5 pointsOur camping neighbors the Wilson's (Wayne and Rich and their families) from PA. had some nice tractors and they were great people to connect with. I think Rich Wilson made up this 1968 Wheel Horse Lawn Ranger for his daughter into the cutest little tractor at the 16th Annual Wheel Horse show! I did not see any other as nice! His daughter ( and her sister behind her with grandmother a tow) drove this thing several times around the show grounds. And she drove safely and well!

3 pointsI wanted to pass on my heart felt thanks to everyone that has helped myself and my Foster Sons over the last 4 years. I started out with 2 boys, brothers, also my Grandsons, I served as their Foster Dad/Guardian. One boy Tyler, was allowed to go back to his family, but not Trevor. I remained Trevors Guardian until he Graduated. Trevor was the one that played football & his team, in 2012, went all the way to LUCAS OIL STADIUM in the Championship game and finished Runner-up. Tyler is a wiz kid-he graduated a year early and is going into Mechanical Engineering @ Purdue University. I couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments. GOD was truly with me each step of the way, although I have lost most of my sight in my one eye-I feel blessed . My Journey is over! Thank you all again- you are good friends!-Al

3 pointsBoy it was sure another great show!! In my opinion, the BEST part was the people you meet or see again and the conversations Thanks Duke (HorseFixer), stevasarus and Van (Wheel-N-it) for you know what Thanks to Fun Engineer for the extended conversations . . . I think we solved all the world financial problems I really hate to name names because I'm afraid I'll miss someone. You all know who you are. We have a NEW member "Rocuski" that I sucked in last year (friends with his dad). He brought the 1267 and made a new purchase of the 753 that I'm sure he will try to have there next year. He and dad had it running the day after they bought it! My "setup" beside buckrancher The raffle tractors with Neil from the UK and his lovely significant other Wild Bill (bpjunk) revving up the crowd at the parade Boy, if it was red Mrs. Zeek Me explaining the fire breathing capabilities of a finely tuned Tecumseh and Wild Bill pretending to go temporarily deaf buckrancher's beautiful brand shpankin new (NOS) LSE work of art that doesn't touch the ground Neil on stevasarus's ride I should have taken more pictures and will have to work on that next time. I saw a bunch of camera clicking so I'm sure there will be other posts.

3 pointsDrill 3 holes in the damaged area. Flip the deck on its back and bolt the deck down to a solid surface. Use several of the holes already there to fix it solid. Get a piece of 3x3 angle iron and drill three holes in it to match the three you drilled earlier into the deck. Bolt the angle iron to the same solid work surface as the deck and line up the holes as good as possible. Put 3/8 or 1/2 inch threaded rod thru the 3 deck holes and the angle iron, add nuts and maybe a backer place inside the deck and tighten the nuts. Go slow alternating the nuts. Think of this as the poor mans hydraulic jack. With patience you should be able to get it pretty close to straight.

3 pointsThanks for sharing the pics Zeek. The pic of Wild Bill kills me, there is a reason why he is called Wild Bill! Zeek, you were the first guy to tell me you didn't recognize me without my hat. After a few guys repeated what you said, on it went! You guys are right, the Big show is like a Big family reunion which makes it the best hobby I have ever been a part of.

3 pointsGood find on the rare RJ58 Front Stud Weight John! I have a 1958 Factory Parts Manual that list's this as a Part Number 3492, FW-60 (= front weight 60 lbs). and the stud kit, Part Number 3493. It is referred to as a front stud weight, due to the small hooked studs that thread into the back of the weight and rest on the front axle beam. It doesn't attach to nothing, it just hangs on the studs on top of the front axle beam. I don't see any paperwork before or after 1958 and I think they didn't make them for very long. Mine is a NOS unit in the original box! It shows the makers name and address and where it was shipped to. They would fit on the 1955, 56 and 57's too, plus the RJ58 and RJ59's. As Bill stated, I also think they were made to replace the front weight that was mounted inside of the grill hood area, but I don't think they were made before 1958, but it is possible. Those front grill mounting type weights were made in 1955,56 and 57. I think they weighed 80 lbs. Here's some pics of mine.

3 pointsSteve, Here is a picture of my 1962 Custom Craft fiberglass boat being put back into the drive way with my 1962 Wheel Horse model 552. The Custom Craft boat company of Buffalo, NY made fiberglass boats from 1957 to 1966 and my Sea Ray model was one of the few boats made at the Salem, VA plant. Wild Bill

2 pointsWhats up every one? I had a great trip out to Pa. definitely alot of fun. Before I left I had a chance to look at and snag a couple of rjs. My question is has anyone ever seen a front weight that attaches to the front axle? I was thinking that Hammerhead posted something like this, I am curious as to what you guys think?

