I gave up on Windows completely in 2007. I spent WAY too much time fixing, downloading drivers, updating and eventually the occasional re-install of the OS. My first Mac was a 20" iMac. Since I bought it I think that it's hung once where the power button had to be pressed to free it up, other than that it just works! Kids now a days have a lot of homework which requires a computer, so late 2011, I bought a Macbook Pro laptop. Again I couldn't be happier (except when liquid spilled and fried the mother board). The computer is fast and super reliable. This year for Christmas I got my son and me a Mac Mini. This will be hooked up to the television and server as a 3rd computer as well as a media center, central backup and Minecraft server. The Mac Mini is going to be perfect since it's low power consumption and virtually silent when running. Can't wait to unwrap this and put it to use! Oh, and for you Windows guys, it'll be fitted with VMWare Fusion and multiple versions Windows (still have to get a windows 7 key though) If you're on the fence about a computer, consider a Mac, yes they're more expensive but the thing just works!

After leaving the hospital, the endless doctors appointments began. Primary concern was the facial fractures which needed to be surgically repaired before the bones fused incorrectly. Second is the damage to the nerves controlling my left eye. My eye was able to look right, but there was no signal to move my eye left which resulted in double vision. It was also the same side where my face was paralyzed so not only could it not move properly, the eyelid wouldn't close either. After a 3 1/2 hour surgery, metal plates and screws placed in my face aligned the bones back to where they're supposed to be. The skull fractures were fusing perfectly, or close to it anyway. I still had considerable numbness on the right side where the surgery was, as well as swelling. During the first month of recovery, I didn't notice much improvement. Still had double vision and even though the surgery was successful, the swelling and bruising made me look very poor. My facial paralysis was not improving and in fact, there is now a noticeable drooping on the left side due to the lack of muscle movement. Electrical stimulus tests showed that the nerve wasn't severed, but was damaged and recovery would be long. There was talk of decompression surgery, but the neurosurgeon didn't think that it would be as beneficial as they could have hoped. The second month, I began to notice that my double vision was lessening. If I looked to the right, I could see a single image. This was terrific news because it meant that the nerve was healing and there's a strong likelihood that my vision will return to normal. Not much on the facial movement, but the swelling had gone down and I was beginning to look somewhat normal once again. During the subsequent months, my vision was finally returned (month 4) swelling was gone (month 6) and my face was showing the beginning signs of moving once again. While still mostly paralyzed, there is not quite a bit of movement and best of all I can close my left eye. I wouldn't say that I can blink, but it is a significant improvement from before. While I am still not a good looking guy, if you didn't know that I was run over by a truck, you really couldn't tell by looking at me. There are some indications that I'm not quite right (visually ) but for the most part, I have regained muscle tone in my face. I have a long way to go, measured in months to years, but I am alive and functioning. Every day I am feeling a little more like my old self and I am thrilled at the outlook. That's all for now...

Ground was a little damp, but had a good day of it. Used a 10 inch Brinley and for a few rows a 8 or 9 inch slot hitch plow. Here are some pics, more comments and maybe pics later. Also brought along my IH Cub Cadet 1650, but had some issues getting it to run under load. Plowing with the 520H with Matt's foot control kit was a pleasure.

A little late to this thread, but finally got some good pics of my snow herd. Have a c141 with blower, 702 with blade, 401 with blade, and a 867 with grader blade. Whatever these can't handle my dad's 06 Silverado does. lol

Scott, I love the group pics with the kids proudly wearing their wh gear... I wear mine proudly as well. And I do agree with all the recent comments. This thread is great reading. As for time constraints, you really do need to break down completion of all stages right up to the very last club meeting. If you need to take shortcuts such as sandblasting and powdercoating, that is what you have to do. Nothing wrong with outsourcing some of the work. Those are processes you can explain to the kids that are much different than hand sanding and painting but can produce beautifully restored parts as well. There are alternative processes to what they have actually experienced that can be time saving when undergoing any restoration project. The bottom line is to have all parts ready for assembly by X date. Final stages of assembly will be the most proud moments for your kids and I am sure for you as well. So enjoy the rest of this ride. It will be a most special time these kids will remember for the rest of their lives. Scott, best wishes to you and your family for a Merry Christmas and a truly Happy New Year!!!

