Well the tractor aint much to look at, I figured I'd run the engine mounted tank out of fuel before pulling it and getting the hood back over the new K181T. but we were running the disc this weekend and a camera was handy... memories I hope my girls don't soon forget

What am I thinking? If a picture is worth a thousand words then a video of Scott's Horse Rescue must be worth a MIL- MIL FIVE!

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures, Everyone wants pictures! I think my camera is still frozen. Lets take a quick look to see if there were any ROCKWELL moments? Yes here is one I have found. This would be a special moment I caught Scott, with his daughter and a friend walking all the way back to the barn from the middle of the field after the drive pulley decided to exit his 1045! Sorry Scott, didn't think you would post this one.

The garden was pretty much done for the year, so with rain in the forecast I decided to till up the garden and prep it for winter. I have a real nice Troy-Built Tiller and I got one round on the outside of the garden and the belt went bad. So, my Dad brought over a heavy 1960's front-tine tiller. Wow, that beast made me really appreciate my Troy-Built. I ended up with two blisters cause is shook and bounced so much and it took about 4x longer that it normally does. Made two passes to get everything tilled under. Then applied a product called Micro-Essentials SZ (MESZ) by broadcast spreader and took one more pass on the tiller to get it under. I am going to pick up some cereal rye tomorrow to put down for a cover crop and to help increase organic matter when I till it back under in the spring. As you can see.....had to finish under the spot light Thad (Ohio)

Some of you may have been following my latest 4x4, inspired by Bob Rock and a few others. It's taken a while, but today I finally fastened the tin work on and borrowed my sons C-121 hood - (sorry Ewan), its still also still 4x2 for the pics and video - I needed the tin work in place before I finished the idler and 4WD select/difflock. Seat is almost the right height, just the housing to tidy up and springs to add. and the obligatory video

I've spent the last weeks of summer getting this little darling ready to go. I got it off a JD from a scrapyard in Minnesota for $350. 400 pounds of solid steel, tempered glass windows, WIper, defroster fan. Mice ate the wiring, so I had to rewire, and added front floodlights. The original cowling around the hood didn't fit due to the muffler. I made a new one out of Lexan, and am waiting on molding from McMaster-Carr rated to 450 degrees. I don't think the exhaust will melt that, but we will see. Mounting was a PIA, but I was able to modify the front mounts by reinforcing the footrests. Mounted to the frame, there was too much sway. Moving the mounts farther apart solved that problem. The rear sits on the seatpan for sway control, but most of the weight is in the rear hitch. I am doing the best I can sealing out the weather, and the vinyl matting over the footrests will solve most of the problems when fully installed.

Hi all I've mowed for years with a 414-8 and now have picked up a 653 down the road that I want to restore and make like new again, overall the shape is excellent and everything is there but the gascolater which is an easy replace. I'm working on a frame off with an 59 economy jim dandy so as soon as it's done this new Beauty will be next

Wow, wow, wow! What a great day we had yesterday!!! I will add more throughout the week as I am still trying to recover from all of the fun! I will say it again, you folks are nuts! So many die hards driving from all over the Midwest to spend the day with us in less than ideal conditions. You are all amazing and I greatly appreciate your friendships! We are proud to announce that as a group we raised $1233 for St. Baldrick's this year. That puts our total over 5 grand in the past 4 years! You are all to be commended for your support and dedication! The raffle prizes/donations were absolutely amazing. What a great lesson in teamwork, compassion, and love! A huge thank you to Michael Biser (racinfool40) and Shana for all of your help the day before. You guys rock! Here are a few photos from RedSquare member Michael D Conley. I will work on getting more up this week! He captured all of the fun and he is amazing at capturing the festivities. Thank you!

