5 pointsI didn't bring my camera, but I think that most of the cool stuff got pictured. Had a great time meeting faces to go with the names, seeing some real nice tractors, and learning about stuff. Amazing how many people know someone you know, even though you don't know them. After a bunch of guys left mid afternoon, another friend and I went over to the flea area and I found a complete briggs engine with a perfect fuel tank, so now I can replace the mashed one on my older walker. Traded the K-91 for a big 5 David Bradley complete tractor... even up, sold my cultivator, so it was pretty much a fine outing. Only got rained on for about 5 mins during the whole time, but ran though a fairly heavy rain 20 mls west of the ground and then for the next 50 or mls. Got home about 11pm and fell asleep telling my wife of the adventurous day.

4 pointsWell i bought the snowmobile last weekend finally i had some time to play around with it this weekend. It comes with all the paperwork for it and i actually got it to run today!! It might not have a lot of value or collectable to it but i like it and think its very cool!! For its age its in really good shape....

4 pointsMy brother David and I had the best time at the Prairieland Heritage Museum Show held in Jacksonville, Illinois this weekend. We were amazed at the number and full variety of Wheel Horse tractors, attachments and Red Square members that attended and made this a great event ! The designation of the Wheel Horse as the garden tractor of the year brought folks for hundreds of miles -especially from Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana! I have photos from three different cameras and I am posting a few for all to see. The two highlights of the show for me were the Minnesota Red Square Members, Joe Nelson , Jason Schahl, Terry Mooney they came a great distance and brought some great Wheel Horse tractors! The second thing that was great to me was meeting 90 year old Earl L. McEvers of Whitehall, Illinois who came and sat with the Wheel Horse folks for half of the day on Friday and conversed with everyone he could. He is a Wheel Horse fan (and Cub Cadet and hit and miss engines) and he was involved with the early stages of setting up the Prairieland Heritage Museum in Jacksonville, Illinois 45 years ago. He came to the show on Friday because Wheel Horse was designated tractor of the year. I will have another post on Earl's hit and miss road grade with some photos of a really interesting piece of machinery he made. Now for the photos: IMG_3455.MOV

4 pointsI took a few pictures. It was great to see everyone and meet a few new guys. I sure would like to see more of "jwl's" collection, and ELECTRORIC had a very nice collection there...some very nice round hoods. Great meeting and talking with you guys. WH500Special (Steve) and his dad (Tom) brought the Pond Senior and Lever Steer and a couple of others...always nice seeing them at a show. Got to meet jbumgarner also...a pleasure sir. This is my Dad's 502 that I sold to JoeBob a couple of years ago. What a difference. I love what he did with it. I'll throw two before pictures in here. After... My 702 and 857 Martin's horses Steve's (WH500Special) jwl brought some nice walk behinds...he let me sit on his sulky. ELECTRORIC on the left talking horses... Dave, JoeBob, jwl (Jeff) and Lane... Jason talking horses... They staged us right across from the hit&miss engines. They had a ton of these there...got to listen to them run all weekend.

3 pointsDuring the Jacksonville show, discussion came up about some of my walk-behind tractors and I mentioned the fact I was currently building the mother one all 2 wheelers. So long story short here is a picture of what it looks like at this time. Not a completely working unit, it has been test driven and found to function pretty well. Powered by a 9 hp Vangaurd engine, it will someday pull a 16" plow in plowing matches.

3 pointsA buddy and I went all three days. Friday was preview, with the auction on Saturday and Sunday. Estimates vary, but a consistent number we hear is around 12,000 people. Some say as many as 20,000....but i think that's pushing it. I would definitely say it's well over 10,000. There are so many stories I have from talking to people all over the nation. This was truly a once in a lifetime auction. I won't go into many more details than that, I'll let the pictures show the rest. I'm sure there are way better pics online....but this is what I took with my phone. If i find more interesting pics I took, I'll post them. ENJOY!!! CROWD PHOTOS.... 1958 Cameo.....$140,000!!!!! This is a more typical car condition there....BTW I absolutely fell in love with this car....not my typical style, but for some reason it really drew me in!!!! It's a 1960 Impala 4dr hard top. This is a "brand new" pickup... There was also alot of cars in the folowing condition, though that didn't stop peoples DEEP pockets!!! More "new cars"!!! More Cars....

