8 pointsIt's not doing any good to try to stop so what the @$!#. Got a call from Todd Pitts the other day and we had been talking about a bunch of stuff so he brought it up last night. The condition of this stuff is unreal. I cleaned a spot on the tiller with Windex and it looks almost new, there is still paint on the tines. I didn't think stuff was out there in this condition. Sandra says pressure washing is out of the question unless it gets warm so no pics of the cleaned up version. We got a 72 Bronco 14 auto with hydro lift + electric clutch, tiller, aerator, 11 more decks that are stacked up outside, the WHEZ Vac setup, and 2 more plows. I have 38 decks and 21 plows now, that should be some sort of record...

4 pointsWell I seen this wheel horse from the road way back up by this guy's house. I tried the old envelope trick in the mailbox Friday I got surprise call from the guy who own it. He didn't know what model it was neither did I thought it was a classic 310 from a distance. It ended up being a 1989 wheel horse HC with a 60inch deck. Under 300 hours if the odometer if is working right. I had the poker face on a got a great deal on it! Stole it for the price I got it for!! I try to deal with him more on the John Deere 410 trying to show him more interest in that tractor lol. But at the end I wanted the 520HC. The tractor would stay out all winter but now it has a barn...520hc are rare around here....

4 pointsThe day started out early ... just as the sun rose I was out working on my eh trailer.... have to be prepared when you venture into the territory of the he who dominates the WH market in this area ... a while back after talking with Geno about some other parts - he got to talking with me about a 520h he had .. it wasn't in the best shape but is mechanically sound - however he wanted to pull the motor for another tractor he had. A deal was struck ... I had a new project tractor - what that project is, I'm not saying yet So i've ventured to the dragons lair with my B80 & Plow (needed to try a NOS part to see if it would work before duplication) AND a 520H for a upcoming project... I know how ya'll want picture(s) .... (no comments about my 25.00 trailer please ... it'll get some TLC over the next few months Thanks Geno!! Appreciate the tractor and the time relaxing in your shop ... looking forward to the 6th!

3 pointsThat is a job for those who have the right set up. In the end the extra money spent will be well worth having someone else do it.
-
3 pointsI'll tell ya, I had NO idea I had a broken spring, and if it weren't for the inspection I wouldn't have known either (until I took off the wheel). I routinely hookup 13,000 lbs to the back of this and what a disaster that would have been huh? The price of a new spring is in the $150 ball park (USA made via internet). The biggest issue with the install will be getting the shackle bolts out since I don't think that the impact wrench will fit in there with the bed on. I'm sure a little heat will help matters, but it looks like a several hour job per side. I'd have to imagine that a spring shop can do this in about an hour or so. If one side broke, I think that I'll replace both just because I really don't want to screw around with a truck that pulls heavy.

2 pointsWell this topic hits the nail right on the head. I just got my daugters jeep going again after finding the broken wire under the coil pack harness. JUST told my co worker that it so far has been good for two weeks and if it will just last till after Christmas I would be happy. Not 10 minutes after that she texts me a picture and asks what the green stuff is running out of her dash on the floorboard.I texted her back a you tube video of two guys tearing the dash out of a cherokee. Again, NOT HAPPY. I cant get a break. Karl, I feel your pain.

2 pointsI worked on cars for 20 years for a living and I don't even change my own oil anymore. That shows you how much I enjoyed my old profession!👎
-
2 pointsDino, I'm thinking anywhere from $450 to $600 for both springs. If you talk wiith the guys at the shop Karl they might even be able to beef those springs up for you. If I remember correctly you pull a fifth wheel trailer and a lil extra beef never hurt No bobody as long as it works for you. It should be right about that amount even for the Big truck like Karl's. I would definitely take it to the shop like Stevebo and others have mentioned. Craig and Geno you can keep you garage mechanics corp and piles of chevy. I've got a Ford that will run circles around both. Sorry guys but I'm a dedicated Ford fan.

