5 pointsWhere to begin, and how to put this, without coming across like a "scrooge"/ especially since it is just slightly over a day away from Christmas. We celebrate because we are free. But each morning I get up to watch the news, I am gently reminded, so many "Americans" have lost or never had a respect for our freedom.... To all my brother's and sister's in arms..... I hope one day our Nation respects you for all you have done..... Freedoms Cry If by chance, you should see me cry It’s not for those who fought and died It’s for the one’s, that don’t understand Freedoms price in this great land It’s for those with outstretched hands Greedy hearts from a foreign land It’s for the ones with a black hole to fill Unknown to them it’s an empty thrill It’s for those who never give Never feeling the power of how to live It’s for those who have bickered and complained But never tried to make a change It’s for the one’s that cannot see How shallow they are, “not even a please†It’s for all of these and so many more That mock what our “forces†try to implore The freedom we have is bought with a price Blood, sweat, and tears when “forces†unite So the tears I cry, may one day be dry In hopes of a Nation that understands WHY?

3 pointsPicked up a $50 1848 Workhorse today. PO stated that it came with the house and ran fine until last yr when the starter went out. fluids look fine, engine not seized up came with a dented in lower front 42" RD deck.
-
3 pointsThat is a real nice one Craig, gotta love the sound of a nice running twin Kohler...

2 pointsWe moved into our house Dec.31, 1969 and that is the only year we didn't decorate for Christmas. Over the years we've added a few things. Our town has had a lighting contest for quite a few years and we finally entered it this year and won first prize. We received a nice certificate and a nicer check for $500. That will almost pay for the electric bill this month..................

2 pointsMy D-180 with the snowblade or the hydraulic front bucket.
-
2 pointsSame here Bro' Those folks just don't get it, which is probably a good thing for us in the long run. Imagine what the prices would be on Wheel Horses if all our friends and neighbors were collecting them too!

2 pointsI picked this little True-Trac walk behind tractor up from my brother Dave via one of our trades, he is also known as JimmyZ. He picked it up from my brother Jim thru one of their trades. I must say, I didn't think I'd have much use for this little walk behind. That is until I tried it, it is fun to use! It has more power than you would think it would. It has a little Clinton engine for power and it has a nice posi that unlocks when you turn it around. It has some real nice heavy cast iron wheel weights on the inside of the tires. I have a lot of walk ways that I clear at work. I have a real nice Ariens snow thrower and Ariens snow blower to use at work. Trouble is, when I salt the walk ways before I leave for the day at 3:30 (so the employess don't fall, law suits etc.) I often come in the next day and have a nice accumulation of fairly heavy mushy snow (thanks to the ice melter) that plugs up both of the Ariens machines. I then wind up having to manually shovel, which sucks, and at 45 I ain't gettin any younger. I'm going to take this walk behind to work and see if it helps with that problem. I was considering bringing one of my Wheel Horse's to work to help with that issue but in all honesty I think this walk behind will be easier to use...We shall see!

2 pointsLadies and Gentleman, on this episode of Pimp My Tractor........Nice job Duke, pimpin ain't easy...

1 pointThat engine sounds really healthy Martin! Once you get the carb dialed in to stop the surging, I bet she'll purr like a kitten. Matt

1 pointmore updates...... got a package from mike in ohio, (sorekiwi) today, THANKS MIKE!!!!!!! carb, intake, air cleaner, some heat shields for the exhaust and some parts of a junk muffler got the top off the carb and cleaned the bowl, blew out the idle passages and generally just did a quick job on it, mounted the carb and intake and completed the fuel lines and filter. i had the muffler from the miller welder so i through that on there to see if it would fit. hood won't close so i need to do something about that..... heres some pics..... carb is in great condition, thanks again mike! reused the old gasket, just a wipe of petroleum jelly to help soften it a little.... also here is a video i got my wife to do for me......... the muffler is noisy (just bolted it in without gaskets) and i only went through the carb really quick, the hi speed needs some more love..... but its a runner and the engine seems to be a good one. now i need to go through the carb properly, i have a kit for it so it will get pulled down.

