-
3 pointsHe can't do that! It would match all the tractors and then he would never find it when he needed it. Then he would sit on it one day and get one of them wires stuck up the ole kiester!

3 pointsground and unground bearings in your transmission ground bearings are precision ground to a mirror finish for very tight size tolerance and fit unground bearings have a larger size tolerance and fit they have a much wider range of misalignment they can handle over the ground bearings you can feel this in your hand by the movement between the inner and outer bearing races the wheel horse 3 piece trans cases are not pinned in alignment like the newer cast two piece trans cases when you look at a disassembled 3 piece trans you can see where the different bearing types are used. The ground bearing are where they can be kept in truer alignment like the input shaft and the unground style is used to take up any misalignment between the case pieces side to side you can buy both bearing types from mcmaster-carr in the correct sizes Brian

2 pointsYou can bypass everything by running a jumper from the battery pos directly to the + on the coil. If it starts you'll know it's before the coil, if not it's after. I like splitting the system in two to find out what direction to go with when I start testing. Most problems on those do end up at that white 9 pin connector though.

2 pointsI added permanent tie down points to my 854. When I tie her down in the pick up I no longer scratch the paint. who ever came up with this idea, thanks it was a good one.

2 pointsWhen I tear out a large electric motor they usually have lifting ears on them in various shapes. I save them and bolt them on at the same location. I paint them red and they almost look like they belong there.

2 pointsAll of the above! Thankful to have a roof over my head, food to eat, a loving wife, and last but not least, my tractors to keep my little bit of sanity somewhat intact! Lol. :-P

2 pointsStop fooling around with it and remove the head. Probably needs to have the carbon removed from the head and block. Then put a new head gasket on it and torque it to specifications. When you remove the head, take some photos of the top of the block. That will tell us a lot as to what is going on.
-
2 pointsUpdate: After 4 days and a 1/2 can of PB Blaster I was able to remove both bolts without breaking them off. Like Martin said take you time. Thanks to everyone for your help. Donnie

2 pointsThankful first for my family. Then to all our brave men and women serving in the armed forces. Who proudly stand a post at night somewhere around the world and say to us all, sleep well, nothing will happen to you on my watch. God bless you all and thank you for your service.

2 pointsWhat comes to mind for me is a Lawn tractor is made for nothing more than lawn type duties, a Garden tractor is made for more serious duty like pulling garden type equipment.

2 pointsgot the drive belt in the mail today, so went out and finished up everything on the blower. got the chain all set up, cut the length to 51 links like the original, lined up all the sprockets with shim washers and installed the chain. double checked all my bolts, installed cotter pins in all the areas i temporarily put hairpins and gave the whole blower a good spray down with quick wax. chain, idlers etc installed.... new belt fresh from ebay, this one was $20 in a sealed bag, not sure what they run at the dealer, probably more i would guess. chain guards on. all done.... came inside to get a bite to eat and after a while look out the back window to see Kent out on the back driveway with a shovel messing up all my test snow........ so i finished up my lunch and went out there, but not before putting my coat and slippers on. i thought to myself how dare he exert energy! i was wondering if he was feeling ok, working and all.......after all he is a teenager, what will he be up to next????? actually i already know the answer to that, having 4 others that have gone through those years already...... anyway, i said to him to stop that working thing immediately, he might break out in a sweat and I'm sure he didn't want that to happen. i did manage to get him to hold my phone for a few minutes while i tested out the blower on what was left on the driveway (which wasn't very much-darn kids......)

1 pointHere we are at the last week of regular season for the Big Ten. What a season it has been. It doesn't look like Im going to end the season with a very good standing in the 2014 Red Square Big Ten football picks, but I had a great time doing it. Thanks Steve for the job well done. You did such a good job I nominate you to do it again next year. On to this weeks picks. Iowa Indiana Northwestern THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES Maryland Wisconsin Michigan State

1 pointI have used three TinyTachs to date and I am disappointed with most of them. First they use a battery which is not replaceable. Depending on how long it has been sitting unsold, once you get it it's life may be very short. If it's main function was to keep track of an engine hours such as in one of my cases then it's useles because eventually it will die. Second, for a Kohler k series engine you need to buy a special one since the Kohler only fires on every other revolution so that one needs to be dedicated to such an engine. Eventually it will perish. Third, the newer ones now are adjustable or programmable to the engine such as the Kohler K series. I am not a total idiot with these things and I have never been able to get it to read correct on any engine. Either always too low or too high which seems to be your case. For a product which is relatively expensive they just have too many shortcomings. I believe that I recently saw knockoffs of it on eBay which were rather cheap and the battery was replaceable. Personally I will not buy any again.

1 pointi hear you on the finances. they claim the economy is getting better but it's not in my house lol eric j

1 pointSince this is an older snowthrower the bolt that you have in the quick hitch should go through the tractor frame about 2" from the front of it. The round bar that goes into the quick hitch is welded to the snowthrower frames on the models that use the quick hitch and I think it is 5/8" in diameter. The old style bolt used a bushing on each end because the frame holes are larger than the bolt. I don't know if your tractor can use this setup but try it. It may work. The normal belt is 5/8" x 69" but again that might not apply in this application. If that does not work for you someone can get you the measurements and drill the frames at the correct length so you can use a 5/8" round bar in the quick hitch. Garry

1 pointI have suffered the affliction for decades. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING works but the arrival of Spring. In the meantime, I coat the ends of my fingers with pain relieving bacitracin ointment, then apply several layers of bandaids. 3M Nexcare Comfort Strips work the best. I'm not kidding when I say that I have tried every so-called remedy advertised on TV, in magazine, and the Farmers Almanac. Last year this same subject was discussed in a thread that I started:

1 pointMy vote is for the 1976/1977 B/C Series (B-80, B-100, C-120, C-160), 8-Speeds. I think they were the best looking, and overall toughest machines made.

1 pointThe garage is just to dern cold. We have had 3 nights below 15 here this week. Anyway, I been getting some small parts off and redoing them at work. moving forward anyway.

1 pointSo I'm using some Rustoleum paint on my beast, and the can reads that "for glossier finish, recoat with Rustoleum Clear after 10 minutes." Ok, so I did. It checked up like I was spraying paint remover on it!! So I called the product support number on their website. After sleeping thru 20+ minutes of music, "Todd" tells me that the recoat time for my paint is a minimum of 72 hours. I said HMMM, and read him the can. Silence!! Then he asked me for the product number again. Seems Rustoleum made a booboo!!! He said that he is going to have the support team get the cans re-worded, and the website updated with the correct info. AND ...(will let you know) he is refunding my money for 4 cans of product. SO .... before you spray clear on Rustoleum paint .... wait 3 days+ !!!!! NOT 10 minutes!!

1 pointhi, it been a while since i posted. i got to looking around the last 6-8 months, got an idea, and started laying pieces in a pile for a project. here it is. i guess, you could call it a c-81. it has a c-81 hood and frame. a c-165 8 speed rear axle. a 701 flipped front axle and rear fenders from 1963 short frame. sawmill 8 inch fronts. 25 x 12 atv rears. dropped 6 inches in the front and 4 1/2 in the rear. engine is 18 vanguard. no pre 65 stuff will be modified or cut for this project. this project has a very limited budget. had to buy tubes for rears, and that was tough for me. i dont have money. i do have a welder, a cutting torch, a bunch of junk tractors, and alot of ambition. going to use what i got, and build me a hot rod. jimmy
