Bob, Back in 1975 when I got out of x-ray school I worked midnights at St. E's in GC for a couple years as an x-ray tech. Then I worked as a tech at the hospitals in Belleville til the late 80's. That's why all my friends call me DOC. I moved away from the area in 1988 and have sold X-ray equipment for the past 25+ years. Cancer is not a death sentence today by any means. Treatments have greatly improved and its not unheard of to live many good years after diagnosis. My best advice is go with your gut, if you don't like what you hear, by all means get a second opinion. I do know one of the best treatments is a strong positive attitude. Like anything in life you will have good days and bad days. Fortunately with treatment regimes now days the good will out way the bad. Above all you have to keep an attitude of you can and will kick this thing. Keep the faith and may God bless you and yours!!! STAY POSITIVE!!!

Well as the title states, I have become a first time member to the super "c" club. Dad made a trip to pick up a new to him xi and I worked out a good deal, at least I thought it was for this C-195. I just brought it back to my place tonight. It needs a few little things and maybe some cosmetic work, but she will be a fine worker! Here it is at home. Need to put the pins back in to the 3-point arms.

I bought my mowing deck for 25 bucks but it had serious rust damage. I started patching it last week. I haven't welded in probably a decade. Here's before and after pics of the first patch. What do you guys think?

I got the handlebars and wheels painted then sent the wheels to "Rideable Bicycle Replicas" in California to have the solid tires installed. These tires are cut to length, the rubber has a hole in it that a wire is inserted into. It's then installed, the rubber is pulled back and the wire is either twisted tight or pulled tight and brazed to hold the tire on. It took a lot of searching to find someone to do this, I'm glad I had this done by someone that knows what he's doing rather than try it myself.

you guys are funny asking if they are worthy!!!!! ALL of the tractors that everyone has posted is worthy of being in the Redsquare calendar. one reason why i want to do two different ones this year is so some of you guys with the older unrestored, workers, abandoned and rusty, barn dusty ones have just as much chance as the very nice restored ones. hey, i have a few shiny ones myself, but i will go down the garage and sit and stare at the original, surface rusted ones as well. i think they actually have more character!!!!! the deciding factor is going to be more about the creativity with the person behind the camera rather than the tractor itself being 'good enough'......

They're all calender worthy... never seen a that wasn't.

I BOUGHT THIS TONIGHT FOR $100 AND 2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE. 16HP KOHLER AND IT GOT REPLACEMENT SHORTBLOCK IN 1993. NO MOWER DECK AND BAD PAINT. STARTS RIGHT UP AND RUNS GOOD,NICE SEAT, REAR AXLE PLOW/TILLER ATTACHMENT AND FRONT MULE. THIS TRACTOR WILL BE SOLD ONCE I TAKE WHAT I NEED. JUST ANOTHER PROJECT. BOWTIE IN CENTRAL OHIO

I was originally going to replace just one, but I'm really getting too old to jerk with this stuff, so they're all getting replaced. The rod bearing looked NEW, I've never seen one in such nice condition. I think that it's going to last a long time with 6 new pistons.

Mine is broken also...Check your air cleaner during your annual maintenance.

