10 pointsCaught this little, tri powered, custom Suburban 400 cruising around the show field today at the Kent show. Nice young man by the name of Ethan, said it was originally his brothers long term restoration project that languished a few years before he got it. Ethan wasted no time shoe horning three Briggs under the hood, which starts on one engine, then engage the clutch to bring the other two on line. Little guy sounds like a mini top fuel funny car sitting there at idle. I asked him if he's done any mowing with it...he replied, yeah, some...really fast mowing. I told him about us here on RedSquare...so hopefully he'll be joing us here soon...also mentioned, he's built a rotary engined Raider that eats gobs of gas.

4 pointsThat's pretty much where we stand currently. With the changes in my life, the loss of mom, a Job loss, a business Loss ... a failed Sale & move ... things have just stood still. Now that things are turning around, It's time to finish it out. Under both sides of the arch will be Upper Cabinets, with Lowers and a butcher block counter top, Steel in the middle directly under the arch with a place to sit and work on smaller projects. Need to pickup the lights that I plan to use before I can finish the drywall. Looking forward to getting it done though! Will do WH colors on the walls, Red/Linen Beige w/ a black stripe seperating the two Some WH memorabilia here and there as well as some other keepsakes from different automotive and trucking backgrounds ...

3 pointsI'm always enthralled to look through the pictures that everybody posts as they work on, or restore, or modify their horses. Look at not just the horses and the ideas, but also the shop space it's being done in. I've worked outside, I've worked in borrowed space, Home made space, and now finally ... Since I moved in 2010 ... I have my own shop. Thought that I would share with you all, my space ... Now it's still under construction ... I have more drywall, more Lighting, and more wiring to do. I'm also planning to add to the shop this spring, going 15 feet out the side, to provide places to Store, to do the really nasty tear downs, as well as a media blasting Room and maybe a clean Room for painting small parts? Not sure yet. Anyway Onto Photos!

3 pointsI thought my C-175 was a big tractor, but dog gone this C-195 is a monster of one. Love it! Mowed for a while with it today and was pretty sweet, been better if it was a 5' deck instead of 4'. It does have a problem with the steering. Other than being a bear (2 handed) to turn, it will make a pop noise if you're not rolling much at all. Not sure what is popping but thinking its at the gear at end of steering shaft skipping a tooth.

3 pointsTHANKS GENO. IT HAS BEEN FUN, I REALLY ENJOY RESTORING OLD EQUIPMENT. HERE IS A FEW MORE PICTURES OF THE HOOD. 3 THE PAINT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE. THE MORE I SANDED THE WORSE IT GOT. I ENDED UP HAVING TO USE PAINT REMOVER. THE HOOD WAS NOT PERFECT IT HAD ALOT OF PITS FROM THE RUST. I REALLY DID NOT WANT TO USE BODY FILLER, SO I WILL HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT. I WILL DO MY OWN DECALS. I KNOW THAT YOU CAN BUY THEM PRETTY CHEAP BUT THIS IS A BARGIN BUILD.

3 pointsHe was starting a business a few years ago grilling and smoking meats for hire...disappeared from RS for a time and has gradually came back. Glad he did.

3 pointsI work my 416-8 when ever I can, if it ever kicks the bucket, I will spend the coin on a rebuild. Why? Because I think it's worth it. Power, the sound of an angry 216p pushing thousands of pounds of snow, mowing grass like a combine harvesting wheat.... Get the picture? Proper maintenance is the key.... On a side note, they do like to drink the fuel. Mowing the rental in the past with the 416-8 compared to the 310-8 I have over there now is a big difference, I can almost get 3 mows on one tank on the 310 to the 1.5 on the 416. Stick with the Onan... Give it a go and work it!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

3 pointsAs usual, I will be putting a B-100 with a 48" blade into service this winter.

2 pointsHad a great time today with a few of my WH peeps in attendance at the CAMA show in Kent, Ct. today. SALTYWRIGHT(Russ), Stevebo&Brennen, Fireman(Jeff), Coadster32(Chris&family), Stratostar250(Tom&Dad) Really is hard to beat the friendly camaraderie, beautiful weather, doing some hot laps on your , and the awesome venue that the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association provides...sure to make all your buddies smile.

2 pointsYou could cut the short end of the allen wrench down to say 1/4 inch... so it fits in the limited space you've got to work with there...allen just fits into the end of that screw Glenn. Screw looks pretty clean, and shouldn't take much effort to get it out.

2 pointsThanks! try to keep it reasonably priced ... In the years that I've done this, I only had one person come back with a complaint, and that was because he wanted a second sandwhich for free...and if he'd asked i'd have given him one for free ...

