I dont get home till its almost dark now and I have my boy on the weekends so I was really running out of options! I needed to cut the grass! My "aha moment" 5 minute solution: Inverter + LED work light + bungee cords. It ain't pretty but it sure did work. Its hard to tell in the pictures but that light is almost 4x as bright as the headlights. There was no light to the sides or behind me which would have been very helpful for some cutting and when I was sweeping the leaves, so i think my ultimate tractor (C-205HD thread) will get full perimeter LED lighting that will be cleverly hidden.

Ok I know it's Halloween but does this look like October? I think maybe mowing season is on hold.

Just got back from going around with the kids trick and treating. We go up to a house..I spot red way way way back in the corner of the property. Said to my son mike...geez. wonder if that's a wheel horse. Next thing I know Mike is waving to me from the steps. Hey dad..it is. The homeowner wants to get rid of it. My wife sighs..it go flying up to meet the guy....he bought it about 5 years ago. He said it had a diferant engine in it. Hood don't close all the way. One tire in front half flat. Just stopped running couple weeks back. The gent says tell ya what....for 50 bucks you can have it. If no rain tomorrow I will get more pics...just took one and left. Kids were anxious to get back to Halloween stuff. What do you guys think. The metal looked ok. Deck looked super....can I find a motor..think it's worth a follow up? Let's hear advice.. will post more pictures maybe tomorrow. Ty

I placed an ad a few months back for a garden tractor disc and pretty much forgot about it until a gentleman contacted me last night and asked if I had found a disc and if not he had one at a very reasonable price. Then he informed me that it was for a Wheel Horse and I was speechless. Here's what I picked up this evening. It's in great condition but the first thing will be a complete tear down, clean up and paint. Then a call to Terry for decals.

Correct engine is a 6hp Techy. HH60. I have been looking for one of these tractors for a long time now. Thanks for finding it for me!

No, not worth the trouble. What's the address? That's the best 'trick or treat' you've probably had since you were 10 years old. Jim

Ditto! Can you believe it? Try as I might today, Fastenal wouldn't take my money. Their policy is, the receiving party pays the shipping fees upon receipt. My first transaction...is on it's way to Indiana.

Well, after two weekends of pulling the Cyclone Rake around, I am convinced that IF it makes it through leaf season, the transmission is coming out again. This time for a rebuild. I am getting a lot of groaning, whining, and lack of power and speed. No, not me, the X300. So, I just ordered a new pump, motor, and filter, and before I put Johnny away for the winter, the transmission is going to be rebuilt. Parts were only about $160.00, which when added to the cost of the tractor is still a good deal.

This is me with my "other" favorite hobby toy... a 1960 era early modified dirt track vintage race car at the Fabulous Lincoln Speedway near Abbottstown, PA. This is partly where my cruisnblue48 name came from... I also owned a blue PT Cruiser at one time and I was formerly a fastpitch and slowpitch softball umpire where the players affectionately called us "hey blue" because of the color of the umpire uniforms we wore.

I have a Saw Stop in my shop. A few yrs. ago one of the guys I worked with nearly lost four of his fingers.. I told him twice that he was running the wood thru way too fast and that he was getting WAY too close to the blade with his hand and fingers. What happened next was the probably the worst thing I've had to witness thus far in all of my 46 yrs. Four fingers all cut more than half way off. John had many yrs. of experience but he was having a bad day and it just got MUCH worse. He was out of work for 8 months and to this day he can barely move his fingers. His hand is always cold and he can barely hold onto things. he has since retired and he is only 57 yrs. old. A few weeks after his accident we bought the Saw Stop. If my memory is correct I believe it cost 6 grand. (Personally, I miss the old Delta) Anyone that intentionally puts their fingers into a Saw Stop is a MORON. I use the table saw on a daily basis,, I treat it like a regular saw, I don't rush anything when I'm using it no matter how much work they feel like dumping on me. There were three guys in my shop, now it's just me. Last week while I was in the middle of cutting a full sheet of plywood someone came up behind me and tapped me pretty hard on my shoulder to get my attention.. When I didn't stop what I was doing he did it again. REALLY? When I was finished I shut the saw off, turned around and before he said a word I calmly told him to get the hell out of my shop and that he is lucky I don't knock him out. I could care a less if he is a manager or not, ain't my boss... The big emergency? He needed an extension cord.

I have been researching this today. I was looking for something very cost effective without using the harder to clean sandpaper type or having to spend time with glue. Talked to Terry and several others as we are getting ready to restore quite a few tractors and attachments in the next few weeks, that should be fun. What I ordered will do 30 tractors. I just bought 2 rolls of this - http://www.tapebrothers.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=PRO17-BK6 It will cost $2.54 per tractor delivered, both steps done and it is self stick and waterproof.