2 pointsI recently talked to an old farmer who said he had 3 old WH's in his barn and they hadn't been ran in many years. I told him I would like to buy them and he said to come take a look. I went over a couple times and he wasn't around. Finally he called me and said to come on over. He had 2 RJ58's with mower decks and a 1960 Model 550 with a snow plow mounted on it. I made him an offer on all 3 but he said he wanted to keep the one with the snow blade. Bummer because it had the original 5.5 hp. Tecumseh engine on it!! It was pretty rusted though. So he told me what he wanted for the 2 old RJ's and I bought them right away. I haven't gave up on the 550 yet though. I drug the 2 old girls home and started to clean up the one with the mower deck mounted on it. It ain't too bad but it has a new fangled 3 hp. Briggs motor on it. It turns over nicely with good compression. I haven't got around to taking it apart yet but it should run. The other RJ, he must have painted it orange a long time ago. It is in rougher shaper but the 5 hp Briggs motor is in good shape and may run with some effort. It has the early style of General front tires on it which are rare and used on the 1956 RJ's and some 1957's too. Never seen them on a RJ58 so maybe it is an earlier production RJ58. Here's a couple pics of them.

2 pointsI have used three different colors that are all PPG automotive paints. One was Wheel Horse red, one was GM #81, and the latest was Ford New Tractor red. All three are close, but I think I like the Ford color best. As has been widely discussed, there is no one formula that is "correct" as Wheel Horse used different paint suppliers from year to year, and each had a slight variation. Find a red that you like, paint your Wheel Horse with it, and it becomes your Wheel Horse Red. [emoji2] Sent from my Moto G using Tapatalk

2 pointsFor the size of the D180 I like the 5 rib tires......it lets the tractor steer much easier..... Can be had at miller tire....

Neil: To a tractor show in PA. Carolyn: Oh no, they have those nutters there in the states too?!? but isnt there a lot of crime in the States? Neil: Oh thats just on the telly...

2 pointsSold some parts and traded as well. Brought home a 59 RJ, mid cultivators from Chasm for the 704, a homemade york rake from Wallfish and a plow from Wallfish's dad, a nice K321 and a bunch of little stuff for projects. Not pictured is a 10" Brinly plow from Denny Clarke that was shipped on the "Haulasarus" and is now being hauled by buckrancher as I ran out of tie downs and room!

2 pointsOnce again it was great to see all the faces behind the typing here on RedSquare. Too numerous to mention everyone. Thanks for all the well wishes on my backflip induced leg injury. Everything is healing nicely. What did I get? I got the 2nd Annual RedSquare "Stevasuarus" Award as a result of the aforementioned injury. On the other hand, I picked up a lot of miscellaneous parts, and I sold my two Lawn Rangers, and my B-100 Automatic. Here is the happy new Lawn Ranger owner.

2 pointsOk, time to liven things up around here. I found the pic from page 73 of "The Book" and posted it somewhere on the site. The first one to find it will be the first one to get to look at it, her, it. Yea, it. Wow, I can't believe nobody has found it yet.

1 pointBought a couple of horses several days ago and picked them up today and brought them home. Neither one runs right now and I'm not sure what is wrong with each one, but I got them reasonable and if I have to part one or the other out, I will get my money back and then some! Here are the requested pictures! 1981 C-125 (with a 14 HP Kohler Magnum transplant) 1976 C-160

