15 pointsI headed to Western Indiana today to pick up a 701 I bought from Devin Stutler. I like it and I understand several other Red Square members must have liked this tractor also as this was owned by at least three other members (and a couple twice each) ! Fairly original but some additions modifications. Yes that is a chromed metal dash someone invested in to convert the factory plastic dash that the 701 came with when new! I am going to place a Hydraulic Pump on this to left a snowplow and garden plow (and other attachments) that I bought last fall. I don't plan much in the way of modifications -maybe tri-ribs on the front wheels and clean up the and paint the wheels. This is going to be used for what it was made to do.

14 pointsFound very hard to find Wheel horse tractor today. I got a call from a friend a few days ago who knew a friend that knew a friend that his cousin knew a friend's mom and his moms dad had this tractor lol. Well it was a sweet barn find Wheel horse 420LSE!!! The production plate is missing on the hood but the owners manual I think it's number #77... Awesome Find!!!! I don't even know the value on these tractors don't see to many up for sale.Its been sitting for years now but I fire up engine and runs very good. Overall tractor is in good shape and needs alot TLC. Super excited!!

8 pointsHi all, I once made my own front and added led lights on project C4. This time it is project bendy in need of lighting and whilst I have a cast reflector, I thought hell...why not make the whole lot... I bought some really nice 12v led bulbs with reflectors knowing I could mount them quite easily. So out with a sheet of ally and a template Some 46mm holes and push them through Cut out a piece of lexan and add a new headlight sticker And here it is in place on bendy When the hood is painted I will mount it all properly

7 pointsFinally got the K-Series 416 I have been searching for for awhile. No smoke at startup or while running and the throttle shaft is very tight. I think its a low hour tractor with some age on it is all. The wiring is unmolested and the steering is tight. Came with a very solid 48 inch deck. Talked to the owner off and on for 2 weeks and finally made the trip today. Last Saturday the roads where iffy going over the Mtns.

7 pointsGentlemen...I have to add this. If you are going to have a site to enhance your business (which makes perfect since), why would you want to have it closed to members only?? I would think that I would want to make it available to any Ja-moke that was interested in what Geno has for sale, prices for things, and a list of inventory. Just thinking.

5 pointsMy old A90 Special doesn't quite run as good as I would like with that old Briggs motor on it, so I got to thinking about what modern tractor I could mount a snow blade on. I got a nice 310-8 Speed from a member (Callen) a few years ago, so I figured I would try to mount a snow blade on it to see if it would work. I had to move several other tractors to get to the machine. They were frozen to the ground so that made it harder to move them out of the way! Once I moved a few tractors out of the way, I put a battery in the 310-8 Speeder and it fired right up! I parked it in front of the garage and started to mount the blade on it. It didn't take very long since WH made a great set up to make it easy. I pulled the lift handle up to see what would happen and the plow A frame hit on the front axle so the lift handle lock wouldn't click into place. I readjusted the center mount to another hole and tried it again. This time it worked as it should so I think I got lucky on that! So phase one is complete! The back tires were the stock turf tires and I know they wouldn't do anything in the snow from past experiences. So I checked the parts pile and I didn't have a good set of 8X12 bar lug tires that would work. But I did have several pairs of 6X12 bar lugs, so I decided to put a set of dual rear wheels on this bad boy! I jacked up the tractor and removed the old wheels and installed the first set of bar lugs. It looked kind of cool with the skinny meats on it and then I mounted the 2nd set of 6X12 tires on it and it looked really cool! I decided since it looked so good that I may as well clean up the entire machine! I even cleaned up the rusty hub caps that were on it and now it looks killer! I fired it up and went to find some snow to push around. There wasn't much left around since I took care of it with the A90, but I managed to push a little bit here and there. It worked well and it looked even better! So now I have 2 snow pushers ready for action! Bring on the 6 to 10 inches! That is what she said! Lol!

4 pointsWhy not? EDIT: I can't speak for Geno here but, If I was going to create a business for WH's I would want to give a place for my customers to seek out answers with my business name as well. Not saying they can't do it here on RS because we all know this is wealth of information here. It makes business sense.

4 pointsHere is something better than a Honda Track Snowblower! It's 48" wide but I'm not sure if I would classify it as a ride-on or walk-behind. Maybe a Stand-Behind? It has the appearance of the Wheel Horse Two-Stage snowblower only larger.

Registered this morning, thinking about getting prepared to tackle her RJ helps takes my mind off the cold wind of Winter outside... Sorry the pic is rotated, can't figure out how to fix that.

3 pointsMy plans with the 420lse is too keep it orginal as possible. All the chrome will polished up nice. Obviously change all the fluids and filters. The rear tires are loaded belive my back tells me they are lol. So I'll drain them in a local creek just kidding. I love ag tires but I think I'm just going to buy all turf tires. No repainting just orginal the way it is. Also I think I'm going to get a name plate for the hood....

