Ok guys. Me and the brother just picked it up. The 50 dollar wheel horse. The owner let me have it for 40 dollars. 10 bucks off. At least it was saved from the scrap heap. AND only about 3 miles from my home. Glenn

Here it is 4:00 in the morning and cant sleep, up looking for something to work on As I wrote in another post that I am being treated for cancer. I feel like 40 again. The Oncologist told me it would be like this .He also told me it will not last for long. He said next week I will be sick as hell. This is because of the Steroid in the chemo. I just keep going and going,up and down the stairs, cleaning things up, moving things.LOL it's cool to remember how you felt and what you could do. This lead me to the subject of steroids and sports, I don't know how but the connection came up.I am certainly no athlete. But this episode of my steroid use has made me believe that any award given, and any bonus paid to an athlete should be taken away. The award and money should be given to the next player who is willing to be tested and passes the drug use. I know I could not be doing all I am doing now without the drug. And I'm not just talking steroids, I mean all performance enhancing drug. OK that's my enhanced rant for today,so there's no charge

Been a few weeks since I had any seat time so my yard was out of control with leaves. I just did a motor swap on the 312-A so that's part of my reason for being down for a bit. Here are my twins ready for duty Here is my Wikco sweeper that was purchased way back by my grandfather which he used with his 1985 312-8. These sweepers and parts can still be purchased, price tag today is 1299!!! I save it from the weeds after it sat for a few years cleaned it up and painted it wheel horse red. Have a wheel horse decal for it but haven't put it on yet. With some good ground speed I was able to get the sweeper pretty full All together I was out for about 3 hours and figured I dumped the sweeper 50+ times and also filled my 3 place snowmobile trailer 3 times. I was the good neighbor though and did my next door neighbors front yard. I should have taken a pic of that because her leaves were so deep I thought about going to mount the snowblower attachment Hope you guys enjoy the photos!!

lost my senses awhile back and bought this wheel horse senior that needs help bad. It started when I called about an add on craigslist from a gentleman selling a wheel horse collection but there were no pictures or any tractors listed. when I called I asked what do you have for sale and he replied what are you looking for Sooo for the heck of it I said a wheel horse senior there was a moment of silence then he said I have one but I was not going to sell it . so we talked for awhile and found out we knew who each other was from the wheel horse show he was looking for some information I had so we traded e-mail address and hung up later I e-mailed him the information we was looking for and told him that if he ever decides to sell the senior to let me know. about two months went by and I received an e-mail from him wondering if I was still interested in buying the senior well one thing lead to another and a deal was made and now I have my work cut out for me too save this one this one will be a learning experience Brian

Picked up an almost new brinly rear grader blade sun afternoon. Its 38" wide, and am thinking of making it up as a mid mount blade and also still be able to mount on back aswell. What do you guys think?

Dealers no longer have these available, so we are reproducing them: (Note: only have Red available, until early December; will be making more this month . . . ) 1.5"ID Red Front Wheel Rubber HUB CAPS These are available in RED, Black and Ivory/White and will fit every 1.5" wheel hub. Our Reproduced Logo Hub Caps will also come with a pair of 1.4" Black or Red "Upper Spindle Caps" (tell me which, otherwise we'll send black) to fit over the upper axle end, (see examples lower left in the photo), that is where most of the dust, dirt & water gets down & in. These are all 'fresh', newly made parts by us here in mid-MI. The logo we use is about 30% larger than the original . The majority of factory Hub Caps used were RED, but White & Black were issued on some models. Be sure to measure your Hub size, these fit onto a 11/2"OD Hub. Be sure to tell me if you want the Black or the Red uppers, and which color Logo Hub Caps; Red, Black or White, otherwise we'll send Red. $20 /pair, including the uppers, plus $2.50 First Class shipping. Extra -- Black or Red UPPER 11/4" Spindle caps are only: $1 @, or 6/$5 or 12/$8 (plus shipping) Prefer personal check or m.o. over PayPal (or just add their 5% service fee): Combine orders to save, contact me for cost.-GlenPettit@WheelHorseForum.com . What he said.^^^ There may be nothing wrong with that motor other than a float valve leaking. A carburetor kit could be all it needs.

looking at the stuff that is coming out of the oil hole, looks a lot like the oil a mate of mine had in his home made atv, it had a carb that didn't stop overflowing, might want to check that and get it running for now so you can test the trans and deck Koen

I am not a big proponent of filled tires, but I know that many of you are and have been using that technique successfully for many years. It has been over 40 years since I took Engineering Mechanics, but I do remember that rotational inertia must be counterbalanced by the strength of materials. Inertia can be your friend as well as your enemy. It is a good thing the designers of the WH Unidrive way back in the 50's over designed the pinion and differential gears or else those tranny's would be littered with broken gear teeth. Weight placed close to the center of rotation is a bit easier of the drive train. But hey, who am I to argue with success. If it works, go for it!