When I was gardening up north I would plant buckwheat in any area where the crops were done. If there was still enough time before frost it would rapidly grow to about 2' high and was dense. It looked like it would be a tangled mess in the tiller tines but it wasn't. The stalks are very tender and till in great providing a lot of goodies to the soil. In the spring before I planted I would broadcast buckwheat over the entire plot. It usually wouldn't have time to reach maturity before I tilled it in to plant the crops.

Seed the garden with cereal rye spread out a little straw....but I probably should have bought two bales as I just run out before finishing. Thad (Ohio)

This 1975 Simplicity 7013H will be rejoining the stable. I saw it on Craigslist and HAD to have it back. The seller is also doing the hauling for $25 more than what I sold it to him for. You can't beat that! This time I've picked up a snow blade and snowblower.

Picked up this Hardi 30 gallon sprayer at an auction today. Has a spray gun and fold out booms. Going to use it to apply liquid fertilizer in the garden next year. Thad (Ohio)

He says no after its hot and he had replaced module and coil already. Must be frustrating for him. I know it's frustrating me. Not much left to replace. That's why I would cut it back down to the basics. Good ground to the motor. New plugs and plug wires. Positive wire from the battery to the coil and start trouble shooting. This has got to be something dumb....

    RJ?

Well I went to take a peek tonight and it was not a 1952 as the gentleman had thought. It was a 1960 Suburban 400. It was however all original and complete with the original K-90 on it and a functioning mower deck. It was a very, very nice original, however I think the nice man wants a little more than I was willing to pay, especially since I have 6 or 7 60-61 Suburbans. I did make him an offer of $500.00 at which he said no way he would sell it for that and I don't blame him. I believe I will be dealing with him on a nice Suburban hood, fenders and tool box and possibly two Techy 6 h.p. motors with electric start, complete. Possibly some other items. Well worth the visit. I learned along time ago that it pays to investigate. Sorry to disappoint, but I did not find some mystical rare pond unit we all was hoping for. Denny

Is that a shorty? You lucky dog. I'm thinkin I want to put together a short frame worker to take to work so I can be stylin and profilin when every one else has to shovel!

You want an 8 speed that has the brake shaft that is on the cluster gear shaft. The hole closest to the front of the tranns. If it is back towards the axle, it is a 6 speed and you will have to mess with the linkage for the brake. All of the 8 speeds that have the brake shaft toward the front (cluster gear shaft) will bolt right on. Why are you not fixing the one you have...may be cheaper...don't throw the old one out. If it is just a bearing and (I would replace all the seals)...you might be talking around $20 to $30 and the time it takes to do what you are going to do anyway...R & R a trans. I do not know what you have in side that trans...rust, bad gears, etc. But if all you have is a bad bearing...fairly easy to fix. Just sayin'...

Nice Horse and at an excellent price too! WHA (Wheel Horse Addiction) gets worse or better. Depends on how you feel 'bout it. Makes the forum members jump for joy, company!

Thanks Ditto, there's so much stuff to see in the US! Doesn't feel it, there's plenty of potential for weight at the back Fed up of putting the wheels on and off, so running on two per for the pics That'll take some time to build them all, but number three is on the drawing board Thanks!

You will have to remove and split the transmission to fix it. Sorry
  42. 1 point
Absolutely yes, especially if the splice is within an inch or so of a metal chassis part. the 30,000 volts from the inner lead of the cable can easily jump thru a superglue or heatshrink tubing repair. spritz water (with one drop of dishwashing liquid) onto the ignition system if the miss gets worse, you have found a problem.

can't see any opinion offered here to be better than the one you have already voiced. what we think does not change what exists. opinions on longevity would be blind guess-timates but I wouldn't plan on blowing snow with it this winter! pop off the head, wiggle the piston then check for crankshaft rotation without piston movement. that would be the beginning of an educated guess

So, I uploaded them. Here are the videos that I took while we were here. You will be able to tell that they are slightly sped up, except for one, which I took in the slow motion feature on my phone, just because I thought the moving dirt with the backhoe might look cool!
