12 pointsWell my boy, Zach, has been asking for a plow for his tractor for some time now. He has been clearing snow with me ever since he was 10 months old. He isn't old enough to be turned loose on his own yet, but he will be ready. I need to pick up a few more new bolts and it will be ready. The blade was purchased from Gene Simpson for a good deal. It then was disassembled and taken over to our powder coater. Now the finishing touches are being done and then under the tree it goes for Christmas morning. Can't wait to see his reaction!

4 pointsSeems kinda kooky looking... like something the Grinch would use to steal Christmas presents.
-
3 pointsNo I didn't give my little boy his snow plow yet. Instead I treated myself to a Christmas present. . Though this one needs a little TLC, I thought it would be another good conversation piece for the collection. From my understanding these were promotional tools for the dealers if they wanted to purchase one. They did not originally come with an engine but many had an engine dropped in them so they could be sold. This one has an engine that needs some wiring help. Hoping to touch up the paint in a few places and just have fun with it. It is about time to reorganize the barn once again!!!
-
3 pointsGot in a little taxidermy work while watching the paint dry on the Commando 8 parts. Got my buck ready for the cape but that probably won't get mounted till Feb. Made a little "bunny" paper weight from Owens doe foot. I'll surprise him with this on his 12th birthday in Jan.

2 pointsRed Square: I am working on developing a replacement for the circuit boards in the 300, 400, 500 series tractors. To do that I need help from you guys in a couple ways. I am trying to figure out how many styles there were and what they looked like (that's where the pictures come in) I know what they DO from the schematics posted but I need to know physical layout for sizing and placement of LED's and connectors. For this I need help from anyone that has a dead or dismantled circuit board laying around. If you are willing to ship one off to me I will be giving you a discounted rate at buying an equivalent number of replacements. My timeline is approximately 6 months depending on how much help I get.

2 pointsYou may also want to consider contacting Glenn Petit for a possible colaboration on a formed silicone 'gasket' or 'collar' to seal out liquid intrusion at the point the PCB mates with the molex connector.
-
2 pointsI will send some measurements for the 418 and 416 (appear to be identical). I will also post how to modify non blinking oil low lights to make them blink on low oil detection. If you are able to get a snapshot of the wiring connector layout for a 300 series PCB, that would help to advance the cause.

2 pointsPeople who are good at solving problems (Dr's, Mechanics) will easily solve this, others who just get a bigger hammer or park their tractor behind the garage, can't: Can you meet this challenge? I've seen this with the letters out of order, but this is the first time I've seen it with numbers. Good example of a Brain Study: If you can read this OUT LOUD you have a strong mind. 2 pointsI'm definitely with you guys after watching that video. This tractor turned that slow since I got it, even when it would start. Not saying I didn't have other issues, which should now be fixed, but this thing definitely needs to turn faster. I'm really leaning towards the starter and not towards too much compression. Reason I say that is I would be confident it didn't have too much compression when I bought it and it turned that slow then. I have a new battery in it that has been load tested and I have cleaned all connections from the battery to the starter. I will try the jumper cables again just be sure then I guess this weekend I will pull the starter and attempt to disassemble and clean. Wish me luck and I will post back with results.

1 pointJust wondering if any of the eight or nine Floridians with Wheelhorses are going to the show in Feb. I am planning on going for the friday 20th show. Post up here. We can meet up somewhere http://www.floridaflywheelers.org/events.html
-
1 pointWhen I saw this, I knew if was for me. Take a look at the sign, although it isn't wheel horse, it certainly fits the bill. It will look good in a wheel horse display!
-
1 pointIs this a wheel horse cultivator? The guy i bought it from says he thought he bought it from a wheel horse dealer. He said the thing on top is a potato picker.

1 pointKennedy, I'm using a CVA Firebolt Ultramag that is bolt action style. Shoots good but I think its about time to pass it on to my son (even if he isn't big enouth to handle the weight). It's about 10 years old and I'm really ready to get a new break over - easy to clean and I won't have to have that stupid tool to get the primer in place! Ed, I love that "bunny" and the personalized picture with the case is awsome. I love stuff like that. A memory the two of you will always have! I made a bow holder years ago with some deer legs. I plan on helping my son build a new one with his first deer.

1 pointI picked this Lawn/garden cart about a week ago at an auction. I thought it was nice, not only because it is Wheel Horse , but also because of its size. The thing is 4 foot long! I don't have one any bigger.... yet..... I have got one coming Saturday that I don't know if it can be even considered a lawn cart because of its size! I will post a little peek of that cart Back to the wheel horse cart, how old is it? It looks early 90's to me. That's just me anyway...