Here is the one I made for my 312-8 afer the original rusted through. I made it from stainless & copied the original down to the internal volume, # of holes in the tubes etc because it is fitted with the Walbro non adjustable carb, but then bought a Kohler carb from Joe's outdoor power, it is very quiet Doug.

The odds are posted. My SWAG picks were almost spot on (not that it means anything) with the exception of Northwestern being 1 point favorites. I don't always go with the favorites and with it being a home game for Northwestern (puttycats? ) they could pull it off. I'll stick with my gut feeling on that one. I do like donuts

Thanks Steve but ask Rob what happens when you change your picks The way I figure it, I'm not doing so well with my usual method so why not change things up. Wait a minute.......change 4 picks??

Yeah it's going to be a great hangout for us guys who live close! Steve's even gonna let me keep my restored horses in there so I can free up some room in my workshop. Hopefully we can get the roof and siding finished this week. With any luck the main guys building it will get the doors and the rest of the windows installed and it will be weather tight.

A friend called, "Hey found some WH items you might want." Three items were dropped off: 1) 48" SD deck, excellent condition, used perhaps twice; 2) Attach-A-Matic hitch, new, boxed; 3) 42" SD chute, like new. Seems the PO wrecked a Horse, dealer, refurbished, never used. Landscapers took over the mowin' chores. Felt like Christmas when the items were dropped off!

In my opinion. Not normally. Exactly..how noisey? Stand in font of blower when on...check auger rotation. See if there is wobble. Glenn

I thought that the gas went in that hole, and the oil went in the big container at the top of the mower. Don't engines burn more oil than gas? Rob

Filters aren't that expensive. Buy a paper one, spend the 2 bucks more and get the foam pre-cleaner. In 2 yrs. spend another 2 bucks on another pre-cleaner.

Ed, that was a change in 1995 on the 79360 for the 300/400/500. The 79365 for the 5xi always had it. It must improve the performance.

Picked up the poor Horse 'bout a month ago. The owner had no use for it...but, we do. For what? Don't know but the poor thing was headed to the scrap yard. I hauled it away for $0 and my gas. Hey, I had to drive thirty miles round trip! Gimme a break gentlemen! Tires, seat, plastic steering wheel column, shift boot (dust cover to TORO), paint, grease, fuel lines, oil change, now I have the rear reflectors off for tail lamps. I'm workin' my hoofs off dudes! The poor Stallion is sittin' in the barn, just hauled two 17 cu ft loads of wood for the stove. And get this, did the hauling while the 48" dozer blade was on the front of the Clydesdale, I mean Horse. Sorry.

Brian, I have never seen one of your projects fail to meet my expectations. If there is something that you can't find, you make it. No doubt this Senior will have the marks of your genius all over it. We have not had a "buckrancher" restoration thread going for a while, so I look forward to this one. Keep the camera handy.

I use a paint pen. Elmer's and Sharpie make them. I have one medium and one fine tip. I use them to print the embossed letters on round hoods, and when I restore my dash panels.

Thought I'd post up some more pictures of the internals for anyone who is interested. Despite the crankcase being aluminum, it is a pretty stout piece with lots of stiffening ribs: The underneath of the engine has two little "windows" to allow forced air from the blower housing to coll the underneath of the engine. For this reason it would be a good idea to mount the engine on the chassis with the centre section of the crankcase clear to allow the air to flow: The tapered and the straight cranks. Note that my new straight crank doesn't have a plug in the end of the oil gallery drilling. The tapered crank has an aluminum plug hammered into it. I tapped the hole to accept a short 5/16 setscrew. The balance shaft: And the cylinder head: And the piston: Wont have parts till Monday, I hope to have this thing back together next week.
