A month or so back I came across a nice C195 that I guess I couldn't live without. So after saving a few pennies here and there I said yes. I seen the tractor at Mentone and told the owner I was interested. After seeing all the interest the tractor had at the show it didn't take long. I took the back blade off of the GT16 loader to play a little bit, grading the alley.

Sorry guys for a newbie comin in to the presence of such knowledgable people. But I have a story u guys might seem to really appreciate. From the beginning ...u might have noticed by my name I'm a little religious. A couple weeks ago I was praying for some form of four wheeler, tractor or anything that could move some serious snow. Cause I live in central'ish nh. On the way to work at bass pro shops 15 min away...I kept passing some run down mower...and I was thinking I could possibly metal salvage it. After passing it for a week I realized it didn't have any sign on it...so I left a note at the vacant house and said" if that thing"" on the side of the road was for free, call me". She called me that night and my dad went with me to help me load it up. He said he really didn't want to go but he put down his dinner and came with. When we got there the lady said "I got this piece of metal that goes on the front, it's in the side of the hill out back"!! So I walk out back while my dad preps the mower...to my surprise i brush off a couple leaves and it's a great condition snowblower!! And when I get back to the car my dad sais to me with some youthful enthusiasm " you know this is a wheel horse!!!" I said a what??? Ok I didn't know or really care in the dark what it was. I found out it was a c-175 and in the light of day I see a twin cylinder little rust flat tires and a "thick" rear end!! I said hmmmm a wheel horse!! And a snowblower in good condition!! Thank you jah!!! I should of taken pics before I started working on it.... But I will put up some pics soon of where it's at. And after a new battery some tire goo and fix a float valve in the carb she is purrrring again!!!

Thanks for taking over this large undertaking guys. I know it must be a bunch of work, but one item that many of us look very forward to. Good luck on choosing as there are so many great photos to choose from. Whatever you choose, I don't think you can go wrong.

alright folks, the 17th has been and gone, no more pics will be considered..... now comes the fun part, trying to keep everyone happy..... I'm planning 2 calendars, one for the restored and very shiny ones and one for the not so shiny and worker tractors. (they might merge a little here and there, so don't get upset if you think you have a shiny one and it ends up in the not so shiny calendar, and vice versa------maybe to be safe i will just call them calendar #1 and #2) right now i have 23 on the short list for #1 and 20 on the short list for #2. to break them down to 14 each, (front and rear cover included) is going to be hard. this is where creativity, background and placement of the tractor in the shot is going to win out in the end.......

Here's a little update on the 59...Go the engine apart and it isn't as good as I hoped, in different spots of the bore I have ring gap ranging from .016 to .022. I think I am going to have it bored .010 over. I have the k91 all apart and beadblasted, and already had on hand a gasket set, NOS .010 piston, NOS stator, and a new aftermarket carburetor for it. I bought the carburetor for my 57, but ended up finding a NOS carb I will put on my 57. If anyone has a .010 over ring set I'm looking to buy one, I can get them new from kohler, but $60 seems a little steep. Also got some parts beadblasted and ready for primer, hope to get them done sometime this week. then I can sand them and get the trans back together. Depending on if I have time, and the weather isn't too bad this weekend I may get the frame blasted as well. Here's a few pictures. Thanks, Jake Also ended up blasting this, and must say I regret it. Anybody have any ideas on possible ways to save it?

chute fabrication was on the agenda today. i used a 20 x 16 piece of mild steel sheet roughly the same thickness as the Ariens pieces and formed a bottom section out of it. one end needed to be 8 inches diameter to fit the rotating collar that sits on the blower shell. the upper pieces are 6-7 inch diameter so i had to reduce the size on the other end of the fabricated section to that so it would fit them properly. the chute stands 30" high, i have no idea what the height of a wheel horse tall chute measures, but this one is about where i thought it should be. its a little higher than the 1057 hood sitting next to it (covered up), but as yet not sure how it will look on the 416 that its probably going to be attached to.... the pieces are just bolted together right now, the bottom section where it attaches to the collar will get welded before painting so the bolt heads don't interfere with rotation.... so those of you that have tall chutes, could somebody measure the length of the chute from the rotating collar to the top of it. id be interested to see what a oem one measures.....

So... I was able to actually try out the lift today to make sure that it works well. I had to extend the length as the front tires were hitting on the lift at half way up. It works really nice and I was able to get the 59 in it's correct place on the shelf. They are now lined up by "age" .... (top shelf only) lol

A couple of years ago I picked up a 1947 John Deere G project tractor for a great deal. I have been slowly tinkering with it, fixing it up, and using it ever since. I realize its the wrong make and color for a lot of you guys here, but I like all kinds of old tractors and machines, so don't hate me too much for that. My dad and I still farm with a lot of old equipment from the 50's and 60's. Here is a picture of the state the tractor was in when I bought it, it had been sitting for 15+ years, and here is picture of what it looks like now for the most part. It's a slow project, but it runs great now and its been a lot of fun slowly bringing it back, straightening sheet metal and wrenching on it. I plan on eventually going through the engine and building it up for higher compression and cleaning everything up and painting it.

