8 pointsAnd that is pretty strange ain't it? 1000 Guys took the time out to view but not vote? I'd say some guys are either sore that theirs didn't win (or one didn't win that they think should have) and no longer contribute. To lazy to vote? Maybe. Forgot to vote? Maybe. Obviously, 1000 people cared enough to at least view the content so they at least care enough to look. Strange how they blew off that one little last step of VOTING. I've entered in the contest a number of times with tractors that I thought had a chance, I was shown the door each time. Big deal. I'm sure its nice to win but in my IMHO its more about contributing than it is about winning.

4 pointsAnd the contest continues..... This month is for all D series and Auto 18's. I will post the first picture however it will not be a candidate for the contest. This one I bought and restored as a worker. Post them up early !! We have a maximum of 10 entries and that is it.

4 pointsThere has been a descent looking 1962 Model 552 on my local Craigslist now for a couple of weeks. I called the fella and it turns out he has had it in his family since it was new! It even came with the hard to find original 1962 Snow Plow! You don't see these very often. He scrapped the mower deck years ago. He had a price of $300 on it or trade. I asked what he wanted to for a trade and he said tools or guns. I have plenty of extra tools laying about so I offered him some carpentry tools, a new Craftsman lazer guided circular saw, a jig saw and a few hand tools that were new too. He said he would go for that deal since he buys and sells stuff all the time! I brought him the tools yesterday and he said that was ok with him. He brought out a bucket with the WH tire chains in it and asked if I wanted this stuff too? Uhhhh, yes I do! So we loaded up my new Horse and I took off down the road! It is in good shape but has a few issues. The gas tank has been cut up and another tank mounted inside of it. The hood was cracked quite abit. The front tires were junk but the rims were good. I put this spare set of 1045 tires on it just to roll it into the mighty van. I found the original 2 prong key laying in the tool box along with a nice steering wheel center cap and the parking brake handle! I'll clean this up over the next few days and keep it in original condition as always....

2 pointsEven though it may get few votes it does get close 1000 views....at least run the year out....
-
2 pointsAre you kidding? With Octobers candidates being the "18 Automatics, D-160's, D-180's, D-200, and D-250's everyone has just been saving up their votes for this months election. I as an owner of an 18 (though in the process of a redo) I can hardly wait to see the entries. My vote is keep it going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. Even though mine will not be near ready I may even post a picture or so, just for viewing not so much for voting as I don't deem it qualified in an unfinished non-running state.

2 pointsInstead of worrying about the govt furlough all day... I decided to focus on turning this down draft oil bath into a functioning up draft unit. Had a few people tell me it couldn't be done, but that's when I usually do my best work. Picts here pretty much tell the whole story, any questions about the process...feel free to ask. Basically, all you're doing is moving the fresh air inlet from the bottom to the top of the unit. Once completed, and filled with oil...I tested it out by letting it run un-tethered for about a half hour in the back yard while I cleaned up. Then took it out for a couple hot laps around the house, up hills, and down, high rpm's and at idle... performed flawlessly, with no runs, drips, or errors. Actually, while running...engine sounds much quieter to my ear now. Would you believe, the wife even commented on how good it sounded.

1 pointSycoticca's success building the plow for his horse got me motivated to start mine. I've got a bit more to start with - this Deere plow was given to me. I tried briefly to sell it and got no bites, so today I started the process of making it fit my tractor. I've now got $38 bucks into it after stopping by the steel yard and picking up some 1-1/2" square tubing and some 3" angle iron. Just got the plow setting in front to size things up and get some measurements here. Over the next few days I should have something going on this. I would be interested in seeing underneath the rear of anyone's plow setup if you've got pix to post. I'm mostly concerned with how low I should have the rear of the frame - just below the axle tubes maybe? Let's see - I've got a couple pics here somewhere....

1 pointI had a hub that was stuck pretty good so I did a search on "hub pullers" to see what some of you have built and I made this one. I turned down a 1/2" plate and welded a 3/4" grade 8 nut to it and used a 6" grade 8 bolt.... Works Good.

1 pointGot a tip on a 656 w/deck and blower with a 300$ sign on it. I have all C's up to this point, but maybe it's time to branch out. Where doe's the 656 stand in the rare list ? Will check it out today. Anyone wanna put a value on it. I know.......we need pictures.

