3 pointsSpecial Notice!! A lot of folks wanting calendars are posting their orders in the picture thread. Please if you want a calendar, P.M me. I don't want to miss anybody and I'm not always looking at the picture thread. Thanks for your understanding Mike
-
3 pointsAlways been fascinated with things in miniature and seem to manage and learn all things practical with reasonable ease for most of my life. Ended up being a 'Tool Freak' and precision work like Model Engineering. This is my 1" scale 'Still yet to finish Project' - My recent excuse has been The 2 WHs taking up my time and getting the Workshop straight. I have a degree of reluctance to actually paint it due to the array of wonderful coloured metals and finishes, but I will. I also changed the design to improve detail which made more work for myself.. The not-so-good Pics were taken some time ago and some progress made. The Boiler has been Tested and Certificated for 50psi running steam pressure. I just don't learn do I !.

2 pointswell after a challenging day I decided to try the plow on since we got heavy wet snow coming well figured everything out between the rear hitch bracket and plow frame, after looking at a lot of pics here the swivel head fo the plow rod hitch pin was a little tricky had to take that back off after I got it going the right way ended up using the 520 angle arm and works pretty good, not as awkward as I thought it was going to be so got everything adjusted because the first real prob I had I had to readjust the slack on the eye bolt almost all the way to the top then finally hitched up but aanyways I got it and works great we'll see what happens tomorrow
-
2 pointsYea yea yea, you post this junk every year, same old same old, yesterday's news. Now is what's relevant, this year, today. You want to take credit for something you weren't even alive to see. It 2013 not 1898. But I guess this is what happens when your team can't cut the mustard, and you don't have the stones to get in and pick em yourself, yet here you are coming in at the end for no other reason than to yank my chain, and draggin with you the same old tired stats you posted the last two years. If you wanna talk stats, talk about recent stats that are relevant to today. Urban Meyer, 24 straight wins in two years, Brady Hoke, 26 wins in three years. Bucks won the last 2 out of 3. Funny, you didn't mention that, or the 29-6 drubbing MSU put on ya this year. And for the record, OSU and MSU are not both my teams. Like I told ya, I only have one. I'm not a ship jumper. What's on YOUR flagpole? . ...

2 pointsI managed to spend a couple hours working on the Case this afternoon. Finished bolting up most of the accessories to the engine, carb, muffler, shroud, etc.. Also added a few more decals, and I love the way new decals set a tractor off. Matt

2 pointsTwo weeks ago, Auburn was not even in the conversation for the Championship...so much for all those ESPN know it alls. You've got to love college football. Congratulations to MSU on their Big Ten Championship. They did not really win anything...they would have gone to the Rose Bowl win or loose. The only thing that happened...the Big Ten teams that go to the bowls this year will all be the under dogs. The Big Ten needs to win a bunch of these games to have any credibility. Eight teams are bowl eligible...I would think that either Michigan or Penn St. will be playing in Detroit against a MAC team...maybe not. The lowest teams bowl bound are 7-5...if we had one sitting at 6-6, they may not even be bowling this year. MSU beating Ohio St. was not good for the conference...except maybe it kept us out of the Championship Game and from looking completely inept. :)
-
2 pointsFigures, we haven't heard from you all season, and I've never heard you mention Michigan State with anything other than disdain and now all of a sudden they are your "Other Michigan Team". Talk about fanning the fair weather...
-
2 pointsIt adds a "running light" in the headlight bezel. On my 518xi, I purchased some sockets and bulbs from an auto parts store to make my own. I can't say that it was worth the effort. But on the 520xi that is my plow tractor, I am installing some inexpensive LED strobe flashers. I figure it will be handy at the end of the driveway.

