9 pointsHey guys, I'm back. On Dec. 8 I had a Laminectomy on 4 of my lumbar vertebre. The operation was necessary because over the past several month I was gradually losing the ability to walk any distance or even to stand long enough to brush my teeth. The operation was a success and I came home able to walk to the end of the driveway and back with no pain. Then came the dreaded infection. with severe pain and high fevers. Back to the hospital for another operation. I spent Christmas there loaded with antibiotics and enough crap to kill any infection known to man. After three days with no fever they let me come home. Weak as a kitten and need a walker to get around. The family held off Christmas until I came home so we will do it New Years Eve. Thanks guys for caring and thanks Butch for letting them know.

6 pointsI recently picked up this 953 from a friend. It runs, the hydro and deck seem to work fine and he said he mowed with it once so it should drive fine too but I haven't tried it yet. It defiantly needs some work, including being rewired but overall a good solid tractor. It is serial number 155 ! I have some questions. The pump sticks out past the cover so it is off,I have been told the early 953's had the longer pump with a cut out for it in the guard ? The guard that came with this tractor does not have a cutout. Also the front spindles on this tractor don't look like other 953 spindles that I have seen (this is the third 953/1054 that I have had). What should the early spindles look like, were they different from later 953 spindles ? Somebody did cut a hole in the hood to check the oil and while that sucks, they did such a good job that it looks factory if you didn't know better.

6 pointsI got this little C81 a few days ago.I have known of the tractor thru a couple of owners (both friends) for a couple of years. It's nice enough to be a worker but not so nice to be afraid to use it every day. I used a little rubbing compound to get the paint to shine a little. Looks like a little paint on the wheels and a seat and it will turn out pretty nice. I also just bought a nice solid rd 42 inch deck complete with covers from someone else for the huge sum of $25 that will go nicely on this tractor.

4 pointsHey Brandon...here is what I would have worn to watch the Oklahoma game with you... mainly for protection from flying objects. Here is my outfit for watching the Notre Dame game at Bob's house...
-
4 pointsFireman came over this past weekend and helped me get the huge beam in place and set up the pulley/trolley system. Today I spent the day building the railing system around the stairs on the upper level and started to bring down some of my antique outboard collection.... Good day.

3 pointsHi All, I've been searching for a 160-8 speed for a couple years now, just never found the right deal on one, well yesterday I finally did. This one was about an hr from me, it had been sitting for about 10 years, but looked saveable. I ended up have to change the battery. key switch and points, and all the electrical stuff worked and I had spark. Finally I put some gas in it and it fired right up, didn't seem to smoke to bad either. It needed the carb cleaned though, so I took that off an hr or so ago and rebuilt it , I also attempted to wash it a little bit, its not the greatest, but I'll pressure wash it when we get some warm weather. It seems to run ok and the trans works good too. Has the 13 fin k341 too. I'm planning to just clean it up for now and get everything working good, and maybe paint the wheels. Anyways here's some pictures of it, I'll try to add a picture of it after I get it back together after a little bit of a clean up. Deck is in decent shape, its currently locked up, but feels like it will free up and the shell has no thin spots or rust holes

3 pointsGood job guys! Like Steve said in an earlier post, I didn't want to see LSU win anyway! Of all the teams I like to see loose there in the top 3! And the field gets a little tighter.........
-
3 pointsHard fought and much deserved win for the Irish. Bad calls happen, that's football. I couldn't be happier to miss a pick than to see an SEC team go down. Congrats RacinBob for your team's victory!!
-
3 pointsI agree Steve. The call on the field was going to rule that one (your 4:50 post). But I guess only you and I only knew the winner of this one!!