1 pointMade a camera mount inside the cab the other day to film the inside operation of controls and so forth. Since the camera is mounted high and I cant see the screen I cant tell if it is indeed recording..... Well low and behold the Camera musta shut offand didn't record anything. It continued to snow and a couple hours later had a few inches. Well the same thing happened but I was able to get at least the last couple minutes worth of filming. Anyways should be able to get some better footage in the next couple weeks while on vacation.

1 pointI prefer the cast iron rear wheel weights because they dont stick out past the rim like the plastic ones do. Not to mention they (cast iron) are just plain cooler. I also run inside weights on my main plow tractor. I'm not a fan of "hanging" weights off the machine as I feel it just loads the axle bearings up and has the potential to cause premature failure. Mike............

1 pointI just ran my C-175 Series I for and hour an half straight blowing my snow and the neighbors on our last heavy snowfall. I actually like the KT over the Onan but I do acknowledge the issues with the Series I. that is a very nice looking tractor. Congrats!

1 pointWelcome to Red Square. There are a few people on this site that have the parts you need...start a thread in the "Wanted Section". You need to be careful which differential housing you get. You need to count the teeth on your bull gear and if your mushroom gear is OK, you need a differential housing with the same number of teeth as the one you have. There are 2 different teeth counts out there. If the other one comes along, then you need the matching mushroom gear for that differential housing. If you end up replacing both, then you have to see if you have a needle bearing or a ball bearing in the brake drum hole. Not hard or complicated, just want you to get the right parts the first time. The spider gears in both types of housings are the same...as are the axle gears (should they be bad). Here is a video showing and explaining what I am talking about...Plenty of help here on the forum, and that trans is very fixable. If you have any questions, just ask...I may be able to help you find the parts. http://s419.photobucket.com/user/stevasaurus/media/5010-2%20TRANSMISSION/2011_1102JAKESTRANNYS0001.mp4.html?sort=3&o=4

1 pointI am thrilled with the 18hp Vanguard I installed on my '83 GT-1848 ~ so far. My concern with the Vanguard twin is the lack of flywheel side main bearing (ball or tapered roller) and the lateral pressure exerted by the mechanical PTO clutch. The only thing I had to fabricate was the exhaust headpipes - everything else is off-the-shelf Wheel Horse.
-
1 pointNone, although Carol wants to start putting them up before Halloween.
-
1 pointNot a KT-17 fan but I do love the Black Hoods. I think that hood looks awesome from the drivers seat with its lines. Almost has fins! Replace the fender with one off a 300-400-500 hydro and mothball the plastic one. Mike.........
-
1 pointThat has got to be one of the nicest C-175s out there. I saw it on Craiglist and was going to respond. It was also located right in my back yard. The only thing holding me back was that I already have 3 automatics and 1 eight speed. Two have plastic fenders and two have the metal fenders. Personally I would keep the plastic fender. If you switch to metal, I would use the proper fender for that year which is a little different than the new ones. The bottom edge along the back is different. I would also use the correct decal. My 84 also came with the 10.5 wide tires. This is the 84 with a Series II in it and a 520H seat. The flywheel cover is off. This is how it came from the factory with the 10.5 tires.

1 pointThey missed the 1077 but you can get what's left of it by using 1277. They shared a manual. Garry Adding You can search the manuals in Red Square for 1-0310 and come up with the original 1971 illustrated parts list for many 1971 models. What is interesting is the index has a page that explains how they came up with the code letters to identify the different tractor models in the ipl. Always wondered how they did that. Here is a link to the manual.

1 pointDA BEARS!!! O'Bradovich just called the Bores a " Bunch of Ja-Mokes!!!" classic Next weeks game comes down to Who want's it the least? 54-11 TBSS!!

1 pointA Cd player can be jumpy from the vibes, an 8track can have more match books shoved into it to smooth things out!

1 pointI add a little Marvel too. Works great. I buy the MMO oil by the gallons. I run it in the oil an fuel of the plane I fly for a living, I suffered from stuck valves a few years ago. With the MMO, I have had over 1100hrs of trouble free operation. I have had many hrs of trouble free operation in my tractors as well. Ethanol is trash, if you have the ability to get a better fuel, do it.