2 pointsYou guys talk about inspections as a bad thing ?? I look over my vehicles pretty good but every once in a blue moon the shop finds something wrong & I'm thankful for that . Driving a semi in the city for a living , I can't even begin to tell you all the crap I see . Mufflers held up with coat-hangers , missing / broken rear view mirrors . wheels wobbling & some to the point where I wonder if all the nuts ( no pun intended ) are tight . I even spotted a guy with lumber in his car sticking out the window , now what if the end of that wood clipped a sign or pole or something ? I have this to say , if i'm driving home or to work one day & someones wheel ( or other part) flies off their car & into my windshield , they better make sure I'm dead . 'Cause if I'm not , someone's gettin' a whoopin' ! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

1 pointPretty sure you all are a bad influence. I just drove 150 miles on crappy roads to pick up some cheap mower decks that probably don't even fit my tractor. Question is, to adapt one to my B80, or just buy a tractor they fit??? [emoji3]

1 point8 years ago today, RedSquare was started. At the time it was called "whtractor.15.forumer.com" and started with just a few members. Happy 8 years RedSquare, things have come a long way, and really looking forward to the next 8 years! Oh, and happy 8 years Mike (Sparky), the only active member to be here since day 1!

1 pointMy wife what can I say other than shes amazing. Not just my wife but my best friend she grew up on a farm and is right at home with tractors of any shape and size she accompanies me on all of my tractor rustling and goes too all the tractor shows I attend. She makes reproduction seat covers for me and too sell. She will sit under our canopy at the shows and talk tractors to anyone who stops by. she has never complained or asked me why I am buying this although sometimes I wish she would then maybe I wouldn't have 45+ tractors sitting around. Those of you who have been lucky enough to meet her know shes a keeper and I wouldn't trade her for a dog that could hunt Brian

1 pointSearch for 'Horse Fixer' -- He did a "Snow Chucker" build several years ago on here -- And yes he has LIGHTS, and music, and thermometers, and music, and .......
-
1 pointYa know that ole saying theres more then one way to skin a deer(most people say cat but I like cats to much ). Any way it gets fixed is a good fix and if your not doing any tough work with the tractor it probably doesn't even need to be fixed. I mowed and snowblowed a bunch before I realized mine was cracked. I realized when I made up a rear hitch for it and started to tow around my snowmobile trailer with sleds on it. Even then it just allowed the trans to twist enough to mess up the linkage. Since adding my bracket ive towed my 3 place sled trailer loaded so 2,000+lbs with 2-300lbs of tongue weight with no issues.....these tractors amaze me more and more everyday.
-
1 pointNot sure what you're asking here kid. Bigger is better for me so I like the 10.5's. You just need the proper width rims. Tube or tubeless? I'll run tubeless until they give me fits then I stick tubes in them.

1 pointJohn, the thing about people shots and it is not posed can be the stuff that books on coffee tables are made of. I put those in there to show what I think Jason is looking for and I picked those because you were in there. BTW...it is Jon Bell you are talking with in the 1st pic...the 2nd pic is you and Scott (Smoreau). I like to take a lot of people pictures, and they are all in the show threads....but like Jason says...if I made them Black & White...or Sepia, they would look like they were taken back in the day. Actually, I think the people shots are the most important, and catching people not posed at shows, is going to give this thread a certain look back in time with some of the members that have made this site what it is (showing the history of RS). Check this out...here is Ken B with his hat on in 2013...he did not wear his hat on Thursday in 2014...and no one recognized him. While this is a posed picture...it is a great shot of Ken. or this...

1 pointwhat you can't see are the wires holding the axle up, good camera angle and use of the light to obscure them....
-
1 pointTake a good look at those sprocket bearings! If that chain is like you said it was I bet those bearings aren't too far behind. I wouldn't even mess with that old chain. Replace it. If you don't you'll be fixing it in the middle of a snowstorm!
-
1 pointIf the fuse blows that quickly I would bet you have a wire that chaffed and is shorting out to the chassis. Its hard to tell you which one at this point, but starter/solenoid power wire is a good start. P.S. Its not encouraging people to help you when you start out by demeaning the brand of tractors a whole forum is dedicated to that YOU came to for help. I understand your frustrations with it, but we have 40+ year old tractors on here in perfect running condition... It has less to do with the brand and more to do with the care it has received.
-
1 pointSpeaking for myself I appreciate these posts you guys made very much because these statements make the issue much clearer than the few sentences relevant to this issue in the WH book! My apologies for weighing in on the issue because my experience, background and knowledge about levers or Seniors for that matter is virtually nothing, only what I read in that WH book. I am however more versed with Model A Ford and pre 1948 Fords which was what prompted me to comment in the first place. Your clarifications however explain why I had read about Model A parts used on early WH tractors yet the pictures in this thread clearly showed what was a V-8 transmission, so again thank you for the lesson and the clarification. Now I know just a bit more thanks to you gentlemen.

1 pointIf they are anything like the after-market Tecumseh carburetors that I bought this winter for a couple of snow blowers, I'd say go for it. The Techy ones worked great.