My neighbor gave me a sweet potato slip that grew into a huge vine covering 8'x10'. In the early fall I dug up 50lbs of sweet potato's that tasted GREAT. I do not know what variety. Thanks Francis

The surprises just keep on coming for these kids! Just received this goody box in the mail here at school and will be passing out these awesome t-shirts and hats to the kids tonight. They have no idea what is in store for them and I will try and capture some expressions once they receive them. A big thank you to Ron Greco and Edward Palmer for wanting to do this for the kids. What an amazing gesture of kindness. Merry Christmas to all of you!!!!!!

Thought I'd post what I suppose would be termed an 'e-card' Every year the local churches get together and produce a card which they deliver to every home listing all the services held over Christmas. In the past this has been a cheaply poduced affair but this year they excelled with a proper card with typical photo of Romsey town center which I thought I'd share. The roads leading from the square are all lit with strings of colored bulbs which I've always thought are best since I was a child - part of the magic of Christmas. This year Test Valley Borough Council (of which Romsey is part) said sorry but no money for lights and Romsey Town Council responded with *** you, we'll find it from somewhere and the lights are good as ever. Anyone else got photos of their town at Christmas? Merry Christmas and have a good one from Andy

I am not much of a fan of video games, but my son requested this for christmas. I was surprised to find out it was only 30$ brand new, instead of the usual 60$ I hope there is a nice 312-8 to take a rip on! I am not selling them, and I have nothing to do with the company I just thought you guys would dig it. http://www.farming-simulator.com/about-ps3-xbox360.php

Sorry for belated reply,............. got lost in the other Forums. Yeah !, I'm sure it is possible, if like has been said...you can throw a lot of money at it. It has already been done though with full size cars (2007-ish)!. You only need to think where there might be a bunch of renowned English Petrol Heads and come up with Top Gear UK. Here's an example, enjoy - http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=14&cad=rja&sqi=2&ved=0CHQQFjAN&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flixxy.com%2Ftop-gear-rc-cars.htm&ei=Z92wUv-nLo-ShQfpioDYDg&usg=AFQjCNGqmG-vhohWuwlrTYQ1Lg2LxmjGvQ . Lots of terrific hobby and pastime skills on here and never tire of seeing the great things produced and interests persued . That is not a 1/4 scale. What I am suggesting is a full 1/4 or 1/8th scale model.. Completely operational with hydraulics. The detail on it would be outstanding. I know the talent lies in the RS team... I would be willing to donate to this project. Karl??? This could be something that could be auctioned off at the annual Wheel Horse event..... Put the proceeds back into RS....and another model..

Yes...it was 50 years ago...in the 60's. I never thought I would reach 30 years old at that point. Missouri had a really good team this year...not lucky like Iowa. I watched the Mizzu vs Auburn game...that was a great game, and Mizzu could have won that. I am actually a Missouri fan for the most part...unless they are playing Illinois in basketball in St. Louis. They should be able to handle OK St. in their bowl game. John is reliving the past at the moment...like this Iowa team compares to some Iowa teams from long ago...not. Next year, we will remember how they lost to LSU.

John, the Hawkeyes beat Missouri State University Bears on 9-7-13. Missouri University/ Mizzou Tigers are in the SEC East conference champions. South Carolina and Auburn were their only losses this year.

I had a 1963 Montgomery Ward Garden Mark Squire, which was actually a Simplicity 725 with MW badges. I got it with a 42 inch deck and a Sickle bar mower just like the one pictured. What a pain in the @ZZ to use that thing. The tractor was awesome. I gave it to a neighbor several years ago when I moved and have regretted it ever since. I sold the sickle mower in a yard sale for $50, twenty years ago and have not regretted that! But, yes, I agree the sickle bar pictured is a Simplicity.

