4 pointsThis was my second show, unfortunately I wasn't able to bring my own rides due to a blown brake line on my truck. Still had a great time seeing all the cool customs, vintage rides, factory-like restos and even the "well worn". Here are my pics from Friday. Some are the same tractors that others have posted but there are definitely some I haven't seen posted. *The 310-8 Red Hood at the end is from Sat. It was the only complete one I saw at the whole show. I took many pics of it because that is what I'm rebuilding. ENJOY

4 pointsI needed a place to sit real bad and it was tho only seat left. I saw Steve reach for his camera so I told that lady "Don't mind me , but that big red sweet tomato over there is going to take a picture of me" then I started screwing around!

3 pointsI was thinking it might be nice to set up some sort of obstacle course or over land course in that big empty field on the north/west side of the grounds. It would take away some of the congestion, and some of the noise of all the horses running around the circle all day. This is the first year that I saw a few of the younger people getting yelled at for going to fast and darting around. As this show keeps growing, this might be an option. It is great to be able to ride around at this show, not many shows let this happen...I would hate to see something happen that ruins it for all of us. Just a thought.

2 pointsI went to the show last week hoping to bring home something to play with. Almost did several times and am really sorry I did not go after that nice D200 that was sitting at the show. Came home disgusted with myself. You can bet that next year I will be ready to pull the trigger a lot quicker. Well I am feeling much better today. I got myself a Wheel Horse 417-8. The deck has a hole in it and one crack. Not hard to fix. There is no rust to speak of on any other part of the tractor. It will need a seat. I suspect that it was kept indoors most of it's life. Now the hour meter says 2050 hours. I find that hard to believe because of the condition of the rest of the tractor. The 17hp Kohler is a series 2 and does not smoke and runs strong with no abnormal noise. Guy I got it from picked it up in Pa. and has had it for sale on Craigslist for about a month. All he knows is that he brought it home and put a new battery in it and cleaned the carburetor. My guess is that the engine was rebuilt sometime in the past or the hour meter is from another tractor. He is one of those guys who picks up junk for free. I happily paid the guy. He asked $450.00 and I offered him $350.00 which he accepted and I will pick it up on Tuesday and bring her home. At least my blues are cured for a while.

2 pointsThe homeless bus stop photo is priceless! I've looked thru the pics a few times and I laugh every time I see it... The two people on the right of the Squonk were clearly just looking for a place to rest for a moment... It looks like the Squonk may have mosied on over, sat down and passed a little gas by the evil eye the woman on his right is giving him! There is a guy in our group that reminds me of Forrest, Forrest Gump. I ain't sayin who it is cause I don't want him to take it the wrong way! Lol! So, who is it?

2 pointsHere you go Craig. Still have to finish welding the wheels but you get the idea. Also got the grille sitting where it will be.I want to try and figure out how to make the hood tilt with the grille staying put.Dont know if I can make it tilt forward or maybe make it open like a car hood.

1 pointAs many of you know, I did a back-flip with the Commando 8 while loading it on the trailer to go to the big show. It was a very scary feeling sitting in the drivers seat, seeing the front end of the tractor coming up and over me. I remember saying to myself "this is not going to end well". I think I also said "oh poop" or something similar. Anyway, the Commando ended up on it's right side with my right leg pinned under the hood, just in front of the muffler. There were lots of dents, scrapes, and damage to the Commando, but nothing that can't be fixed before the next big show. As far as me, I suffered a 1 inch laceration just above the ankle, and various scrapes to my leg. Nothing broken, just badly bruised. Somehow, I managed to avoid hitting my head. One week later, I am on the mend nicely, and the tractor runs fine. So, the reason for this post is warn others of the dangers lurking while going up or down a ramp of any height. At the show, many asked me how I managed to flip the tractor on such a low ramp. Well here is how it happened. I was climbing the ramp in a forward direction in 1st gear. When the right rear tire hit the hinge, it began to spin. So I let the tractor drift back slightly, and tried again. Still spun. So, with the tractor in gear, I increased the throttle, depressed the clutch, let it drift to the bottom of the ramp, and when the rear tires hit pavement, my foot slipped off the clutch causing the front end, which was already at an incline, to raise up (wheelie) and flip over me. The moral to this story is DON'T drift backwards down a ramp with the transmission in a forward gear. From now on, I either back the tractor up the ramp or walk beside it.

