This was my second show, unfortunately I wasn't able to bring my own rides due to a blown brake line on my truck. Still had a great time seeing all the cool customs, vintage rides, factory-like restos and even the "well worn". Here are my pics from Friday. Some are the same tractors that others have posted but there are definitely some I haven't seen posted. *The 310-8 Red Hood at the end is from Sat. It was the only complete one I saw at the whole show. I took many pics of it because that is what I'm rebuilding. ENJOY

I needed a place to sit real bad and it was tho only seat left. I saw Steve reach for his camera so I told that lady "Don't mind me , but that big red sweet tomato over there is going to take a picture of me" then I started screwing around!

I was thinking it might be nice to set up some sort of obstacle course or over land course in that big empty field on the north/west side of the grounds. It would take away some of the congestion, and some of the noise of all the horses running around the circle all day. This is the first year that I saw a few of the younger people getting yelled at for going to fast and darting around. As this show keeps growing, this might be an option. It is great to be able to ride around at this show, not many shows let this happen...I would hate to see something happen that ruins it for all of us. Just a thought.

I went to the show last week hoping to bring home something to play with. Almost did several times and am really sorry I did not go after that nice D200 that was sitting at the show. Came home disgusted with myself. You can bet that next year I will be ready to pull the trigger a lot quicker. Well I am feeling much better today. I got myself a Wheel Horse 417-8. The deck has a hole in it and one crack. Not hard to fix. There is no rust to speak of on any other part of the tractor. It will need a seat. I suspect that it was kept indoors most of it's life. Now the hour meter says 2050 hours. I find that hard to believe because of the condition of the rest of the tractor. The 17hp Kohler is a series 2 and does not smoke and runs strong with no abnormal noise. Guy I got it from picked it up in Pa. and has had it for sale on Craigslist for about a month. All he knows is that he brought it home and put a new battery in it and cleaned the carburetor. My guess is that the engine was rebuilt sometime in the past or the hour meter is from another tractor. He is one of those guys who picks up junk for free. I happily paid the guy. He asked $450.00 and I offered him $350.00 which he accepted and I will pick it up on Tuesday and bring her home. At least my blues are cured for a while.

23 x 10.50-12 on 12 x 8.5 rims. It's actually a 416-8 that I'm currently building (or more accurately throwing money at) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The homeless bus stop photo is priceless! I've looked thru the pics a few times and I laugh every time I see it... The two people on the right of the Squonk were clearly just looking for a place to rest for a moment... It looks like the Squonk may have mosied on over, sat down and passed a little gas by the evil eye the woman on his right is giving him! There is a guy in our group that reminds me of Forrest, Forrest Gump. I ain't sayin who it is cause I don't want him to take it the wrong way! Lol! So, who is it?

Here you go Craig. Still have to finish welding the wheels but you get the idea. Also got the grille sitting where it will be.I want to try and figure out how to make the hood tilt with the grille staying put.Dont know if I can make it tilt forward or maybe make it open like a car hood.

As many of you know, I did a back-flip with the Commando 8 while loading it on the trailer to go to the big show. It was a very scary feeling sitting in the drivers seat, seeing the front end of the tractor coming up and over me. I remember saying to myself "this is not going to end well". I think I also said "oh poop" or something similar. Anyway, the Commando ended up on it's right side with my right leg pinned under the hood, just in front of the muffler. There were lots of dents, scrapes, and damage to the Commando, but nothing that can't be fixed before the next big show. As far as me, I suffered a 1 inch laceration just above the ankle, and various scrapes to my leg. Nothing broken, just badly bruised. Somehow, I managed to avoid hitting my head. One week later, I am on the mend nicely, and the tractor runs fine. So, the reason for this post is warn others of the dangers lurking while going up or down a ramp of any height. At the show, many asked me how I managed to flip the tractor on such a low ramp. Well here is how it happened. I was climbing the ramp in a forward direction in 1st gear. When the right rear tire hit the hinge, it began to spin. So I let the tractor drift back slightly, and tried again. Still spun. So, with the tractor in gear, I increased the throttle, depressed the clutch, let it drift to the bottom of the ramp, and when the rear tires hit pavement, my foot slipped off the clutch causing the front end, which was already at an incline, to raise up (wheelie) and flip over me. The moral to this story is DON'T drift backwards down a ramp with the transmission in a forward gear. From now on, I either back the tractor up the ramp or walk beside it.

A few days ago I was on craigslist and found this little B80. The owner said he was cutting grass with it and it just quit. I went and looked at it yesterday and I handed him $200 for it. I loaded it up on the trailer and got it home and looked and the key switch plug was loose. I put the plug back on and gave it a jump and it took right off! To top it off it was only about 2 miles from home and it came with a full tank of fresh gas. This makes 7 horses for me and only 1 for dad.

I can't believe how quick and easy the FEL comes off. I'll take pics of it with the bucket on before I remove it. This machine has under 300 hours so I hope it is the last one I'll ever need. Loving the enclosed cab option but very pricey. I will be looking for a front plow for it. Tomorrow afternoon is the big day if it is dry enough to see what it will do. Can't wait...