2 pointsDon't know how I missed this thread, but this is Great!!! Its another example of the friendships here on Steve, I am super happy for you, and looking forward to you seeing me clearly next June
-
2 pointsLike I have said... They are not and have not been a #2 team. BCS get's what they want, FSU vs. Auburn Title Game....Bucks,,just like Cleveland teams, disappoint you in the end. You get your hopes up only to be let down...They didn't just loose, they got crushed. I'd like to see FSU vs. MSU... With that defense, I really think MSU could make it a great game. As it stands, will be something similar to the Auburn vs. Mizz. score.....
-
2 pointsWell, the Buckeyes great run of wins has ended. Michigan State outplayed us tonight without a doubt. This will no doubt dash the Buck's hopes of playing in the National Championship game. The Spartans are off to the Rose Bowl, and well have to see where the Buckeyes end up in the Bowl Game picture. Congratulations to the BIG Champion Michigan State Spartans!

2 pointsThanks for the input fellas, mad max was the first thing that came to mind when I saw that first pic too. At least they didn't butcher a wh to set that rig up. That being said. It looks like a marvel of American ingenuity. AMERICA!! Thanks for the post I have decided to go with the trailer mount just so it will be more versatile.
-
2 pointsHere's my frame. Fixed up and ready to go! I think this will be just about as strong as new!! Just have to prime and paint the back again :(

1 pointBob, you are correct...you and Duff were tied last year in the bowl picks...I hope you both get in to pick the bowl games again...my mistake... You and Jim need to take a step back and relax. I hope I have my camera ready when you are wearing a Michigan sweat shirt and Jim is wearing an Ohio St. sweatshirt and you give each other a hug...and the caption says..."What's wrong with this picture??". "If it was not for sport, this would be OK". :ROTF:

1 pointI have converted that blower to fit to the attach a matic with a newer mounting bracket that will fit on a C series tractor. Also changed the pulley on the blower to the next size smaller so it will be easier to get the belt off the blower. Works great and spins the auger faster, its on a C160 and really blows. Wingrider

1 pointAsk around, word of mouth is probably the best way to find a machine shop, check out the independent auto parts suppliers and repair shops, if they can't do the work for you they probably know who can or will machine a small engine. Check in heavy truck, farm and equipment shops they still have a need to repair/rebuild components instead of replacing them. Modern equipment and manufacturing process have turned us into a throw away world, often times it's most cost effective to replace parts with new than it is to machine and refurbish with the cost of skilled labor and high tech equipment.

-
1 pointJim...you could always help me root for Illinois...and who ever plays Michigan... Bob...Duff won the bowl picks last year...I hope he gets in to defend his crown.

1 pointYa. I painted when it was almost 60. Can says 40-90. Just got off the phone with Steve. I'm going to try some things right now. He has a good way of looking at things :)

1 pointThanks Steve. I'll get the bearing ordered tomorrow, yes I believe that all the other bearings are in good condition. I didn't see the washer in my manual but it has been copied so much that it is not real clear, I'll check again. I really appreciate your help.
-
1 pointThe bearing is SKF # M-16121...1" ID cap bearing for the base of the 11/44 tooth gear...about $6. Remove the old bearing by tapping the bearing out from the inside either with a large punch (the back side cap is part of the bearing housing), or try a 1/2" drive socket with a short extension that just fits inside the hole. I had trouble loading your picture from my e-mail into here. Is this the only bearing number you need? BTW...the drawing for your trans in the manual, does show the thruster washer going at the base of the 11/44 gear....on top of this bearing you are going to replace. Check it out.
-
1 pointJim...absolutely...24 wins in a row is very special...wait...extremely special. They have had 2 really great seasons in a row.

1 pointYes those pans were on the tractors with the shaker mounting plate. Just had to buy one a couple months ago for a K-341 I put in a C-175. Buy the way, if anyone is going to do that change you will need a different shaker plate also. The one for the K-17 does not have the cut-out for that pan. Just thought it would save someone else that headache.
-
1 pointWe had a similar thing happen with a truck that hauled scrap metal. The tarp/netting material that covered the load, fell down into the drive shaft, and wound up so tight it killed the engine. Took me about 2 1/2 hrs with a air powered cutoff wheel, to get it off and the drive shaft removed. It ended up bending the drive shaft.

