Ok guys took me 4 hours to dig out I have 45 inches of snow and more to come. The machines worked very hard. Some of the bottom snow was heavy I had to take the loader out of storage...Lake Effect Storm hit us hard South of Buffalo,ny

Too bad a lot of us aren't closer. I would be there with a lot of tractors and blowers, we would cover your area in red.

Yes you should! I can't wait for enough snow to get mine out!

Guys I live near Shawn and actually used a blower attachment I just got from him!! This storm was so crazy no matter what you have you worked it hard. I have that single stage mounted to a 312 and I had to take a cut with it all the way up until the tractor stopped backed up and dropped it and then move forward again. Did this over and over 1-2 feet at a time. I worked it hard but it did good. Even with a two stage not sure it would have been a ton better the snow was hard packed and frozen together before I even got to it. The snow was easily 6 to 8 inches over the top of the blower. There were times I was taking a 6inch cut with the side wing and carving out the underneath and leaving a 6-8 inch overhang of snow!!! Like Shawn said us Buffalo folk are used to and prepared for this. Just another day all be it a crazy a$$ one Im supposed to be traveling out of town today but I doubt and hope that doesn't happen. If not maybe ill mount that crazy tall chute on and give it a whirl later. I wanted to yesterday but it was hectic and exhausting so I just focused on getting the job done. Craig commented on another thread how I need a snowcab too but I guess us Buffalo guys like to be out in the mix of things ha. I have the gear and as long as I blow it down wind its all good. Shawn will agree that even if we didn't sit down once on our tractors we still would have looked like that. Heres a few pics I have

just got back. i'm sure i broke no speed or mileage records (riding my 312) home. about 3 miles. i have no trailer of truck and don't like to ask favors if i can do it myself. old fool attitude. sold the property i bought it for and now it sits in my garage for the winter. i can mow my lawn now in 10 minutes, that includes checking it out and starting it up. fingers are frozen and the flask was empty way, way to early. pretended to blow leaves off the road all the way. police are tough here as i go by million $$ homes. didn't want to be the first to get a dwi on a wh. all went well as i told my wife nothing till i got home. by the way i'm not selling even if i just putt around. love it. tomorow the modle t comes home the same way if i can get it started. by the way i have a bunch of old car parts from the teens to the thirties, carbs, lamps, brake linings, magnetos, most not new or in great shape but a few are. i just want them all gone so, free if you are local. also have an engine with no markings that i can see, looks like a 30's-40's large briggs from online pictures, that is guiet heavy, turns freely is all i can tell you, looks fine. also free. have a great turkey day and be happy your not in buffalo.

I'm guessing your affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic should give you access to some of these new meds recently developed by the B1Gophobia Association.. Maybe a couple of these.. Or if those don't work, surely a few of these should do the trick..

Geno - that would be funny to see. A bunch of horses lined up, similar to combines in the wheat fields out west, only all the horses rigged with snowblowers! Rob

Yes Geno, one 18 watt flood. It's amazing what these LEDs will do. Here's the front two @ 24 watt each. The picture doesn't do them justice. It doesn't pickup for far they throw the light. Sent from my tractor seat.

Thought I'd post some 'before' and 'so far' pics of this British Mower here as well seeing this section is underutilised (main thread on MoM link), and on the basis that there may be some U.S. interest in this type of mower. I know there were several similar makes and designs in the U.S in the 50s like Toro and Jacobson. This one was so close to complete scrap, but I think I've got the better of it to date- As found- 24" cut for coarse grass like Paddock or Orchard (I thought it was for finer lawns originally ) Engine is pull start 2 cycle 98cc Villiers with Oil Bath Filter. Single Clutch Plate and power drive. Lot of work to date, but have reached this point of near completion. Was hoping to finish by winter, but have failed in that plan. If interested in the rebuild etc, here is a link - http://myoldmachine.com/topic/726-yellow-mower-challenge/ Regards.