Glad they grew for you. I grew my first potatoes this past year but it won't be my last. Pretty good harvest for the amount of room i used. I'm planning on growing some sweet potatoes next year as well. I know my kids sure like them!

I see that NOBODY is picking Oklahoma to beat Alabama. What are you guys thinking??? Seriously, I'm a sooner fan for as long as I knew what a football was ....... but....... The stars are going to have to align for us to pull this one off..... definately need that Sooner magic! It's that time of the year that you find out just how strong/weak your conference is and how strong/weak your team really is. Wierdest time of the year when people from everywhere are pulling for the teams that they HATE. For me it's like hoping Texas wins, it just puts a bad taste in your mouth and you really can't believe you just did that.

Well we got some snow this past weekend, and the blade worked much better. We had around 2 or 3 inches of extremely wet/heavy snow. I moved the pin that adjusts the tilt of the blade to the second hole so it sits straighter up and down. The wear bar didn't seem to wear at all this past time, and I bladed twice as much snow. I am going to keep playing with the blade to see if I can get it to work just a little better, it works better blading to the right than the left. But overall I'm happy with it Lane Ranger: Thanks for the help, my blade actually came with the long lift link but I was afraid it would tear something up since there was no give between the blade and the lift. I might have to try it putting that piece on to see if it helps. I think I'm also going to put just a little weight on the blade. I tried that this weekend, and it seemed to help some.

Yesterday was a monumental day for the Tractor Club. Last night I was able to attend, and present, the school board meeting. In order for the new building to be started it must go through the proper protocols and have the donation accepted by the school board as a formality. Though most just breeze through without any opposition, we were somewhat nervous that we would have to come back with more details as it would be a building that would be placed on the school property. I can understand their reasoning to keep the property looking clean and pleasing to the eye. After many different topics were discussed during the meeting it was time to address the club building. They asked me to come forward and share what was happening with our project. The overwhelming support and smiles that I received were amazing. I still feel like this whole thing is very surreal and hoping that no one will pinch me to wake me up from this dream. I did not get asked one detail about the building itself but they were all very eager to hear about what the kids are doing. Needless to say I was on cloud 9 last night as I left the administration building. So good news is............WE ARE APPROVED! Now the building can commence as I do the leg work to get things prepared....ie electric, permits, site work, etc... I am so thankful for all of those that have made this project a huge blessing to these kids. No matter what you have offered up to the group, it is an amazing gesture and one that is very much appreciated!!!!! Unfortunately there will be no club meeting tomorrow night due to the cold weather and no place to work. The good news is...........that will be changing soon! Merry Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year to all of you from the Harrison Elementary Garden Tractor Club!

it could be done for sure. there's already a huge following for r/c construction equipment, dozers, backhoes, dump trucks, 18wheelers. you'd just need a bunch of parts from various existing models and bulid a frame from fiberglass/carbonfiber/aluminun. i might have to try it someday. the snowblower would be tough, but a blade is no problem, even a FEL. you mean like a model? i was thinking about remote controlling an existing wheel horse Koen

