13 pointsAs some as you may know. I had a little Medical issue a week and a half ago. With winter approaching I knew it would be a challenge to get tractors ready for winter. Craig (AMC Rules) offered to come over and give me a hand. And when he found out I was looking for an older tractor to plow snow at work he offered me his 1267 at a great price. He drove the 5 HOURS ONE WAY! today. I needed a plow for it and Brian (buckrancher) had one and after driving from CT. and back yesterday he brought it up this morning. Both the tractor and plow needed some love and good old fashioned thrashing to make everything work. We filled all the tires with RV antifreeze but 1 of Craig's tires he wanted filled going to need a tube so out the fluid came. Stevasaurus called in on Skype and brought Jim D. along. We had a mini M & G going with a ton of laughs. We even got the plow on the tractor!!! Wife made chili and brownies and we let Steve and Jim know what they were missing. I can't thank Craig and Brian enough for all the help and Steve and Jim for the back row heckling. Here are some pics. I even got Craig on Elvis! I called it Sqonk Fest instead of Squonk Fest because SOMEONE has trouble with the letter U!

7 pointsToday in UK we remember those that gave their lives in the great world wars It is 100 years ago this year that world war 1 took place To commemorate this 888, 246 ceramic poppies were laid at The Tower of London ,each poppy laid represented each life that was given by the young folk At 11am we will give 2 minutes silence to remember those that lost their lives Please take a moment to also remember them http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2826070/The-Left-sneered-poppies-reconnect-generation-heroes-never-knew-writes-ROBERT-HARDMAN.html

6 pointsFollowed up on a craigslist post today and came home very happy! Here's the haul, C-120 with near perfect 42" deck, 42" snowplow, snowblower, and rear moldboard plow. Everything is in really nice shape, even got all the manuals. All for the tidy sum of $400.
-
5 points...and here's the star of today's show... ...the Skunk himself, just waiting for a snow flake.

4 pointsJust finished her today. Pulled her into the front yard and took a few photos. I am lacking the parking brake lever but thanks to Kelly from this forum I will have one in a few days. Thanks again Kelly. I also have a set of red grease caps coming from Glen who is also on this forum and they look like a real nice product. The 854 runs great and no leaks to be found, so far. Thanks everyone for answering questions , without this forum it would be difficult to restore one of these guys. Looking for the next one...

4 pointsIt was a unique experience overall. The add had been on Craigslist for over a week when I called. No where in the add did it mention that these were Wheel Horse. The add title only said farm equipment. Click on the add and there were pictures of the equipment, but still no mention of Wheel Horse. The other thing that was unique, was that the gentelman was deaf. When calling him on the phone an interpreter through a video screen would sign him my talking, and then they would relay back what he would sign. During the pickup through hand signals and him reading my lips we were able to communicate quite easily. He made sure I knew how everything worked, and gave me a big hug when I was ready to leave. From what I could gather he may have owned these since new, and I could tell he was genuinly happy to see it going to a good home.

I find myself having to answer lots of questions Why do you need another one What you gonna do with them all What do I do with them if anything happens to you Where you gonna put them all What was that you had delivered today by the postman ( oh it was nothing much dear just some boring things for a job at work) Why do you spend so much time on that tractor forum Ans so on She is actually quite tolerant

2 pointsI've had this B for quite a few years now, and it's been my constant go to, and ALWAYS starts and is able to do everything I need it to, even when ... it probably shouldn't - haha With that being said, it's time that my favorite gets some TLC. It's going to be slow going ... as I'm still using it as my go to tractor. Sheet metal first - then I'll do the frame and other bits while the motor is at the machine shop. Will be using Base/Clear urethane and High build primer (its much more forgiving on the small imperfections when I block it out to be sure its straight) Pictures! Started with the seat pan ... It is in great shape just the paint is WAY tired so I'm just hitting it with some 60 grit paper on the DA. Geno media blasted this hood for me a week ago, Sandblasting profiles the metal so I had to run the DA over it too, but it's come out alright ... there are quite a few dents that need to be fixed but nothing 'major' - unlike the original hood. It's just in a self etching primer to allow me to bodywork it. Stay Tuned for more!

2 pointsCouldn't wait to try out my C-120 that I picked up yesterday, so I hooked the plow up I got with it and went to the garden. Conditions were marginble at best, but I didn't care, had a smile on my face the whole time. Tractor and plow both worked great. Mounted the snowblower this afternoon so I'm ready for snow now.