1 pointI've had a factory weight box for some time now. I finally found the time to make a rack for it. I can hang 2-40lb suitcase weights on each side of the box. If that's not enough more weight can be placed in the box. The box is large enough for a 5 gallon gas can, tools, etc.

1 pointI've been talking about and trying to get a good pic of "Robbie" The giant dog my back yard neighbor's own. I don't want to be obvious when I take it, He has knocked down 2 fences on opposite sides of his yard and almost got a section of mine. I had to BOLT the fence section back to the post! I was in the shop yesterday and he got loose and came on in and scared the crap out of me. I was making my way to the shop after work and there he is again! I tried to get the phone out for a quick pic before he took off.Got my finger in it Still can't get a good pic! You can see my other neighbor's house that's been half painted for the past 3 years and the trailer they dropped in their yard a year ago and just throw junk on! Nice huh?? I'm moving to Maynard's Neighborhood!

1 pointIf mixin' a spray, add some dish soap. We used to add the soap to our orchard sprays. Helps the pesticide get sticky for the (stinky) bugs to hang on to.
-
1 pointNo problem Ed! I'm ready and waiting for 'em... they'll be daid within 12 hours of arrival!
-
1 pointJust found this post and I've got to say it echoes my thoughts exactly. I went back and took a look at previous months and the most votes I believe were around 80. It's all for fun (for me) and you get to see some great tractors plus some good reading from the owner. Why were there not more votes? Maybe the views were from guests, they can't vote. I hope others don't get offended if their doesn't win, they already are winners for owning their .
-
1 pointCraig your not have techy issue's are you? I'm not...but it sounds like many here do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdReuUtTvqI

1 pointMy condolences as well. I have heard about the pitfalls of a reverse mortgage and the biggest one was that if you planned your estate to go to your family, forget about the home being included.

1 pointDid you use a fine or course thread bolt. My old eyes can' t tell. A fine bolt would deliver more pulling power with less damage to puller part being pulled and you
-
1 pointIt is excellent that you found a drive bolt that is threaded all the way to the head. Excellent Denny.
-
1 pointI wasn't there but apparently my old 54 walker and sulky made it there... Glad to see it went to a better home with someone who has the time for it. Jeez now Stevasaurus has got to do something I never got a chance to do actually sit on my old sulky frame..

1 pointMy brother David and I had the best time at the Prairieland Heritage Museum Show held in Jacksonville, Illinois this weekend. We were amazed at the number and full variety of Wheel Horse tractors, attachments and Red Square members that attended and made this a great event ! The designation of the Wheel Horse as the garden tractor of the year brought folks for hundreds of miles -especially from Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana! I have photos from three different cameras and I am posting a few for all to see. The two highlights of the show for me were the Minnesota Red Square Members, Joe Nelson , Jason Schahl, Terry Mooney they came a great distance and brought some great Wheel Horse tractors! The second thing that was great to me was meeting 90 year old Earl L. McEvers of Whitehall, Illinois who came and sat with the Wheel Horse folks for half of the day on Friday and conversed with everyone he could. He is a Wheel Horse fan (and Cub Cadet and hit and miss engines) and he was involved with the early stages of setting up the Prairieland Heritage Museum in Jacksonville, Illinois 45 years ago. He came to the show on Friday because Wheel Horse was designated tractor of the year. I will have another post on Earl's hit and miss road grade with some photos of a really interesting piece of machinery he made. Now for the photos: IMG_3455.MOV

1 pointI took a few pictures. It was great to see everyone and meet a few new guys. I sure would like to see more of "jwl's" collection, and ELECTRORIC had a very nice collection there...some very nice round hoods. Great meeting and talking with you guys. WH500Special (Steve) and his dad (Tom) brought the Pond Senior and Lever Steer and a couple of others...always nice seeing them at a show. Got to meet jbumgarner also...a pleasure sir. This is my Dad's 502 that I sold to JoeBob a couple of years ago. What a difference. I love what he did with it. I'll throw two before pictures in here. After... My 702 and 857 Martin's horses Steve's (WH500Special) jwl brought some nice walk behinds...he let me sit on his sulky. ELECTRORIC on the left talking horses... Dave, JoeBob, jwl (Jeff) and Lane... Jason talking horses... They staged us right across from the hit&miss engines. They had a ton of these there...got to listen to them run all weekend.