Sorry guys for a newbie comin in to the presence of such knowledgable people. But I have a story u guys might seem to really appreciate. From the beginning ...u might have noticed by my name I'm a little religious. A couple weeks ago I was praying for some form of four wheeler, tractor or anything that could move some serious snow. Cause I live in central'ish nh. On the way to work at bass pro shops 15 min away...I kept passing some run down mower...and I was thinking I could possibly metal salvage it. After passing it for a week I realized it didn't have any sign on it...so I left a note at the vacant house and said" if that thing"" on the side of the road was for free, call me". She called me that night and my dad went with me to help me load it up. He said he really didn't want to go but he put down his dinner and came with. When we got there the lady said "I got this piece of metal that goes on the front, it's in the side of the hill out back"!! So I walk out back while my dad preps the mower...to my surprise i brush off a couple leaves and it's a great condition snowblower!! And when I get back to the car my dad sais to me with some youthful enthusiasm " you know this is a wheel horse!!!" I said a what??? Ok I didn't know or really care in the dark what it was. I found out it was a c-175 and in the light of day I see a twin cylinder little rust flat tires and a "thick" rear end!! I said hmmmm a wheel horse!! And a snowblower in good condition!! Thank you jah!!! I should of taken pics before I started working on it.... But I will put up some pics soon of where it's at. And after a new battery some tire goo and fix a float valve in the carb she is purrrring again!!!

Less than 10 miles from home and I couldn't resist, been wanting one of these with the 16hp Kohler for some time. A little rough around the edges but with a little work everything will clean up just fine. Probably next winter's project.

Hi all, I have been waiting about two weeks for this package to arrive and today it finally arrived and I was so pleased! The package: What could it be?! Da daa! A nice little deck for my suburban, I realise it's actually an RJ deck but it came up at a good price and I couldn't turn it down so I bit the bullet. It will fit my suburban so at least I can use it, maybe I'll come across an RJ to put it on! I plan to fabricate a new shell for it, well I can try at least. Thanks for looking, Tom

As you have probably saw on the news we have plenty of snow here in buffalo so I had an opportunity to try out a really tall chute I made. Pretty happy with the way it performed. Here is the video proof enjoy!! https://vimeo.com/112324227 https://vimeo.com/112324336 Here is a quick one that shows how I tackled this really deep snow. I did the whole driveway that way yesterday. Took a while but sure beats shoveling!! https://vimeo.com/112324600

got some more done, hard to get anytime to finish it as I'm juggling work, the calendar and this one as well...... just as well the snows not coming down yet...... worked on the drive and insert bearings, used the 7/8 bearings and bushings the same as Bob Maynard did in his thread. i drilled the clearance holes for the set screws before pressing the bushing all the way home. these were really tight going in and the set screws were 1/4-28, didn't have a 1/4-28 tap so i had to drill the holes before pushing the bushing home. got the auger bearings in and auger installed. everything spins nice. painted the chute at work early this morning, 3.30 am to be exact! had to put that on and see how it all looked together. its getting there, but still got the chain and chute adjuster and other stuff to finish first before the fun can begin....

Thank God that's not here! That would be tough even for my snow machine. You know I traded for a Case skid steer a couple years ago. I had wanted one for a while because I had a Ford 4000 with a loader that must have been over 10' long and got stuck a lot in the snow. It was easy to get out though with the bucket. Since I got rid of all my Horses, the Case is the snow removal machine now, especially since now it has a Kubota diesel in it. Yea 51hp. and 4-wheel drive and a 5' bucket will flat move some snow but 6 or 7 feet at a time is still tough. I would need to build me a cab for that much snow too!

Guys this how weird and cool lake effect snow is. I live about 50 minutes north of Shawn and this is how it looks outside of my house right now. Maybe 1 inch of snow. We moved up here about 10 yrs ago from Lackawanna which is about 15 minutes from Shawn. Sometimes I miss that snow and other times I don't.

Well, I got the oil issue sorted out. Turns out the breather place was on upside down, not entire sure how it worked so well for so long but that's fixed. Pushed snow with it this morning. Much easier and better then using a shovel.

You are going to give other 'tall chute' blowers a chute complex... not to mention the short chute!

I have my SK-486 ready to go and used it this morning. The blower is an earlier 32" inch model (36" at the widest point) that has been cobbled up and converted over to a tach-a-matic setup. This setup actually works really good and has no issues other than being a little ugly. I used the blower all last winter on my C-81 with no troubles other than having to spend most of the time in low range for the 8 horse. The 16 horse is going to handle the task a lot better this year.

**UPDATE** It's 730am and another 12 inches on the ground. Seems like the snow stop for now. I'm pretty beat after 5 hours outside. Also shoveling 4 feet off snow off my back deck. Round 2 today. Also I have to help my neighbor across the street dig out. I'm just worry about running out off gas. I'll post more pictures later. Also they will be on wheel horse junkies. Check out second photo that's the buffalo bills stadium photo shoot from my window. Also another round of lake effect snow coming tonight into Saturday could lead up to 6 feet of snow.

