The wife and I had a great time as well. Will definitely be back again, hopefully with the worker ready to plow. We bailed out of there after the raffle/flood. For the second time now at a show someone has offered to buy the wife's little Lawn Ranger. I didn't think I did that good of a job on it, must just be because it's a Ranger??? The only picture I remembered to take..

I was hopeless at picture taking this time around. BUT I did get one real good pic and when we get home I will upload it. We are still on our way home and just enjoying some couple time without any kids! Really nice weekend and so relaxing..... The weather was great, even with the downpour, at least it wasn't 50 and blowing cold like past years. We had dinner at the Winona lake restaurant, nice food! And stayed the night in Warsaw. Went through south bend and saw Kent's 875 smiling in the rear view mirror......saw Ireland road (is that the one?).......Taking our time going home, having lunch at giordanos (stuffed pizza, yum!) right now and plan on being home later in the afternoon. Was nice catching up with and meeting a few more members on here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

We also had an Oliver 2255 4x4 that thing was a pulling beast. That was before we went with the Cases My uncle stuck his 1486 IH while chopping. My mother pulled him, the chopper and a 12 ton tandem wagon loaded out And he wasn't even in gear. Ours was the earlier version with the Cat 3208 but the kitty got stoked out to 370 pto hp Sadly the overdrive didn't survive the hired hands quick shifts

A big thank you to you Mr. Michael Conley for the awesome photos and the videos as well. Here is another one that captured some of the fun we had Saturday! I truly appreciate you taking the time to capture what our event is really about!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mw96Pgs7Jo Also if you are on Facebook you can see some of the photos that Michael was able to take and send to me here: https://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=oa.10151645431005952&type=1

So far i have taken the hood off of the machine and i have taken the drive belt cover off and the fenders/ seat. I have also taken off the rear wheel for painting along with some other small parts such as the food pads. The hood is primed but i had to take dents out of the grill so i had to re prime the areas where you see red... I painted one of the wheels using rustoleum gloss ivory in a rattlecan. heres a before And after

Heres my girl. When I bought her in 2011 she was a basket case as you can see. They hydro pump and motor was run out of oil and burned up, car tires on the back, front ones didn't hold air, a seat that a beaver had attacked at some point, no 3 point hitch and a wiring harness that looked like a 4 year old made it, the plow frame was bent and so was the moldboard like it hit something solid at about 10 MPH. But I didn't give up....I tore it pretty much down to the frame, purchased 3 hydro pumps and a motor and Made 1 good of each out of a bunch of parts. Cleaned the tranny completely after finding silicone clogging the intake screen, stripped everything to bare metal and rewelded all the broken parts, fixed all the dents and dings this poor thing got in its previously rough life and started from scratch rebuilding things the way I would have done it if I was Wheel Horse 1973. I added LED lights on both front and rear of the fenders and the headlights. I bought a 520 60 inch deck and adapted it to fit under the tractor and work like it should. I did a bunch of work for a member on here and scored me a bent up and rusted 3 point which I straightened and redid after soaking it for 2 weeks in tranny fluid and acetone. Repainted everything and got a seat that was close to what was offered in 73 on it. I made turning brakes from a bunch of pieces that I got along with some ingenuity and custom fab work from my Dad and myself, 29-9.50x15 Titan R-3 sneakers in the back and a set of 18-9.50x8 turf tires up front. I remade the entire wiring harness and added a multi-fuse block. It was a labor of love from the start because I have wanted an 18 auto from the time I was old enough to read the 1973 sales brochure my Dad got with his 12 Auto. I decided at that point I was going to have an "Estate Tractor" someday. Now she's mine and what a workhorse she is even with a very tired engine she still plows snow like a beast.

Hi Redsquare! my name is Eric. I am 17 and I am from Ct. At my high school we have to do a project called a "capstone". For the project the student must do a project on anything they want as long as they learn something from it. For my project I chose to restore a Wheel Horse 857. I chose this project because I grew up on a wheel horse 1257 and I wanted to get another one and restore it. Unfortunately I couldn't find a 1257 but I did find an 857 so I decided to buy that for restoration. I paid $400 for the tractor, an Rm367 rear discharge mower, a bucket of extra belts (new in the package), rear wheel weights, and chains. It was a wonderful find. Especially because the machine was stored inside since the day it was new. I bought the machine in deep river Connecticut (running and driving) from the original owner. She even had all of the original paperwork. As soon as mi brought it home, my mother named her. Little red riding hood is the name she picked out. It sounds silly but it is actually pretty appropriate considering the machine's characteristics.... Here she is after the initial cleaning.

