The Mid-Atlantic States have sort of been left out of this Winter's favorite pastime. This has been especially hard for me, originally from a more snowy part of the country, with a new (to me) tractor and snowthrower setup to try out. Tonight we are predicted to finally get 6"-12" of snow in our area. Paladin and Oxford are in the wings and ready! Waiting on the bench "batting cleanup" in their warm-ups are Larrabee, Pancho, and Hopalong.

Took the day off to shovel the 24" off my roof. Quite the task, only managed to get the first 7 feet off but it has to have lessened the load on my roof framing....right . Then I cleared off the snow that went from the roof to my walkway and decided to take a couple snaps before I got back into the house for a warm up session! The walkway: The roof (of course): Gotta make sure the mailman can get my bills to me: No sunbathing on the deck for awhile: My dome/tent shed...still standing: Have to be able to access any WH parts so a path to the shed is a must: Been keeping it off the top to prevent a collapse...but the sides are a whole new battle: Lets call it insulation: How about a romantic pic of my WH in the snow next to a lamp-post...can you see the WH: Better pic on my plow machine: The worlds best tires: The worlds best tires leave their mark: On one of the backyard trails: That's all from Sunny but cooooold Andover Connecticut! I have a couple of Beagles Emma is on the right and is Bruno's Mom. Typically they aren't allowed on the furniture but sometimes they forget.. I wasn't off the couch for two seconds and they decided to make themselves comfy. They are both very friendly though Bruno is more of a people dog... Emma's best friend is FOOD and if given half a chance she'll take it right out of your hand. (not mine though) Then there is Kia, the cat I rescued at work. She was born in the wild but is the friendliest cat you will ever meet.. The three of them get along great and you will often find the three of them curled up together in front of the wood stove. Kia even lets the two mutts sleep in HER bed..

I am proud to introduce my little girl "Bonte". She came to us as a previously abused stray and lived in my shop office for the first few years (our old crotchety house cat was not interested in sharing). She would hide behind a life size cut-out of NASCAR driver Bobby LaBonte until I sat down at the desk, then would feel it was safe to come out, thus the name Bonte. The old cat passed away a few years ago and now she is Queen of the roost.

Unfortunately, Chessie will be grown up by the time your son is 5. We have three old cats (15 years old) that sleep most of the day, and eat the rest of the time. They are indoor cats and have never known a good day's work. But I wouldn't trade 'em for anything. Here's two of them. The third is probably in the kitchen eating!

Well it's 0 degrees and there's nothing else to due so I decided to re due the barn. I sold some tractors and move some out for other members to enjoy. Don't worry everybody I'll fill the barn back with more wheel horses tractors eventually. The loader with attached forks worked great for putting tractor in the rack and as well taking them down. I started Saturday at 10 am to Sunday 3am. I was frozen as the wind chill was -15 but I'm from Buffalo where use to these winters...

All- Sorry about the poor quality of the video however when you ask the wife to take a video of anything tractor action related you take what you can get. This is a few days after clearing the driveway and 60+ mph winds blow it back on the driveway. It was pretty crusty and hard but the blower cleaned it up pretty good. Snowblowing feb 2015.MOV

In a pinch, you use what you have. I have used nails instead of cotter pins many times, then I bought a pack of assorted hairpin cotter pins and haven't used a nail or regular cotter pin for that matter since.

So am I the only one that has their eyes set on a new horse to buy with my tax returns? I found a 416 hydro on Craigslist the other day and if it's still on there when I get my federal taxes back I'm going to go look at it.

'Cause the Work Horse is new to the herd, tried a 4" snow push. Other than a little mowin' the Horse hasn't tried a plow on till today. I added the dial-a-height to the Horse, and shortened the lift link to keep the blade from hitting an embankment leaving the barn. The dial-a-height makes a big difference on my gravel drives. The 16 hp Briggs 2-cyl performed flawlessly. With the forecast as is, we plow every four or six inches. Easier. Drives are long, gravel. Sold my snowblower, just didn't trust rock tossin'. Those Horses in the Northeast will have as much as they can handle. Do you Northerners plow/blow incrementally? Finished snowing, only 5" or so. The Work Horse worked it's hoofs off painlessly.

The Ms. doesn't see one different than the other. The Horses live in the barn with all of us. Bank barn, the Horses come 'n go in the two back barn doors where the furry horses used to bed down.

Something here should work. Can't wait to see what that little Sears iron 2 wheeler will do. The new 520 w/ heated cab will be my go to machine on cold days. The Yammy 4wheeler is for clean up on warm days. The C-125 is the back up blower. Of course the two long handles always work.