3 pointsIt all started when Steve from O'Fallon IL (wh500special) turned up yesterday at the show with a senior and lever steer. as soon as Jeanine knew it was there she really wanted to take a ride on it. well fast forward to the end of the day and Steve offered Jeanine an opportunity to ride the senior back to the trailer. heres the pics and videos from the 'adventure"..... just want to personally thank Steve for really making her day, it wasnt a perfect trip back to the trailer but she enjoyed every minute of it. i went along for the ride on my 1057 holding the phone to catch the event as it happened...... "hey, i want one of these"..... thats Steve holding the rope up for Jeanine to drive under...... heres some videos...... some of them all you can here is my 1057s kohler, i apologize to those that only wanted to hear the senior....... and one pic of one of the 'pitstops' along the way.....

3 pointsGet a wagon too. Would be fun to see her pulling you around.

3 pointsDad and I had a great time today. It was really nice catching up with those of you I'd met before and meeting a few more folks I had "seen" here on RS. Thanks for the hospitality guys and gals. I wish we could have stayed longer and said bye before we pulled out of there, but I had to get back for a family function tonight at church. And I'm thankful the rain stayed away at least while I was there. Denny and I were talking at one point and we both commented almost simultaneously about how truly nice most everyone in this hobby is. Tractor collecting is a bizarre hobby and it attracts a pretty wide range of characters from disparate backgrounds, yet we get along amazingly well. A lot of guys traveled long distances to get there. My commute was a relatively short 100 miles. Travel safe folks! Steve

2 pointsToday I went with my brother and picked up my very first Wheel Horse, I dont know if it was a lucky coincidence or an act of a higher power, but the WH was stored with 10-12 other WH in a variety of models 5 mins away from the house I bought this summer. I asked him mostly for fun if he had a snowblade aswell, they seem impossible to find in Sweden, and he casually said yes, so, instead of just buying the C160 for fun, I ended up reserving a snowblade and a NOS cutting deck, I havent done more then load it up on the trailer, roller it off and into the garage yet but I have big plans for it! First of all I need to find a muffler, either a used one or an aftermarket one, then ill try and go over it to see if there are any more parts missing, oh, it needs a new battery aswell..

2 pointsI don't have any pics to post, but I think everyone else has taken care of that. I did have a great time and really enjoyed finally putting faces to names. It was great to meet you all and hope we get a chance to meet up again. Thanks for making me feel welcome. Next year I will surely bring my tractors.

2 pointsBRATS ON THE GRILLS!! I'd sit between those 2 jokers in a heartbeat! Listening to the Bears post game. Dougie Buffone sounds exactly like a certain Dinosaur I know! Steve's been holdin out. Telling everyone he's retired while he's got a radio gig.
-
2 pointsHah! Made ya look! I just wanted to show ya'll my white wheeled horse - it's an "85 and came with silver wheels. After I put the white fronts on - I liked 'em so much I painted the rears white too. I really like the white wheels better even if they aren't correct. One of the cool things around here is nobody really seems hung up on having everything factory correct. I used Rustoleum Antique White spraybombs - front are Gravely white? Pimp my horse
-
2 pointsmore pics...... look for a thread on the senior 'ride'.....
-
2 pointsthe 2 'brothers'..... these two were almost inseparable all weekend..... kent (my boy) and andrew (terrys son)....
-
2 pointsfirst of all want to thank Steve (wh500special) for making Jeanine's day yesterday. she really wants a senior now and i guess were talking about doing something about it. because im a cheapskate and dont want to spend big money looking for one, theres going to be some improvising here and there. thats all im going to say for now. i really liked the lever steer too steve! was great meeting some more members face to face this weekend, talked with some of you before on here, but nice to put a name to a conversation or three, so to speak. wish id had more time and less distractions yesterday to talk more with some of you.... same goes for looking at the tractors. the turnout for the weekend as far as wheelhorse goes was amazing, i think i heard 53 tractors mentioned from somebody. i think the red garden tractors got a lot of attention from others over the weekend and i heard many great comments and compliments on the machinery from others. when you consider wheelhorse was virtually nonexistent three years ago at jacksonville this is quite an achievement...... heres my pics from the show. fridays 'group' pic... dinner at the local mexican restaurant, mmmm, nice food and tasty margaritas!

1 pointHey All Iam new to red square, and have a question. I have a hood off of a 50's or 60's wheel horse (i am guessing) and was hoping that someone could tell me what it was off of. Thanks chris

1 pointChicks always get to do the cool stuff. Steve didn't offer you a ride Martin??
-
1 pointPapa, I bet it will take you a lot longer to beat up the 16 than the 20 hp Onan. A lot of tractor web sites have stories regarding the 520 and their engines. There's very little regarding the lower hp Onans the big valve problem was with the 20. The issue was also with the P220 and not the B48G. The B was used in a lot of gravely tractors with little valve issues.