1 pointNot really a hobby, but when not messing on horses we are usually working at our blueberry farm. My parents own 20 acres of blueberries and it takes most of our time when the snow is not on the ground. We usually harvest Around 200,000 lbs of blueberries each year. We stay very busy in the summer. and this is what we harvest with. These machines are made here in the same town as us, they shake the bushes back and forth, and then the berries fall onto a conveyor belt that runs back to where you see us standing. We usually run the machine with 5 guys, unless it is the final pick when there is not many berries left. We run over everything 3 times with the machine. my dad drives it, I run one side, my brother runs one side....and two other guys each work on each side and grab the containers of berries and stack them on the trailers. The last picture shows part of our farm, tried to attach it the other way, but must of did something wrong. lol

1 pointsince brian is hogging this month all to himself and nobody else is posting up their tractors (and theres quite a lot of very nice customs by members on the forum)............ edit: i see that fireman just got one in before i finished this post....... i will post one of mine...... most of my tractors have small custom fabrication but look basically oem, the one that stands out the most i guess is my 1057, it sort of fits into this category.... not what you would call a full custom or whatever, but it has a few non oem details, first and for most would be the vinyl 'blackouts' on the hood and seat pan. another not readily noticeable custom touch is all the cast iron has been smoothed before being powder coated. and speaking of powder coat, all the paint on this one is powder, everything, which means all of it had to come apart and be painted individually, because theres a lot of parts on these tractors that doesn't like to be heated to 400 degrees f for 30-60 minutes....... heres some pics of my 1057......

1 pointWell heck i'll through my 1967 Diesel Lawn Ranger out there for consideration. It has a 7hp Yanmar Diesel electric start engine with custom foot throttle. I added a voltage gauge, hour meter, key start, master battery switch and electronic actuator to shut down the engine. I had to "shoe horn" in a battery under the seat as you can see in the picture. The fender and seat had to be raised up with stand offs to allow enough clearance so the battery terminals wouldn't touch. The belt guard had to be shortened and tilted up to compensate for the different engine location. The hood had to be raised and steering shaft lengthened to accommodate the engine. It took about 6 months to complete and a lot of fabrication. It's a blast to drive and really turns heads at the local shows. I reduced the pulley on the transmission down to a 2" one so it really moves.

1 pointwell I also have this little ditty my 701 with stainless frame I started with this and after 5 months Brian

1 pointI buy, but haven't been able to sell any yet. I get them the way I want them and cant let them go. I have 9 now
-
1 pointI had one almost identical to yours for several years. I just sold it this past June. Very cool machines. Just be careful on a downhill or if you need to stop quick - no brakes. Also they are a pain to move around unless they are running because of the chain drive. Looks to be in great shape.
-
1 pointImmaculate, you kept track of the number of rounds of golf, did you keep track of the hours that was spent on this restoration or when you started the tear-down? Mark.

1 pointI have disassembled the trans (thanks Steve). While attempting to separate the case, had trouble, just couldn't pull the top half off. It was suggested that there could be a burr on the axle shaft preventing it from separating (thanks Steve). There was a small crack beside the key slot on the axle which caused the metal to swell and had to be taken down. I did this with a strip of sand paper, checking it often with a straight edge (yea, it took a long time). When I got it down, the top half easily came off. Hopefully pictures of this will be forthcoming (thanks Steve). I removed the forks from the case and found that the ball bearings were a little rough and there was a slight ledge in the grooves where the bearings move, effectively locking up the works (I tried but couldn't get a decent picture of this). With patience and sand paper, I removed the ledges and polished the contacting surfaces. Now after partial assembly, everything seems to work perfectly. I will replace the ball bearings with new ones as suggested (thanks Steve). I will be soaking everything for a few days and hope I can get it all back together. Anybody know where I can get seals and gasket? Oh, by the way...THANKS STEVE!!

1 pointYou could always buy an inverter to change your battery power to 110v. It sure beats having to work within an extension cord length. B)