Well, before something else happens in "MY" thread between you girls...here are my picks... BOWLING GREEN, NORTHERN ILLINOIS, MARYLAND, MINNESOTA, WASHINGTON, NOTRE DAME, NORTH CAROLINA, LOUISVILLE, KANSAS ST., NAVY, GEORGIA TECH., OREGON,, ARIZONA ST., ARIZONA, VIRGINIA TECH, MISSISSIPPI ST., TEXAS A&M, NORTH TEXAS, GEORGIA, WISCONSIN, LSU, MICHIGAN ST, BAYLOR, ALABAMA, OHIO ST., MISSOURI, VANDERBILT, BALL ST., FLORIDA ST. Just so you all know...I picked the games first (from what I knew) and then checked out the stats and standings...I did not really change one pick, after looking at the stats... and I am not going to jinx myself now by saying I know what I am talking about...you have to pick to try to beat me...I did not agree with everything that Vegas said either. OMG...I picked the Big Ten to win 4 games...what am I thinking??? I really think that Minnesota and Wisconsin will win their games...I am 51/49 with Michigan St. because of their defense...Ohio St. is a toss up with Clemson (Ohio St. may have been over-rated) . Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa...you guys have been a thorn in my side all year...never know which team is going to show up...I can't wait until you guys have to deal with Rutgers and Maryland..(who are both playing in bowls) If any of you 3 win your bowl games...it is a good thing for the Big Ten...and I am really pulling for you...but you would still be a thorn in my side.

Excellent video, but I have a couple technical questions.Since I cant find Hero tins, would a generic tin be ok.And I was also wondering, are your weights 6 or 12 volt, and is it necessary to charge them before each use?

Regarding the downward pressure, there is a solid link that Wheel Horse made for the Snowplow/Dozer blade that places more pressure on the plow -mostly from the weight of the plow and frame but you can use the lift handle to exert more downward pressure as you are moving forward. The Part No is #7706. There are a couple postings on Red Square on this and you can do a search in the search box for the 7706 solid link and read up on this. Here are a few pictures for you: Personally, I don't think the solid link is that great an idea when pushing snow. You just can't see all the obstructions out there when plowing. It is good or better applied when moving soil, snad or gravel!

Thanks guys ! Sorry for being scarce, but life has been getting in the way lol. Anyhow, figured I'd post this one up also. Any guesses what this one morphs into? It has big fluid filled tires... ,,,and double hydraulics like a C-195, and a foot operated DCL (from Doc) Electric PTO clutch on a Kohler K341 16hp. If you guessed that it's a C-160 HD, you are correct. Complete 520 chassis with gear reduction steering and a complete mid-1970's C-160 body.

just come in from applying all the new decals. I'm very happy with what terry and i came up with.... a big thank you to terry for putting in so much work....... alright, the pics that maybe one or two of you have been waiting for........ because i polished up the paint, to help the decals stick to the paint i wiped down the areas where they were going with wax and grease remover. tackle the hard stuff first, terry cut these in half for me to help apply them around all the critical areas, you need to make sure the throttle slot, the steering and lift/motion control lever holes all line up. would be easier to remove the dash console to apply them in one piece, but that looked to be a bigger pain, so this is the way i went..... right hand half..... left hand half on, had to make sure to line up the halves and the red lines at the same time. again a pain to do assembled like this, but the decals are easy to pull up if you start getting off of where it should be.... rest of dash panels/ covers done, all holes /slots cut, gauges, switches etc installed.... started on the hood with the front, making sure to line up the ends/sides etc all even. approx. 1/4 gap all round decal. left hand side hood decal applied, try to juggle all the gaps to find a happy medium here, you will notice that the front and side aren't exactly in line, but i try to get the bottom gap right with each other and since the blackout on the front of the hood never lines up with the bottom of the side of the hood, you've got to sort of fudge it a little. i start at this point and get it how I'm happy with it and then follow the bottom of the decal/bottom of the hood margin the same all the way right to the back of the hood as i position the decal. pop riveted the hood catches. will paint the rivet heads black so they blend in..... plow decals on. we came up with a warning decal the same style as the lower dash/motion control linkage cover decal but with the wording from the late 70s plow decal..... i also wanted the 90s style id tag for this plow even though its a late 70s plow, i used the model number and serial from my metal tag.... seat pan decal on..... and a pic for steve, used the little stool quite a lot today! saved my back for some abuse another day, I'm sure there will be something stupid heavy to lift and screw it up a little more..... all done... ready for some snow.....lots of it, please......