1 pointI had a 1972 back in the mid-80's. It had a twin-cylinder Kohler engine and was a 2 stroke! I always thought it looked like an old locomotive.
-
1 pointIt appears as though, he did the best he could with what he had at hand. I used to poke fun at my grandfather for some of the rigging he came up with, but eventually realized his "ingenuity" saved him a lot of money and usually served its particular purpose. Maybe this guy, didn't know how to source parts or was broke and that's what he had to do. Who knows? But I would have brazed it up instead of buying a new or used one, I haven't the extra money for such things either.
-
1 pointI have no clue, ill try and find an original, or ill try and fabricate my own, i like the style with the pipe coming out of the hood!
-
1 pointBreak up the Browns! They are better than a lot of people think and the Bengals should be 1-4 Meanwhile in Chi-Town, The Meltdown has begun!
-
1 pointI like the look of the front end. It looks like the old style bumper cars.

1 pointI think it looks nice...."A horse is a horse.......Wheel Horse of Course! And a Wheel Horse trailer to haul it on.....Now that is sweet!
-
1 pointYou know Martin...I was thinking that you and Steve did not really live that far apart. It would be a lot cheaper to just take Jeanine over to Steve's about once a month. I knew that Steve would not turn her down for a chance to ride that tractor. That was very nice of Steve to do that. Great time at the show and dinner guys. More pictures from the show at this link...

1 pointIf I had to count how many times I said "Oh my GAWD I cant freakin believe this..... I need another beer" yesterday....actually I guess I can....by counting empty Dogfish Head bottles....... UGH just about sums my feelings up.
-
1 pointbasic frame is the same from 61 up, but that is about it, basic, yes there are years that interchange, I'm not going to try to cover them all, but say your 312 needs a frame you could go back to 1976 and get a frame, the first year they added the rear mounting bar to set the back of the footrest on, all the C's from then on will work as well as all 300, 400 and 500 series except the XI's all stick and hydro frames are the same, there are going to be a hole that is not needed r that needs to be added, but for the most part a bolt on swap.

1 pointVery nice videos.... While watching your vids, some automatically played of your AMC. My wife said, "That is what a car should sound like" they when she saw the burn-out, she said, "That is the way a car should take off"! Her brother used to drive (and still does) MoPAR, and rear tires didn't last very long at all! She knows what a "Muscle Car" should sound like!

1 pointIf it's the original Tecumseh the points, condenser and magneto are all behind the flywheel. I don't remember how you shut the thing off, there is probably a kill wire coming out from the same place to ground the mag and kill the spark. Check that first, if that wire is shorted to ground you will have no spark. If that doesn't fix it, pull the flywheel and have a look at the points etc.

1 pointAs some of you my screen name Riley088 is after my daughter Riley who was born in 2008. Last year she decided to take claim of my 1077 that was in really nice original condition. Everytrhing on it worked the way it was supposed to with no issues so I felt safe with her on it .She loved taking around the yard with of coarse myself or my wife right with her. Torwards the end of last season she said "daddy i want you to paint my tractor this winter" I was thinking this will be a nice winter project. Then she said "daddy I want it pink" so off to home depot to let her pick out what color pink she wanted. the tractor was taken all the way down and the work began. It was a great one to do. She absolutly loves it and thats what makes it worth it. Enjoy BEFORE

1 pointA few more. Joebob admiring Steve's lever steer. I'm not sure what this is, but I want one.
-
1 pointToday's pics, I got to meet a few members that I haven't met before and some I haven't seen for a while. I think everyone had a good time. I'm sure some of the other guys will be postin pics shortly. I believe we had over 50 horses there today.

1 pointGrew up with the slotted Round Nose hood: Fell in love with the classic C series: Never cared for the Black Hood line until I did this:
-
1 pointHere's one I forgot to post last night. Joebob, Steve's wife, Chris and Steve enjoying the day.

1 pointA taper lock bush for part of the 4wd coupling arrived today, a quick spin on the lathe with a spare brake drum gave me a 30mm boss. Started thinking about the bodywork, slowly cutting an inch at a time off a raider hood stand has allowed the two halves to pivot, I'm thinking I might weld up the old hole at the front of the fender so it hides the gubbins inside.
-
1 pointA couple more pics of the subframe. and fully suspended transmission there's now a real feeling of rigidity to the whole thing
-
1 pointAs the idea is in my head and I had 30 mins to spare I made this from a length of 1/2" bar and a small 1" pin. It's the shortened shift lever for the front transmission....
-
1 pointIt looks like you had a great time there Craig! Maybe I can make it next yr. with a few Hot Rod Suburbans....My kids had their picture taken with Paul Sr. and Jr. from Orange County Choppers there a few yrs ago.
-
1 pointThanks guys for the help. Now it's just time to take the tractor apart for restoration. I can't wait!
