8 years ago today, RedSquare was started. At the time it was called "whtractor.15.forumer.com" and started with just a few members. Happy 8 years RedSquare, things have come a long way, and really looking forward to the next 8 years! Oh, and happy 8 years Mike (Sparky), the only active member to be here since day 1!

You have made this forum the standard that I wish other forums would follow. OK, I'm partial to the subject matter but even more importantly, the incredible manner in which you and all the moderators 'police' it. That and the great people here make it a joy to be a part of it.

I have finished a few more of these wood projects since I last posted that I will have to get pictures of. I worked on this one on and off for a few days this week. The wood for these two little projects came from scrap piece's from Stevebo's barn build.

A fairly major project on this house and one at a rental has limited me to a few minutes here and there on my Suburban. I was going to wait until the fenders were done to take more pictures but a paint issue set me back and I wanted to post again. After three attempts to save the fenders I’m now going to strip them down again and start over. I did get the front end put together and I’m happy with it. It works great and there’s no play. I was anxious to see the repop belt guard in place. One of the head bolts on a Tecky motor I tore apart worked as a standoff for it after some minor modification. I don’t think the tractors immune system will reject it. The seat is painted with Krylon Ivory and I think like the color. It’s a tad darker than the picture looks. I’m not sure if the rear hitch lift cable is the proper length. I’m wondering if it will run under the engine properly. The wheels were covered with tranny oil and I thought all they would take is some sanding and a repaint but after cleaning them up the current paint job is as bad as the rest of the tractor was so it will be a complete strip. They have tubes but this one went flat. I’ll remove the tires to redo the wheels and install new tubes.

Thanks Russ hope you feel better soon. The only thing you need to do is come here and sit by the wood stove and have a nice enjoyable drink with me once this thing is done With that said we are closer to getting to that point. Cousins Timbo and Toddbo are coming over in the am to run the power down to the barn. I need a little over 300 ft of wire to get there !! I was able to work with the barn guy to help install the front door and the framing that holds the shed roof over the door. We also got one of the benches built. They are a little taller than I would have liked them to be however it was by choice because I have some very nice roll out draws that will be painted WH Red and then installed under the bench. The clearance we needed was 39". Tomorrow he will be back to install the second bench on the opposite end. It really is coming together nice for sure. Anyone who may want to stop by tomorrow and check it out we will be here.

I'm trying to stop, really I am, haven't bought anything in like almost 3 weeks except the C175 a few days ago. Guy calls me Tuesday evening and has 3, a 953 that runs with a deck, a C105 that ran this past Spring with a deck, and a 653 with the motor off and no hood, and an extra deck. He says he also has quite a few parts in with the deal which was very good but I was really trying not to buy more. Well Sandra says she wants the 653 so I call back and as him what the least is he will take. He comes back really good and says he'll throw in 4 extra engines, every part he has, some extra tires + wheels, and a Wheel Horse Radio that his uncle bought new, and it works... What would you do.

A lot of times the wire that gets rubbed through is against the steering column near the key switch , behind the battery. If that's not it ... download the wiring diagram and see what devices the fuse protects. Wiring is simple ... once you calm down. The problem you have is a less than 15 minute repair once you see the wiring diagram .... from the battery to the fuse, to the key switch, thru the safety switches and on to the solenoid. There, it's fixed!

I believe that same radio was used on many farm tractors back in the day. Think the first one I saw was on a I/H, or Farmall.

Not to reference Bob here, but this sentimental value thing isn't always the case with some. Some people use it as an excuse to get more for it, or play on our emotions to feel sorry for them, not all but more than I would have thought in the beginning. My dads 414 has sentimental value in this way, it is not for sale at any price period. If I did sell something of his and he passed and I wanted it back, no price would be too high either so I see both sides.