Anything will break if you push it hard enough ... You need to get over this looking for weak point trip you're on ... It'll never EVER EVER EVER be bulletproof ... Use the Dang thing, and you will see what needs improvement for your use and your abuse and your habits (i.e. How much you try to push, how hard you ram into piles, etc) Just because I have zero issues pushing snow, dirt, gravel and large neighbors with my blade angled ... doesn't mean that you won't... maybe your neighbors are bigger...

With the lack of Plum Juice and you guys bruised feelings...I just feel that I have to tell you guys that I have become a huge Notre Dame fan this year. Why you ask?? Well, they shut out the one team in the Big Ten that I just love to see lose... that tickles me to death. They played a great game with Purdue, and made them look good...and they made Northwestern's year...who could ask for more. I feel like doing a jig, looking for the end of the rainbow and that pot of gold...Notre Dame...I love you guys...thanks for the great year and what you did in the Big Ten.

Geno that would be neat to see a convoy of truck and trailers all headed north with wheel horses set for moving snow. instead of plow day we could have a snow day lol hope you guys get enough of a break to catch up before getting nailed again eric j

looks like you did ok with the tall chute fabrication, Paul....... mines getting closer...... I'm back and forth on whether its going to be too high to be effective, seeing yours i can't wait to try mine out......

A little late but BACKUP IS HERE!! Sorry Bob. I just got done mopping up my tears that turned to ice because of all the beautiful weather we have had. See that chair up there? I just crawled out from underneath of it because of that game. I'm a little upset with Steve as well because he knew I needed about 5 gallons of really really really old plum juice and he didn't come through. Anyway lets change the subject.. What shall we talk about??

That much heavy wet snow falling, in that short of time, you have to have down evergreen treen limbs everywhere. Not to mention power outages. Stay warm! Rob

Well, I'm no experet when it comes to which model one should have or needs the most when it comes to chores..... What I can say is this..... My 518xi managed to chew through some serious snow last year. Heavy wet, dry fluffy, it did not matter. That was just the single stage snowblower. I would have the 2 stage blower if I were in Shaun's shoes. Can't speak enough on how easy it is to get on and off, or as my video shows, in and out of a cab, when a cab is on one of the "XI's". As for weight.... The only thing heavier than any of the "XI" tractors is the D250. Without any attachments it weighs 1,013lbs. The lightest of the fleet. Fully rigged, the way it is setting now, without me in the seat it weighs roughly 1,490. Add my 225lbs, 1715lbs.... With the 2 links chains in the rear, I was going through snow that was well over 24" deep last year with the snowblower raised. Plow trucks had not been out yet and I had to get my custoers drives cleared, and I was not going to snow blow the city roads for them. I'm not sure what one could or would do with that type of snow and amount in that short of time. I would guess that even the 2 stage may struggle a little bit, but knowing what the single stage moved last year, I would have no doubt you would have been able to leave the loader in the heated garage! Rob

Im with KyBlue: The only projects that truly fail are the ones stuck on the drawing board from over engineering. The lateral movement of the blade is not an issue in most cases. It IS an issue if the rear mounting bracket is not centered or is tightened unevenly. I have done 15 years of damage to a blade on a C-105 (ramming huge piles of frozen snow, spreading/leveling dirt, moving 5 tons of gravel, etc) and the bracket and blade have held up fine. I think you will only get into strength issues if you are making a blade significantly larger than stock (like 56+"). The stabilizer the guy made above was for a 60 or 64" blade. Worth Noting: I am working on a design for a stabilizer for the front attachmatic. However, it is NOT for the strength of the set-up, it is for control. I dance right on the edge of driveways at a decent clip when plowing snow and the dozer frame can flex a little when it loads up. Not a problem unless you are just a few inches away from tearing out a nice swath of a neighbors front yard. I just want to tighten that up to have a little more control.

So... good day !! Past the electrical and framing inspections this morning. Just a few small items to take care of with hand rail and covering the windows near the stairs with plexi for the final inspection. The stone wall guys came today and started on them. It started with the owner of the company and then he left one of his guys to work. Havfe to say this guy worked his tail off with no complaints. They will be back to tomorrow with a few guys. I would imagine they make a nice dent in the project. Below are some pics of the progress.