2 points(Bob)....Duke did a conversion on one of his 520's where he mounted a remote oil filter. This is an excellent idea and opens more air flow through the rear cylinder and at the same time, should cool the oil better plus it increases the total volume of oil for the engine. He ran the lines out of the tins and made a little circular adapter plate to close the opening up. This also makes changing the filter easier and you don't get oil everywhere when you have to tip the filter to get it out of the small opening where it is in the stock position. (All pluses)! Of all the mods I have seen on Onan powered Toro-Wheelhorses, Duke's remote filter is the best one in my opinion.

2 pointsThe chrome steering wheel is original, Congrats on your find! The 420's don't pop up for sale very often. I have been offered close to 3K for mine but contrary to what some people may think, money isn't everything and its not for sale. If I sold mine then where do I go? 3 grand is gone faster than a fart in a wind storm.. Beside's it is nice to have something that most guys don't have..

2 pointsI agree with the other comments on changing the bolts and cleaning the cutting edge. When I get a new plow I change all the carriage bolts and paint the plow and cutting edge to remove and rust , dirt and residue which collets underneath the cutting edge. It does help with longevity.

2 pointsI have rebuilt countless Kohler engines and primarily use aftermarket parts because of cost. Not a single one has ever had a problem. Proper rebuilding procedures will give excellent results.

2 pointsThe fun part has began! Got the hood and frame painted on sunday. Tonight I put the drive system and the steering together, it is as far as I can go for now, but was glad to start assembling it. Still have the get the wheels and speed selector arm done, but everything else is done. I am going to get some bolts plated, and then I can put it most of the rest of the way together. Anyways, heres a couple pictures, going together very easy so far, very happy with how its turning out. Thanks, Jake

1 pointAt this point Geno's site is a forum....kind of like this one....not nearly as polished...but it is a forum....and a nice one too! He is only allowing members to join up for stability purposes but eventually will allow guests... I personally like Geno...I have met him and he is genuine. Loves Wheel Horses!! I have joined his forum and plan to frequent his site, RS, as well as MTF.... Be patient...it is FCFS at this point. Why another forum you ask... Well...why another restaurant.....why another anything.....choices...it's all about choices.... If it is only RS then we all get shoehorned into one culture....I like choices...

1 pointSomeone fashion a stainless steel door hinge as the bottom hood piece and I like this a lot. I am just going to keep it like that Terry! Works great and you only have to use the two 1/2 x 20 screws on the gas tank to hold the hood down. It also has a hinged cover over the work box which I am going to modify with a handle, etc.

1 pointWell, I'm in Dallas, Texas for a retreat thing with my wife, and we're DRIVING back to Indiana tonight. We'll be leaving about the same time the snow is starting at home 1109 miles away in Muncie, IN. If and when we make it back, I'll be using the blower with my custom "10 minute tall chute" conversion to clear our 6-10" since the tractor with the plow on it decided all 4 tires were finally too dry rotted to hold air.

1 pointJeff, the issue is most likely either low battery voltage or a stuck "Bendix" on the starter. Its cold outside and if the battery is anywhere near 10 years old, the battery will need to be replaced. Age is a factor and the cold temperatures only serve to aggravate the issue. The cold may also be causing any petrol based lubricant on the Bendix to stiffen and prevent the assembly from engaging with the flywheel. The 2.5 meter reading on the charger is the charging AMPERAGE, not the voltage. But the fact you were charging at 2.5 amps or above does indicate the battery charge needed. The harbor freight meter will work fine. Place the selector switch on 20 volts DC range, the red lead attached to the battery (+) and black lead to battery (-). Crank the engine with the meter leads in place on the battery. A voltage indication less than 10 volts indicates a bad battery. Hammering on a kohler starter is not a good practice. If I were stuck out in the woods with the wolves circling, I might try that trick, but damage can be done. Be aware there are large, brittle magnets lining the inside of the starter. If you crack one of the magnets, you will need to replace the starter.

1 pointI don't see that Geno is going to hurt the rest of us who do this as a hobby. Yes he will drive hundreds of miles to buy tractors. but when he does he buys a collection of five or more. Sometimes as many as 30 at one time. For him it is not profitable to drive 50 to a hundred miles for one tractor. For me I will drive two hundred miles to get one if it is something I want. He could not survive doing that. The good thing for me is I just made a great deal for a 520-H with 60 in deck and he is going to hold it for me till I can get it. And the price was exactly what I thought it was worth to me. Of course I really am a hobbyist. I buy a Wheel Horse and I restore it. That's why I buy it. The fun of doing the work is what I get out of it. I would never sell one to make any money for any reason. My belief is that if you do this and then resell them, you are in fact running a part time business. Now before anyone gets their panties in a knot, I personally don't care one way or another what the other guy does. I am sure we all love what we do with these wonderful machines. If anything I am jealous of Geno. He has a beautiful wife who supports him in everything he does and has turned his hobby into a business that he gets to work right alongside his wife in. If is was a bit younger I might try that myself. Can it get any better than that?