Be easy on Geno AJ. After all, he's only been into for 4 1/2 months so he doesn't have any sentimental attachments to them. You're right though. A classic example is the proxy bid I placed on Ebay when I got the Suburban 400. It was way more than I should have paid but I just flat out wanted it bad since it was the same model my Dad bought. Fortunately I got it for way less than than my maximum bid. Also, a lot has to do with location. Would I have paid $800 to get my baby back? Probably not. But I'm sure the guy, under the circumstances, would have sold it to me for a lot less. Now $400? Definitely. Just ask anybody what it costs for an excellent 48" deck. Just ignore those who say they just bought a 520 in mint condition with a 60" deck and two stage blower for $200.

Rob, as I have many times before seen this happen you get all of this fired up and going then Nobody shows. Its like selling a tractor. You put adds out stating what your selling get a half dozen calls on saying I'll be right over you sit there patiently waiting and Nobody shows. There's another day wasted. Anyways I think maybe a small deposit be put up for this. You don't show there are No refunds that way hopefully you'll be covered. Good luck

Oopppps that could have been bad, a definite correction. Kind of glad I went back to look. Michigan State over Maryland. I don't know alot about Temple but I like Penn State so I have to believe they will pull this out. Another thing while I'm here is I believe Joe Pa's record should remain intact especially with all this B.S. coming out about how the NCAA played them. I don't know everything on the subject but I do believe that when he testified he Was telling the truth and Nothing but!!! Reinstate Joe Pa's records!!!! He had nothing to do with Sandusky!!! That's the end of this story

My wife what can I say other than shes amazing. Not just my wife but my best friend she grew up on a farm and is right at home with tractors of any shape and size she accompanies me on all of my tractor rustling and goes too all the tractor shows I attend. She makes reproduction seat covers for me and too sell. She will sit under our canopy at the shows and talk tractors to anyone who stops by. she has never complained or asked me why I am buying this although sometimes I wish she would then maybe I wouldn't have 45+ tractors sitting around. Those of you who have been lucky enough to meet her know shes a keeper and I wouldn't trade her for a dog that could hunt Brian

So, I work for one of the largest leather companies in the Country. Very high end, and very expensive. This is one of the original horses that leather calf hides were kept on from waaayyyy back in the day. They are well built and have been around since the early 50's. The wood ones are slowly being replaced. The original owner of the company would die if he knew these were getting junked, (he sold the company a few yrs. ago for a cool 80 million.) I have been re-purposing some of the wood horse's when I have time and this is what I came up for this one. The tops of the horse's had a 8 inch round piece of oak (cut in half) that I removed and I'm looking for something cool to do with them, something will come to me. My wife thinks I should take the wheels off but I think they are too cool to take off.

I looked up the model on this site and appears to be a 1974 C-162 with the 16hp Tecumseh engine. My 9 year grandson mulched some leaves with it this afternoon. I plan to use this one for grass cutting duties.

You could try removing the gas from your existing float and sealing it with the resin also. A relatively easy way to get the gas out of the float is to submerge it in hot (near boiling) water. Do this outside away from heat & flame, so don't use a hotplate/burner under the pot of water while doing this! As the gas heats up it will expand and turn to vapor; turning the float around underwater should eventually reveal a stream of bubbles showing the leak's location, once found turn the float so the leak is at the bottom. I've used this trick to empty flooded brass carb floats so they could be repaired.

well, i said i won't buy a chute, but i just picked one up off eBay for $7.00. not wheelhorse, its off an ariens walk behind, i will have to make the lower round section to make it the right height as its only about 14 inches tall right now, but the top sections are the hard ones to make and this should be an easy way out. i say that now and will probably pay dearly later....... heres what it looks like.....

Good luck Duke! I retired at 58 with almost 40 years in healthcare. Was the second best decision in my life, second only to my wife of almost 35 years. What really has amazed me is all the crap I don't do now when I have the time that I didn't do then because I didn't have the time. If this doesn't make since to you now, it will in a few months....LOL!!! Retirement to me is only the second best thing to my grandkids! CONGRATS!!!

Sorry John...but this sets up a good game next week. Iowa is at Illinois...and Illinois beat Minnesota a couple of weeks ago. Let me guess...you are going to pick the Hawkeyes.