You know, I had people buy me magnetic parts trays to put that stuff in. You would think one would use them.... That would involve one to find them first....

Hi all, a few days ago i posted a topic on the 'electronics' board asking about headlights on an A-800, after being assured it will be fine i stumbled across a pair of old style lamps. they came with 55W H3 bulbs but i'm not sure if they will be too much for the charging system?? either way i'll be getting some CREE LED replacement bulbs each being 7.5W and have their own lenses to focus the light. so, here's the pictures: thanks for looking, Callum

I've been watching this on the Weather Channel. I know what I would do if I was up there. The Weather Channel people are on the other side of the wall, I would find out exactly where and I would be on the TV with a Horse and snow blower! I might even get interviewed! I'll be sure to tell them about you guys here!

I thought I would share another reason why I love having a wheel horse around. I had to get the kids to the baby sitters and then go to work everyone had left the house already its about 25° outside and my truck wouldn't start the old commando 8 started right up and was able to jump start my truck I would of been screwed

It did well Craig, when it warms back up this weekend I'm going to take the back blade off and add a snow plow. I am curious if a standard C blade will work with the 520 extension on it??? I also have an D series grader blade that will fit right underneath the belly of this Bad boy. Tractor purrs like a kitten. Starts and runs excellent. Beings I'm not a small guy, I love these big tractors like the C195's, 520xi's they have kind of more less spoiled me. Makes pushing snow or just about anything you do with these tractors Enjoyable!!!

47JDG, paint it red and no one here would notice. Seriously, that is a cool tractor. I grew up on a farm in the '60s and '70s. My dad had a couple of those old John Deere tractors. So, I got to drive them on the farm long before I ever got a driver's license to drive a car. I still love to hear the sound of those JD's putt around at the local tractor shows. Thanks for sharing.

Bringing this back up for quick question. Here's the deal, Im at work and the guys in the shop have the time today to make a new edge for me. But I need to know the actual dimensions of the holes for a 42" plow. Does anyone have these handy so these guys can make one for me today? Center to Center would be great. Geno you must have one sitting right next to you you can measure real quick, you only have 78 of them laying around. Thanks in advanced.

Finally had a chance to use mine this morning. After a quick jump it fired right up and pushed like no other. Not bad for a 48 yr old tractor that spent the last 8 yrs parked outside.

Well here's the cab I just finished up. Can't wait to use it. Just need to attach the blade the rear chains and she's ready to go! Used 16 gage clear, marine grade plastic. Very happy with how it came out, and for a grand total of under 100 bucks, ya can't beat it!

I was able to find parts for a H60 at Certified Parts Corp. As I under stand it, they bought the Tecsumeh label, dies and remaining parts. They are located in southern Indiana. You might try them for your needed parts.

Well not sure how yours got in there. But when I was fooling with my 416 onan to figure out the smoke issue, I took the air cleaner screws that hold it to the carb off and laid them in the air cleaner. While pulling the air box off the breather hose, I was pulling and pulling and bam! It popped off and one of the screws rolled right to the carb hole cut out and disappeared with the sound almost like throwing a penny down a well. I looked everywhere that day for that screw hoping that little bugger didn't go down the throat of the beast. I had to change the ignition module so I figured it was my last chance to find it before pulling the intake. Mind you, I already went down the carb with a magnet coming up empty handed. So a month or so later, I changed the ignition module and found out the smoke was from the wrong fuel the PO had dumped in.... Still lingering in the back of my mind was that darn screw that I never did find under the tins. So in I went. I pulled everything off the top of the motor. Last thing to take off was the intake. As I pulled the intake off, there sat the bolt in the Number 2 cylinder intake valve chamber laughing at me. I had only ran the motor for a total of 15 minutes maybe and the screw threads towards the end had already been polished off. I spent the time, cost of gaskets and breaking an exhaust shield bolt off in the head. Which involved drilling , carefully tapping into the aluminum head to get that fixed. :*****: ALL FOR AN AIR CLEANER BOLT!!! :*****: . Learned a good lesson that day.... Always close the choke when working on Onan or stuff a paper towel of sorts in the hole. And put things where they belong. Don't use the air cleaner as a tray for parts! Things I already know but you get in a hurry and the mistakes surface there ugly little faces. OH WELL! Ranting over lol Kyle

Posted 03 August 2012 - 08:46 PM Been working on a "new" plow for my GT-14. Information says it will handle a 54" front plow. I had a couple of fair looking 42" plows, so I took the best parts from both plows and made a nice 54" plow by adding 6" of plow to each side of the best 42". Now I am working on the plow cutting/wear edge. I wanted the 3/8" square holes for the 3/8" carrage bolts, but wasn't sure where I could get this done. At my work place they have a "mega-buck" iron worker that will do all kinds of stuff, but they don't have a 3/8" square die...Next best thing is a square broach. I have attached some pictures of the broach, plow wear edge, and the press I used to cut the 3/8" round hles to 3/8" square holes! This broach is round on the starting end, and is tapered to the opposite end, and is square. I used a press to "push" it through the steel.