1 pointI am going to organize a safety course for our younger tractor drivers, maybe have them bring their Wheel Horse that they are going drive letting them show me what they know about the tractors operation. I could check over their Wheel Horse to also make sure it is in safe operating condition. Possibly an easy test and a wrist band to show they have past. I liked the engine cackle with the decibel meter but I am still looking for a way to show the world with the web TV just how many people and Wheel Horses attend the Annual Wheel Horse Show and I have figured out a way BUT BUT BUT It will take major involvement. I was thinking of a DRIVE BY in front of the camera, not like the parade but ....... lets say we mount a camera in a stationary spot and we all just drive by the camera one Wheel Horse right after another. The time and number of Wheel Horses would really show the world that this show is big ! At the show this year Neil and I were talking about world records and maybe we should contact the Guiness Book of World records as the Annual Wheel Horse Show is the largest gathering of Wheel Horse tractors and the largest garden tractor show. 1 point...from the 2014 WHCC show. Thought I'd share a few images, and names(in no particular order)of the people who gathered together this year... and helped to make another show a joy to be a part of. There's no doubt...our Wheelhorse people are what make the show, so it's no wonder why... I already can't wait for the 2015 show, and hope to see you all again next year. 1 pointGot the old Horse back and it is a big improvement!. The Engine now starts immediately and runs like a top. The body looks much better and the lights really light up the airplane you are moving. The video below is dark, but gives the idea of how it moves an airplane. I will post some pics also. http://youtu.be/HFym_S1KMZI

1 pointThe feller that makes these mats was at the show, and they really are nice. I was pleased to see the material he uses was the same type of heavy rubber matting that I used when I made medical equipment at the family machine shop. Stuff is very durable, and will last a long time. I thought about dragging out some old scraps from inventory and making my own, but with what he is selling them for, it just isn't worth my time to make a pattern and cut them out. Only problem is I screwed around at the show and ended up not getting a set. Now I will have to order them. Grrrrr.

1 pointalright, i had to back up here and re read your post again. I need to apologize, Bill......... i was wrong and thought you meant the pin that holds the hi/lo range shifter to the hi/lo selector that sticks out the top of the trans. not sure why i missed that. You mentioned the hi range shifter and i assumed you were talking about the hi/lo range shifter. I'm sorry i lead you astray. Just ignore me from now on, Garry knows what he is talking about..........

1 pointI have not made the time to take pics of the stuff I bought but I certainly will try to do just that this week. Like alot of collectors do, I bought some bits such as adjustable tie rods, fuel tank caps with the gauge, shifter boot, battery hold downs, and a battery tray. The two big ticket items I purchased are a Beautiful Shaker Plate Mounted K-341 from Paul Oldenburg (Old Red Rider) and a Super Nice Wheel Horse Pull Behind Trailer. I purchased the trailer from John's (WallFish) Dad. John tell your Dad I really am thrilled with the trailer he sold me. Your Dad is a good man, and I hope to see him again next year.

1 pointI "have this friend" that has a quad remote helicopter that has an HD camera mounted on it that does live feed or recording. If that seems like a good idea, I can probably arrange that. I'm not sure if we have ever had an aerial view

1 pointits looking real good, Jake. Will be another very nice tractor when you are done..... I gotta say Jake you have a bunch of talent for these tractors at such a young age, and I'm always floored by how much knowledge and ability you have at finding parts for these older ones. You are becoming a force to be reckoned with!!!! Us older guys better watch out, i know I'm looking out!!!

1 pointWell, some good news! The fuel shutoff valve was seized in place. I twisted it back and forth a few times and it broke loose. When I cranked the engine over I noticed the fuel flow through the fuel filter was constant and had much more volume than before. The engine fired right up and ran like it should whether at idle or full speed. Regardless, I am going to have Scott's dad go though this machine completely. It has oil leaks, the fuel lines are old, the plug wires look old, and it needs a brand new paint job and body work. It should be neat to see what it looks like done.