3 pointsOMG...we are having a very intelligent conversation here!! OH, OK...Squonk, RMCIII, Horsefixer and Brrly1 have not been in here yet. :ychain: :ychain:
-
3 pointsI think he's too busy trying to decide which Notre Dame shirt he wants to wear today.
-
3 pointsHey, today is the day for the 2 Bobs, (RacinBob and Horsefixer). They get to finally watch their favorite team play...Notre Dame vs LSU. Is it Notre Dame that picked up Jim Harbaugh as their new coach?? I thought I heard that. GO ND!!!
-
2 pointsI posted a couple pics about a month ago.My 702 was just a stripped frame then.Check out the pics now.I sand blasted, primed and painted the frame and front axle.Blasted, primed and painted the rims.Put on new tubes and tires.Assembled whats done so far into a rolling chassis. The seat ,rear fenders and tool box are blasted and waiting for primer and paint.Gotta combine the best parts of 2 Kohler 7 horse engines into one, clean up the engine and paint it.Been slow going.Had a cold for about 3 weeks that I just can't shake.Enjoy the pics.
-
2 pointsWOW...WHAT A GAME...ND 31...LSU 28....NEVER A DOUBT. :happy-jumpeveryone: :happy-jumpeveryone: :happy-jumpeveryone:
-
2 pointsLooks like ND came to play...I am liking the 2 quarter back thingy. Is there any way to stop the live stream on ESPN?? I am getting so tired of reading about Jim Harbaugh.
-
2 pointsTrevor Knight...I did not know about all that until yesterday when they showed the footage of the Baylor game...Holy Cow...what a great story for him to be even walking. I think I would have replaced him sometime in the 3rd quarter, but the game was over by then. Pretty cool that OK went with him though. The Harhaugh thing...while it is going to be a good thing for the Big Ten as a conference...Is NOT going to be good for all the other teams like Illinois...just sayin'. Remember when it was only Oklahoma and Nebraska in the Big 12??
-
2 pointsSteve, The OU game was horrible. Trevor Knight has always been inconsistent but I didn't realize his injury was going to effect him that bad. He just couldn't get comfortable and I'm doubting he will ever be the QB we need him to be. Between that and our secondary coverage being so bad it was painful to watch. Bob Stoops better get it figured out and start earning that fat paycheck! I do think he is a good coach but has made some bad decisions (like punting a second time to OSU) and has lost his edge as of late. I think you have good reason to be excited about Michigan getting Harbaugh. It will be good to see them improve and putting some pressure being on Ohio State.
-
2 pointsI see Duke has been logged into this thread for the last hour and a half. I wonder he's changing his pick for this game.
-
2 pointsI'm kinda wondering if that's enough armor Steve. As if they weren't young enough the sophomore Malik is starting I guess that's better than a sure 4 or 5 turnovers.
-
2 pointsYou guys need to quit picking on Duke. I'm taking his side. You know, us diehard Notre Dame fans stick together

2 pointsCasually just browsing through Home Depot Rental Center a couple of years back, I noticed that they had for sale a couple of the 6400 used saws for sale. They were $250.00 each. Bought one since I was looking for a large chainsaw not knowing much about them, but being extremely fond of anything made by Makita.. On top of it it came with all the maintenance and rental records. This thing was barely used. They stated that they have to replace them every couple of years regardless how much they are used. On top of that deal guy tells me to hang on and he comes back with a 5 gallon bucket full of chains. Tells me they are not allowed to get them sharpened and have to put a new one in every time saw comes back. After that doing some research learned that saw is a Dolmar who was bought by Makita. This thing is absolutely unstopable. Incredible power and balance. Easy starts. A little on the heavy side but i guess for something this size it would be heavy. Since then I also bought a small Makita arborists saw also made by Dolmar which is also a really good performer.
-
2 pointsToday Ol' Duke gets to watch his other favorite team take on LSU. You know, the one that made it to a bowl game..
-
2 pointsI use chain saw bar chain oil. The manual says to use 30 W oil. Go to Harbor Freight and buy a cheap oil squirt oiler and getting it on the chain will be no problem. To keep the snow from sticking, many here have recommended Sno-Jet. Home Depot carries it for $10. I have not tried it yet, but I bought a can this year. Members here with TALL CHUTE blowers report that they can throw snow close to 40 feet. I can get 25 feet easily without it. Of course, I am powering with a 20 hp motor. My neighbor across the street has a JD 314 and with a short chute like yours, he can throw easily 15 feet (and he does not know about snow jet-YET)
-
2 pointsIt really depends on what the surface is like Butch and whether or not its a wet heavy type snow that gets slick as it gets packed. My driveway is packed gravel which no doubt helps with traction. I tried using ags only with weights and without weights and sometimes even with the weights on chains were needed. I think the tractor makes a big difference as well. I'll take a good strong hydro tractor over an 8 speed tractor for pushing snow any day of the week. I made this video a few yrs. ago of my Electro 12 with ags and no weights. The snow was fairly heavy, you can tell I had to gather up a little ramming speed at times but it did ok... In all of the different tractors I have used thruout the better part of the last 30 yrs. this Electro 12 was second best to a strong 520 H.
-
2 pointsI use chains, but on regular turf tires. Need them to. Asphalt driveway. Glenn
-
2 pointsThey're fine until you encounter ice. I use chains on gravel driveway. There's nothing better for my needs. Well...... Ok a mini skid steer blower. But then I'd be divorced so ill continue to love my WH!
-
2 pointsNew doors on the house, a new kitchen stove, and little trinkets. This was the year that my wife and I decided to put money in to the new house. My son Zach was the big winner with a new blade for his tractor. He was pretty excited when he went outside!
-
1 pointThanks Glen,M_Bailey,Jeremi,953 nut ,and Ironman. 953 nut,the steering wheel isn't original. I am interested in knowing any differences between the early and late 953's,so anyone with knowledge,I would love to hear your input. I will go get a couple of pictures of the front spindles. Ironman I believe the wheelbase is 48 inches so probably around 68 inches long ? I would guess around 40 inches wide.