2 pointsStill do BBQ now and again ... made a fair bit of money doing it over the years, with the loss of mom though, half my help force went away, and the last year and a half I was so focused on taking care of her that I only worked and came home to spend the time with her that could ... This coming year though I plan to get out and do a fair or two ... in fact I did some pulled pork today for dinner tonight and lunch a day or two this week.

2 pointsCraig: Seeing this Tri-Powered 400 reminded me of an old photo I took a couple years ago. This is a Wheel Horse project tractor I saw at Winamac, Indiana -"power from the Past Show several years ago. This tractor had FIVE new Briggs and Stratton Motors on the expanded frame and a very big Kill Switch on the Dash! It was labeled the "Super Horse" Pulling Tractor !

2 pointsThe days of Tyrone Wheatley are LONG GONE!!!!!! I sure do miss those days.... Duke, I hope they do get someone in that truly appreciates the history of that team! Rob
-
2 pointsYou can get away with running it for awhile like that , but it'll continue to get worse. Depending on how many hours are on it, planning a rebuild for the down months might be a good idea... but I don't think you'd have any issue running it for another year or maybe longer...just keep a eye on things.

2 pointsThey were talking about a NEW ALL TIME RECORD for Michigan. It is the 1st. time ever that they have lost 3 games in September!!! I swear...the axis of the Earth is about to shift and the polarity of the polar caps is going to switch....and Illinois and Michigan do not meet this year. It is just not fair.

2 pointsI agree with john , the GT14 is an awesome tractor , wheelhorse designed the tractor like a tank. Here in UK they are very rare & I only know of around 6 , but rumour has it that on 50 were imported to UK . Here are a few pics that a took yesterday of mine. My good lady even likes to have a go every now & again .

2 pointsIt was my Grandfathers,,,, he bought it in May of '74, I have the original receipt! He was meticulous about its care, just like his WH that I have now, and everything else he owned. He ran it for his small driveway (~20 x 50) for about 30 yrs,, then it sat in his garage most of the time for a couple years before I took it to my parents.... it spent the next few years doing my dads 180' driveway, and last winter was our (my wife and I) first winter in our home... it worked well as always through all the storms on my driveway (~100' x 18') It is a B&S 8 hp, and it runs well! They really don't make em like this anymore! -T.J.

2 pointsSomething here should work. Can't wait to see what that little Sears iron 2 wheeler will do. The new 520 w/ heated cab will be my go to machine on cold days. The Yammy 4wheeler is for clean up on warm days. The C-125 is the back up blower. Of course the two long handles always work.

2 pointsIt's funny because when AMC and Munn owned Wheelhorse, nobody called them AMC/Wheelhorse or Munn/Wheelhorse. Here is how I see it...........If it has the Wheelhorse brand on the tractor, it's a Wheelhorse, period. If it's a continuation of a WH model even if it doesn't say Wheelhorse on it, it's still a Wheelhorse. None of my tractors built during the Toro age are referred as Toro's. They aren't. They are true Wheelhorses or Toro/Wheelhorse if you wish. . To Cocky-Rocky.............If it wasn't for Toro and their marketing and management at the time, we wouldn't have many tractors to use or collect. They could have shut the line down and cranked out cheap imitations of both the garden tractor and lawn tractor lines calling them anything they wanted! But they didn't! They manufactured what were in essence, true over-built, over-engineered, heavy Wheelhorse tractors. The garden tractor line accepted the same WH implements as far back as the late 1960's for 16 more years ending in 2001 in one form or another and all this during a shift in society for cheaper, throw away when they wear out equipment. They even created what many consider bigger, better versions of the WH designs with the Xi Garden Tractors until 2005. They even kept the parts for the older tractors and those they continued to manufacture available for a long time. Just imagine if if MTD had bought them out. I owned a 1975 HD Sportster that I traded even up for my 1980's C-175 with a deck and a plow. As you said, AMF kept HD afloat but destroyed their reputation for quality. Toro kept WH going and did it without much sacrifice on quality at all. My 310-8, 416-8 and 520-H are Wheelhorses. Your 267H was designed by Toro but influenced by Wheelhorse. Look at that tractor and how heavy it is built verses what you would buy now for a similar lawn tractor. You have every right to call it a Wheelhorse. Because it is.

1 pointWell, I guess regardless of which company actually owned the brand at the time I purchased it, the important thing is MADE IN USA!!! For the record, I also have an '81 HD XLH. That scooter was made at a time when AMF owned Harley, and build quality went waaaaaaaay south. But AMF kept Harley afloat when the company might've gone out of biz. Wish I could say all's well that ends well, but in WH's case, maybe not.
