1 pointyou just cant stop progress. after a long fight i finally decided I had to do a Business page. seems like everybody is on there now. Oh well.

1 pointUnfortunately, Chessie will be grown up by the time your son is 5. We have three old cats (15 years old) that sleep most of the day, and eat the rest of the time. They are indoor cats and have never known a good day's work. But I wouldn't trade 'em for anything. Here's two of them. The third is probably in the kitchen eating!

1 pointThanks Richie.. There is plenty of space behind the seat for a panel across, I'm not sure if it needs it or not, but it would add extra strength across the back.. Something to think on me thinks More metal work, starting with a small patch at the front.. Chopped.. And patched back up.. Only a bit longer.. Rear panels mostly tacked in place... I was standing on the GT 14+2's seat to get this high up photo Mostly welded up and hit with red oxide to get it all one colour.. When I first put the pan back on I wasn't sure I liked the shape or not.. Maybe the "dropped" bit's should of gone down at an angle? Maybe the top of the drops should have more curve? Anyway, with a seat plonked on and a couple of exhausts sticking it looks a little better.. What do you guy's think? And for your viewing pleasure, here's the latest video.. Enjoy.

1 pointThe 79262 is for a vertical mower -won't work on your tractor without major rebuilding of the blower! Check drawings on Partstree.com Hit the Toro logo and place 79262 in the Model box and you can see drawings of the blower .

1 pointOk The blade is done and I am very pleased with the way it turned out. Like I said before plumbing the hydraulic lines from the original lift valve was the worst part. Hard to get to, But I was able to unbolt the valve and remove the lines from the lift cylinder, and pull it out through the dash and remove the return line to the filter. Then I installed the sae6 o-ring fitting into the valve and attach the new hose to go to the angle valves. Then I had to run a new line from the angle valves to the filter. I removed the filter housing and plumbed in a new fitting and reinstalled the filter and housing. Then I installed the fittings into the hood. They didn't turn out like I wanted, as I couldn't put all male fittings strait out. They are too close together, so I put two female connectors on top and two males on bottom on a angle. After I had it all plumbed I had to wire the valves. I made a nice switch box to control the blade and mounted it to the seat pan. The power goes from fused power when the key is on to a on-off switch just under the hood. This way if the switches get bumped with the blade off, it won't dead head the pump in the eaton trans. Last I installed the chains front and rear and its ready for old man winter or mother nature at the end of this post will be a video (if I can get it to work) of the blade wit Tom operating the blade. The original return line from the valve to the filter The new lines from the original lift valve to the angle valves and back to the filter. And the front of the tractor with the ports sticking out Last the switches and on off switches And a look of the complete tractor I cant wait for winter and the link thingy for the video