1 pointWell the magnum 20 has a pressurized oiling system so i can tap into the adapter for the oil switch for an oil supply and route it back into the motor. As far as the fuel goes,I will have to work on that. I dont want a fake bottle on it. At least with the turbo you would get the sound to go along with it. Its just something I was toying around with.If it happens it happens,if not....oh well. 1 pointNow that was an entertaining 30 minutes of football. I'm sure glad they couldn't see his knee! I've never been a fan of the two quarterback thingy Steve but it certainly is working so far. A long ways to go but no matter what happens I'm thinking like a Cubs fan....just wait till next year!
-
1 pointwheres the pot that goes on the bottom so you can fill it with gas, loom it up and watch the engine burn when you get mad at it. Lol.
-
1 pointStill doing it the same way Jim...just added the spread sheet. The spread sheet shows who picked which games...I kind of like that part of it...especially when like 5 games were played.
-
1 pointBrandon, I just do not believe what happened to the Big 12 yesterday...lost all 3 games. Oklahoma and Texas couldn't do anything right. Penalties, missed tackles, over-thrown passes. It was painful to watch.
-
1 pointAg tires look great and with added weight work well in the dirt but as most have said they don't do well once you build up any hard pac or ice. As Kelly states, " chains and turfs are hard to beat ..." Sent from my tractor seat.
-
1 pointShort link is 1/4" x 1-1/4" x 5-3/8" long. Two holes are 3/8" dia, 4-1/8" center to center. I use two 3/8" clevis pins and hair pin cotter pins. I've made a few of these, easy enough. When the plow is put up for summer or when I'm not using it, lift link is secured to the frame. By the way, Geno forgot the links. I'm goin' to the homeowner today, "Did Geno pickup the Horse?"

1 pointBack when I was a kid,I think I was 12(43 yrs ago).I bought my 1st Wheel Horse. My Dad was a (dare I say)John Deere guy.We also had a donkey. One day we were out in the barn and Dad was helping me on the horse turning it into a puller, and when a wrench sliped and he hit and busted open his knuckles. He called the Wheel horse ---Damned old mule, from there we called the tractor Wheel-mule.Friends(?)started calling me Wheel-mule plus my Dad said I was as stubborn as a mule.

1 pointHello All and Happy New Year, It was such a nice day and the rain quit early. Temps close to 50.... So I took my kids out back on our property to use the new (to them) 125 Yamaha I bought for Xmas and I brought along my Henry Lever 22 I bought used for myself... Days like this make me appreciate the woods and where I live even more.... so anybody else have some Xmas gifts to show off? 1 pointWhat did I get for Christmas??? A smaller checking account! Probably the best gift I did get was a Chormecast device so I can play anything from my computer on my 50" TV. No wires, just click and enjoy. Makes watching movies from the net or youtube videos nice (and with surround sound). First thing I did was pull up some Wheel Horse videos on Youtube and the family started groaning "what have we done? He is going to be doing this all the time".
