5 pointsHello Everyone, Saturday after the Kent tractor show in CT my brother and I decided to take some pictures of our tractors. It was nice seeing and meeting some members of RS this past Saturday. We had a blast! Here are some pictures hope you enjoy.

3 pointsAfter our big Trout Fry at camp this weekend, I had time to drop the loader and prep it for a sorely needed paint job. (Again.....a Wheelhorse advertisement that stated "on and off in 15 minutes" is purely BS)! I also made some labels at work. (On my break of course). They aren't reproductions of the original Ark Manufacturing Company but they do state the same things as any modern loader would in this CYA world we live in. Ther are three total all stating something different to be aware of. Speaking of decals, I may regret this later but I didn't remove or sand the area of the original WH decal across the front. I took a lot of time to save it and it did turn out OK. We'll see how it ages in the coming year(s). Besides being faded, I know I'll be using it this winter and it will see some salt so I wanted to try to keep it as nice as possible. The inside of the bucket won't be getting any paint at all. I may spray the bottom of the bucket black but again, it won't be on there for long.

3 pointsI wasn't there but apparently my old 54 walker and sulky made it there... Glad to see it went to a better home with someone who has the time for it. Jeez now Stevasaurus has got to do something I never got a chance to do actually sit on my old sulky frame..

2 pointsAs a supporter, I know you can upload them straight from your computer into your posts. Click on the "more reply options" button at the bottom of the this reply window... then use the "choose file" button at the bottom of the next reply window... then choose the picts you want to incluce in your post from the pict file on your computer. No need for those extra photobucket steps...that make the process painful on a good day. Cheap supporter pkgs can be found in the store, found in the header at the top of this page.

1 pointInspired by Stevasaurus' "Insearch of Snow" video and due to the onslaught of "Round Hoods with Tecky's " video's permeating the interwebs, I Decided to make a lawn sweeping video with a Round Hood powered by a KOHLER!! . No leaves yet but there coming. Grass is still growing. About filled up the basket halfway in the back yard. Enjoy! Starring; video:

1 pointMike, you are never going to get out of the basement...you are way too emotionally involved in your picks.
-
1 pointI'm picking Northwestern because I sorta like them and remember when they won their first game! , Michigan because I'm mad at the Gophers and hate the Queenies more than the Bears, Iowa because of the corn fed factor, Illinois for Tecky Power and I never liked Neb, and PSU just because.

1 pointMy old boss introduced me to a customer one time as "Kind of a cobbler". I took it as a compliment.

1 pointAuto Body supply shop perhaps? As I recall DuPont used to sell it as a "Metal Conditioner". I'm guessing pricey too... It's available in 6 packs at the grocery store... labeled as Coca-Cola!

1 pointLately it seems as if the ADD has kicked in quite heavily. Have had a tough time keeping focused on the 416 after I screwed the clear up on the fender pan. Yesterday Jeb and I decided to tear into the 400 and find out why it was blowing oil out from under the tins and then it stopped running completely last year with no spark. Well I tore the head off and found the head gasket leaking like a sieve in one spot. It scoured the head a bit but nothing major. Decarboned the piston and put the head in a vice today and hit it with the file until it was smooth and flat again. Glass beaded it and reinstalled it back on the engine. Cylinder walls still have some checkering left and theres no ring worn at the top either which was surprising. Put her all back together and cleaned the points and filled it with gas and she fired up like a champ. No more smoke and runs smoother. Hers a vid of Jeb driving it after and a few pics after I cleaned it tonight. I bought this lil guy as part of a lot of 4 with a bunch of parts and such. I originally had the intention of doing a 100% rest on her but after tonight I think we're going go with that patina look to her. Jeb and I washed her wish some purple power and a red Scotch-brite then I hit her with some Meguire's #5 to add some essential oils back into the red. I know it isn't supposed to have yellow wheels and I have been told that the seat cover I put on it has no place belonging on a Suburban but we like it. We did find it was orange at one time and the wheels are linen beige under the yellow but this is how she's gonna live for the future for now and he loves driving it. I put a belt guard on it that I got shafted on Ebay with. It was advertised as original and I was too naive to know it wasn't until I got it here. Such is life, I'm sure I will spend more than 50 bucks on something not real again before I retire from this hobby.

