okay little background first, all summer me and my son have been hearing all summer long that cub cadets are just better. We would just smile and say we have a thing for our horses plain and simple. Well the county fair always hold tractor pulls, so we thought well lets give it a shot. Me and my son went out grabed the b-80 threw some weight on her and met the neighbors at the fair for my boys first pull, well at the weigh in turned out I was about 100lbs shy and my tires well regular old ags, nothing special. The cub was up first and me n my boy watched her go we looked at each other and said "crap were in WAY over our heads" Next up was the boy , so I told him just give her all shes got and we shall see. That darned thing chugged down the tract as if out for a sunday drive, listning to the loud speaker we hear it WE beat the cub by 3 feet and place 3rd in his class at 165FT. My boys first trophy! We can now spend the rest of summer with our horses, not hearing about our belt drive "its been really quiet" I know this probably should be in pullers, but thought everyone would get a kick out of it "weve all had the cub horse debate" Thing is equal power, both twelves just us with a 100 less pounds , a LOT less money into it "nothing" and she brougt him home a trophy. I told my boy dont say anything to them about it just say good job, put the trophy up and we will let it go, enough has been said.

Well, found round hood, finally. It's supposed to be a 1960 Suburban and as far as I can tell that appears to be the case, no numbers I can find. It looks pretty good but needs to be completely restored except for the engine. The tranny leaks from both axles as does the brake shaft, paint is gas soluble, probably Krylon, clutch is completely inoperable but repairable, loose steering, cable linkages missing, left foot rest missing, rear tires are shot... etc.. Lots of work ahead but thought this would be a great winter project. Here are a few pics for your viewing pleasure, BTW, the wife tells me I'm on "lock down"

My husband passed away 4 years ago and I have a Wheel Horse in the garage. Problem is I know nothing about it. It does have a snow plow attachment. I hate seeing it just sit there. I was wondering if anyone could give my some information on it if I post pictures. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in Indiana. Thanks so much...Kim

I don't have a Wrangler, I've got a "real" Jeep, a '79 CJ-5! To be a real Jeep, it must have round headlights and leaf springs C-85

Ive got a 12 inch and an 8 inch moldboard plow. Had a 10 inch and sold it. The 12 inch plow - by far (for me) gives the best results. However it is HEAVY and is a hard pull. I now use it with my 520H with rear weights and ag tires. The foot control kit from Matt and the hydro steering makes for a nice plow tractor. The 12 inch clevis hitch Brinly plows are hard to find. If you think you might get a larger Wheelhorse, I'd buy it while I could. Here is a pic of some plowing with the 12 inch moldboard last Spring

You guys are terrible. When a person becomes addicted you are supposed to encourage them to stay them away from temptation. You remember the part that says "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

K guys its time to order tires for the 416 Im building my Dad. I would like to go taller but not necessarily wider as I would need to do 520 wheels then. How big can I go in the front and back without hitting the fender or rubbing the 48" mower deck when turning? The reason Im going bigger is my Dad likes his grass high and even cutting with the deck up with the factory tires I only used to get 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 inches with this tractor/mower combo. I think the hydraulic lift has something to do with that. His lawn is religiously cut at 4 or 4 1/4 in the summer. Thanks for any suggestions...oh and also it will be turfs all around no ags or tri ribs for him

Pictures can be deceiving but you still have a great little tractor to work with. The heart is beating good so that's a big plus. The tranny seals are easy but there are things you'll want to check in the process. You won't lack for any help you need from the folks on this site.

Well I've done a little more to the 56'. I am looking for a fuel tank for an rj. Pulled the plug to check for spark and everything is good. Talked with Clay and he confirmed the motor #'s for me. Need to finish the cleanup, find a tank and should be a runner. Good compression. Vin, this one is setup like the way that you show it. That and I guess I've got some leakage to clean also

Some calender material...that last pict is.

If I'm not mistaken the deck is supposed to be run down, withe the gauge wheels in the ground. If that is true then the tire size would make no difference.
  32. 1 point
Not too bad though, pretty clean... looks like someone got the process started for you.

Yes the tractor did come from Charles. He is a great guy. He went to one of the Carolina's to visit his Aunt and dropped it off on his way. My neighbor and I waited for him and unloaded it. The previous owner went at it with a pair of dikes and removed all the gauges by simply cutting the wires. It will need a complete wire harness which if will have to reconstruct. Wish I had an old one to use as a guide. All the gauges and parts came with the tractor and it had less than 350 hours on it. Metal is very clean. I pulled the air cleaner and the plugs. What I found was it looks like water got into the carb throat. You can see the stains on the choke which is closed. The choke cable is frozen also. As soon as I put the engine back in my 416H I will pull this one and check it out. I caught myself up on the net this morning of course checking out any Wheel Horses in my area. What is the matter with me. I have more on my plate than I can finish in my lifetime. Sick.

It's the end(seh)is what people get creative with. I've heard it...see, say, sah. Correctly, I think the(seh)is pronounced "ahh" To me it's...Tecums-ahh.

I've been following this with interest because it seems that the proper amount has always been a bit in question. Here's my uneducated . Through the years I've never felt that filling the transmission just to the overflow point was quite enough. Not that I'm second guessing the manufacturer but it just didn't 'feel' right to me. Add to that the confusion in what they recommend. I agree that it's somewhat of a 'splash' system but I wonder just how much gets tossed up given the relatively low RPM of the gears and the viscosity of the lube. Maybe a better word would be 'sling'. I believe a good deal of the lubrication also comes from the lube riding the gear teeth, etc. up and then flowing back down. The only transmissions I filled to the recommended level was those with a dipstick. The rest I used 3 pints. Maybe overfilled?? Possibly but, as mentioned, it's not like a motor and foaming won't be a problem. I wish now that I would have completely drained a dipstick equipped transmission and checked just how much it took to get to the fill mark. In any case the exact level isn't as critical as a motor.

I probably started mowing on this tractor when I was about 6 or 7 ,and up to about 18 when he "retired the old girl" and gave it to me, I did a complete tear down and repainted it with apple red from the wheel horse dealer in the mid 90's. The original 8 hp was pretty tired, so during the restoration, I re powered with a 12 hp kohler. 02' DL never finished It's still in my storage unit, need to drag it home and get it going again. 02' DL never finished

I'm up for that trip John...it might be a long ride home for you though.

Yes there is no shifter boot at all and water must have gone throug from there. I remember my grand-father use to fill up that boot with grease just to make sure water would not get in the transmission. Was messy but effective!

I bought lots of stuff but the bigger items are pictured. 1984 C195 from Jordan, a very clean original 1957 RJ35 to complete the missing year/model in my collection, a nice K91 that runs mint, and a original Ride Away Sr snow plow with original rear chains. Not pictured are many items like 7 seat covers (4 from Mrs. Buckrancher, one from Fun Engineer and 3 originals, a 1959 RJ that I bought and sold after I got the "planter" and rear seat bracket off it that I wanted, and a bunch of other smalls that really added up... This was another great show and I had a blast as usual. My regret is not having enough time to spend talking to all the members here.

We all know how light in the loafers round hoods are in the front.Using the back blade on my 704 created some interesting wheelies. I thought about a tombstone. They are real cool but cheap that I am I wanted something different and more practical. I can use suitcase weights on my C-160 and Power King as well. Bracket in primer. I'm using the front quick hitch holes so i put in a spacer for the front holes in the bracket. I liked it so much mocked up I made one for the 160. A bit different so it will come off easy for mowing. Bracket on the 704 Finished Bracket also doubles as a handy place for my I.D. tag