1 point3631 is correct. i have one. its a good one for the collection. its a terrible worker though. the 68 commando its basically the same except with the kohler engine and electric start, its so much nicer. here is a better picture of one. its hard to find one with a correct seat. thanks brad
-
1 pointI have not seen this unit but the model is 1 3631 with a serial #485437. Straight from the Horses Mouth lists this as a 1968 500 Special. Belongs to a friend of mine. Is this valid?

1 pointBuzz, that is a beautifully done and very impressive display to say the least. Congratulations on the much deserved recognition for your family's efforts and contribution to the community's Christmas Season!
-
1 pointBelieve this was the first model to use a 7/8" shaft The 7/8" shaft is item 28. Item 5 is the V-idler #7451. This is the same as the tractor clutch idler pulley. Napa HD 7-05485 is a replacement with a real ball bearing in it. Which part failed? Garry

1 pointBob, there is no doubt in my mind that Brrly1 was at Woodstock. He probably looked like Forest Gump on his 857 mowing the grass around people that were passed out. Put some flowers in your hair for the next video.
-
1 pointGreat video Bob...a real neat view from the cab. Tell me...is that an ear ring in your left ear or a hearing aid??? I'm thinking MJ is glad she gets to stay warm now. MERRY CHRISTMAS my friend.
-
1 pointDon't forget the Citizens Band whip antenna Bro!!! Loved the vid!!! I just watched the video while enjoying the 78degree temperature here. I'll be mowing some leaves here shortly.
-
1 pointI can see it all now. A Pink Floyd 8 track cassette jammed in there with a book of matches holding the bottom up so it plays smoothly!

1 pointWas that the C-175 in Amsterdam on the Albany, NY Craigslist? There was one listed there that appeared to be in beautiful condition and the listing was only up a few hours? It also looked like the large plastic fender was in good condition which is very rare. That was a lot of tractor for the money if you got it. No problem with the KT17 Series I as long as you know the running on incline limitations.

1 pointThanks all, it is a hydro. here are a couple action shots from the big snow a couple years ago, Even the mighty Horse couldn't bust through the big drift and pile from the state plows at the end of the driveway though. Had to have an end loader finish the job.

1 pointSteve , Me & my good lady are hoping to make the trip to the big show so The sound of the beatles & the Rolling stones will be great & it will stop me getting homesick ive been planning this trip now for a couple of years , so i really hope that it comes off
-
1 pointFor some reason my previous mug shot is missing... not to worry... I'm better looking now.. Me with "The Man" and that peskie little tractor...
-
1 pointI couldn't resist. It's not a Christmas theme and I can't even get a snow picture. I had just unboxed a new toilet for the master bath I remodeled. Of course Kahlua (aka Flea Bite) had to help. I told her if she kept pestering me I'd flush her down. I might have too.....but I couldn't find the flush lever.
-
1 pointYes...it is a thin piece of flat metal acting like a fork sliding the gear...doesn't really take to much to bend or break after time. Remember...these trannys are usually around 30 to 40 years old...parts do get some wear. I know some of my gears started to show signs of wear when I was around 30...a little more wear at 40...I am 60+ now...and with the right lubrication, I just keep going. I also stop first before I change gears...very important.
-
1 pointThanks guys ! Sorry for being scarce, but life has been getting in the way lol. Anyhow, figured I'd post this one up also. Any guesses what this one morphs into? It has big fluid filled tires... ,,,and double hydraulics like a C-195, and a foot operated DCL (from Doc) Electric PTO clutch on a Kohler K341 16hp. If you guessed that it's a C-160 HD, you are correct. Complete 520 chassis with gear reduction steering and a complete mid-1970's C-160 body.

1 pointI'll third vote that! I spent about 3 hrs one night trying to route a new cable. At the end of the process, i should have been thrown in a straight jacket for a few hrs just to get my bearings...(and learn my name again). It would have made me happier than a gopher in soft dirt to find this diagram last year :ychain:
