8 pointsIt's not doing any good to try to stop so what the @$!#. Got a call from Todd Pitts the other day and we had been talking about a bunch of stuff so he brought it up last night. The condition of this stuff is unreal. I cleaned a spot on the tiller with Windex and it looks almost new, there is still paint on the tines. I didn't think stuff was out there in this condition. Sandra says pressure washing is out of the question unless it gets warm so no pics of the cleaned up version. We got a 72 Bronco 14 auto with hydro lift + electric clutch, tiller, aerator, 11 more decks that are stacked up outside, the WHEZ Vac setup, and 2 more plows. I have 38 decks and 21 plows now, that should be some sort of record...

4 pointsWell I seen this wheel horse from the road way back up by this guy's house. I tried the old envelope trick in the mailbox Friday I got surprise call from the guy who own it. He didn't know what model it was neither did I thought it was a classic 310 from a distance. It ended up being a 1989 wheel horse HC with a 60inch deck. Under 300 hours if the odometer if is working right. I had the poker face on a got a great deal on it! Stole it for the price I got it for!! I try to deal with him more on the John Deere 410 trying to show him more interest in that tractor lol. But at the end I wanted the 520HC. The tractor would stay out all winter but now it has a barn...520hc are rare around here....

4 pointsThe day started out early ... just as the sun rose I was out working on my eh trailer.... have to be prepared when you venture into the territory of the he who dominates the WH market in this area ... a while back after talking with Geno about some other parts - he got to talking with me about a 520h he had .. it wasn't in the best shape but is mechanically sound - however he wanted to pull the motor for another tractor he had. A deal was struck ... I had a new project tractor - what that project is, I'm not saying yet So i've ventured to the dragons lair with my B80 & Plow (needed to try a NOS part to see if it would work before duplication) AND a 520H for a upcoming project... I know how ya'll want picture(s) .... (no comments about my 25.00 trailer please ... it'll get some TLC over the next few months Thanks Geno!! Appreciate the tractor and the time relaxing in your shop ... looking forward to the 6th!

3 pointsThat is a job for those who have the right set up. In the end the extra money spent will be well worth having someone else do it.

3 pointsI'll tell ya, I had NO idea I had a broken spring, and if it weren't for the inspection I wouldn't have known either (until I took off the wheel). I routinely hookup 13,000 lbs to the back of this and what a disaster that would have been huh? The price of a new spring is in the $150 ball park (USA made via internet). The biggest issue with the install will be getting the shackle bolts out since I don't think that the impact wrench will fit in there with the bed on. I'm sure a little heat will help matters, but it looks like a several hour job per side. I'd have to imagine that a spring shop can do this in about an hour or so. If one side broke, I think that I'll replace both just because I really don't want to screw around with a truck that pulls heavy.

2 pointsWell this topic hits the nail right on the head. I just got my daugters jeep going again after finding the broken wire under the coil pack harness. JUST told my co worker that it so far has been good for two weeks and if it will just last till after Christmas I would be happy. Not 10 minutes after that she texts me a picture and asks what the green stuff is running out of her dash on the floorboard.I texted her back a you tube video of two guys tearing the dash out of a cherokee. Again, NOT HAPPY. I cant get a break. Karl, I feel your pain.

2 pointsI worked on cars for 20 years for a living and I don't even change my own oil anymore. That shows you how much I enjoyed my old profession!👎
-
2 pointsDino, I'm thinking anywhere from $450 to $600 for both springs. If you talk wiith the guys at the shop Karl they might even be able to beef those springs up for you. If I remember correctly you pull a fifth wheel trailer and a lil extra beef never hurt No bobody as long as it works for you. It should be right about that amount even for the Big truck like Karl's. I would definitely take it to the shop like Stevebo and others have mentioned. Craig and Geno you can keep you garage mechanics corp and piles of chevy. I've got a Ford that will run circles around both. Sorry guys but I'm a dedicated Ford fan.

2 pointsYou guys talk about inspections as a bad thing ?? I look over my vehicles pretty good but every once in a blue moon the shop finds something wrong & I'm thankful for that . Driving a semi in the city for a living , I can't even begin to tell you all the crap I see . Mufflers held up with coat-hangers , missing / broken rear view mirrors . wheels wobbling & some to the point where I wonder if all the nuts ( no pun intended ) are tight . I even spotted a guy with lumber in his car sticking out the window , now what if the end of that wood clipped a sign or pole or something ? I have this to say , if i'm driving home or to work one day & someones wheel ( or other part) flies off their car & into my windshield , they better make sure I'm dead . 'Cause if I'm not , someone's gettin' a whoopin' ! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

1 pointWell its just out of the shop for the first cruise around the yard. Pretty happy with it, overhauled the whole steering system including axle pivot pin. New piston, rings, rod, crank ground, and valve seats, three ribs on the front and the seat. What y'all think? Anybody got an earlier serial number? Hoping to see several of you at the Northeast Indiana Steam and Gas Association Show in Lagrange Indiana August 7th-10th Denise and I will be there with this 953 her Stitchin' Chic Cruiser and a few others. Hint hint , Horsefixer, Martin, Steveasauras, sousakerry, smoreau, Kelly, Perry and others I am sure I am forgetting.

1 pointHad a k141 laying round, put it on and she lit right off! I was out mowing alittle grass with it too
-
1 pointYes, forgot all about that little glitch - I removed the butterfly and shaft from my old carb and put it in the new. Those two teeny screws can sometimes be a booger to get out what with being brass. I broke one of mine off and the other rounded so bad as to be unusable, I think? I found that they were 4-40? anyway I retapped them and used button hex heads as replacement. If the screws come out its an easy swap over...

1 pointNot much to report guy's and girl's, life has been rather busy with this house move lark.. But I did manage to get my big bench cleared and re-skinned with a much thicker top Yes it will be gaining some extra legs to help hold it up.. A bit of a sad video for you.. And then it was gone!!!

1 pointthis is my humble snow-removal entry. it was a 1973 8hp. I am half heartedly looking for a kohler k91 to power it, but at this point I have a Honda gx160 . it is also 9 cubic inches(like the k91) and is rated at 4.8hp. I have used it to move gravel in my driveway and to push large piles of yard debris, etc. it performs really well.

1 pointDino, you getting nervous yet??? I can just about bet your sweating up big time like a hot Illinois afternoon. Are they or aren't they, time will tell us big guy!!!
-
1 pointTubeless until rims become problems. As long as either holds air, go with whatever.
-
1 pointNah. It's just another way to keep the air inside the tires. The tires don't know any difference.
-
1 pointWhat difference does it make as long as they hold air. Any tire that wont hold air on my tractors get a tube.
-
1 pointCongrats Duke! I hope you have a lot of time to work on the horses. I looked up my retirement portfolio and this is what it looked like..... Not happy, lol

1 pointI'll throw a couple into the mix. Also kind of curious if anyone might have a photo of Karl doing the parade from the Big show where he's riding around in the back of the wagon shooting the parade? Ok that's out there. Martin you have quite the undertaking by taking on this. Go out and snap twelve pictures of your sweet tractors and there ya go! Good luck John
-
1 pointI think I'm going to look on Terrys site for a big horse logo. The entire plate thickness is 3.5"
-
1 pointHere are a couple pictures of the original 953 Wheel Horse steering wheel. You do not see many of these original steering wheels still on a 953. I do not believe they used this steering wheel on all the 953's as I have seen too many 953's with the later 1054 type wheel with the rounded cap/logo insert. Glenn Pettit has a boat steering wheel in white just like this one. Last year I gave Glen my 953 steering wheel insert to use (the diamond shaped one was made out of brass and painted matte black and had a dimond shaped logo decal on it in the center which Terry Dennis has already made up too) to make a mockup plastic insert for use as a replacement for any folks that have this diamond shaped steering wheel but no insert on their 953.
-
1 pointYes I got one - and actually it was also for a 1054! This was last summer and when it came in I was very pleased with appearance/fit/finish etc it and bolted right up and went to install cables --- uh oh, the choke butterfly was backward! Oh well, the butterfly/shaft off the old carb was good and I just switched them out. I see from the pics that they must have addressed that problem since theyre showing the other shaft. Oh, and the 1054 apparently could care less that a Chinese product was giving it fuel - it ran perfectly... and hey, the cost was real easy to swallow compared to other brands!
