5 pointsSince i'm on vacation for the next two weeks I figure I'd better clean out the shop and garage. The shop was a disaster from the rush to get the C-160 done for the show. Seeing as my tractors live in my work shop they had to be the first things out before I could start. After having well over 60 different Wheel Horse/Pond tractors over the last 9 years I am down to just three. One from each of what I feel were the 3 best decades for the company. The 50's, 60's and 70's. And yes for those with the keen eyes that is a 61' NOS hood on my 58' RJ. The RJ's original hood is actually going to the local Tech school this year so they can fix the issues with the metal and will be placed back on the tractor when complete. I also picked up a K90 at this years show and plan on putting this tractor back to the way it left the factory. The 50's The 60's The 70's Also had out my other two toys because they needed to come out of the shop too. Not Wheel Horses but cool none the less!

5 pointswith all these 416Hs coming out of the woodwork, I'm starting to hear voices from the corner of my garage where my 92 416H sits covered up. the voices are telling me its time to do a hydro, whats up with that?

4 pointsPics will be coming this week. Don't worry. Today I finally found the elusive "M16 Magnum Powered" Wheel Horse 416-8. I have been looking for one of these for several years now. My other 416-8 is "K" powered. I know basically the K's and the M's are the same powerplant but I really really wanted a Magnum. This one came with a 42" SD deck, trailer hitch, tiller bracket, and lift system for a tiller or plow. There are 748 hours showing on a working hour meter. Also has a new battery. It starts right up and runs good hot or cold. I am feeling very good tonight about this purchase. The seat has seen much better days (but then again so have I). Next I bought a non running 1995 312 Hydro. Why its not running I could not tell you. Its all together except for the wiring harness. The wiring harness has been hacked on by someone who had no idea what they were doing. There are a little over 900 hours showing on the meter. I'm looking forward to seeing if the engine will run. I would not think there is a problem with the hydro as the only thing someone was working on was the wiring. I'll give an update on that one later. I know, I know you guys want pics. Well first I have to go back to the previous owner's house tomorrow and pick up the 312. Its bought and paid for but my trailer will only haul one at a time. I'll take some pics and post them first of the week. But for now this is what I have to report. I will be changing the engine oil in the 416 tomorrow. Getting rid of the whatever oil and giving it some good oid Lubrication Engineers 30w.

2 pointsEveryone is aware of the bad rap Techys fuel delivery systems have... so, just wanted to give everybody a heads up to the brand new, $27 (gotta be)off shore manufactured carbs now being offered on Ebay. I took a chance, popped for one and I gotta say how great my little HH-60 is running now. These carbs are well made, and fully adjustable too, but no need, that thing purred like a kitten straight out of the box. Plus, they got them priced so cheap now...it's not even worth messing around rebuilding, then tuning one anymore. Seems there may be no excuse for a poorly running Techy with carb issues anymore.

2 pointsYes the new barn is finished. Should have built it bigger !!! LOL Mike I'm right there with you regarding Kohler Magnum powered anythings! OK, time for the latest report. Arrived at the sellers house to find he had the 312 sitting in the circle drive waiting on me to get there. We pushed it up on the trailer and away I went....... home, but not without stopping at the local Waffle House for some waffles, eggs, bacon, toast, grits (yes I said grits), and coffee. It takes alot of food to successfully transport Wheel Horses around North Carolina. By the time I got home it was already 94 degrees. I rolled the 312 in the shop. I'm waiting for a cooler day to work on it. Then I run the 416 until the engine was at operating tempreture, and drained out all the old engine oil. Now the Kohler Magnum is happy with almost 3 quarts of LE 30w in it. The PO had just changed the transmission oil. It is full right up to the mark, the shifter boot is intact so no need to do anything there. All the lights work including the tail lights. Checked the charging system. There is a strong 13.95vdc going to the battery. All good there too! Wish I could tell you I did all this great and wonderful stuff to the 312 but again, thats a cooler day project. Instead I had to get on the big red tractor and work a bunch of crushed stone into the new driveway I've built to now have a circle drive. That was just too much work to do with a Wheel Horse. I needed power steering and diesel power for that project. So anyway guys, that was my day. Starting another week of overtime tomorrow. Been working overtime all Summer. Thats why I have not been here very much since the big show. Oh yeah, almost forgot, yes I took some pics! I'll post them tomorrow.

2 pointsokay little background first, all summer me and my son have been hearing all summer long that cub cadets are just better. We would just smile and say we have a thing for our horses plain and simple. Well the county fair always hold tractor pulls, so we thought well lets give it a shot. Me and my son went out grabed the b-80 threw some weight on her and met the neighbors at the fair for my boys first pull, well at the weigh in turned out I was about 100lbs shy and my tires well regular old ags, nothing special. The cub was up first and me n my boy watched her go we looked at each other and said "crap were in WAY over our heads" Next up was the boy , so I told him just give her all shes got and we shall see. That darned thing chugged down the tract as if out for a sunday drive, listning to the loud speaker we hear it WE beat the cub by 3 feet and place 3rd in his class at 165FT. My boys first trophy! We can now spend the rest of summer with our horses, not hearing about our belt drive "its been really quiet" I know this probably should be in pullers, but thought everyone would get a kick out of it "weve all had the cub horse debate" Thing is equal power, both twelves just us with a 100 less pounds , a LOT less money into it "nothing" and she brougt him home a trophy. I told my boy dont say anything to them about it just say good job, put the trophy up and we will let it go, enough has been said.