1 pointMerry Christmas to me. Watch youtube video linked below. Still needs some adjustments. And there is a friction/rubbing/tapping kind of noise that sounds like it's coming from around the flywheel but there is definately nothing contacting right there. Can you hear this? Let me first state that my battery is new and has just recently been load tested. This tractor started when I put a 50 amp bump to it. I DO NOT believe it was spinning the starter any faster though. And after it ran for awhile I shut it off, waited a minute, and it fired right back up without the 50 amp bump. Anyways, watch the video and let me know what you hear. I believe my distant neighbors heard me woohoo!!! Why did it start with a 50 amp bump if it didn't seem like it made the starter spin faster? At least nothing close to as fast as the video included above. Do you hear the friction sound and what do you think that may be? Engine is not running smooth. Video is about 2/3 throttle after it had been running awhile. At idle (no throttle) engine runs smooth. Carb adjustments? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmCMc1shTK4&list=UUSN3o_alk10JkTtW4rMLhYw&index=1

1 pointWhat type of inlines are you guys using? This year and last year Ohio added a two day, antlerless, muzzleloader in October. The regular muzzleloader season is in January. Too cold for me then. Our archery is September 27- Febuary 1. Our gun season is only one week long and always starts the Monday after Thanksgiving. Nice paper weight Ed, Im sure he will like it. Mark

1 pointlast summer i traded for a 520. i wanted a 520 for a dedicated snow blower tractor for my 2 stage blower and hopefully ad a cab to it down the road. i was told when i got it that it possibly had a bad trigger on it. my friend that i got it from took as a trade in and hadn't fooled with it. the po had taken it to another dealer and they told the po that it needed a trigger other things and wasn't worth fixing. i thought i was told the coil had been replaced but don't remember for sure. any way i brought it home and cleaned the carb and checked the trigger, it checked out ok so i proceeded to get it fired up and added my 2 stage blower. it ran okay but not great and started harder then i would have liked to have had. i changed the spark plugs out and that helped but didn't correct the hard start especially when cold. when cold you would have to crank and crank on it to get it started. i tried several different things to get it started like spraying carb cleaner in it and nothing helped, finally last sat i tried to start it and almost gave up. i needed to carry a heavy motor out of the back of the shed and the dang thing wouldn't start. i walked away and got another tractor and cart to help hall the motor to my truck and decided to try one more time and luckily it did start. it always would start after the first cold start and it had some stumble when throttling up around mid range rpms. i was so disgusted i was ready to swap motors on it. so i talked to my friend who i got it from and he suggested plug wires and check the coil. i replaced the wires last night and still no start. so i found a used coil that i had laying around and hooked it up and it fired right up. i just went out to the shed and tried it again and it fired right up. so i think i fixed it for now till something else goes lol . so i thought i would share my experience with everyone else and hopefully help somebody else out of a jam since this is my blower tractor i needed to be able to depend on it and i wasn't sure that i could till now. so now i feel a lot better eric j

1 pointThat's the plan. It will be a worker. Replacing the roller pins right now which were pretty worn on one side.

1 pointMy other "addiction" is boat building. One of my first boats was a 15' skiff that I built around a pair of Briggs & Stratton powered trash pumps. Boat was a hit at the local boat shows, someone asked my name and a buddy yelled out "JetMan", the name stuck. The boat is long gone, we burned it after a major frame failure while fishing in the ocean. Link to a short video of mt jet boat idling at the dock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37tCtlztX4s&list=UUK3E0Pur68BzWQi7H3YwIGQ Dan a.k.a. Jet Man Dan

1 pointGreat job guys! Especially like the stories about the young guys/gals getting that first deer. I bought a Ruger Compact American 243 for my son and tried to get him out this year but it just never worked out for him to get to go/want to go more than a couple of times. Maybe the passion will take off next year. I did manage to get him to help me with some pics of the one I got with the smoke pole.

1 point6 Grand is certainly a good hunk of change but who am I to judge. 6 grand wouldn't get you much in the way of a new John Deere or Cub Cadet garden tractor. I have certainly paid the price for things I thought I wouldn't be able to live without thru the yrs. Seniors aren't easy to come by, I think now that this NOS 420 is gone we won't be seeing too many more NOS 420's for sale either.. Another thing to remember is not everyone is into Senior's, maybe he collect's the later tractor's, might even be a member in good standing here.. Now, the real question is.... Will he run it???? And congrats to the new owner! Now clean the friggin dirt off of it!!

1 pointHmm sorry you had to take the fall for some other "Cohort". I see you have broad shoulders. I know there's an instigator lurking

1 pointEven I have to cut the Big 10 some slack AJ. They did get 10 teams in bowl games. If nothing else, they learned how to count and the conference will be named properly for the rest of the year.

1 pointThank you Mate. I have had a lot of fun making those videos, and I am humbled at how many people have used them to fix their transmissions. It was a pleasure working with you. My favorite video is the one "Watching Paint Dry"...might even be my best effort.

1 pointThanks Ken and all. After being in this for 5 months I think that is what my mission has become. These tractors must be saved and the brand as it was should continue. I guess what I will become is not only a collector as over a dozen of them and many attachments are not for sale, but also an "old" Wheel Horse dealer complete with sales, service, and warranty. Thanks Ken for helping me see what my true mission is.

1 pointi'm not going to tell you not to use it but with only 15 hrs on it i would be using it very sparingly. you just don't find a C195 with 15 hrs on it anymore and it looks like those should be original hrs for the machine. if it was mine it would become a show tractor with an occasional work out instead of being my main tractor, even if i had to go buy another tractor to use as my main tractor eric j
