I thought I would share another reason why I love having a wheel horse around. I had to get the kids to the baby sitters and then go to work everyone had left the house already its about 25° outside and my truck wouldn't start the old commando 8 started right up and was able to jump start my truck I would of been screwed

Well I was digging through my camera and found this photo. It was about 3 weeks ago, we went to a friends field and just had fun with single bottom plows. 5 hours later about 30ft wide and the run was about 1/4 mile, the plow goes from the tree line to a little past where I took the pic. Here is my dad (SHYNON) on his 1045 clone finishing up the day here is a closer pic, quality no so good just thought id share now that there is about 2 in of white on the ground

Well, I finally got started on my project tractor (I have a name picked out but for now we'll just call it CLASSIFIED). I started with a L-155 lawn ranger frame and an 8 speed rear end. The transaxle was split, cleaned, I replaced one outer axle bearing and have new seals that will get installed before final assembly. Because this tractor is being fabricated with parts I had laying around, I thought It best to blast and prime parts before assembly, to keep things clean, then I will tear down, paint and reassemble. So here it is the start: I then took a hood stand/tunnel from a 1257 and decided to modify it so I can install a toolbox , Here is where the cutting begins of course I needed to shorten it Then to make the profile meet the toolbox Then I took the triangle pieces I cut off of the tunnel and welded them into the inside so I can achieve a factory look. and added the tab across the back of the tower so I can tie the tool box to the tower . of course I modified a stock gas tank dash to mount on top of the tower but I forgot to take pictures of that process so I will just take pics of It mounted when I am update my post. I have done some blasting of other parts to get things ready for the next stage, I will be working on the steering setup, I need to shorten a long frame fan gear to fit this short frame. along with moving the steering block back a couple inches. as you can see in the pictures I have moved the tower back further than the stock location, this of course will be to shoe-horn in a 14hp kohler that I will rebuild. I will be using a c- series axle, but I am on the hunt for a swept axle, unfortunately all are expensive, and I am wanting one cheap.

Well I seen this wheel horse from the road way back up by this guy's house. I tried the old envelope trick in the mailbox Friday I got surprise call from the guy who own it. He didn't know what model it was neither did I thought it was a classic 310 from a distance. It ended up being a 1989 wheel horse HC with a 60inch deck. Under 300 hours if the odometer if is working right. I had the poker face on a got a great deal on it! Stole it for the price I got it for!! I try to deal with him more on the John Deere 410 trying to show him more interest in that tractor lol. But at the end I wanted the 520HC. The tractor would stay out all winter but now it has a barn...520hc are rare around here....

Maryland, Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue OK, since I fired my analysts I was pretty much on my own this week so here’s my reasoning for my picks. Quite simply, Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Nebraska should win their games this week. That’s not logical this year but what is this year? Penn State is about a touchdown favorite. Purdue because it’s a home game and the Wildcats probably won’t be sobered up yet after their celebration. Michigan and Maryland was a tough one so I consulted Jeff Jeffers. He said Maryland all the way. During our conversation he also mentioned (with a shaky voice) some lunatic in a Michigan t-shirt is standing in the middle of US 31 at the state line screaming “A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do†at any vehicle that didn’t have a Wolverine decal. Ready for some company Jim?

It's sitting at Danbury Spring now. Their estimate to fix it made me drop it off right then, should be fixed by 2:30 today, no way could I have do it this quickly so it's better off I did this. 4" of snow this morning and it was time to clear the driveway. 2 passes and then POW! Dead as a door nail right in the middle of the road at 6:00! Got the wife up and she steered while I drove the C-101 pulling the C-161 Auto to the garage. Pulled the spark plug and no compression, at this point I thought it had a broken rod. Pulled the head and here is what I found! I bought the tractor last year and have had no problems with it what so ever and where that nut came from I have no idea but it's been in there for a long time as you can see from the next pic. No dings or dents in the piston tells me it's been rattling around under the intake valve for a very long time. Cleaned the carbon, new head gasket and back to plowing snow by 9AM.

So... I was able to actually try out the lift today to make sure that it works well. I had to extend the length as the front tires were hitting on the lift at half way up. It works really nice and I was able to get the 59 in it's correct place on the shelf. They are now lined up by "age" .... (top shelf only) lol

A couple of years ago I picked up a 1947 John Deere G project tractor for a great deal. I have been slowly tinkering with it, fixing it up, and using it ever since. I realize its the wrong make and color for a lot of you guys here, but I like all kinds of old tractors and machines, so don't hate me too much for that. My dad and I still farm with a lot of old equipment from the 50's and 60's. Here is a picture of the state the tractor was in when I bought it, it had been sitting for 15+ years, and here is picture of what it looks like now for the most part. It's a slow project, but it runs great now and its been a lot of fun slowly bringing it back, straightening sheet metal and wrenching on it. I plan on eventually going through the engine and building it up for higher compression and cleaning everything up and painting it.