2 pointsI see some listed on Ebay as being sold directly coming out of China, selling for $26 now. Looks like the same carb I bought was sold by outdoorpowerdeals.com, I think I paid $28 and change, free shipping. The company is located in Kansas, United States, in the box contained a flyer stating... 100% satisfaction guaranteed, money back if not satisfied for any reason, worth the couple extra bucks to me. If you go to their sellers page, they have listed a bunch for other engines too, nicely priced as well.

1 pointTook a run to Rhode Island. What a home run. Shape is as near new as it gets. Here's some pics. Sorry didn't clean it.

1 pointWell today is the day I started the restoration of my 416H. All sheet metal is off as is then wiring harness. I had removed the engine last week to de-carbon it and set the valves. Wire harness came out easily Tried to get the steering wheel off. Not have much luck with this. Will go to Harbor Freight tomorrow and get a larger puller. This one fits a little tight. The roll pin did come out easy for a change. I hope I don't have to cut the steering wheel off like I did once before. This wheel is in great shape. Took it outside for a power wash. Will do it again after I get the rest apart.

1 pointWe just got in our new custom trailer yesterday that we are going to turn into a "Wheel Horse Hauler". This is going to be the small one, 6'4" x 12' dovetail with gate. Next spring we'll be doing a larger double axle one. It's already going to pick up 3 more tractors, 2 blowers, a cab, and other things tomorrow so we don't have time to do it all at once. We have already painted the hubs and wheels but that's all. We still have to paint the trailer red and stain the floor Ivory for starters, then the fun begins. More Wheel Horse logos than you have ever seen. I have a friend named Scot that has a Computerized plasma cutter so I called him this morning. He made me the 2 prototypes and had them here by lunch, pics are below. He is making 1/4" steel or stainless or who knows what yet horse heads and written logos for it. They will be recessed into the bed and be about 45" wide x 45" long. He is also doing the older italic Wheel Horse written emblem for below the head (pic is below) but it will be the text only, not the horse head. The smaller ones on here will be on the drop gate facing each other when done with the written logo in between. There's a lot more but you will see it as it is done. There is a poll to which horse head logo you guys think will look best. I had him cut each piece of the logo separate for easy painting and touch up. Each piece can be painted separately then screwed or Velcro attached into its recess. They can also be removed for repainting without taping. I'm gonna use this thing so it will get scratched up I'm sure. He just left here after making a couple of prototypes and said I could put a link to his website on here, there is nothing he can not do. It's all kinda fast but I hope to have him here as soon as next week as a supporter and vendor if the leadership here allows. Here is what he can do - http://www.phoenixcreativemetal.com/ Look through the gallery and you will be amazed. If you guys have any ideas for this please let me know! The construction will start next week.

1 pointWell I was able to get the 416 to the house and started on the rest today. This one is going to be my Dad's new tractor. Its a 1996 416-H. Its already got its issues. I can't get it to even try to start, leaks oil like a sieve from the drain pipe. dirty as a mother. It looks like every bird in a 100 mile radius sat on it at some point over the last couple years in the barn. I see some wiring issues already. Wires missing from the hour meter and one I dont know where it goes... Got a start on replacing the Molex connector with male/female insulated sta-kons today once I couldn't get it to fire. Battery has on the charger for a couple hours and is holding 13.8 volts. We'll see how long it holds out. Got some different ideas on this one. Im going to have custom decals done that say 50th Anniversary Special Edition in the same script as the 60th anniversary ones on the 2007 315 Classic GT. Probably a big one on the hood only and maybe smaller on the center, rear fender pan. LED lights for the back, possibly for the front. Going to remove the factory manual PTO and see if I can adapt one of the electric clutches I have to the Onan. Some odds n ends here and there. Lil guy is helping me on this one. Its also going to be the first tractor I do base coat/clear coat with a spray gun instead of bombs. I hope it comes out better..... It should truly be unique for my Dad. His 12 auto is just about ready to be retired, She's almost dead..... And so it begins.....

1 pointHello everyone. My name is Josh, I'm from Kentucky and I just bought my first wheel horse. I plan on going through it this winter and because this is my first tractor build, I will probably post a ton of questions. i purchased a Raider 14 from Rising Sun Indiana. This is the first time since it was made that it has ever left Rising Sun. The original dealer sticker is still on the hood. Thanks in advance for al the help I am about to recieve.

1 pointWell in my opinion you missed a really good tractor. Very clean except for the wiring which is a mess. I got lucky and found a complete wiring harness including a complete set of gages and the dash at what I consider a good price. .
-
1 pointA Kohler sounds better?? Did you have ear muffs on? Nothing sounds better than an Onan when it's right. Of course I've only had two Onan 16's since I' ve always been partial to the 20"s.

1 pointThere are 4 Tecky's here at the "Plaza" 3 of them are 2 cycle jobs. 1 in a tiller I bought with gas so stale it would evaporate the alcohol out of a bottle of Old Grandad but it ran on it! Another in a 72 Sno Pup. the other one in a newer Toro blower. The only 4 cycle here is a 5.5 HPSnow King on a MTD blower that looks like it layed in the canal for a few years but runs great

1 pointThat 3rd set look like they came off a Walk BEE Hind. I have a set very similar to them from a Simplicity walker. They work well on the roundhoods with 6 x 12 wheels.

1 pointUsed to be an Alison engine puller out of Kenton Ohio At one time ranked 4 in the country called diggin dozen Run by the rose family in the early 70s if I recall well. They pulled for a few years until a big tire blew up At a pull in Florida and killed one of their men That ended their pulling. I used to do a lot of work for them. The old machinist from Texas now. 1 pointCheck with Kelly ( a vender here on Red Square ) He might have a good used muffler. He is really good to deal with and honest as they come. You could always put a stack muffler on it also. Hope this helps.