...from the 2014 WHCC show. Thought I'd share a few images, and names(in no particular order)of the people who gathered together this year... and helped to make another show a joy to be a part of. There's no doubt...our Wheelhorse people are what make the show, so it's no wonder why... I already can't wait for the 2015 show, and hope to see you all again next year. I don't drink and drive. I don't talk on my cellphone and drive and I surely don't text and drive. And I don't wanna be on the road with those that do the above. Well today I discovered I am no different than those above. I was coming home from Biglerville, Pa today when the incident occurred. Don't ask me where Biglerville is cuz I don't know. I can only get there with GPS and there is nothing there but a fairground. We loaded up the pickup truck and were headed home. I was on the road about 5 minutes and felt tired. I can't drive like I use to. I was yawning, shaking my head and putting the window down. I finally get on the PA turnpike. Still feel tired and shaking my head. I've driven like this 100s of times before. I'm doing around 75 MPH in the slow lane and all of a sudden it happens. I hear a loud scream. It's my wife. I wake up from a sound sleep. I was completely out. I'm inches from the concrete divider to the left of the fast lane. What do you think you would do if suddenly awaken inches from the concrete barrier doing 75 MPH. You yank that wheel to the right. Yank the wheel hard right at 75 mph now you have a job of not rolling or hitting something like another vehicle or a tree near the slow lane shoulder. All I could think of was Carrie Underwoods song "Jesus take the wheel". I didn't think I was gonna save it. I thought for sure I was gonna hit the divider, hit another car or roll the truck. Nope. I got it under control. By the grace of God no one was hurt and I didn't hit anything. It scared the hell out of me and I went to a small rest area not far down the road and took a break. I was wide awake for the rest of the drive home. Start yawning, turning up the A/C, rolling the window down or rocking your head back an forth, then you're a candidate for dozing off. I didn't think it would or could ever happen to me. Now I know.

I just ordered a set of the floorboard mats that Eldon makes (classickitchensandmore.com) for a 1990 312-8 I bought on Tuesday. I met Eldon at the Big Show in Gettysburg and did not get to see them for sale in the swap meet area -but of course I did not need them at that time anyway!

Got the old Horse back and it is a big improvement!. The Engine now starts immediately and runs like a top. The body looks much better and the lights really light up the airplane you are moving. The video below is dark, but gives the idea of how it moves an airplane. I will post some pics also. http://youtu.be/HFym_S1KMZI

Here is a photo early this spring of my Son smoothing out the parking lot at our shop. We had just picked up the little D18 auto. Since then I have done alot of work on it, and the little guy has returned the favor as it is really a great little tractor for pushing dirt around. Currently it has new ag tire filled with liquid, new front tires and 4 bolt hubs.

I just was looking on tractor wikia.com to id another tractor manufacturer's model for a friend. While on this really nice site I notice NO WHeel Horse Information on the site. We may want to add some of Wheel Horse history, photos , etc! This List is the main Index page of ALL Tractor manufacturers of the world on Tractor Wiki And aims to list EVERY Manufacturer. From here pages can be added for each individual Make or Brand name. Please add any missing companies and expand the Histories and the lists of models and known examples in preservation. Help build the database/ encyclopaedia as this is an Open Project 'Wiki' to document ALL Makes and Models. This is an incomplete list, which may never be able to be considered complete. Relavent additions are welcome and you can help by expanding it.

Nice 1045. It's great that it has it's original tires, they're getting harder to come by. I love my 1045, and almost brought it to the show this year, but circumstances beyond my control prevented me. Here is a picture of mine (restored):

now that the seat is on theres only one thing left to do, seat time....... took it out and drove around the neighborhood for a good hour tonight, not sure if i was making the neighbors go nuts or not, because i was too busy enjoying the ride....... sorted a few minor things and found some others that will need fixing, biggest issue was the shifter is not central in its gate when in gears and just slightly touches the sheet metal cover. that will involve removing the covers and fixing. i will be removing the upper dash and covers anyway when i get the final dash decals from Terry so that can wait till then. also the parking brake lever isn't in the middle of its slot anymore and will probably need to be repainted as one side is scraped from touching the side of the slot. I think right now, i have a few fasteners that need to be swapped out for yellow plated ones, the decals need to be created and applied, hood catches need to be riveted to the hood (i just have small screws and nylock nuts holding the catch on right now), and a few other small things I've got written down somewhere need to be fixed, along with the shifter fix and i think it will be good.... after i had my fun riding around i brought it back and did a video of it.........

Well I let the horses out of the barn for some much needed exercise. Lawn was out of control due to not being able to mow last weekend because of the valve job on my 520h. I tested out my 310-8 and it performed beautifully after a new deck belt. The 520h did amazing as well with both cylinders actually working. Started tinkering with the new automatic 10. Got that running and to my surprise I put it in forward and almost flipped the tractor. Very scary take off. The front tires were 2 foot off the ground. Is this normal????
