Steve Hillesheim and his wife Chris decided to lay over in Streetsboro, Ohio on their way to the show in Pa., so Karen and I made plans to meet and have dinner with them at Rockne's this evening. We had a great time, good food and beverages! We then wished them a very safe trip on to the show, and wish safe travels to all of you going as well. Steve also presented us with a bottle of Blueberry Especial to take home. It's chilling as we speak for enjoyment later this weekend. Thank you Steve and Chris for a great evening!

Well, I wish everyone a fine Show week. I cant get away and I am getting ready to start restoring my C161. It looks ok from a distance but is in need of real elbow grease, sand blasting and paint/parts. The seat is absolutely shot. Just the metal pan. So I may have over paid, perhaps in bidding war with someone on this site but I am now the new owner of a reupholstered Actual Wheel Horse seat. I figured it was worth it to ante up to get an actual seat. But thats just me. I am sure a Tractor Supply Michagan seat would have sufficed but I really like the look of this one. I imagine if I could get out to the show I might find something that would suffice but as I can't, I bit the proverbial bullet. Again, I wish everyone headed out safe journey. Aldon

My father has been looking for a riding mower for his seasonal campsite. After some convincing I talked him into buying a c-81. Its not pretty but its solid and runs good. It needed a pto to deck belt today so we replaced it. After doing so the engine would stall when the pto was engaged. I felt terrible after talking him into buying this one. Well a quick search here and everything was pointing at the seat safety switch. Turns out he pulled the fender pan off yesterday and unintentionally pulled off the wires. So with out ever asking a question I was able to figure it out which is a big relief for me. Thanks Mark

I am bringing my buffer to the show.... Maybe I can open up a tractor detail business...

hydro - not just because i have one, but what you'd be doing mostly with a FEL is going to be a lot of back and forth.. a lever or even better a foot pedal would make that much smoother. just my 2 cents.

Big storm came thru last night and as with tradition, a photo op of the fleet getting the yard work done before leaving.Half loaded the trailer waiting for things to dry out some. Lot's of sticks but nothing major. Ezra gets to sit out the job as he's going to the show.

Wheel Horse implements specifically for the slot hitch? Anything that needed to be able to lift out of the ground. Disc, Plow, self-powered tiller, Cultivator. The slot hitch is the one that came standard on the tractor. The regular trailer hitch was an add on, and designed to be installed with the slot hitch. Wheel Horse and Jacobsen used slot hitches before they switched over to the more common universal clevis (or sleeve) hitch that everyone else was already using. Manufacturers like Brinly used to make implements with both styles of hitch, but later changed to just making one and offering a slot hitch adapter for the machines that needed it.. I have and have used my slot hitch plow and slot hitch cultivator on several occasions. Would like to find a disc, but that one keeps eluding me.

Michael... is nice to see I'm not the only one with tractors in the house. Glad to hear you didn't switch teams Neil.

I think in that last picture Neil is saying "Finally a steering wheel where it's SUPPOSED to be"

We will be live broadcasting from a public place, there's no expectation of privacy. Also, I don't plan on hiding the fact that we're live broadcasting, and can put a sign out saying as much. We're not talking High Definitiion broadcast TV quality here, so unless you talk into the camera, no one's gonna hear ya anyway.

Here's my restored dash using Terry's dash decal. This is for an 857. Has an extra hole the PO put in for lights switch. I use it for an electric rear lift switch. I had this chromed back in 2001 before Terry was doing dash decals so it looks pretty good from behind also. Sent from my tractor seat using Tapatalk 2

Paul, thanks for the reply. I had been using PB Blaster so I continued today being the fourth day and still wasn't having any luck but I had to get the lawn mowed. I put in my hearing protection an ran the tractor for about 2hrs. I let it set for about 15 min. when finished then hit the bolts with PB waited 10 min. and tried the bolts, they both came out without much effort. Ed

You will love that seat. The upholstery shop where I had that done does really nice work. The do a lot of custom interiors and restoration work. That is some rally nice material and the stitching is really nice. Enjoy! The bidding went crazy right before it went off and I sold another one just like that last week and they were really pleased with it.

Exactly right... I'd prefer this 100 times over to the guys that schill bid their own stuff.... they run your bid until you lose, and then the same item shows back up anywhere from a day to a week later... and sometimes they're even stupid enough to leave feedback to/from the other ID!! Ebay doesn't care though... especially if they still get their final value fee. I know of a few people who do what happened to you... they're just using Ebay more like Craigslist.... get the free advertising, then cancel any bids and sell privately off-site so they don't have to pay the final value fee. As greedy as Ebay is... I really don't have a problem with that.

Thanks! I figued I only spent 75 more than I would for a generic seat. For some reason I thought the show was in Indiana. I see there is a Show in PA this week. I might just be able to coerce the missus into letting me break away for the weekend:)

i dunno - never had that happen so never thought about what the rules are. He was not yet at the 24 hour mark, though. It feels a little shady, but i suppose it is his item to sell to whom and how he wants :shrugs: This did strengthen my resolve to buy a welder and build my own.

The biggest downside to the RD decks are that unlike the SD discharge decks, you can't watch the clippings fly out the side of the mower.... Otherwise, I like both!

Well I took another shot of the tractor along with something I picked up a few years back. I had to move some stuff around in the shed , I also pulled the 702 out to get it down off of the shelf. Have a Great day, Happy Fathers day to all Fathers! John

looking good so far!... one thing i would check with your repair in the last pic is does the belt guard fit right. maybe its just the position of the pic but it looks like you welded some sort of brace underneath the repair. the belt guard fits underneath that area and any extra metal is sometimes in the way. you maybe ok if back far enough to clear the belt guard. maybe you already considered that, but just thought id throw it out there......

Onan Cummins should have all the parts you need. There are many recent posts here on 520 redos . I just finished my '88 520H. It is located in the tractors under "New ?..Find". Some of the common problem areas are ; Overheating of the rear cylinder .. remove all the tins and clean the cooling fins...while the tin is off, check for oil leak under the oil filter mounting bracket..a new gsket is available from Cummins for ~$4... There is also a gasket available from Cummins for ~ $5 to seal the OD of the filter to the tin to increase the air flow across the rear cyl. also I have vented the belt guard to allow the hot air to escape easier. Surging of the engine..... clean the carb, clean the carb, clean the carb Do a search of Onan surging or carb cleaning to find many threads on how to do this effectively. Electrical problems ...Clean all connectors , lugs, fuse blocks, etc. .. unplug and replug each one at least 3X ... New regulator/Rectifiers are available for ~ $25 If you encounter any electrical problems , post them here and our member electrical guru "SAVE OLD IRON" will guide you to a solution. Have fun with it ....Everyone is here to help

A little update on my engine. Beadblasted it a few weeks ago, and then sent it to the small engine shop for a valve job. And Last week I got a NOS gasket set and piston for it. Also purchased a NOS stator for it. I will need to order a set of new rings/ hone the cylinder and it's ready to go back together. I'm going to wait a few weeks though as my local swap meet is in a week and a half and you never know what you'll find there. Last year I got a k91 for $20 and had it running within a half hr. I also keep forgetting to take pictures of the hood, but I've only got a couple weeks of school left, and then I will have some time to get that finished up and primed to start sanding it. This tractor is getting close, and I'm hoping to finish it up for a show by the end of june, but I'll see what happens, rushing isn't always the best thing to do when your trying to make something nice. Thanks, Jake also forgot, I picked these up for a whopping $6!