Well not sure how yours got in there. But when I was fooling with my 416 onan to figure out the smoke issue, I took the air cleaner screws that hold it to the carb off and laid them in the air cleaner. While pulling the air box off the breather hose, I was pulling and pulling and bam! It popped off and one of the screws rolled right to the carb hole cut out and disappeared with the sound almost like throwing a penny down a well. I looked everywhere that day for that screw hoping that little bugger didn't go down the throat of the beast. I had to change the ignition module so I figured it was my last chance to find it before pulling the intake. Mind you, I already went down the carb with a magnet coming up empty handed. So a month or so later, I changed the ignition module and found out the smoke was from the wrong fuel the PO had dumped in.... Still lingering in the back of my mind was that darn screw that I never did find under the tins. So in I went. I pulled everything off the top of the motor. Last thing to take off was the intake. As I pulled the intake off, there sat the bolt in the Number 2 cylinder intake valve chamber laughing at me. I had only ran the motor for a total of 15 minutes maybe and the screw threads towards the end had already been polished off. I spent the time, cost of gaskets and breaking an exhaust shield bolt off in the head. Which involved drilling , carefully tapping into the aluminum head to get that fixed. :*****: ALL FOR AN AIR CLEANER BOLT!!! :*****: . Learned a good lesson that day.... Always close the choke when working on Onan or stuff a paper towel of sorts in the hole. And put things where they belong. Don't use the air cleaner as a tray for parts! Things I already know but you get in a hurry and the mistakes surface there ugly little faces. OH WELL! Ranting over lol Kyle

I was part of the New England Caravan on its way to the BIG SHOW this past June. I did comment on how effortlessly Karl's Ford pulled his 13,000 pound fifth wheel camper up the big hills once you hit PA. on I-84. My custom van has a pretty strong 350 in it and all I was towing was a few thousand pounds, Karl could walk by me anytime he wanted to with 13,000 in tow. I had always thought the 6.0 Ford diesel's were dog's but I had never seen one in action. Pretty impressive.. Brrly, that is one hell of a Pimpin Cowboy Cadillac you got there! I saw it in person and it is sweet.

RMCIII I have picked the team that I thought was going to loose in a Northwestern game this year and that didnt work. I have done all I know to do to get one of there games right. Finally got the snow crew ready, and even got to try it out a little.

I bet that was real hard to find. I'm sure I can posts all kinds of gmc,chevies, or dodges and tow trucks. Or even better I can post all kinds of pictures of Fords pulling chevies apart or vice a versa. Doesn't matter you like gmc's, Geno a chevy nut and I'm sure there's a dozen dodge owners that'll say my truck better than yours each has there own preference. Mike's is toyota. If anybody remembers someone (Ken B I believe) said something about Karl's truck pulling back thru the hills of New York or somewhere like that and said that they watched Karl work the hills and it was like No tomorrow as he pulled that truck and trailer thru the hills without very little effort. To me that's all Ford power. Personally myself I'm excited to see the New aluminum body when the New F-150 hit the street. In 2016 they are supposedly suppose to tranform the Super duty into aluminum and I'm most definitely interested in that!!! Sorry Pro Ford here guys, always have been, always will be. Those were them. I did find an awesome pizza place down there though. Mashed potato, gravy, and turkey pizza sounds weird but tastes oh so good on a cold day. The seller was a cool guy too, with a collection of old outboards and motorcycles.

one good thing about hf they give those metal magnetic pan holder away for free. i didn't think i would like or use them years ago till i drop a bolt down the carb of an onan and got tired of looking for all of the bolts that fall off the tractor when you start it up lol eric j

Got it all figured out and everything mounted! I had to make replacement rear canvas and front but I think it came out pretty well. Windshield wiper- yes or not? I have a motor mounted, but no wiper or arm?

I've had a couple blowers with Tecumseh's and they were finicky. It was time for a "new" blower when I stumbled across a 1978 Gilson about 4 years ago that came from the factory with an 8hp Briggs. Its got plenty of power and has run good for 4 years. I always fully drain it of all gas every spring. I'm happy with it! Mike.........

Kind of even confused myself. Come on, ND losing to Northwestern.. Yes, I know they were picked by 2 individuals, but come on! Change channel I do believe Nebraska and Wisconsin may very well be in for a fight they may not be ready for..... Minnesota sure gave OSU a run for their money....... Archie was my best buddy for 17 yrs. He went everywhere with me and was super well behaved, most of the time. He never bit my kids no matter how hard they tugged on his big floppy ears. He never barked, once in a while he would give out the funniest sounding howl while chasing a squirrel up a tree but that was it.. One of his favorite pass times was eating things that he shouldn't such as dirty socks, pens, the kids rubber erasers... One day for whatever reason I left a hundred dollar bill on the end table next to the couch. When I came back fifteen minutes later half of it was eaten. Archie was sittin on the end of the couch with that I didn't do it look on his face. I figured no biggie I'll just bring the half eaten bill to the bank and tell them what happened and get a replacement. Well, since he ate EXACTLY half I wasn't gettin a replacement because how would they know that the other half still remains and that someone wouldn't be back with the other half later! I couldn't help but laugh, Archie ALWAYS made me laugh even if it cost me 100 bucks! Woody couldn't have done it, he was outside.. Archie was the Cocker..

I went out to the garage tonight and looked at it and started laughing myself! Oh well. It works! Doc.....to answer your question, the Kohlers don't have this issue. I don't think they pull half the air that the Onans require for cooling and thus, they don't clog their flywheel screen like the Onans. I have both a rear and side discharge 42" deck and both have been hooked up to my Onans. There is no difference. Grass and especially leafs do blow out from the bottom of the mower deck and the front left wheel kicks up debris as well and it gets sucked against the screen. I quite literally need to brush leafs off the screen of my 520 and my 416-8 every two to three minutes when I am mulching my leaf debris. Big pain as you steer and lean forward to push the clumps off the screen and it does choke off the cooling for the engine. This is for leaf duty only! For grass cutting, I just wait for it to cool down then hit it with compressed air through the tins.
