Here is my Halloween picture of my 2009 WHCC Raffle Tractor B-100 with my newly re-furbished snow blade.

Came across this the other day. A friend made this to pull behind his Cub Cadet.

I have got myself a Wheel Horse 551 I think and a Wheel Horse tiller, these are something that I want to rebuild and bring back to life if I can find the parts to do so.

And that's why the wifey won't let me ride my WH tractors around the block... she thinks the neighbors think I'm crazy 'cause I own seven WH tractors. I beg to differ however... I think the neighbors are crazy 'cause the don't own a Wheel Horse!

Here is a Halloween trip around a very scary block... I know we have done this before...but this is counter-clockwise and on Halloween with just about peak in colors.

Taking the kids out tomorrow night in the chariot...Shouldn't have a problem being seen in the dark!!! LOL.

After the electrolysis, I put them on the charcoal grill to heat them up and dry them out. I then took my 4" grinder with a wire wheel brush and went over the springs. I had an old bread pan that was the perfect size for holding the springs...mixed up a batch of penetrating oil (2 parts ATF...1 part paint thinner (for oil based paint)...i part diesel) and let them soak in there for 3 or 4 days. I am looking for the oil to get into the metal and not rust. Maybe I will have to wipe them down in the spring. They do look like new. I am going to mount it on the B-100 today.

Head bolts can loose their tensile strength properties over time and many heating cooling cycles. I have successfully replaced mine with Socket Headed Cap Screws witch are grade 8 by definition on my Tecky H-60's. I must admit that I usually do not get out the torque wrench for these small engines I think I have a fairly good feel for how tight they should be. I also use die washers under the heads(hardened steel washers 1/8" thick) this cuts down on the aluminum heads mushrooming out under the head of the bolt. These motors run fairly low compression so the head bolts that are used are a bit over kill. I actually have one motor that I used 316 SS bolts on the head which have a much lower yield strength then grade 8 bolts and it sealed up just fine. And btw 5/16-18 UNC bolts are a standard size, and are probobly the second most common thread size behind 1/4-20, you should have no problem getting them almost anywhere. I would recommend going to a real industrial fastener supply house such as Fastenal, their hardware is usually much better then the overpriced low grade junk sold at most hardware stores. I specify fasteners as part of my job as an Engineering Technician and we buy them by the barrel in certain sizes, currently we only buy bolts in either HOLO-KROME or UNBRAKO brands as both are US made and have successfully proven themselves in the field over many years. Most hardware store stuff is made overseas and you never know what you are buying or what steel was used to make them. Sorry for the rant

I remember buying my son a commodore 64,wow,it even had Pong,I never did get the hang of that. Anyway some years later I called him and said ok,I'm ready to get a computer and get the internet.He got me the latest,it was a 486,he said this thing is so much faster than my 386.LOL A couple years later AOL wouldn't even work on it.When he set it up,I said ok how do I go to AOL?He starts telling me go here and click that,WHOA,I don't even know how to turn this thing on.He just gave me that look that I used to give him when he couldn't change a spark plug.

Won't fit a 401 without making your own slot hitch or lift arm adapter. The 401 used the three piece transmission with the welded slot hitch. The welded version was smaller than the later cast version.

Nice videos guys. Got to thinking while watching these.....Here are grown men, driving their tractors on the sidewalks with snow plows and the like with a video camera and talking....to themselves......Any one have the neighbors call the cops to have you checked out?

I mentioned in your other thread your tiller is likely the matching 1961 model WT-241. Could be a 1962 model WT-242 too... but the designation is really irrelevant, Serial numbers were not documented and they both used the same engine. The Lauson V55D-2339P. Yes, parts will be harder to find, but not impossible. You just have to be diligent about looking. These tillers aren't what I'd call rare, but they are fairly scarce. I have one, I know a few members here who have them and I know of another within 30 miles of me for sale. You won't have to mess with the hitch to make it work with other tractors.... the 551 was the first tractor to use the two piece cast iron transmission casing and the cast iron slot hitch. That slot hitch was universal and fit nearly all models for the next 50 years.