I can't talk real good, yet. So my PaPaw is doing this. Ya'll know him as Gunny. He got me a WH, it's a 1056 and needs some work. Mom won't let me ride yet, but she said when I am a little older, I could ride with PaPaw. Don't tell Mom, but PaPaw already let me sit on some of his WH's. I don't really like it when he starts them up, but I will get used to it. My Dad has a C100, and my Great GrandDad has a bunch of WH's too. UhOh, we hear Mom coming, we got to go. She keeps talking about a nap or something..... Maci

Hello all! Well, winter's coming on fast. I have the Cub 125 and 42" blower ready. However. I already have enough projects, but I had another idea... I have a total of nearly a mile of tracks that run through the back field, and would like to use them this winter. As a younger child, being a railroad. Fanatic, I started to thinking... If I took a weighted, chained WH, and made a wedge plow? I just question if the plow would shove the front of the tractor around. I figure a flat plow would just cover up, and make a giant pile, the wedge would push it to the side... What do you think of this idea? Spenser.

I disagree, OSU IS a #4. I think that OSU vs Alabama would be a GREAT GAME. The Buckeyes would have a good chance of winning that contest. I am sick and tired of the media machine espousing how the SEC is the BEST conference in the country. Northwestern is a GOOD team and Pat Fitzgerald is a good coach and has built a good program. The Buckeyes beat a very good team by 10. I would take Northwestern against any of the 6 bottom feeders in the SEC.

Hello All, well after lots of coaxing and watching from a distance as Craftsman after Craftsman and other similar "riding mowers" where blown up, wrecked or otherwise destroyed I was finally able to convince a friend of mine to go Wheel Horse. He picked up a C125 8 speed and a C125 Auto with manual lift and brought them home. Both arguably had been put throgh the ringer and the Auto had a blown engine. He managed to get the 8 speed running but the tractor needed an air filter assembly, hub tightening and on and on an on. After I went out to my "junkyard" several times I was able to get him all the bits and pieces he needed and then I showed him how everything goes together. I spent a couple hours over his place and got the mower deck rigged and the tractor serviced. I traded him a plow bracket and plow frame in exchange for the 125 auto carcass.... not really a great deal for me but I don't mind. Another Wheel Horse has been brought back and put to work, as they all should. His name is Jim and hes from the next town over... I will get him to try and join the square..... He did mention that he moved some big rocks with it and couldn't believe how much guts it had. your preaching to the choir my friend! Tony

There has been a descent looking 1962 Model 552 on my local Craigslist now for a couple of weeks. I called the fella and it turns out he has had it in his family since it was new! It even came with the hard to find original 1962 Snow Plow! You don't see these very often. He scrapped the mower deck years ago. He had a price of $300 on it or trade. I asked what he wanted to for a trade and he said tools or guns. I have plenty of extra tools laying about so I offered him some carpentry tools, a new Craftsman lazer guided circular saw, a jig saw and a few hand tools that were new too. He said he would go for that deal since he buys and sells stuff all the time! I brought him the tools yesterday and he said that was ok with him. He brought out a bucket with the WH tire chains in it and asked if I wanted this stuff too? Uhhhh, yes I do! So we loaded up my new Horse and I took off down the road! It is in good shape but has a few issues. The gas tank has been cut up and another tank mounted inside of it. The hood was cracked quite abit. The front tires were junk but the rims were good. I put this spare set of 1045 tires on it just to roll it into the mighty van. I found the original 2 prong key laying in the tool box along with a nice steering wheel center cap and the parking brake handle! I'll clean this up over the next few days and keep it in original condition as always....

I bought this mower couple months ago and sold it to a guy I work with and he planned on fixing it up but he never did he has a cub 125 so the cub 123 would be better with him so he gave me the 857 back and 100$ and he got the cub

IH 706 gas... Yup gas! Grew up diving and fixing that monster, it may have only been rated at 70HP but it could out pull any of the 125HP tractors the neighbors had. My dad was an early convert to no-till and that was our big tractor. Every drill we would borrow was rated for a 125HP tractor, that 706 would pull it all day. We finally wound up buying our own 15' no-till JD drill and the neighbor borrowed it one year. Dad told him we pulled it no problem with the 706 he brings down his JD whatever 125HP tractor pulls it away comes back couple of days later and says his tractor wouldn't pull it, and had to get his big 4x4 to pull it. You couldn't shift them things to save your life without grinding gears, it was loud, no cab, no radio, no creature comforts other then the springs in the seat. But it would pull all day never heat up and get you home. http://www.usfarmer.com/fetch_file/?id=6651552