1 pointThat is one pretty 520! Looks like a '96, but those hubcaps are from an older machine. The chrome against the black rims looks great.

1 pointMore on cases.. Dad has a 446 with a 3pt. Uses it all the time to move trailers and rear blade. Wont even put the mower deck on it. More of a utility tractor than a lawn mower type. Case Also has a wh whooped on hydro drives. If you stall a auto wh's wheels you can burn the hydro out. No so on the case as they have a hydraulic motor for the drive with an actual hydro pump. Stall them all you want. Yes they are jerky but very reliable. More you drive it the better you will get with it.

1 pointIngenuity..........that's what makes a thinker. Most people cant seem to think outside the box. What I see to be the problem is that ingenuity often falls into the hands of some real hacks. I cant speak for everyone here but I myself have sure had to use some Ingenuity both in my day job and at home with hobbies. Vintage parts aren't going to get any easier to find. Nothing wrong with having a thinking cap..............we all have or will need it.

1 pointI like the Hawkeyes John...no problem there. You just never know how good they really are. It makes it hard to pick the winner of their game. Illinois is the other way around...you just never know how bad they are.

1 pointWe have all been burned so many times it ain't even funny. Lots of sellers get burned as well. I can't count how many times I have held a tractor, a boat or whatever for someone that tells me over the phone to consider it sold and that they will be there on such and such a date. Many times that date comes around and I'm left there twiddlin my thumbs all day and the buyer never shows up. So, as a seller, unless I know and trust you, no mores holdsies.... Remember, there are more good guys out there than bad guys. Wheel Horse's are hot items these days, there are plenty of people out there willing to cough up the dough for a nice one, especially a desirable model. I once held an outboard motor for a guy that was willing to travel all the way from Indiana to CT. to get it, but I'd have to wait a few weeks. Him, his wife, the two dogs AND the cat showed up right on time. I offered to fire up the barbeque for some dogs and burgers for lunch and they took me up on it, great time, great people.

1 pointMy pictures don't do the show justice, but I thought it was a nice show. Garden tractors don't get much respect at some of the local shows I go to, but they certainly do at this one. Being my first time at this one, and having my family with me, I ran out of time before I got to chat with everybody I would have liked to. I did enjoy very much talking to those that I did get to talk to. I will definitely be back next year. Dave

1 pointThank you Kelly!! It took a few minutes with a hacksaw and a pair of pliers but I got that cap off. Then it was easy to make my adjustments. With a little trial and error i turned it up 1/2 - 3/4 of a turn. I can't believe it's the same machine! Even more so I can't believe there are many more of these out there operating at such low pressures. And there's more adjustment left, I think it would be unsafe to go much further. Before I made this adjustment I was beyond dissappointed in the lift capacity. Especially in last years snow. Now I couldn't be happier or anymore confident.
-
1 pointI have a Quick way loader on my C-195, I was more than disappointed, when trying to lift about 200lbs, it would struggle to lift it, after asking a few questions, I turned the relief valve a 1/4 of a turn at a time to increase pressure, after turning it 3/4 of a turn, now I can lift the back of my race car off the ground 2' in the air, a guess about 1500lbs it flattens the tires to the ground but the loader now picks up anything I want, I think they set them light so you don't over load the tractor. I used hyd oil to top mine off, and don't turn the valve up to much you can blow lines or blow seals on the cyl.

1 pointKeep an eye out, Last week a Quickway that was on a GT14 went for 400 on ebay. Doesn't matter what they were on though Not that hard to adapt one over to a Wheel Horse. I'm adapting one from a Bolens now. And that one I found on craigslist Duane