I`ve never seen one. Toro has been removing many parts lists that we have enjoyed for years so thought I would try and post all the transmissions in the library. Will add the differential and axle diameter to the comments in each. Garry

I was thinking the same thing about the paint. I do kindof like the rustic look of the little thing. My main goal right now is to get both engines running first and find another set of wheels all around for the tractor and a set that goes on the tiller. Is the tiller a rare thing?? If I can get the tiller going I want to fab up a hitch so I can use it behind other tractors, does that seem like a crazy idea? I wouldn't mess with the original hitch on the 551 or tiller.

Here's my plow. Painted 2 yrs. ago with a TIP Turbine machine with an HVLP gun, Valspar restoration series with hardener. Just a little dirt on it from pushing a leaf pile last week.

I will have to look at the numbers on the motor tonight. The story behind this thing is I was asking around on a local shooting forum about old garden tractors. One gentelman from OKC contacted me and said he had a old Wheel horse tractor, belly mower, and tiller that he hasn't used since 1989. We talked for a while back and forth trying to figure out what he wanted in trade, is said he could use two boxes of 380 ammo, so I told him I would be there the next day, picked it up then headed west to pick up another tractor which was a Lawn Boy GT 18H (Ford LGT18H), when I got there the guy said just load it up and get it out of my hair, so I did. Brought home two tractors and a tiller for gas, ammo, and time. The GT 18H got some fresh gas, battery charge and it started right up. I have a feeling finding parts for this thing is going to be hard.

Bwaaahaha! Beware the invasion of the Techy snatchers has begun.

I thought that the last update was nice, a lot of decent features which I was glad to see, i.e. air play to your Apple Tv for a second screen, tighter integration with social media and the use of tags in spotlight.... oh... you're talking about Windows...... sorry

I partially agree with this statement... as for over all quality you are probably correct but, purchasing a slightly off beat brand could cause parts availability issues down the road.

This is my fleet for winter I just switched the blade for a sweepster model c 48 rotary broom. I can't wait to try it in the snow.

I don't know how to add pictures to an existing thread but I have the charger 12 with a blade unless it gets bad. If its bad I have a 1940 Ford 9N with a back blade that I pull it out of the driveway with.

Well I finally got the hard to find Model 1045 ! This is one of my favorite WH's but I never got a deal on one until now. Thanks to Speedy Leedy for the tip! It was in rough condition until I got it home and started stripping off the junk and replacing parts and tires. All 4 tires were the wrong ones. I have hoarded up 1045 front tires for years and put a set on the machine for a nice factory look. I replaced the skinny 6X12 rear tires with the correct 8X12's. Replaced the wrong seat with the correct style. I also added a 10 hp generator belt guard. I cleaned up some of the paint but didn't get too far on that before it got dark. So I will work on it some more tomorrow. I also got the original rectangle mower deck for $20.00! Bought another 1962 WH snow plow for $35.00. I just got a 1962 snow plow a couple weeks ago with that 552 I snagged.

This is a different tractor.I have another 55 that I think has the right rims but they don`t seem as wide as later rims. The tires are marked Sears and are smaller,the rim is also too narrow for the spindle.Chuck

the one on the left has the worst amount of pitting of the 2 in the chrome, but they will look great on the 416H... now i need to hunt down some rears.......

Had my arm twisted by a couple of you guys so here's my D-200 in the UK Just finished it in time for the first wheel horse round up over here back in 2012. This is the task that it spent most of its time on this summer - getting rid of weeds in the grazing. To save picking up the 'What deck's that?' question - I modified a NOS 500 series deck I managed to find over here. The tractor was a bit of a wreck (understatement) when I got it and certainly would have been parted out on your side of the pond but they're rare here in the UK so I had to work with what I could get. Many thanks to all the guys (you know who you are) who helped in so many ways during the resto process. Andy