WOW!!! Awesome deal!!! $50!! Well then Senior nice to meet you. And thank you for your long service. I was a quartermaster on the USS Providence. The tractor you have is typically referred to as a Blackhood. The Blackhood model is one of my favorites! I have a "81 C-105 that is a Blackhood. (In my signature)

The calendar is a free PDF download from the files/manuals section. (Unless you want one of the professionally done ones that squonk sets up... those cost.) As for knowing if your tractor is selected.... it's up to Martin. He's doing the calendar this year. It's usually just a surprise, and I've never heard of anyone who was disappointed.

For raised letters like those cast in the metal - or other - this little gizmo does a fantastic job and cheap too. An artist ink roller... Find a piece of cardboard, something like a cereal box - so it wont suck up the paint and smear/spray a slightly wet coat of your paint on it. Using the roller work the paint so its covering the entire surface, not too wet (sort of like painting a wall) then roll the paint over the raised letters -- gently, dont bear down too much, you want it on TOP of the letters, may take 2-3 runs to get good coverage. I was into rebuilding machinery - lathes milling machines, etc, and there was a lot of this type lettering on them and I would get so frustrated trying to get them looking good --- My lovely bride put me onto this roller. http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/4-hard-rubber-ink-brayer-453035/

Nice job on the leaves Lane. Very nice RJ and that Parker sweeper is a beauty! I pretty much live in the middle of the woods and the big draw back is....Leave's... I'm surprised that with all of the budget cuts these days that they are still picking up leave's curbside for you. Squonk makes sense. I have a neighbor who's tree's are directly across the street from my front yard. BIG RED oak tree's with lots of leaves on them. Well they are fall down right in my front yard and lots of them. Its a lot of work and time to drag them all the way to the woods behind my house and after a few yrs. of doing it I said the heck with this, ain't my leave's so they are going to keep getting blown right back where they came from! My 9hp Little Wonder walk behind blower does a wonderful job taking care of that! One day my neighbor saw me blowing his leave's back into his yard and approached me with some attitude wondering why I was blowing my leave's into his yard! I told him to look around and to look up.. Ain't no Red Oaks in my front yard. He wasn't happy then and he probably still isn't... For yrs. he never raked and got rid of leaves, he just watched them all fall or get blown into my yard! If the time comes to purchase my next house I'm going to be very careful about buying a place that is surrounded with tree's! I love the shade and I love tree's but there are lots of drawback's..

Or, when you drop something from the front of the engine, it always seems to end up on the back side of either front tire. How in the heck does it roll that far, then take a sharp left or right, to come to a complete stop wedged behind the front tire!
  35. 2 points
This is what I will be using plus the fancy weights I made.

I found a 310-8 with a good Magnum a few years back. $50!!! Sold the deck for a few hundred. Should've kept the motor! But dang that was one neglected tractor. Good luck with her.

We seem to have 2 differant comments. Is the original engine for this tractor the 5hp or 6hp tecumseh? Also,,,,,, who can post a few pictures of the correct engine. Our wheel horse manuals section its hard for me to judge looking at exploded view pictures. I scanned e / flea bay real quick. There are a couple, 2, not sure if they are correct. Just trying to do a little research before I go back for a second look to commit. Never hurts to investigate. thanks guys, your enthusiasm was over the top on this one,,,,,,,,,, me to......... just dont call me Gleno for Geno........lol
  38. 1 point
No no no. I meant the original type of engine that would have gone in it. (5 hp techumseh)

I run mine kinda on the low side 10psi gives a good ride if you are planning on hauling heavy loads you should use maximum tire pressure that's stated on the tire

I made my profile photo my old '69 Craftsman (sorry guys, but it has been in the family since it was new). I didn't want to use my new-to-me WH because it doesn't have a seat...yet. As for how long I plan to stick around, it kind of depends on how long I stick around, health being the dictator here. But, so far so good. I ordered new tubes all the way around yesterday. That rascal is a bear to move with flat tires. I may replace the front tires soon, but the rear tires may have to do until I find that pot of gold. I'm getting set up to disassemble the old steed. I'm going to pull the engine and clean it up on a stand. Then I'll put the tractor on jack stands and pull the wheels. Then I'll sit back and wonder what I'm doing.

Glenn, Per code we ran the calculations at 95 mph and basically open terrain. I can check the specifics but we needed to have the clips spaced every 5 feet apart in the middle of the roof and every 4.5 on the perimeter. I ended up going two clips up top spaced 2 feet apart and then every 4.

Because you're talking about a package that came into a retail store on a distribution truck.... I've worked in the back room in retail...where you don't read boxes, you open them.

Since we were talking about mats, I decided to go out and put the floor boards on the 416-H I am restoring. I had the mats and went to Lowes and bought some Locktight spray adhesive. Had to mask off the part that the mat did not cover but wasn't hard and worked great.