You guys are what I am going to call "Big Ten Skidish" ...last week was a home team week...this week is another home team week...it should be Iowa, Penn St., Rutgers, Michigan, Nebraska, and Ohio St. That is not going to happen !!! My horses are still facing west, the smoke is the smell of fall leaves...I love that smell, and the Rock & Rye is pointing me in a direction that I just can not deny...here is my picks... ...and it is going to take some of these to make these picks this week. For now here's One that might be okay, and one that I'm sure isn't but I'm putting it up anyway because, well I miss her terribly and this picture will be going in the Shop when it's done ... my Mom on the B80, when we still lived in town... always supported my love of history, and all things WH ... right there along side helping and encouraging. I have decided to do the calendar this year. i have big shoes to fill looking through the past years efforts by Justin and others before him. what i need from you guys is pics of your horses as candidates to use for this year coming up. i want to see some more of the 'barn find' pics and the 'as found' ones i see on the forum from time to time. there have also been some great rebuilds and restores done in the past year as well. I've been thinking it might be nice to do two entirely different calendars this year. i don't want to make any more work for Mike (squonk) here on the forum with the ordering process, but i would be more than happy to produce two versions of the calendar if it is possible to keep it easy for all concerned regarding the printing etc. you guys on the forum would be the deciding factor here as far as making it easy to work out who wants which calendar. maybe some sort of ordering could be done in the forum store? is this even possible? just throwing out the idea here on the two different calendars, like i said i don't have a problem producing two different pdf files of 'old' and 'new'. regardless of whether we end up with one or two calendars, i need you guys to post up your pics here, the higher resolution shots, clear and easy to see are going to make it easier for me, i have limited editing skills and i want to make the final product as nice and professional looking as can be. the requirements are really no different as in past years. im excited to be involved in doing the calendar this year and depending on how things go, would consider doing it for the next few years. don't be reluctant to post up your tractor because you think its not good enough to be considered this year, you might just be surprised to see that a nice one might just take a back seat to a dusty barn find. we will give this 3 weeks, cut off would be 17th November. so don't put it off and risk missing out.....

I need to get the will up to do stuff like that. Nice tractor ! But every time I get one , I get a plan for it and then it stays around because I can never get the nerve together to tear it apart. Instead , I end of fixing and stashing it away like a chipmunk storing nuts for the winter.

He will get it done...even if I have to go pay him a visit and stand there with a cattle prod while he works on it ... HAHA Glad to see you're alive and busy ... hope you got the shop workable by this morning!

Any of the XI series . Being it's three cyl it will be hard to put in a C series. It hangs way way out if you mount it so you can run a belt unless you use a 90 to turn it. XI's are already setup to put the engine in correctly

Consider an "enclosed Cargo Trailer". Usually, if it is on wheels and licensed, it's a go most places. They come in all sizes, are reasonably low and can be moved/driven around the block once-a-year. Used 'rough' ones sell fairly low, especially if they have been damaged or in an accident (just may not go 30-40 mph safely). Good Luck, but those laws were usually made with good & safe intentions. Talk with some friendly builders or lumber sales managers, they may suggest alternative ways. Maryland & the colonies are tougher than here. Good Luck, (Michigan)

All years are basically the same 84 (last year made) hyd levers were moved up on the fenders earlier ones were behind your leg and could be a pain to reach

Man, sorry to hear that! I'm originally from Chicago and up there is the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center of Loyola University Medical Center. My ex-mother-in-law was treated for breast cancer there and was successful. It was actually used as her second opinion and was less intrusive. There is Hines VA Hospital next door as well.

Are there any brass gears and or other parts in the older 8-Speeds? With a cast-iron case, I don't know what yellow metals would be in the transmissions that would call for yellow metal safe gear oils. I just throw 80-90w gear oil in mine every decade as long as the oil looks OK in them.

I'm working on pulling stumps and trees with 4 blocks and a cable so the force exerted is 5 times what the tractor will pull. That wasn't quite enough so added 2 more blocks after the 1st set making 15 times what the tractor will pull which is scary. Have decided to find out what I'm working with. Have a hydraulic cylinder that will hook to the tractor and the cable will hook to the cylinder rod. Will almost fill the cylinder rod end with oil and add a pressure gauge to that end. The other end will get a breather filter. That way I can use the pressure created to calculate what I dealing with. Can pull a hard maple tree by tying on a foot up for every inch of diameter at the stump. 10in being the largest so far. Garry

My money is on the linkage and the small braided cable that's lifting that heavy plow having stretched. If the cylinder is fully actuating, then it isn't the cylinder. If it wasn't fully closing them yeah I'd suspect a Hydro system issue. Check the simple things first before you year into the lift cylinder...