NEVER...and I mean NEVER have an auction during a home HUSKER football game (for more than one reason) but mainly for my sake. The DVR was getting good use today. Anyway, there was an auction about an hour away, had a '88 or '89 520H on it with 650 hours. You could tell it was taken care of all it's life and in the shed/garage. It came with the following... 1.) 520H with good tires (the rears were bar tires) and a FACTORY foot hydro. 2.) 36" rear tiller 3.) 48" Deck 4.) 46" Bervac 2-stage snow blower 5.) Factory Wheel Horse snow cab (with glass windshield, electric wiper/fan/light) 6.) 2 sets of 2 link tire chains 7.) ALL the manuals in a Wheel Horse three ring binder 8.) 6 25lb suitcase weights 9.) 2 Wheel Horse rear wheel weights (plastic) 10.) 4 Cast iron front Wheel Horse wheel weights 11.) NOS Wheel Horse cover 12.) Brand new tiller belt 13.) A 5 gallon bucket of other misc parts and brackets for??? I bid it up as far as I wanted to go, then it sold on the next bid...I maybe should have went a tad more, but I could tell the lady that bought it REALLY wanted it. What do you guys think the WHOLE thing sold for?????? After the sell, I went and talked to the nice lady and asked her if there was anything that she would think about selling. I told her i would be interested in the cast weights, cover, and suitcase weights. She thought about it for a while and she said she would sell them and we agreed on a price. I had to take one set of weights off the tractor. I hung around for a bit and kind of explained to her how everything hooked up, and what every part was for. Then I gave her my name and number and told her that if she ever needs any help on it, or wants to sell anything off of it, I would be MORE than interested. This is what I ended up with...for $164

I am also pleased to announce that we were able to raise $1200 in memory of Max Nunn for childhood cancer research. The money will be sent out this week to help with the running total. Thank you to all of the great folks that helped by donating some awesome raffle items and those that bought tickets! You all truly made a huge difference! A very special thank you to Paul (shorts) and his wife Sharon for your generous donation! If you ever get a chance to meet these two..........DO IT! I am still recuperating from all the fun! What an awesome day with folks from all over. 140+ tractors on site, swap meet items, tons of fun plowing, and great friendships made and renewed! Hope everyone made it home safely and the Mehlberg family looks forward to seeing you again next year!

I was transforming the 314 from a mower to a blower today. After a really good scrubbing I thought I would tackle all the grease build-up on both sides of the rims, much to my dismay...out of degreaser. I looked to see what I had to use as I was cleaning my hands with Gojo and it hit me. I took a healthy scoop for each rim and really rubbed it around. After a wiping and a good shot with the hose........wow! Better than spray degreaser and not messy at all!

In summer 2009 at a family get together Jdog was telling me about Wheelhorse tractors and showed me this website. He also showed me a CL ad with a D180 in Steelton PA......well I scrounged some bucks together and brought this home....with a 48 inch deck (not shown)....I joined up on this site and one of my first posts was about the tractor going backwards when the lever was pushed forward......I got an answer and had it fixed the same day.....I've been active ever since...... Next I got a plow from Dave at Tractorworld.... The engine smoked very badly so I rebuilt the engine......got some rubber....a bit of paint......added a PTO shaft....got a 3 point..... Same tractor....same dog....now with a snow chucker......4 years later....still a diamond in the rough....but it is MINE!!!!

Back when I had my A/C business I used to do mobile a/c repair at area farms. I had 1 older farmer that had all Farmall/IH tractors and did custom combining all over the north eastern part of our county. Great guy and would always pay in cash what I wanted for any job with out quibbling. His son on the other hand thought he new everything and let everyone know about it. Anyway his son bought one of those Panthers. Father was pissed because it was green! Dad called one day because the Panther's A/C quit. I came down spent about 4 hours there and when done told dad the total. He reaches in his pocket and gives me $50 more than I wanted and says the extra is because his son is paying and it's green! Son comes into the store I worked at a couple of days later squawking about the cost. I say it's fixed, aint it? and he leaves. Fast forward 6 month's. Son calls yelling that his A/C doesn't work. I go out there and just the dad's there. I start it up and the A/c is running but little air is coming out the vents. I ask if the filters have been checked lately and the dad said his son just changed every filter on it. I pull the cover on the smaller stack and the filter is plugged solid. Now air is flowing good without the filter, OOPS!! Son missed that one! The Dad ask's how much I needed and I say don't worry about it. He reaches into his pocket and hands me $50 and says it will be worth the look on his son's face when he gets home!

And that is pretty strange ain't it? 1000 Guys took the time out to view but not vote? I'd say some guys are either sore that theirs didn't win (or one didn't win that they think should have) and no longer contribute. To lazy to vote? Maybe. Forgot to vote? Maybe. Obviously, 1000 people cared enough to at least view the content so they at least care enough to look. Strange how they blew off that one little last step of VOTING. I've entered in the contest a number of times with tractors that I thought had a chance, I was shown the door each time. Big deal. I'm sure its nice to win but in my IMHO its more about contributing than it is about winning.

I have been running my C-175 on inclines for years with no problems. Up, down, sideways on hills no problems yet. The main problem with connecting rods making a sight hole in the side of the block is from being run low on oil. I dont turn the key with out pulling the dipstick. Dont let everyone scare you about your C-175. get it running and keep the oil on the full mark and you will be fine.