1 pointThis year was an amazing time at the WHCC show. Being able to spend Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the show is really a must for everyone's bucket list, and trust me if you don't have this on your list, you better put it there! One of the best parts was hearing feedback about the forum. I didn't hear anything negative, but I learned quite a bit by listening. As soon as I get MY computer back running again, I will be getting something together for business cards. I can't tell you how many times this weekend I heard someone promoting and we have NO cards to give out. During the raffle, I was sitting almost directly across from Redbird who was explaining to a friend of hers what RedSquare was and all about, and even Tony kicked in explaining how we got our name, better than I can do too! So RedBird, unfortunately no one had a card to give (but that is going to change), you really don't have to post a picture as your first post, but I am glad you did, and thank you for the awesome things you said about this place, it made my day! One of the most memorable conversations that I had was when a gentleman pulled me aside and told me about his hospital stay where he had an extended recuperation time. He spent a lot of time on here, reading through posts and isn't even a member, but he wanted to thank me for keeping the site available as it really helped him pass the time. I learned that there's a large percentage of enthusiasts who don't know about RedSquare, and I need help to figure out how to reach them to at least let them know that we are here, if they want to post a picture, read to pass the time or figure out how to change that mower deck. Of course, the regular crew. You guys are amazing, and even thought we have our "family squabbles" you're here, supportive, enthusiastic, and just the best group of people around (but Craig, next time call me a little EARLIER for the campfire). So what I've learned is this, it a really cool thing that we have going on here, and I am really, REALLY proud to be a part of it. I am humbled by the conversations about RedSquare, especially from those who may not have known I was listening. We're listening, thankful and eager to engage more people to bring into the folds. Finally, what i learned is something that I knew for a long time. I brought my oldest and youngest kids with me. Megan fell ill the first night, and I was really upset about leaving her in the camper by herself, so her brother stayed with her (maybe just to play mine craft I don't know) and I know she didn't have a stellar time, but I asked her and she did.... she had a good time because I had a good time (and that she got to speak with someone from the U.K. thank you Carolyn). So, thank you all for a fantastic show. It's always a pleasure to see everyone, and I am honored to be the guy who sits in the back of John's wagon riding around the grounds with a laptop in hand recording the event! Hope to see you all next year!

1 pointI don't drink and drive. I don't talk on my cellphone and drive and I surely don't text and drive. And I don't wanna be on the road with those that do the above. Well today I discovered I am no different than those above. I was coming home from Biglerville, Pa today when the incident occurred. Don't ask me where Biglerville is cuz I don't know. I can only get there with GPS and there is nothing there but a fairground. We loaded up the pickup truck and were headed home. I was on the road about 5 minutes and felt tired. I can't drive like I use to. I was yawning, shaking my head and putting the window down. I finally get on the PA turnpike. Still feel tired and shaking my head. I've driven like this 100s of times before. I'm doing around 75 MPH in the slow lane and all of a sudden it happens. I hear a loud scream. It's my wife. I wake up from a sound sleep. I was completely out. I'm inches from the concrete divider to the left of the fast lane. What do you think you would do if suddenly awaken inches from the concrete barrier doing 75 MPH. You yank that wheel to the right. Yank the wheel hard right at 75 mph now you have a job of not rolling or hitting something like another vehicle or a tree near the slow lane shoulder. All I could think of was Carrie Underwoods song "Jesus take the wheel". I didn't think I was gonna save it. I thought for sure I was gonna hit the divider, hit another car or roll the truck. Nope. I got it under control. By the grace of God no one was hurt and I didn't hit anything. It scared the hell out of me and I went to a small rest area not far down the road and took a break. I was wide awake for the rest of the drive home. Start yawning, turning up the A/C, rolling the window down or rocking your head back an forth, then you're a candidate for dozing off. I didn't think it would or could ever happen to me. Now I know.

1 pointI bought one of those weights from Rydog at last year's show. I wasn't sure how to attach it, so thanks for the pictures. I thought it needed a special bracket. I'm going to put it on my Rj-58. If you have the DVD that came with the book, Straight from the Horse's Mouth, there is a video of a round-hood being tested with the weight on the front. They locked the steering wheel into a turn, tied the tractor to a tether, and had it going around in circles. Jim

1 pointFinally get to see the cruise. That is so cool seeing all the different tractors cruising around.Hope to be in it next year. Thanks for the video.

1 pointFlip it over and brace it against something very solid...like a railroad tie...that would touch at either side of the bend area. Anything solid that heavy banging won't destroy, or that you don't care about. Hold a length of 2x4 (lay flat) at an angle so as to drive the end of it against the middle of the bend and seriously whack that 2x4 with a BFH...aka Post Maul aka sledge hammer of the 6lb sort. Have a past friend or in-law hold the 2x4 for you. You will also need to take the 'bow' out of the deck. I can see that it is bowed just a little on the left side, but that will be exaggerated when cutting grass if not corrected.

1 pointYea, we definitely don't wanna be all "we were there" kinda folks . . . hope others enjoy what's posted for the cause

1 pointI too had several people come up and say how much they enjoyed the forum. I also had a fellow tell me his hospital stay was made somewhat more pleasant my reading the posts between me and Steve going back and forth. Wonder if was the same guy.My RS hat took a beating with the rain but the button with my name on it made it easy to strike up conversations. Great Job Karl!