2 pointsI used to go to Sylva NC frequently (like every other week) and door to door got down to be just under five hours ... You're probably looking at 6.5 from where you're at ... but I think it'll be worth the trip
-
2 pointsGeno, I like your idea. Theres no chance of me getting away from work and family this fall but if this happens in the spring I'd like to go. Keep us posted, this could be the best chance for the few of us in the south to attend an event without a 12 hour one way drive.
-
2 pointsLooks like a good Time, I woulda been in on that Skype but I was up late last night and didn't get up till noon! Good luck with yer new to you tractor. I'm sure it means a lot more with all that help. ~Duke

2 pointsRACIN'BOB...I like your attitude...it is about time you stopped messing with us and got on your horse. So what do you think about the Northwestern at Notre Dame game?? John...I saw Iowa as a 6-6 team from the start of the year...if they can beat Illinois next week...they will be 7-5 and get to play in the TIDY BOWL... Just sayin'. Hey, are we going to the game?? I'm just saying...this week's games...well the parity is there, and they could be playing in the snow or freezing temps for the first time this year. Home field could be major...if i remember...Purdue gave Notre Dame a tuff game..Illinois beat Minnesota, (Iowa did not)...who is Temple??...Ohio St. is at Minnesota (and they are in the driver's seat in the west conference)...Ind at Rutgers (could be the one game we all pick)...Neb at Wis (who gets to play Ohio St. for the Big Ten Championship)...NW at Notre Dame (this game is for Racin'Bob)...Mish St. at Maryland (who cares ??/) JimD...this your chance to get out of the basement!!! I would not look at anyone else's picks this week. Light the candles, consult your shaman, have a mind expanding brownie, buy a bottle of Rock & Rye,, pick all the teams that RMCIII picks different (I know...I am going to Hell for that), BTW...Hodge is letting some of us back in the game... ...don't pick Iowa (unless you have a extra-terrestrial encounter)...and I am thinking Indiana over Rutgers.(don't quote me on that)...it depends on if you want to share any of your doughnuts. Finally, Mich St. at Maryland...a devastated Michigan St. with no chance at the championship now playing at Maryland (this is where new rivalries are started). Climb the ladder Jim...grab the guy in front of you by the ankles and do the Indiana Jones thingy...get out the whip and the Fedora hat...get out the crystal skull...hold up the Holy Grail and don't look when they open the Ark. You can do this...this is the Big Ten...

2 pointsI'd have to say I'm pretty lucky. When we lived in Indiana and I always had a herd of 8-10 my wife didn't get involved but definitely appreciated the work and fun I had with them. It helped that I had 2 dedicated to mowing in the summer, 1 dedicated to a sickle bar mower, a parade 854, and in the winter 1 with a blade and 1 with a blower to handle 800' of driveway smack in the middle of the Lake Michigan lake effect snow belt. After moving here I had sold all of them but the 854 and that was sold down here because we were traveling around in our motorhome. After getting tired of traveling we bought a house and I bought a big box Junk Deere because Wheel Horses were so hard to find down here. After a couple of years of fighting that thing we set out in earnest to find a real tractor. She looked as hard as I did. That's when we found the 2005 Classic GT on the gulf coast. She was thrilled that I got it because she knew how much better they were than the green and was tired of me at it. When I found the Suburban 400 and to restore she was quite happy that I had one to restore again. She also truly enjoys the fun I have on here.

2 pointsI be using my 68 commando 8 with 42in plow and i have a 32inch blower for it from hammerhead 1987 312-8 with 42inch blower with wheel horse extra attachment fuel tank and my b80 -8 speed with a 48inch plow and i just repower it with 16hp kohler
-
2 pointsYou mean the world isn't flat???? I don't know about that...it's pretty flat here in Illinois.
-
1 pointMy collection theme became the 300/400 series tractors with the occasional Black Hood thrown in for fun. Kohlers only, K engines or Magnums. Most everything interchanges, including implements. I've purchased enough of them to insure that I will never have to settle for a box store piece of junk or any tractor approved by the EPA. And I can mow in reverse if I want to!
-
1 pointIs it humanly possible to be older than Duke? ...oops, I mean dirt. Happy Birthday dirt... oops, I mean Duke.
-
1 pointLooks like you are ready for a blizzard! I haven't begun to put a blade on any of mine yet! I may have to mow before then!

1 pointOne of your jack shaft or sprocket bearings may be seized. I would take the master link off the chain and check everything to be sure. If everything is original it may be time for an overhaul.
-
1 point71-08K801 is the ID of your 1977 tractor. The number that follows it is the serial number, and the four digit number below is the Julian date of manufacture.

1 pointCOD, good troubleshooting and yes, there are some faults with RR units that can be repaired by individuals with the proper skill sets. I did a complete and fully documented an RR autopsy many years back, and many useful discoveries were made from the process. Not surprising, these discoveries are still posted here as first round fixes - most times by the very same people who thought the original post was "useless". Go figure. The original post was apparently lost when the RedSquare site migrated to a different server. It's a shame really, as the original post had over 50,000 views in just one year! I really never figured it would be one of the all time most viewed posts on this site! My question to you would be are you willing to spend $20 to fix an RR unit that could be snagged of Ebay for $30? If the answer is NO, then just save your pennies to purchase a new regulator. If your answer is based on gaining knowledge of how these regulators are constructed, how they function, and if the possibility exists that yours might be able to resurrected, then we can continue. After the previous post was "lost in the move", I continued off line conversations with several individuals who continued to show interest in the learning aspect of the post. I would be happy to send you a PDF file documenting the deconstruction of the RR, the weak areas of construction and the areas which can be accessed and repaired.
